Just had a BFP and wondered if anyone wanted to join me in the rollercoaster ride over the next few months

Hello there, nice idea to share more about ourselves.

I'm 29 and this is my first pregnancy. It was unplanned but we're really pleased and hoping it goes well. I work in publishing and live in Oxfordshire.

Zoeplankton · 05/02/2012 11:10

Hi everyone!

Found out I'm pregnant about a week ago - its my first, and planned. Due about 4 October. Husband is delighted, as am I, but a bit spooked by the idea of sharing my belly with a whole order person for nine months! That's all of Spring, and Summer, and into Autumn with a baby inside me! At these early days it seems like a very long time... And I already have kind of a 'full' feeling as if there's something in me, even though obviously I'm not showing yet!

Very happy to find this thread full of happy mums-to-be :)

BabyDustPlease · 05/02/2012 11:33

So nice to learn more about everyone.

I'm 26, will be 27 when the baby is born. This will be my first, had a chemical pregnancy about 6 months ago so hopeing and praying this one holds on.

The main thing i am struggling with today is cleaning! Its absolutely knackering me out!!!! Anyone else finding the same thing? Dreading work tomorrow, going to be a long tiring week I think!

xxxxx

Angelico · 05/02/2012 12:51

Milk really keeping everything crossed for you x

missbone you are worrying me about the boobs - mine are massive without pregnancy - eek!

sassee I can honestly say that in a lifetime in (rather religious) Northern Ireland I have never heard anyone pray for 'toilet action' :o LMFAO - love it!

Another restless night, waking up too hot, needing pee, mad dreams etc...

Had to be quite forceful with my lovely FIL last night when he tried to refill my wine glass. I also yelped when I made a twisting movement - crampy ligament-type (uterus?) pain. Equally lovely MIL gave me a beady look - she's had 5 of her own so she knows the signs...! I was also exploding out of my jeans.

BTW this might seem premature but Peacocks are selling off a lot of maternity clothes because of their financial woes. I got nice jeans, black trousers and tops for a pittance. Thought I was being silly and wouldn't need them for months - at this rate I'll be into them in a couple of weeks!!! Confused

missbone · 05/02/2012 13:09

Oooooh! How fabulous is this?! Loving all your posts this morning (i couldn't dive in until now as just got back from church...praying for us all!)

babydust, i can't empathise on the cleaning front as i'm allergic to that kind of behaviour (chores) and have a very willing DP!

bubble, no...I never get tired doing nothing (see above)!

littlepurpleprincess (can i call you LPP? I'm very lazy - see above)! I, too, am on antidepressants (40mg Seroxat) and worry about how they may affect this little bean of mine. I've suffered horrific episodes of clinical depression every few yrs since my early twenties, coupled with debillitating obsessive compulsive thoughts. I honestly dread the state i may end up in if i succumb to post natal depression.

Sassee, I'm ineligible to join the 'knicker-checking' club as, quite simply, i don't wear them (i have a vicious aversion to skid-marks)! Thinking of your 'hurdling' today...take heart, lovey.

Meales, i cannot even begin to think about buggies/prams. If my current financial situation does not improve by the time baby comes, I'm afraid i will have to resort to the kind of wooden vegetable-cart-on-wheels in which his friends push Daniel Day-Lewis up and down the streets in the film 'My Left Foot.'

Lissbug...how does it feel being the oldest on here? (hee! hee!) I'm only teasing, love. I'm only a few months behind you at 40. My birthday is August so will be 41 when little bean arrives. When is your birthday?

Bubble, (or should we call you Pauline Quirk?! Wow! 7 stone...a truly monumental achievement.....my knockers weigh that much) P.s...my roots could do with a re-touch if you're local!

Sorry, will continue my post afterwards...lunch is ready!!

missbone · 05/02/2012 14:38

Hello! I'm back...

