scottishlass I don't think I drink enough water so I add some grapefruit juice to it or some of that elderflower cordial, just to liven it up a bit.

Lovemarmite · 25/01/2012 16:40

sc0ttishlass - yes, lots of water being drunk here otherwise I get a headache. Been told to drink lots of fluids as low blood pressure too and I definitely notice a big difference from the days I don't drink much to when I drink more. Yeap - pee is darker and possibly more tired when I don't drink much.
Have stopped drinking all tea etc too and so only on water - gets a bit boring but I'm not sure if I fancy much else (apart from a hot chocolate in the morning). If I eat more sweet stuff then I get thirstier too.

Just wish I could sleep better as I am waking up at 3am, 4am and again at 5.30 often and sometimes not getting back to sleep. Possible anxiety or maybe hormones?

Lovemarmite · 25/01/2012 16:43

Sending you big well wishes blackcats

hamncheese · 25/01/2012 16:53

Sorry to be a totally over dominating this thread (DH on his way home and wasting time waiting for dinner!) but I just noticed the Burns smileys and had to go with it:

[bgrin]

glittershoes · 25/01/2012 17:03

Sending lots of love blackcats xxx

sc0ttishlass - I don't think I am drinking more water than usual to be honest. Some days I find myself super thirsty and others not so much. I am trying not to stress about things like that - I figure that my body knows what it is doing and if it needs more water/protein/sweets then it will make me want them.

Not sure if that is a medically sound way to be but it stops me stressing!

JParkson · 25/01/2012 17:13

Hi all, still feeling ick today - I have no idea what's going on!

Having intermittant dizzy spells, and feeling generally run down and yucky :(

Water-wise, I know I don't drink enough, as I'm terrible at drinking when I'm not pg! Saying that though, I am loving squash which is not me at all usually. So taking advantage of that and trying to drink 2-4 large glasses of squash plus how ever much tea I can or cannot stand that day [bconfused]

I have my scan tomorrow, and am a little apprehensive, just because I want everything to be ok

Vinolover · 25/01/2012 18:07

I really hope all is well for you tomorrow blackcats! I bled with my DD on and off from 6-17 weeks and have spotted this time too but I think that was from an internal scan... Is the blood red? With my DD it was because I had a pocket of blood which was coming away slowly, all was fine in the end. I have everything crossed for you.

I definitely notice a difference if I don't drink very much! It's hard because I'm cold all day and I can't stomach tea or coffee. Im drinking squash most of the time which I just don't usually do and I struggle with sparkling mineral water which usually I love! I got advised also to try and drink as much as I can as I have low blood pressure but have to stop after 6 otherwise I'm up all night weeing!

PoppyS34 · 25/01/2012 18:50

Stay positive blackcats, I've had two bleed episodes so far and bubs is still there. I'm wishing tomorrow comes quickly for you..

Good luck to everyone with scans tomorrow.

I'm definitely not drinking enough, but am really trying too. I do notice when I haven't had enough, so try and add a bit of squash. I'm not a big water drinker usually, anyway.

Happy burns hamandcheese!

Glimpers · 25/01/2012 19:01

Good luck blackcat will be thinking of you.
JParkson I am non-Asda side but a meet up sounds fab! Especially come maternity leave Grin good luck with your scan tomorrow.
I have been trying to drink more water/ squash, especially at work, when I'm prone to drinking far too much tea Blush

WelshLadyCDF · 25/01/2012 19:50

I have just noticed that on Monday, when a lot of us were feeling peculiar Confused (or if your scottish like this [bconfused]) was a FULL MOON !!

Yours, feeling less crazy today, I told some people at work about the news and they were so sweet, (they haven't noticed the engagement ring though!)

Gnomi · 25/01/2012 20:14

Good luck Blackcat, will be thinking of you tomorrow.

Scottishlass - My pee is definitely darker and I drink loads. I definitely drink 2 litres a day, usually more, but I haven't been feeling any thirstier than normal. You're more prone to water infections when you're pregnant, so head to your GP if you're worried.

We had our scan today too. The baby was very wriggly, and actually, I needed to go and do a wee before she could get a good look as my bladder was too full! It was actually amazing how much the midwife could see - she pointed out the nose and facial features, as well as tiny hands waving. Incredible.

The first dating scan put us at 12+6 today, and gave us a due date of 1st August. That was when we were 9+1. This totally worked out with my dates too, as it made sense as to when we had conceived. Today, the midwife dated me as 12+2, but gave me a due date of 7th August. Which one should I go with? I know that only a tiny percentage of babies arrive on their due date, but which one should I go with for work etc? Anyone else confused by dates?

Also, my other question is: has your hair stopped falling out? I thought it was supposed to stop falling out during pregnancy. Mine is definitely falling out as much, if not more, than before! When can I expect to suddenly have thick, glossy locks?!

Dorita75 · 25/01/2012 20:21

Good luck blackcat and jparkson

My hair is still coming out but a bit less than usual I think. Does seem to need washing more often though.

