turns out ive got insomnia...annoying! sooooooo tired

Vinolover · 21/01/2012 07:19

Does anybody else get really hot and sweaty in the night? I seem to spend my days shivering because Im so cold and my nights sweating like crazy! You could say I had a rubbish sleep last night because of it :(

Im from Brighton too Gingerelle! Is this your first DC? (I haven't checked the list). This is my third!

In Brighton we're charged £5 for 2 scan pictures. Last time it was donations and I donated £5 then so I don't mind doing it now. Scan pictures are so lovely to keep and I love showing my children their scan pictures.

Gingerelle · 21/01/2012 08:43

Hi vinolover!!! that's cool there's a little trio of us bton peeps on here. Yes it's my first so very nervous but excited! Maybe once we've crossed the 12 week point we could organise a meet up? Sadly a wine free one though!

I've had another bad night with early waking- normally sleep like a log but last night it was prob more due to cold and thinking about my bday party tonight....anyone got any good 'looks alcoholic but isn't drink ideas??!

hamncheese · 21/01/2012 08:45

Vinolover - YES. I cannot control my body temperature at all. It's so frustrating constantly pulling off layers feeling like passing out or grabbing the jumpers and hot water bottles whilst shivering like mad. Trust the cold weather to finally come along with this constant wind bah!

Dorita75 · 21/01/2012 08:57

Hi all, I've been quiet as dd changed to Sept when saw doc, so just lurking and reading posts...love the marmite pasta recipe, am veggie too but finding it hard to want usual healthy stuff and am scoffing carbs like there's no tomorrow, feel like a fat pig!

Purplelooby I'm north west, Liverpool-anyone else? I've got mw app at Liverpool women's hospital next Weds. Hope not too long to wait for scan after that to find out actual due date.

Have a lovely wkend everyone Smile

7+6

Dorita75 · 21/01/2012 09:00

Oh, yes vino am so hot in night! Am cold going to bed so been wearing bedsocks (hello Granma!) And waking in early hours pulling them and layers off...every night so far...drinking gallons of water that I have next to bed...

Have just woken up and my naked feet are sweaty. Lovely.

alisonmcg · 21/01/2012 09:15

Hi guys! New to this site but think it's great! I'm due on the 26/8/12 and so excited! This is my first child (I'm) 25 and the only thing that is concerning me at the moment is that I'm only experiencing mild symptoms. I occasionally have slightly tender breasts and when I'm hungry can feel a bit nauseous but that's about it! I know I should probably just count myself lucky but when I read about so many people feeling awful I get a bit worried that it's not happening with me! Is anyone else here the same?

I have my first mw appointment on the 1st of Feb and then my scan on the 16th but that feels ages away and desperate to see if everything is ok!!

The3Bears · 21/01/2012 09:25

Hi everyone,

Welcome alisonmcg , dont worry honestly my first pregnancy I didnt have any symptons at all, just felt normal. strangely enough I was less worried then than I am now. Feel great today though so hopefully things are on the up, may have ordered a cheeky little swaddle blanket for baby the other day Blush it just arrived and is so cute, i'd definitley recommend these as wish i'd got one with ds, he constantly wanted to be squashed up in blankets and cuddled:)

MrsMigginslovespies · 21/01/2012 09:31

Welcome Alison and congratulations on your lovely news. This is a lovely (marmite) themed thread. Enjoy and come and play!

So sleeping. Mine's dreadful at the mo. Tired tired tired during the day, fall asleep fine, wake up A LOT either needing the loo all the time, or far too hot (totally nuts for me, as am always cold). Had shocking sleep last night and now feel exhausted, whichwas not the plan, as have a nice day out planned. Meh. Had a brownie for breakfast though Wink. Seeing Mum later too who reccied some nice pram shops yesterday and brought back lots of brochures. Back later, as puppy is on knee and "helping" with typing which is cute but means I have to retype a lot!

Angel786 · 21/01/2012 09:47

Hey dorita what did you think of being recalculated as sept? I was put back a week, obviouksy pleased scan went well but confused as I was so sure of my dates... But they're the experts!

Welcome Alison!

Lovemarmite · 21/01/2012 10:15

Hi everyone,
Yes me the same, have a warm bath after being cold all day and then get into bed and wake up too hot (I do have a hot water bottle by my feet and so this might have something to do with it but it has never in the past?!). Might be something to do with the extra blood/fluid we have going round us distributing heat and also hormones? Hmm just a thought?

Thanks for marmite pasta recipe - I went and tried to find which Nigella cook book the brownies might be in and chuckled that she's done one too!

Hello and congratulations to you Alison!

Have a questions - it looks as though DH will need to be away on work for the weeks that my scan might be booked for and so was wondering about going private for these first scans and then do the NHS ones too. But not sure where people go for these, is it a BUPA or a specific maternity company that operates around the country? Sorry I'm a bit naive about this!
I am very near Brighton and so if any of fellow Brightonians know of a good place, I would love to know.

