Hi all, finished for Christmas (teacher) thank god!!!! Felt flutterings this afternoon. Have felt it more since I've been home! Baby's saying hello!!! We won't be finding out the gender, it'll be a nice surprise at the end! Off for a nap now, staff party last night!

Dozeyland · 16/12/2011 21:03

bluecrane mine was 23.99 i think as i got an additional gel (what the hospital use) and it is good.

baby sounds if i remember rightly :)

Na7asha · 17/12/2011 09:54

Hi all, sorry am elusive... Busy at work, cannot wait for the Xmas holiday!

No news though but bump is definately growing. 16 week appt went fine, having joint mw and consultancy care due to age and past high blood pressure.

We really want to find out the gender.

Oh, bought DH novelt Xmas socks, to daddy from bump! He'll love it. We're both so excited about spending the next Christmas with a baby! Am literally giddy with excitement about it :)

Off Xmas shopping soon, try to avoid crying at everything :)

Love to all x

What is everyone craving? Or missing?

I have become a very fussy eater - ordering things or cooking things then really not fancying them when they are ready! I have even spat food out as I couldn't bear to swallow!

I thought I would miss alcohol and steak (if it's not rare whats the point IMO) but I've not at all. However I am missing runny eggs and blue cheese! It will kill me over Christmas!

bigboobsatlast · 17/12/2011 18:25

pate and sushi! I think I can have supermarket sushi but haven't as not sure what advice to trust! anyone know?

and a glass of vino would be bloody lush!

Na7asha · 17/12/2011 19:02

I really miss wine, especially after a crappy day at work :(
Q
Have been having zero alcohol lager which is better than expected. Sort of convince myself am drinking. Am exploring different squashes, I have a spiced berry one that is lovely for this weekend. Reckon if I have it with hot water it'll be just like mulled wine :)

Dozeyland · 17/12/2011 20:06

I don't drink (bf DD until i was 2/3months pg roughly) and even before that i'm not that big a drinker.. odd occasions. But sometimes do think, mmmm a nice glass of rose, or a lovely malibu & pineapple. but not so much of a craving.

Went to a Christmas market the other day, and saw mulled wine.... yum.. but i chose the other option for mulled apple juice, very yum. so I bought the mulled spice to make the apple juice.

I keep wanting crappy things but have been good. even though i did just eat a pizza, but not all of it and i havent had a pizza in so long! i just felt like one then i ate it now i feel yuk :(

fruit juice i love love love right now.

sat with a packet of mini twirls next to me.. they keep winking..... i've been so good so far this week....... hmm -Eyes rolling......-

Alisonjayjay · 18/12/2011 10:08

I've been craving a pint of beer. I don't even like beer when I'm not pregnant! I went to Wetherspoons for lunch with my Mum last week and had a weak shandy. It really satisfied my craving. I'm also craving pickles and olives but still feel as though I can't eat much without feeling really full and suffering from heartburn already.

Cewafwb · 18/12/2011 14:51

I am on my fourth baby - i have at least one glass of wine when I want one and there is nothing wrong with that. The changes in advice from when I was pg with ds1 and d?4 is outstandingly amazingly different. Then it was drink one glass a day for a healthy pg, ds2 was have a bit, ds3 was not a lot and i think now with d?4 it is drink nothing. I work on the basis all my are fine and if I want to eat or drink bar pate and sushi, I have eaten and drunk it within reason. I craved salami with gherkins and tomato ketchup!

Cewafwb · 18/12/2011 14:51

Also beer is fine. The only thing I don't drink much of are spirits.

