I am pretty sure I have felt mine moving too for the last few nights. Only when I lye flat though. I do know what it feels like, and it definitely isn't wind, but this is my fourth to this far whereas at number one you aren't supposed to be able to feel anything till at least 15/16 at the earliest are you?? I thought odd that I could feel it, but yay for you if you can -isn't it wonderful?! x

iowmum88 · 23/11/2011 09:15

2nd trimester today!! Scan tomorrow cant wait getting excited now!
Bit of a dilemma today could do with a bit of advice. My DPs grandad has died and he is in the chapel of rest and I feel totally pushed into having to go and see him. I am ment to be going tonight at 7 which is my DSs bedtime and he is having to come with me (obviously not in to see him) I'm obviously ment to be keeping my stress levels down and I still have to look after my DS who is 2 and sences something is happening. What would you do in my position? Have never seen anyone dead before, is it really the best thing to do for the 1st time when 13 weeks pregnant, or should I just suck it up and deal with it?

AlexTasha · 23/11/2011 13:16

hippieshake That sucks about your wiring! But at least it happened now and not after you had the baby I guess? Then you would have the stress of it all to add to the stress of a newborn! Thats expensive though, I feel sorry for you :( Good luck for your scan this Friday though! I couldnt wait til my 20 week scan to find out the 'flavour' haha. It's early Jan, but still too long!!

enfyshedd It could be your uterus stretching? I had some weird feelings like popping and a kind of pulling feeling and the midwife said it was my uterus streching, but it was a bit painful so if yours isnt painful then maybe it is the baby??

iowamun88 Thats really annoying, I would probably just suck it up though and do it. If it means a lot to your partner anyway. If he isnt fazed then I would give it a miss and say you are really tired cos you are pregnant and need to put your DS to bed too!

Question, does the 2nd trimester start at 12 weeks or 14 weeks? My DP says 14 but I always assumed it was 12?

:)

iowmum88 · 23/11/2011 13:40

alextasha the 2nd trimester starts at 13 weeks. I was the same thinking 12 weeks just seems to make more sence.
Thanks for the advice I'm going to go even though my DP isn't coming with me. Apparently they have a room with toys in it and things so makes me feel a little bit reassured that my DS won't be freaked out and know something is wrong.

AlexTasha · 23/11/2011 14:04

iowamum Thats cool that there is an area for kids. Probably a good idea to go! Thats really interesting about the trimesters, that means I'm already in my second. woop!

iowmum88 · 23/11/2011 14:46

I know I hit the 2nd today it's exciting!! jus can't wait for the scan tomorrow. Now they have changed plans and are going tomorrow night but at least my DS can stay at home now.
I have an app on my phone tells me what is happening to baby week by week and I can put all my appointments in there and everything quite nice and handy to have!

alwaysanauntie · 23/11/2011 15:04

iowmum88 my DH's sister was killed in an accident last week & my sil had her coffin in house for 2 days, it's all a bit different in Ireland to say the least. DH & I decided not to view, but apparently she was very peaceful & just like herself. My mum was really glad to get opportunity to say bye to her dad when he passed, but it's all about what you feel personally, don't let anyone make you do it if you don't want to. Hope your DP is coping ok xxx

On a different note, have had to buy more bras & mat trousers for work today, I'm 15 weeks, so can defo feel bump & am happy pretending all the flab above it is baby, haven't put on any weight but what little muscle I had has turned to jelly. I also end the day 2 sizes up from morning due to bloating, never realised I'd have to spend so much money this early. Also have gone from 36C to 38DD already, where will it end???

