Wommer, I work in marketing and have the same trouble.. plus I'm known for enjoying the odd tipple. I'm on a hen weekend next week and as they're all close friends have decided it's easier just to tell them. Not an option for you.

Best alternative I could come up with was antibiotics and if you say you've had a recurring problem that you just need to get sorted. Maybe they'll leave you to your orange juice? Do they need an actual medical condition? Water infection maybe.... might put them off?

Na7asha · 23/09/2011 13:31

OK, been dieting all year for my wedding in 5 weeks. Now am pg have decided I need a balanced diet, rich in all the food groups. Which includes chips, right? They taste heavenly!!!

twittertotter · 23/09/2011 14:00

Wommer - I've got 2 weddings and hen weekend in the next 5 weeks so could do a few excuses myself....

Wommer · 23/09/2011 14:00

Thanks na7asha :-)
As they're all blokes and TERRIFIED of female "problems" (they are so not gonna have a clue what to do in 6 weeks time when I tell them mwahahahaha!!!!)
I'm gonna go with the water infection I think - whether they believe me or not they'll be guaranteed to drop it then!
Lol!
Thanks for your help :-)
Xxx

Wommer · 23/09/2011 14:01

P's - chips are defo one of the vital food groups AND one of your 5 a day..... WINNING!

WidgetWB · 23/09/2011 14:33

Wommer - fourth time round (assuming I keep going) and the way to get over it is to say that you are going on a health drive to try to get fit etc and therefore you are not drinking midweek. Alternatively you can drink fizzy water with ice and lemon and say its vodka and soda. Can't help too much on weekends, unless you say you are off alcohol for a healthy lifestyle decision for two months, by which time you can tell everyone.

Na7asha - NO chips!

Can't work out how you are all getting the names in bold - I am on a mac - any ideas?

Rosepip · 23/09/2011 14:53

Hello ladies, would love to join please! I am just over 6 weeks, got a BFP at 4 weeks but had to do 4 tests to convince myself! I'm 40 (41 in a couple of weeks) my DD is 10 and my DS is 6. I am being very cautious as I had 2 consecutive early miscarriages in July and Aug. Saw my doc yesterday and he suggests I see my midwife urgently as I may need some hormonal assistance to make sure the pregnancy sticks around. Working out my dates, my EDD looks like 17th May 2012. Am considering going for an early private scan to check all is ok as it just doesn't feel real and I'm almost waiting for it to go wrong like the previous 2 times. What a rollercoaster we are on! Good luck to eveyone :)

pastafantastic · 23/09/2011 15:47

Hi Rosepip, and all new joiners to the thread. Just copy the last names list and add yourselves to it. Congratulations to everyone.

I'm 6 weeks as well, though it seems like I've now known for a fair while. It's a looooong process.

I'm off for another scan this afternoon as they're checking for possible ectopic pregnancy (high hormone levels, but can't see much in my womb). Worrying.

Rosepip, hope you're managing ok. You're right, it is a rollercoaster, especially at this very early stage. It's difficult to be happy and settle in to the pregnancy with so many what-ifs.

How is everyone else getting on??? Having fun trying to hide the tiredness, vomiting and peakiness from people you haven't told?

Dozeyland · 23/09/2011 17:31

Just the hormones!

Told my boss and she's been ace!

Hello all newcomers, yeah add your name to the list! :)

I am roughly 6weeks on monday I think... Forever until a scan!!!!

When have people started getting "proper" symptoms? All I have is gas, a bit of bloating (both of which could be due to eating carbs again for the first time in two months - great timing for THE big diet lol!) agonising boobs, and some lines on a stick.
Is it only me that doesn't actually FEEL pregnant?!
Have actually kept all 4 (yes 4!!!) pregnancy tests just to reassure myself that it's happening....
Am at 5+3 at the moment and this will be my first foray into the world of pregnancy.
Thanks xxx

WidgetWB · 23/09/2011 18:47

Wommer, am totally in your camp. Had to do a third test last night just to prove it to myself as feel nothing other than not getting period, one soreish boob and well thats it. Nothing else. Am sure its coming, feel horribly like this is the calm before the storm! Still not sure we are carrying on, but ......

pastafantastic · 23/09/2011 19:02

Wommer, you might be one of those incredibly lucky women who cruises through pregnancy without so much as a swig of gaviscon Grin

Sounds like you've got the hunger though!