Sumsey, I've had a rough night, too. Didn't sleep until past 5am, but i know this was down to obsessing about cigarettes...i would have gladly gnawed my own hand off for a fag, i swear.

Milk! Enjoy Portugal!

Bee1983 Oooooh! You sound posh! Wink

Welcome, Zoeplankton! (are you a marine biologist?!) I will add you to 'The List' as soon as i can. Do you fancy divulging your age (me and Lissbug are considering moving to a geriatrics thread)?

Angelico, I know what you mean about the mad dreams: last night i dreamed i was a jobless, penniless, moustachioed recovering alcoholic, living in the middle of nowhere in the retarded backwoods of Lancashire with an addiction to One Born Every Minute and Tunnock's teacakes. I woke up in a sweat....only to find that this is, in fact, my real life!

Oh... and maternity clothes! Are you serious Angelico?!? I want Pauline Quirk's (a.k.a. Bubble's) cast-offs!!!

Have a splendid day everybody! Grin

P.s.....Does anyone think it odd that my Christmas tree is still up? (It's the only cheery piece of 'furniture' in this gloomy rented house. Plus the cat is to be found at the top of it 23 hours a day!)

FlatYouLent · 05/02/2012 15:02

oooh I'm a bit late to the party but can I join? Just got a bfp on Friday morning Grin. This will be DC2, DC1 is 1 and a bit. Sleep is crap (dreams, restless, DC1 waking...Hmm), feel sick as a dog and totally knackered. Would offer round Brew but the thought of it makes me [vomit emoticon]

Oh just to add, due date 10th Oct.

Elpis · 05/02/2012 15:08

I'm two days overdue and I can't bear to take the test yet. Stupid, I know.

I have a gorgeous DD of two and my periods returned late and irregular because of breastfeeding. So I've only had three regular cycles (35 days), with cramps earlier this week and then awful, constant period-like pain on my due day - actually it was more like one long early contraction. But no blood. Now the cramps have gone and I don't really dare to hope.

I'm 36 and we've been TTC off and on for about eight months - my husband travels a lot for work and returned sick a couple of times, which didn't help, IYSWIM.

I haven't had any symptoms apart from losing my taste for coffee this weekend. But I wasn't vomity with DD1, really - only sick four times.

One of the reasons I'm so wary is that I had 'ghost' cycles last year, when I'd have symptoms of ovulation and PMS and period pain, but no period. And because I'm still breastfeeding, I wonder if that's happened again? On top of that, I've three friends who miscarried after having their first (all of whom now have two, reassuringly). Someone stop me heading down the Nile.

meales · 05/02/2012 15:13

Hey everyone! It's really nice to hear everyone's stories!

Miss bone, your very funny! Making me giggle with all your comments!Grin

Sumsey, I admire your courage and think you are a very strong lady! Smile

I am sending lots of good wishes to all of you!

As for post natal depression, I think all you can do in life is what you can. You are bringing a new life into this world and it takes such a strain on our emotions. The only advice (which I think is easier said than done) is to remain POSITIVE at all times! I always try to see the good in every bad situation, and when I gave birth to my daughter in 2009 I felt very very blue. But, I realised that it was only temporary and that it was your bodies natural way of 'making sense' of everything. I some how got through it and have struggled with my emotions ever since. But I love my daughter, have a very devoted husband, full time job and little money. And you know what- I'm proud of myself and feel happy to be blessed with another child! I don't want to increase any chance of misscarrying by worrying, so I just get on with my life!

To everyone worried about anything, what will be will be, life is a challenge an a test for us all! Grin

Now then back to more important things! Angelico when does this sale end in peacocks!?? Grin xxx

meales · 05/02/2012 15:14

I forgot to ask! C someone tell me what all the acronyms mean!?? I feel lost in translation!

Zoeplankton · 05/02/2012 15:59

Hi missbone! Ta for welcome, I am 32, Australian, permanent resident here in the beautiful UK. DH (I keep getting lost with all these acronyms!) and I have been married almost five years, only started trying for a baby recently.