Wommer · 23/11/2011 23:06

auntie am also pretty certain I have a mini bump -14+4 today. Am seeing mw tomorrow so hopefully she'll agree that it's not only made of ice cream and donuts!
Changing the subject, had my first run in with a belly grabber (middle aged man... Was shocked!!) today.
Whatre your planned strategies for dealing with the space invaders?
Xxxx

Cewafwb · 24/11/2011 06:49

don't tell strange people till you are showing and then wrap your arms across your stomach - they should get the message. Failing that, start the conversation with, 'its so odd that random people feeling they can invade pregnant ladies space to touch their stomachs'!!! x

BlueCrane · 24/11/2011 09:35

auntie and iow so sorry to hear of Sad news in your families at the moment. Hope you are all coping ok.

wommer Shock for stomach grabber already...it really is quite rude! Must say I'm not looking forward to the size of my stomach/bump being a topic of conversation...that being an area that I like to keep very private as it's not always the slimmest!! Already had a guy at work yesterday take a good look at my tum and pronounce that I wasn't showing yet (so he thinks that small round protuding area on my stomach is just fat then?? Angry or maybe it's just me that thinks it might be bump??) I have a fairly petite frame and am only 5'2'' so it's not totally unlikley that I might be showing even though I'm only 13+2!

Sooo tired here this morning though not sure how I'm going to get all this work done, internal review meeting at 8:30am tomorrow (it's taking my every effort to be in for 9 at the moment so not sure how I'll get in for that, nevermind the work that needs doing to prep for it) and then main deadline 3:30pm tomorrow afternoon and then i can collapse in a heap and then I will go home early and pack to go and see my Brother SIL and nephew for the weekend...really hope 15mo nephew decides sleeping through is a good idea this weekend

Better get back to it though...

alwaysanauntie · 24/11/2011 12:36

Wommer I'd tell the next person who tries it on that you'll sue them for sexual harassment & once word gets round no-one will come near you! I agree, way too early for a grabber, clearly no concept of personal space.

Bluecrane thanks, it was a total accident & big shock but everyone's doing ok.

iowmum88 · 24/11/2011 18:44

bluecrane thank u. always so sorry to hear that. Am going later tonight to see him but if I don't want to go in I won't but got to make the effort for the family. My DP is doing ok he's just planning on getting very drunk tomorrow!!
Had scan today was absolutely amazing little baby moving and jumping around. Because I have had a previous pre term baby I get to go in for a trial which should be interesting and more reassuring! DD the same which is handy.

Enfyshedd · 24/11/2011 20:11

Hi AlexTasha, I've had gripey, PMT like aches from time to time which I've put down to my uterus stretching, but this was like bubbles bursting just above my pelvic bone while I was sitting at my desk in work waiting for some reports to come in so I could go home (Gah! I hate it hate they're late). I was surprised thinking it could be that, but it definitely wasn't wind and I can't think what else it could have been. Haven't felt anything the last 2 days, but I'm not freaking out over it - Shrimp might have decided to go swimming on the other side...

iowmum88 & alwaysanauntie, sorry to hear about your families recent losses. Hope everyone the rest of your pregnancies are less eventful than the past couple of weeks for you.

Wommer, I've had a mate of mine crouch down and make coochy-coo noises at my stomach in the evening a couple of weeks ago (although he'd had an afternoon off work and had spent it in the pub) which gave everyone a laugh. And a gay mate of mine also did the hand on stomach thing going "So how's Mum today?" as a joke, then asked if anyone else had attempted it and apologised if I was offended. I wasn't but said anyone who wasn't welcome would soon after be nursing a black eye.

hippieshake · 26/11/2011 08:30

Had my scan yesterday, which put me at 13 weeks exactly. Baby wasn't co-operating, so was in there for ages whilst the sonographer tried to get it to stretch out.

Decided to tell the rest of my work colleagues yesterday (management already knew), only to find out that they already knew because my managers had told them. To say I was annoyed is an understatement!! xx

Wommer · 26/11/2011 16:08

Congratulations on scan hippieshake but cannot believe your managers did that! That's so unprofessional. Are you going to have words? Xx

On another note has everyone gone to a different forum for 2nd tris? It's very quiet on here recently!

hippieshake · 26/11/2011 17:13

I was going to go in there all guns blazing, then I figured that I'll be leaving in a few months for maternity, and I wont be going back. This is just another in a long list of things they do wrong. I'm just going to go in, get on with it, and look forward to leaving.

I was also wondering about the 2nd trimester thing...

GingerLemonTea · 26/11/2011 17:26

Congrats on scan hippieshake.
14weeks today so now in 2nd trimester. Still have nausea every day. Little bump at night so mainly bloating. Bought some over the bump jeans from New Look. So comfy and only £15.99.

Dozeyland · 26/11/2011 20:56

Not finding out the gender! want a surprise like with DD!

Not sure if any of you guys read my other post on "how will I cope"

but thats creeping up next friday ;-(

I really cant stomach the thought :( ;(

AlexTasha · 27/11/2011 12:02

dozeyland what is your other thread about? hope everything is OK?

I am so paranoid about people touching my stomach, yuck. Really not keen.

hippieshake congrats on the scan, mine was like that too, so uncooperative, hope its not like that when it comes out! demon baby....

karatekimmi · 27/11/2011 15:24

Finally finished my painting and relaxing on the sofa drooling watching a young Kevin Bacon in tremors! hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Dozeyland · 27/11/2011 21:17

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/1335340-How-will-I-cope-complex-situation

Update to this......

DP is to be sentenced on Friday, there is a very small chance he may get a suspended, but because he has no recollection of the accident, he had to plead guilty for the families sake.

Our last court appearance the family of the deceased came up to DP and hugged him, said they dont blame him and know it was a terrible accident.

I dont know how im going to cope without the love of my life, how im going to say goodbye, how he;s going to say goodbye to DD, and miss DC birth.

i'm all over the place.

SirCharles · 27/11/2011 23:33

wommer hippieshake congrats on the scan. I too had noticed it had gone quiet on here but assumed it was because the pre Christmas prep had started and everyone was busy with work shopping and family/friends. It is also a little quieter than normal on the other May thread... Have you seen it. Here is the link (I hope it works) www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/a1334067-Due-in-May-the-2nd-trimester-more-glowing-and-less-throwing#28684546

Perhaps we should join forces?

I wonder if some people join at the start and then the 1 in 4 statistic (MC) comes through so disappear OR figure out that this sort of forum is not for them as the real world provides them with everything they need right now. I love MN for the fact that I don't feel like I am doing this pregnancy without a team of coaches on standby! No need for a book and no need to fret that I don't have family close by (not that I would want to consult my mum on this stuff anyway - we just don't have that sort of relationship)

I hope everyone had a good weekend. We did the 2nd out of 3 Christmas family visits. Yay. Nearly done and then I can relax .... Oh wait... I lie.... Actually we will move house the week before Christmas. No relaxing for me until Christmas actually arrives! Bring it on!

hippieshake I told work on Friday too. They were lovely. They knew it was what i wanted so they could not sAy anything else. Of course me being promoted this year means they might be a bit sore..... Our team is falling apart so there will be no one left soon - hence jokes on Friday about recruiting a male only team or only women with no desire to raise children. I took it in the way it was intended ie as a joke & wry comment on the state of our team and joked back that HR would have their scalp if they added that question to an interview question list!

dozeyland OMG. I have no idea how I would cope in the same situation so all I can say is good luck and fingers crossed the legal system Takes account of all the facts. The fact the guy was not wearing a seatbelt should be taken into account. Good luck. I hope your support network is strong. Take time to find out where the true strength lies in it and who is not going to be good for you. Will be thinking of you later this week.

alwaysanauntie · 28/11/2011 12:26

Dozey I really feel for you, remember we're all here for you & there's lots of other support networks out there, but fingers crossed you won't need them xxx

Sircharles, I also think things are quiet due to pre-xmas run up, if anyone had set up 2nd trim thread they would have posted the link, wouldn't they?!

alwaysanauntie · 28/11/2011 12:51

Just had a look on the other thread sircharles posted, a few from here on there as well, I'm voting we defect to their thread as it doesn't seem there's many of us left on here :)

What does everyone else think?

CrackersandCheese · 28/11/2011 16:47

Hi girls

I quite like our little thread. I don't really want to be the last one on a thread that is having a baby. Even though I know I am here...there's only half a month before me...does that make sense?

But if you all think it's a good idea then go for it.

In other news...I found out that I'm being made redundant. Cue lots of stress and tears this afternoon.

Hope everyone is ok. Sorry I haven't posted much in the last week or so. We're moving house and my mind is elsewhere.