I can't stop eating broccoli cheese......yum.

CODwidow · 23/09/2011 19:03

I am also pretty symptom free and I'm now 6+2 doesn't really feel real at all.

Wommer · 23/09/2011 19:24

Thanks guys - glad it's not just me. Guess it's just really early days at the moment!
Am reading everything I can lay my eyes on right now .... amazing the stuff no-one tells you!
Like the bloating.... I'm actually about to actually float away I'm sure!
X

bigboobsatlast · 23/09/2011 19:28

Hi pregnant ladies! Have not had chance to check in for a while and have not read all posts - but can tell there are loads of us now!
Still feeling fine just more tired than usual. With DD sickness started at 8 weeks I think so it may be on its way! Just sore (and bigger!) boobs at the mo. Got checking in appt. on rd October which I am loking forward to - and then all being well the long wait for the scan.

Hubby just told me he wants to know the sex this time - but I don't :-/ I will win this one though :-)

pastafantastic · 23/09/2011 19:31

Yep, its like a secret club. No one tells you about the lochia either (will leave you to look that one up).

Na7asha · 23/09/2011 19:37

No obvious symptons here either. Bloating yes but have also put that down to eating carbs again. My coffee really turned my stomach this morning though. Oh and my boobs are growing, which I'm quite happy about!

So how does it all work check up wise? I'm supposed to get a call to see the midwife around 12 weeks. What happens there and when do you have a scan? I too don't feel pg so am really keen to see proof. Other than the 4 tests I did that is!!!

bigboobsatlast · 23/09/2011 20:02

Hi Na7asha, In my experience... I would have thought the midwife would want to see you before 12 weeks as they would need time to do their referral ready for the scan? I have got my booking in appt a week monday when I will be 6 weeks. Others nay have different experiences though. You should get your first scan around 12 weeks.

Not a great deal happens at a booking in appt - wee sample, blood samples, family history etc etc. But the midwife will not check you are pregnant as she will be believe the pregnancy tests you have done! Having said that, the booking in appt does help to make things feel a little more real, which is great.

I hear you re the boobs ;-)

WidgetWB · 23/09/2011 20:08

Assume it makes a difference on booking apps etc as to what country we are in no? Is everyone in UK? If not, might be interesting to know what other countries do......

bigboobsatlast · 23/09/2011 20:10

hey widget, have read your posts. how are you getting on?

CODwidow · 23/09/2011 20:13

My husban also wants to know the sex, we've always found out with the other 4 but I'd quite like this one to be a surprise not sure I will win this one ;-)

WidgetWB · 23/09/2011 20:20

bigboobs, you are a star, thank you for asking. Don' t know is the answer. Still so confused, hubby seems pretty unconfused, yet when I tell him we will just not do it, he says lets not make any decisions straight away. Luckily I don't have any symptoms yet, as that would make it much more real and harder I think. Going to see my mother tomorrow with the boys without hubby. She was in the same situation and I would be interested to know what her thoughts are. I love that you love your big boobs, I have worked SO hard to lose mine, and all the weight, and am now a size 8 and really don't want to get bigger. I have worked SO hard at it, (wasn't that big anyway, but was lovely to have lost it all.) I just feel that we have done the whole baby thing, have so come out the otherside, and now........?! I have given everything away and ...... I just can't see a positive reason to do it. Having said that, if you asked me to get rid, I am not sure I could! No one can help, a decision I have to make on my own, as himself won't push me either way. Will let you know what Mum says and her perceptions. Thanks for asking.

bigboobsatlast · 23/09/2011 20:25

It must be so hard. Mums often have words of wisdom in my experience, so a good place to get some advice I reckon.
ps. boobs have just one up from a B to a C - so not big really - just big for me!
Let us know how you get on.

WidgetWB · 23/09/2011 20:31

Will do and thanks again. Also do we presume that Leaky's doctors blood test results were negative?

bigboobsatlast · 23/09/2011 20:33

Leaky Leaky are you there? what was the news? Yes, presume it must have been a 'not preggers' as we have not heard... but would be great if you dropped by and said otherwise Leaky!

DH out and DD asleep (for the moment), great having some time to hang out on our thread!
