Needles I hope you are feeling much better, good job your OH tested for you. Sounds very scary :(

I also ended up in A&E today, but dental A&E, for a very painful gum abscess, which is apparently very common in pregnancy! clearly not got to that chapter in my book yet Confused, so please look after your teeth ladies :o

I've also got my scan tomorrow, so good luck to everyone else (loupee westcountrywife) who has their scan tomorrow.

Will look forward to reading all about them.

I wish everyone else a very uneventful Sunday. :)

Loupee · 22/01/2012 18:05

Quite a few scans over the next few days then :)
Not sure why, but I've been feeling on edge all day today, as if I could burst out crying at any time.
Before I got pregnant, when I thought about the 12 week scan I imagined it to be such a happy event (and I'm sure it will be) but I didn't expect to get so stressed about it, I must just have too much time on my hands!
Need to stop being such a downer on this thread!
Poppy that does sound painful, I was at the dentist on Thurs, not too bad considering I hadn't been in about 10 years, getting a bit of work done on Tuesday but its mostly pre-emptive. Hope your gum heals soon.
Hope all you ladies are taking advantage of the free dental care :)
I'm going to try and keep myself busy now.

WelshLadyCDF · 22/01/2012 18:23

Good luck all who have scans this week mine is on Tuesday morning, I was worried but am now visualising myself and DP walking out of the hospital happy.

We had a great conversation today...

DP ...I have been reading on the Internet about having sex when you are pregnant...
Me...what did it say?
DP...it says it would be very good for you...

Happy days x

NeedlesCuties · 22/01/2012 18:54

hello everyone! All the best to everyone getting scans over the coming week, that's very exciting. Haven't got any twins yet on this thread, so will be interesting if one of you has.... I was afraid on Friday that Dr would find twins in me, but she didn't Grin

I'm feeling bit better, haven't actually been sick since Thursday: which will always be remembered as The Day I was Sick 9 Times. Nurse gave me a super-sore injection of Cyclizine, and I got some Cyclizine tablets to take as and when I need to. Took one this morning before church as I was feeling a bit blurgh. Still felt sick, but wasn't actually sick, so that's a good thing.

DH is being a total star, but I'm being a bit of a cow and feel bad for it. Hormones all over the place, emotions a mess with worry and feeling sick is top of my mind a lot. Can't wait for it all to clear....

9+2

Westcountrywife · 22/01/2012 19:18

That's great news Needles, so pleased you're feeling better!

Loupee, I feel the same, nervous as anything. DH is laid back as anything. Apparently it helps if one of us is calm... Grrrr.... Wink

eightieshopaholic · 22/01/2012 20:59

Good look tomorrow on all your scans x

eightieshopaholic · 22/01/2012 21:00

luck!!

Angel786 · 22/01/2012 21:58

mrsmiggins those were my favour ire pram choices last time too Grin I think the linear silver cross is far more manoeuvrable than the crossover chassis we had to get. The SC has been pretty robust over the last yeR ( in all weather) found buying on line much cheaper, may have been precious little ones or sth like that we got ours through and the SC after care service is v good.

kellzi welcome Grin

Laughed out loud at welsh.

Right time for a bit of desperate housewives and self Manila pedi methinks!

I fall off the bandwagon for a week and miss almost 260 posts!! Argh you girls can talk!!! Which I most appreciate as it gives me something to look forward to.

Right - hospitals: West suffok hospital, Bury st. Edmunds.

To all the newbies and there seems to be quite a number. Welcome!
Needles, glad you are feeling better!
And youpee at all the scans :)

I am doing well today. Thanks for the thoughts girls. We've noticed my down days are mostly on weekends. we haven't found something against them yet but we just look forward to the weekdays :)

I had my booking appt this week. I thought the MW was fab! the bounty pack was useless though. dreading having my bloods taken as I hate needles but will get over it soon. still 3 weeks to go to next scan.

Lovemarmite · 23/01/2012 09:40

Good luck on all the scans today!

I have a few questions please - I've managed to change my scan (combined scan) to the 7th Feb which is when I'll be 13 weeks exactly. As it involves a blood test, I can't find anywhere how long you have to wait for the results.
I'm a bit of a nervous wreck as this was the only time the hospital could fit me in as my original appointment was booked for 14 weeks 2 days which is too late - however, my time on the 7th is not an actual appointment but I'm being squeezed in before the clinic starts and so hopefully the soniograph won't be late?!
Also my DH is going to be away on business from as soon as we've had the appointment for the rest of the week and so any results and I'll be on my own - yikes - dreading it!
Would you try and go private and see if you can get an appointment for next week when I'll be 12 weeks so you could get the results together? and do the NHS one too?

Ahh feeling mighty anxious about it and hoping I am just being a bit daft!

PoppyS34 · 23/01/2012 10:26

lovemarmite the midwife said to me that the results of the combined test would take two weeks to come through the post if they were considered low risk, but if the results were considered high risk then I'd be called within a week to discuss things/options further.

I think they fast track the high risk results, but she said I could call for the results anyway. I'm based in London, so don't know if this is normal/usual?

good luck, i feel quite nervous about my scans today

The3Bears · 23/01/2012 10:40

Hope your feeling better now needles how scary.

Good luck to everyone having there scans today, how exciting! Grin

Had a busy weekend, but feeling alot more normal now so hopefully past the first 12 weeks now Confused looking forward to getting alot done while I feel like this. Hope everyone else is feeling good aswell! 4 days til 1st midwife appt :) cant wait!