Newtothisstuff · 18/12/2011 14:56

I want pâté soooo badly !! I've been craving it.. So much so I almost bought some then chicken out !! I agree about the changes when I had DD 5 years ago the advice was the eat loads of tuna now the advice is to eat it once a week ! I don't really follow the do's and dont strictly if I fancy a runny egg I'll have one haha ! Although I do think pâté is pushing it a bit

BlueCrane · 18/12/2011 17:03

My Christmas Eve feast normally consists of liberal amounts of the following (which are all on my favourite foods list!!), consumed over the course of several hours whilst sat of the sofa watching cheesy Christmas films with several glasses of vino: pate, stilton, brie or camembert, smoked salmon etc

But this year I'm not supposed to eat any of those and DH has to work Christmas Eve so there'll be no sofa feast anyway Sad

Anyone else had sudden boob growth around the 16/17 week mark?? - am sure mine have gone up at least a cup size overnight Shock Though are unfortunately still odd sizes Blush which they've been since I first had a pregnancy boob growth spurt!

karatekimmi · 18/12/2011 17:05

I'm never sure what to believe and what is forbidden and what is to be avoided! I'm not sure how any babies survived this last few thousand years!!! I've eaten sushi but checked the fish was previously frozen! My doctor said liver and pate was fine at my first appointment, but he did also say you could catch Chlymidia from hot tubs?!?

I've had a few sips of alcohol - and have 2 bottles of fruit beer in the fridge! I figure over a few days it'll be fine!! my damson gin will be donated to my father this year, begrudgingly, but I'm sure he'll enjoy it!!

Plan to finish my Christmas shopping off tomorrow and start the Christmas baking!

Newtothisstuff · 18/12/2011 20:21

You definitely cannot catch chlamydia from hot tubs !! (I worked in a sexual health office) why would a doctor even say that !!

I'm with you on the boobs thing mine are massive.. I'm normally a small B cup and they have gone up at least 2 sizes they have a mind of their own !!! Grin (not that I'm complaining)

hippieshake · 18/12/2011 21:59

Blue with you on the boobs. gone from a 32B to a 32DD, they had another spurt last week. Looking very top heavy now as the bump has yet to appear.

I'm struggling with Christmas because I'm veggie, and most veggie options are brie and cranberry, or goats cheese.

I'm craving a lemsip... I've had a cold for over two weeks now, and it's not getting remotely better!

My dog also seems to have some skin infection, DH is taking her to the vets tomorrow. So now I'm treating her like she has the plague and not going anywhere near her just in case I can catch it. Wondering if I'm being slightly OTT. :) I've also had DH antibac everywhere, and promise me he'll keep it up.

alwaysanauntie · 19/12/2011 11:03

Following on the booze topic, I've been having the odd regular beer with a meal, maybe 1 or 2 times a week. I figure it's got less alcohol than wine & my my mum & sisters drank wine while pg and their kids are ok.

On the sushi front, Tesco's actually says "no raw fish" on it, & as karatekimmi said if it's been frozen it's fine. Apparently hot tubs can be risky as they increase chance of mc if you stay in long enough for your core body temp to rise (same for sauna & steam rooms). But most risk in 1st trim, so may be ok for us now.

My boobs are now 38DD (was 36B/C) & I find wider fit more comfortable as I'm leaning over computer all day at work. They seemed to be filling bra more than usual, & if they get much bigger is going to start getting expensive! Have managed with Sainsbury's non-wired support bras for now ($6 each bargain!) Would like to wear wired, but boobs are growing round side & under arms (nice!) so too uncomfortable.

Finally, have also developed a random rash on my hands like i've scratched them on thorns, but not sore & pregnancy for dummies book my SIS gave me said we can look forward to all sorts of rashes (on top of everything else!) & so long as it's not painful etc just treat with lotion. What's in store for us next??!

AlexTasha · 19/12/2011 14:10

Hi ladies, I got a doppler on the weekend, ordered it from Amazon - Sonoline B from clinical guard and it is amazing! I highly recommend if you are thinking of getting one for a budget of aorund £50. Listened to it 3 times yesterday and heard him thumping around as well as his heart beating. I could have listened all day. Glad I bought an extra bottle of the gel that goes with it!

He has started thumping around more too which is cool, starting to feel him more and more!!

I have been craving Pret cheese baguettes and I found out the mayo they use in pret is pasturized so have been going there for their tuna baguettes too but I could literally eat 5 of the cheese ones a day week. Blush haha

Damn all of you whose boobs are growing! Mine have only gone up a little bit and one is now bigger than the other! Great! I hope they deflate at a similar rate after the baby has weaned or I will be mighty peeved!