Brownies for brekkie?! Coorrrrrr yummmy

MrsMigginslovespies · 21/01/2012 10:21

LoveMarmite the brownie recipe I used yesterday was from Domestic Goddess, btw (the book with the cupacke on the front).

Feel so tired. Bleuch.

Lovemarmite · 21/01/2012 10:30

Thanks MrsMiggins - wondered if it was the domestic goddess or her feast book - have just put it in my amazon wishlist!

Yeap, tired too, just left a message on my mw voicemail as feel so breathless too, wondering if it's low blood pressure, or maybe I just need to go out and get some fresh air. :o
Hope you get a better night tonight!

WelshLadyCDF · 21/01/2012 10:50

Does anyone use any pregnancy apps? I have one from the 'what to expect when you're expecting' website, it says my baby is the size of a plum right now, how delicious is that!
Happy weekend ladies, I feel exhausted but happy, I hope you're all ok. X x x

Dorita75 · 21/01/2012 11:05

Don't worry alisonmcg I'm due 4th Sept so am 7+6 today and have hardly any symptoms except boobs hurt when I lie on them and I've started feeling a bit queasy on and off for about a week & half - not been sick, just need to eat frequently to stop feeling queasy. Feels bit like having a hangover when you can't eat certain foods but crave others like a Maccy D! I feel tired and am checking my watch to see if it's too early for bed bang on 9:10pm every night.

Dorita75 · 21/01/2012 11:10

I'm not sure I believe it angel! When I enter dates on sites like this I get 31st August so don't know how doc worked out 4th Sept...will ask midwife next week...I know that in reality neither date will probably end end up being the day! (all being well)

DP just pointed out we've got Nigella's book, hurrah!

Am thinking if my scan date is ages away, doing a private one. I've been told by someone on the Sept thread that there's a place near Liverpool in St Helens but when I googled it it looks like a beauty salon that does scans! Am sure it's okay but is there a way you check if these places are legitimate, some kind of nhs endorsement or something?

MrsMigginslovespies · 21/01/2012 12:05

I'm confused about my dates too. I think I'm due 21st Aug now according to MW last week. But because of all my internal scarring etc from surgeries, will probably be having a CS. So maybe around 16th Aug instead? Who knows! I'll be 10 weeks on Tuesday. Baby is currently the size of a large olive Smile.

Want to read some drama that might put things into perspective??

After my posts on Thursday PM about having been sick 8 times that day DH came home from work, and I was sick a 9th time.

Was lying shivering covered in goosebumps, but burning up. He tested my urine and told me I had to go to hospital straight away cuz there was a huge amount of Ketones in my pee.

Sooo, I got to hospital at 10pm on Thursday night, fainting, feeling sick, temperature a mess, blood sugar levels very low. Ended up on a drip until this morning - had 5 bags of fluid every 5 hours or so. Had blood tests, urine tests, 3 injections to get me back to normal.

Was so glad to get out today, but for that time I was in hospital it was pretty scary! My phone isn't one with internet access, so I couldn't log on here to update you all!

Consultant scanned me yesterday to check baby was okay and to see if there was a reason (such as multiple pregnancy) which was making me so sick. There was one baby there, had a good heartbeat and looked fine. So happy to be told that!

Basically I was just very badly dehydrated and body had gone into shock from all the vomiting.

Really don't want to repeat that again, hyperemesis is not fun :(

Lovemarmite · 21/01/2012 13:36

Needles! Wow, you've really gone through it - soo glad you're back, hope you're not going to get it again!
Congratulations on your scan though - a bit dramatic to get one in though :o

Lovemarmite · 21/01/2012 13:38

Wow, thanks for doing the list again - there's so many of us now
:)

danmoore00 · 21/01/2012 14:08

Hi All, Is it ok to join the August gang? I am 9 weeks today due with DC3 25/08/2012 aged 39. Booked in at Darent valley in Kent - booking appointment 13th Feb & dating scan 15th.
Reading all your posts - I feel a little more normal now (especially yours needlescuties) - hope you're feeling bettter now!
I am constantly tired & feeling sick and eating for 10 I think!!! Don't remember this with other 2?

Lovemarmite · 21/01/2012 15:30

Hi there danmoore and congratulations too!

Just been on skype with DH as he's away and managed to make sick faces all the way through, might have something to do with my lunch of rice krispies, dairylea and warm water. Hmm, healthy!

Found out that my scan date is the 16th Feb which will mean that I'm going to be over 14 weeks by then - thinking of trying to bring this forward if I can as I'm pretty anxious to know if all is okay and get the NT scan etc... will call Monday to see if I can get an earlier one, or go private. Am I right in doing this do you think?

JParkson · 21/01/2012 16:09

Oh needles you poor thing, hope everything keeps clear(er) for you now. If you're struggling with sickness, have you tried seasickness bands? I'm using them this time and with DD's pg too.

Ginger I lived on Becks Blue when pg with DD - tastes exactly like Becks but 0.05% alcohol. I now prefer it to Bud Blush !