Westcountrywife · 23/01/2012 10:43

Poppy, I'm nervous too, can't think of much else. Didn't sleep much last night so I'm also tired... and very likely to be emotional!

Feel a bit like its baby's first judgement (like very early school exams) and so am feeling very protective. Does that sound mad?

PoppyS34 · 23/01/2012 10:56

that doesn't sound mad at all westcountrywife went I had the 6wk scan I told my partner the hospital report was our baby's first school report Blush :)

good luck today.

Westcountrywife · 23/01/2012 11:34

Phew it's great to know I'm not alone feeling like that. Good luck for you too!

tashaw28 · 23/01/2012 12:43

Hamncheese yes to the itching everywhere!! It's driving me crazy, waking me up at night etc, I saw my gp who tested my liver function but it was fine so I just have to live with it I guess. Does anyone have any advice please! Tried lots of creams but in the middle of the night not much helps Sad

blackcatsdancing · 23/01/2012 13:20

lovemarmite my mw said if i had a high risk score the test results specialist mw from the hospital would most likely call me the next working day. For me that will be this Friday. The bloods can be processed very quickly. At fetal meds they said to me they take bloods half hour before your scan and you can have CVS later that day if your combined results are bad, so it must be a quick process with no cultures or anything else involved. If all is good then i was told by my MW that i'd get a letter through the post with the results within a week. Me personally? If i could afford it i'd have it done privately and have my partner there . I am actually not too stressed about getting a high risk result, I see it as inevitable at almost 44! I will however be terrified about the CVs results.

blackcatsdancing · 23/01/2012 13:28

lovemarmite just reread your situation. I'd want partner there at scan but i'm ok with getting my results alone. I'm a bit of a lone wolf and prefer to be alone when upset. As long i could email/phone him that would be ok. I suppose if it is a high risk score though you may want to have CVS/amnio asap and want him there for that.I can't off the top of my head remember exact weeks you have to be for either procedure so think about that when deciding. and some people don't want to have a diagnostic test anyway. Most likely all be fine though!
Someone else said they were visualising themselves leaving the hospital all happy after the scan and i must say right now with 3 days to go that's my approach. I'm saying to myself 'this baby will be ok' as i really can't start worrying too much. Worse still we're both starting to bond with it and make plans- which i swore i'd try not to.

good luck to fellow scanees(?) this week!

alisonmcg · 23/01/2012 13:41

Good luck to everyone who has a scan today!! Looking forward to hearing how you get on! Still have over 3 weeks till my scan, counting down the days!!

MrsMigginslovespies · 23/01/2012 13:47

Can I come on and have a moan about DH please? Feeling upset and cross. So, he comes home most days from school for lunch, as otherwise we don't see each other that much. I decided today that we'd have a healthy lunch of salad leaves, ryvita crisp breads with hummous, carrot sticks and a nice bean/feta/pulses thing from M&S. Bring on lots of moping and moaning about not being a proper hot lunch with soup (that we have almost every bloody day with sarnies that I make). He then said did I think he was fat? I said, no, I'm preggers and trying to be healthy and get my 5 a day, plus was a bit different. He said, well I get my 5 a day. Great for him. He pointed out (fairly) that he has to coach rugby all afternoon, so salad was cold, but there were lots of nice things and was filling. He then made himself a ham sandwich. Both of us then sat in silence upset and pissed off. Beginning to think he should bugger off back to school and eat their stodgy crap instead. Bah. Rant over. Really can't be arsed.

Westcountrywife · 23/01/2012 14:34

Mrsmigginslovespies, really sounds like he should be damn well pleased with anything you make for him! Bloody cheek. Angry

On the other hand he could have had a bad morning and you could be a bit like me and a bit hormonal... (not your fault of course, definitely his).

Still though, bloody cheek of it! I hope you enjoyed your healthy lunch, sounds lovely to me.

Lovemarmite · 23/01/2012 16:14

Hi blackcatsdancing, thanks for all your thoughts/advice. Really helpful, thank you x
I managed to get a private scan in Gatwick next Monday at a Babybond centre and will do the NHS one too. This way DH will be definitely at the private one, the NHS one he'll be really rushed for and so it might not be such a relaxed affair as he has to be off to Heathrow quickly straight after and I can imagine I would be a worrier beforehand.
I think I'm a loner in many ways but a real woos when I need to share the worry. I don't think he's worried though, which is great and he's said that he's going to block the internet as I wouldn't have worried if I hadn't read about it!

Will be thinking of you for your scan x

MrsMigginslovespies · 23/01/2012 16:36

Thanks West. But we're friends again after he came home and said he'd been a selfish prat. And I gave him a creme egg Wink. So all ok again in the Miggins household. Hate having grumps though.

Have been doing some UN type negotiating with various pram shops. It really pays to look around, as have found my Silver Cross place I went to on Sat MILES cheaper than anywhere else...by almost £200.

Off to do some work reluctantly.

glittershoes · 23/01/2012 17:05

Good luck for all those with scans (retrospectivally for those that were today!) and for everyone else just because!!

I get so cross with my DH as well MrsMiggins, even when I know that he isn't being unreasonable! You are totally in the right and so pleased that he came home and apologised - can you send him round to teach Mr Glittershoes some remorse lessons?

So sorry that you have been having a rough time needles! Glad you are on the mend!

I had my booking in appointment today, I quite enjoyed it really, except peeing in a pot - much trickier than I thought! And my scan is booked - two weeks today! Hooray! Can't wait!