Hope you are all feeling good and the bumps are getting bigger! Mine is, but mainly due to massive food consumption over the last few weeks!

:)

Enfyshedd · 19/12/2011 19:22

My boobs don't seem to have grown at all, although I'm a 38F to start with - they're definitely heavier though (desperately hoping not to end up with a chest resembling a pair of wet sandbags after BFing). Have been lucky clothes-wise so far as I lost a stone when I left my ex last year so all my trousers that were too big for me after that are fitting me again now, although I treated myself to a nightie from Mothercare on Saturday which had been double discounted and was only £4.80 after starting at £16! Xmas Grin

Am so looking forward to having my 4 day break over Xmas, if only for the 2 nights my DSSs will be at their mother's (her turn for Xmas). Not that I don't care for them (I always say that I don't say I love them because I've never been a mum before so I don't know what it's supposed to feel like), but a new stoppy teenager and a hyperactive 5 y/o are a hell of a combination to put up with sometimes, even more so with my temper being a bit shorter than usual (think the teenager is avoiding me at the moment after I told him off in public for walking off in a strop on Saturday when I'd taken both DSSs to the city for Xmas shopping). Ho hum, the joys of parenthood...

iowmum88 · 19/12/2011 19:56

My boobs have gone up a cup size and now 38DD finding it quite hard to find decent supporting bras. They are killing me today really hurting not just my nipples but my whole boobs and not just when I knock them but all the time!! Anyone got any helpful tips? I'm sure I never had this with DS ( not until later stages anyway)
Other then that feeling alot better now chest infection and cold cleared up just the dermititus in my scalp to get rid of now (easier said then done)
Bump seems to be growing, or may just be all the food im eating, not really having any cravings yet just if I fancy something I have to have it!
Struggling still in what to get DP for Xmas but really looking forward to it.
16 week appointment went well heard baby's heartbeat very strong and found it straight away so very happy! Didn't get weighed which I wish I did so I can monitor it, dont have scales at home. Should get some really!
Feeling some movement from baby which is great and exciting midwife said it's easier to feel it 2nd time round.
Glad everyone is doing well!

Dozeyland · 19/12/2011 20:35

My skin on my hands, and legs is so dry, and i have a rash-like thing too, :S

my face, still got spots :( really pee'ing me off now :(

alwaysanauntie · 20/12/2011 08:39

So much for glowing during pregnancy, sound like we're a bunch of beauties! :o

BlueCrane · 20/12/2011 10:16

alex I'm also lop-sided and hoping they right themselves during post BF deflation Blush starting to feel quite self conscious about it as I'm sure there's a good cup size and a half between them...one 34C-D and one 34DD! Makes finding bras a little tricky too!!

iow mine feel quite heavy as well, not too painful this time thankfully though. When I was pregnant earlier in the year (pre-MC) they were like rocks and super painful and I found it v difficult to get comfortable at any point! Hope the bra search gets a bit easier!

And skin sooo dry too...forgot to moisturise this morning as I was in a rush and my legs, hips and back are sooo itchy now!!

But...in all this, I love my little bump and am so pleased beany is growing away in there and doing well and wouldn't change that so don't want to moan too much about the side-effects!! Xmas Smile

Wommer · 20/12/2011 10:30

OMG my fingers are the MOST itchy things ever, they will not stop itching!!!
Never had anything like it - guessing it had to be of related...
SOooooooo annoying!!!
Xxxx

Wommer · 20/12/2011 10:30

*of = pg!!

Russki · 20/12/2011 14:07

well, i've also been a little bit (too) blase about dos and don'ts - i certainly can't give up runny eggs, and didn't even know that smoked salmon was off the menu. And i do still drink wine, just not that much of it. I'm going off a New York Times piece that said babies of women who drink in moderation during pregnancy are 30 percent larger! Well, basically, i think you can find a study to suit every craving!
