Really very sorry to read that blackcats, sending you hugs too. :( X

MrsMigginslovespies · 26/01/2012 20:17

Oh no Blackcats what awful news. I'm so so sorry for you and your DH and am sending some chocolates and Thanks. Really thinking of you all. x

Thanks for everyone's well wishes today. Have taken it very easy (apart from another small dog walk) but feel bit achy tonight. Tummy is a bit "heavy" feeling but am keeping an eye on things. Crap day really.

Sc0ttishlass I got the Silver Cross sleepover body with the light linear base along with the Ventura car seat all in navy and white. Am really pleased with it. Bought from Corstorphine Pram Centre on offer, as they're tweaking about with the Sleepover body (for the worse as far as I can see) so selling 'em off.

Really fancy a bath tonight, but because of IVF, was told not to have any hot baths etc until after 14 weeks. Meh.

My Mum for Christmas bought me a sweet tiny little lavendar pillow that I tuck under my other pillow and it's really nice.

Happy Thursday all, hope yo're all ok tonight.

Dorita75 · 26/01/2012 21:28

Thanks for the pram information mrs miggins - very exciting that you have yours - that one looks good - its hard to compare them on line I guess without seeing them. Great that they store them too.

Good night everyone & sweet dreams.

xx

MrsLister · 27/01/2012 09:31

So I folded and just booked myself in to the EPU for a reassurance scan at 1.30pm today.

It's at this point in my last pregnancy that I had an early scan and discovered my MMC - I was doing so well but I just woke up this morning and felt like I needed to see what was going on. I'm not having any bleeding or cramps but I didn't last time either. Nausea comes and goes and my boobs are still killing me but that doesn't really guarantee anything does it?

I'm a bit annoyed at myself as I was giving it the 'if this pregnancy is meant to be an early scan won't change that' but I am scared to death of the same thing happening again.

Anyway - I'll report back later. Wish me luck.

MrsL x

Hope it goes well this afternoon MrsLister and I really hope it puts your mind to rest.

TBH I am feeling the same way. I have a private scan on Monday and I gather that it's this time that can be very worrying as there's no real bump there (apart from the evening, gas?!) and symptoms have calmed right down.
Over the past few nights after 5pm, I've been feeling little bubbles in my tummy that have not felt like wind. I googled last night and it seems that some people think they can feel it very early, and so I was kind of reassured that maybe I am an earlier feeler but maybe it's just my gas going through my system a bit differently as the uterus is being pushed up higher... sorry if TMI, but I am definitely having sensations that I've not had before. Maybe I am imaging it and want to believe that it's still viable.
I know I am being unbearable in this waiting game and my DH admitted to me this morning that he doesn't know what to say to me at the moment. A good wake up call perhaps and so hopefully the scan will help me become less of a worrier?

11 weeks, 4 days
Do we write that as 11+4 ?
Sorry not sure of the lingo, thought it would be 9+2 as 9 weeks pregnant but counted from day of period (i.e. 2) and so officially I would be classed as 11 weeks... ooo confusing?!

MrsLister · 27/01/2012 10:11

Hi lovemarmite thanks for your reply :)

I'm not au fait with the lingo either but according to Fertility Friend I'm 9+1 (9 weeks and 1 day since my last period). Suppose this means the actual baby is 7 weeks old??

And yes - I hear you on the gas!! embarrassed face

hamncheese · 27/01/2012 10:22

Hope your scan goes well MrsLister.

My scan was yesterday and was very good; the photos were free too (at antenatal clinic of health centre not hospital)

I'm officially 11+6 today and due 11th August now for stats.

Also some advice. Midwife told me to get vitd. The ones she advised were out of stock so got some calcium and vit d to tide over but the capsules are gigantic no way I could swallow them and if I bashed them into smaller bits I know they will stick in my throat. Anyone got advice on how to get them in without having to taste them? I don't know if they taste bad when crushed or not... was thinking of mashing them into a banana or something?

x

Vinolover · 27/01/2012 10:55

Good luck MrsLister. Hope the scan goes really well!

Why do we need the vitamin d? I've never been advised this before and my mw hasn't mentioned anything to me.