About the fags - lord, you must be crippled by pangs. I really feel for you - and well done for not cracking. I smoked for 15 years and gave up almost exactly a year ago. I used - and recommend, really really strongly - the 'Alan Carr's easy way to quit smoking' book.

The recommendation is based on this: I didn't smoke on-and-off for 15 years, I smoked for 15 years STRAIGHT. But after I stubbed out the last cigarette, I have never touched another one again, not one single drag. I can't think of a better recommendation than that! :) Good luck to you :)

To everyone - wow, what a variety of lovely ladies we have here! I look forward to getting to know you all :) (and thanks for that peacocks tip, whoever that was!)

Zoeplankton · 05/02/2012 16:10

Oh gosh missbone I spdidnt read far enough back on the thread - it sounds like you know way more than me about tackling addiction successfully already! Blush Sorry! I'll leave the comment up in case anyone else on here is struggling with the fags. Hard enough to be pregnant without having to choose between nicotine withdrawals or crushing guilt!

milk · 05/02/2012 16:53

Thanks everyone for the holiday wishes :)

I feel very nauseous this afternoon :D I am hoping that is a good sign :D I never thought I'd be so happy to have MS again but if its a sign that I'm pregnant then I'll be happy to be sick morning/noon/night :D

milk · 05/02/2012 16:54

Acronyms

FlatYouLent · 05/02/2012 17:12

TMI alert, but is anyone else suffering with diarrhoea? I had it with DC1 at about 6 weeks, thought it was a bug, but now I've got it again I'm wondering if it's a pg symptom? I've googled it a bit and found some others with similar. Just worried I might have a bug...it's always scary.

I'm 31 and had SPD last time, particularly after the birth. Still get it occasionally, so am hoping it doesn't get too crippling this time. Trying to see an osteopath but it's hard to find childcare to go to appts Sad. Nuff moaning, I'm just desperately hoping the earlier sickness I'm experiencing with this pg doesn't mean it's twins! That'd be the end of me.

missbone · 05/02/2012 17:24

Hello, FlatYouLent (great name, by-the-way!) and many congratulations! I'll add you to 'The List' below.

Welcome, Elpis! Oooooh! How exciting! Surely there's a good chance your preggers?! Fingers crossed for you Wink and I'll add you to 'The List'.

meales...I'm glad I made you laugh. I'm more than a little bit bonkers and sometimes worry my humour is misunderstood. I certainly don't wish to cause anyone offence on here (apologies to Lissbug for the age wisecracks...if she's anything like me she only looks twelve).

Acronyms: TTC - trying to conceive; DH/DP: darling husband/partner; DS/DD/DC: darling son/daughter/child; IYKWIM: if you know what i mean; MC: miscarriage; MS: morning sickness; DPO: days past ovulation; AF: Aunt Flo (period);WTF: what the fuck?!?

Zoeplankton, i tried the 'Alan Carr's Easy Way To Quit Smoking' book but unfortunately i smoked the last chapter.

Well, I'm back home in the loving arms of DP after a weekend with Mum and my two nieces. I absolutely love my Mum (she's slightly bonkers, too) but this weekend was strange; being pregnant i missed DP dreadfully and it suddenly felt 'wrong' to be away from him. He is attempting to quit smoking tomorrow but is dreading the struggle. I've felt irritable all day today which i put down to ciggie withdrawal and lack of sleep last night (ditto withdrawal).

Anyone else enjoying 'Call The Midwife' on BBC1?

O.k, I'll crack on with the revised list....

milk · 05/02/2012 17:29

FlatYouLent, now you mention it I have been having diarrhoea, but my diet has not changed :S

FlatYouLent · 05/02/2012 17:40

Definitely planning on giving one born every minute a miss, ignorance is bliss right now, one step at a time!