Full moon of course welshlady! My friend lent me a moon book and full moons mean everything 'comes out' doesn't it? Emotions included!

PoppyS34 · 25/01/2012 20:53

Gnomi, the dates confused me too, but I'm going with the 12wk scan (even though I don't really want too, I preferred the other date!).

Very pleased the scan went well.. :)

alisonmcg · 25/01/2012 21:53

Hi all glad all the scans are all going well so far! Was hoping to get your opinions on something...

We have out first mw appointment on the 1st of feb when I'll be 10 and a half weeks and out scan is on the 16th. At the mw appointment do you think we should ask to try and hear the heartbeat or is that too soon? Really keen to hear it but my fear is that we won't hear anything, which could be for any reason like the baby not being in the right position but then we'll panic am have to wait 15 days until the scan to find out if everything's okay! Would we be better just to wait until the scan or did anyone else hear the heartbeat before?

alisonmcg · 25/01/2012 21:54

Ps sorry for all the typos! Always happens when I use my phone!

PoppyS34 · 25/01/2012 21:58

I heard the heartbeat at my 9 week scan, it was 172bpm :) but this was an ultrasound scan, not sure if the MW would be able to hear it then, but I've no clue so maybe someone with a bit more wisdom will be able to help you out with better info... :)

Angel786 · 25/01/2012 22:08

Hey all, I'm back having accidentally hid the thread...! Thanks poppy for your help.

Alison I asked the mw at the first appointment for dd and she wouldn't do it in 2010 but if you don't ask you don't get so worth a shot! Good luck.

Good news on the scan gnomi I'd go with the most recent date, the dr will prob use that for your matB1 when the time comes.

That having Bern said, you just never know! I was convinced dd would be late, she was a week early! I hadn't git yo the chapter on labour in what to expect when, and emailed handover notes after my waters broke!

OP posts:
NeedlesCuties · 26/01/2012 08:19

alison from memory of when I was pregnant with DS back in 2009 the MW told me she wouldn't be able to hear the heartbeat using the doppler until about 14 weeks. I think before that the womb isn't in the right position in your body and the baby isn't large enough for doppler to pick it up.

Could be wrong though, but it's what my memory is telling me.

JParkson · 26/01/2012 08:45

I heard LO's heartbeat on my booking visit, I think I was 10.5 weeks. All depends on how LO is presenting - besides if you don't ask, ya don't get!

I'm off for my first 'proper' scan in a bit, and I can't remember if I need to bring a sample... Any ideas?!

(12+1 I think!)

Westcountrywife · 26/01/2012 08:46

Good luck today blackcat, will be thinking of you today!

Good luck everyone else with scans today!

I keep looking at the photo of baby bump and smiling... Grin

Westcountrywife · 26/01/2012 08:48

Jparkson, yes take a sample! I had to take one in the pot with the red top. My midwife told me she is obsessed with wee samples and to always take one for her.... Good luck! Enjoy it!

MrsMigginslovespies · 26/01/2012 09:05

Morning,

I go away for one day, and it goes crazy on here! Glad everyone is feeling a bit better and am waiting for good news on new scans! Hope your cold is a bit better today Poppy. So tedious without daynurse! Gutted I missed the Burn's Night icons...!

So my exciting news is that I've got my pram! Hurrah hurrah! Mum and I popped into a nice pram shop in Edinburgh yesterday, really just to have a look. And they had the Silver Cross my DH and I really liked ON OFFER, so we grabbed it! They store it for us until Aug, it comes with lots of nice extras, and am v happy with it all. I did worry that i was being ridiculously premature getting it now, but will cross that bridge as and when.

Totally with you Lovemarmite on the hot chocolate thing. Funny isn't it?! I don't really have a sweet tooth at all, but HC hits to spot a lot, especially, as often don't fancy tea.

Re hair: mine seems to be just the same, although I have started to get a dry scalp (gross) which I've never had before. This would also tally with my super dry skin (normally combination/oily) so all bit odd.

Right, am rambling! Have a good day all and good luck for all the scans today!

PoppyS34 · 26/01/2012 09:15

Good luck to everyone with scans today!

Cold still here, man in boots wouldn't let me buy strepsils Confused, so making do with honey and lemon and salt gargle (can't look back, as on phone, to see who suggested that, but thank you!).

MrsMiggins I've got really dry skin too, face hands scalp... Going through moisturiser like anything....

Good news about the pram, hope there will be some sales in the summer :)

MrsMigginslovespies · 26/01/2012 10:24

Quick piece of advice urgently needed please, as am freaking out. Have just fallen on my back whilst out with the dog. Slipped on some mug, but put out hand behind me, and landed (not super hard) on bottom. Bit shocked etc, but not a really hard fall. However, should I call the midwife? Am 10+2 today. AGGGHH!

MrsMigginslovespies · 26/01/2012 10:25

Er, mud, not mug!