I'm 11+6 today too hamncheese :) Although my scan last week dated me 2 days behind but I prefer my dates Wink. Im sure when I have my scan next week (all being well) they will officially change it :( I wouldn't mind but both of my children were late so I want as much time on my side as possible!

MrsLister · 27/01/2012 11:01

Thanks ladies :)

Re Vit D - there was something on Beeb Breakfast about this the other week - saying that pregnant women should be taking it but that it wasn't commonly known (excellent).

I get my dose via Pregnacare Plus tablets from Boots. They're also the size of horse tranquillisers so I need to brace myself before taking!

The3Bears · 27/01/2012 11:30

Good luck MrsLister hope your scan puts your mind at rest and everything goes well!

My midwife advised me yesterday to have folic acid and vit d, im taking pregnacare and these already have them in so one less thing to worry about.

Is anyone else feeling a little heavy now, it's hard to describe but it's a strange feeling. Kind of remember it from my last pregnacy but that was 5 yrs ago so all feels new now Grin

PoppyS34 · 27/01/2012 11:36

Good luck MrsMiggins, i think anything that makes you feel better is a good thing. Let us know how you get on.

hamandcheese glad your scan went well :)

I've had a few cramping and pulling pains this week and something weird has happened to my stomach, I can't suck it in that much anymore, and by the evening the bloating really makes me look like I'm pregnant..

I'll be glad when I finally tell work so I can let it all hand out and not worry about sucking it all in everytime I walk about the office!

MrsLister I've got those Boots tablets, they are huge aren't they?

JParkson · 27/01/2012 11:55

Vitamin D? I didn't think this was a vitamin you could take - I always thought it was the vit you absorb from the sun, or have I got my wires completely crossed?

WRT the dates, I can't figure out if it's from your period date or from conception - I used whatever the online calculator came up with, until I had my dating scan Blush [dunce emoticon]

hamncheese · 27/01/2012 13:03

Vinolover - yay for august 11 babies! hopefully you will get good news at the scan for your dates and obviously everything else. I'm a bit miffed about going back 9 days, presumably means nine more days of falling asleep by 7.30. I feel like I'm only getting half a day's living done at the minute!

Vit D is the one from the sun but they do it in supplements too. I'd be very surprised if we get enough sun up here to make me sufficient in vit D. Maybe should invest in a sun light thingo because I really can't stomach those pills the size of grapes.

Anyone else got a fake sun lamp/light? Does it actually give you vit D or is it more for the psychological benefits?

Spreading scan photos like nobody's business here. The wee one is literally raising the roof in one hahaha :D anyone else surprised at how they bounce about so much yet you can't even feel it yet?! :)

MrsMigginslovespies · 27/01/2012 13:30

Hello all, hope everyone's ok today.

I've also got the Pregnacare Plus and think they're very good, but I thought they weren't too huge!!! I take all four things at once! Yes to feeling heavy 3bears definitely, and doesn't help either if I eat too much bread/pasta. Feeling bit pully/achy/odd today and am trying to assume it's all part of the course, rather than something more sinister from yesterday's fall. Had rubbish sleep last night so really feel bit knackered again today. Might have a wee nap later, if the Murray match ever finishes! Wish I didn't have to wait until 15th for my big scan though, as feel bit anxious about everything.

From what I've read about Vitamin D, it's needed to stave off rickets (mother) and help build strong skeletons and bones/help against any birth deformities.

See the full article here: www.babycenter.com/0_vitamin-d-in-your-pregnancy-diet_661.bc

Tennis v exciting!

Lovemarmite · 27/01/2012 13:49

Yes - I have a sunlight therapy device - I can't tell if it makes vitamin D but it's reported to, plus I feel very zingy/more awake afterwards. It takes at least 20 minutes for a session but I like to go for 30 if I've got the time and remember. I don't do it everyday though but as I've got it, perhaps I should!
I'm also taking vitamin D tablets though and will get pregnacare soon once my others have run out.

Lovemarmite · 27/01/2012 13:51

Oh yes - also started to eat oily fish which has vitamin D although the recommendations is to have only 2 portions a week due to contaminants. Also eat quite a few eggs a week.

If interested, here's the NHS page on Vit D:
