dachs sorry you have mixed bits of news. Hopefully everything will be fine on Thursday. Thinking of you. x

cep That wrap thing is lovely, but I am a bit glad you didn't end up ordering it, as I'm thinking baby will want to have his/her hands out and would end up cold. It's perfect for a sleeping baby though, as pictured!

harrassed Hope you are feeling better now with the crutches - you're not a fraud; I know how painful SPD (is that what you have?!) can be. I couldn't walk with my last pregnancy. This time I can't turn around in bed - very painful.

Belly button topic: Last time mine popped out completely! It looked super weird and I hated looking at it! As soon as DD was born, it sprung back into it's former glory! This time I am hoping there is enough fatty flab there to prevent it from popping out again!

Lara Found some cheap maternity tights on amazon: here. I also think M&S sell maternity tights for about £5-6 (can't remember-sorry!)

Need to book my parenthood classes now as DH has forgotten everything about labour. I tested him the other day, and all I got was blank stares!

Blackkat · 05/09/2011 16:08

Dachs so pleased that you saw a healthy HB1, but so sorry that you are going though the heartache question of whether you've an eptopic too, and having to wait until Thursday. It is truly unfair. You do not deserve this sht. Thinking of you and DH* xxx

Blackkat · 05/09/2011 16:13

And in other news, one of my friends who m/c before Christmas and shared the same DD as me earlier this year, m/c again yesterday at 7 weeks. I feel sad, angry for her, guilty and confused all at the same time. I want to be there for her, but don't want to rub her nose in it what with the bump and all. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance, the news really threw me this morning.x

bigmacandhappymeal · 05/09/2011 16:28

blackkat how difficult - I feel for you. My instinct would be to send a card to her saying that you are there for her, acknowledging that it might be difficult for her to see you but to know that you care and then to follow it up a week later with a text checking in. She can choose her level of response. Might be tough for you for a while though.

lara winter coats - I've been scouring the internet and can't find anything cheaper than £80. Even before PG I had hips and an ass so swing coats are about as unflattering as it's possible to be on me. Need to sort it though. Was wondering about the one on the topshop maternity page.

PinkFondantFancy · 05/09/2011 16:47

dachs noone deserves this, least of all you. :( I'm hoping for some kind of miracle between now and Thursday, like the ectopic twin shuffling itself down into the uterus.

Lara JoJo Maman Bebe tights are rubbish, I'd give them a miss. Oh, and I found the tour of the labour ward terrifying too-DH had to drag me into the labour room.... I feel a lot better about it having seen it now though.

I just bought a twin pack of cream doughnuts from M&S and sat in the car and scoffed them both. Blush they were amazing

Daisybell1 · 05/09/2011 18:20

Oh Dachs I agree with all the others, you do NOT deserve this! You are a lovely, brave lady, and I am praying for, and have everything crossed for you for Thursday x

Lara I also nearly cried during my tour of the unit, and I really did cry at my NCT course when the teacher took us through the birth process. I think its a combination of terror and the thought being completely emotionally overwhelming. You're not alone feeling like this!

Daisybean update: that is the LAST time I give her instructions - after being 3/5 engaged last week and gearing up to come, the little sod madam has now un-engaged herself and is flying free Angry. Is it Coconuts who knows about unstable lies and going into labour without the head engaged? They've told me they want her engaged by next week - any suggestions? And what may happen if she isn't? Confused

Velvetcu · 05/09/2011 18:58

yay pink for cookedness :)

Dachs I'm sorry you've had mixed news you really don't deserve this and I'm angry and sad for you :( fx Thursday brings better news.

Daisy how annoying that she has decided to move! Do you think this is a sign of things to come?

My baby stuff didnt smell of weed in the end as I managed to get it in quick enough!

We had our first NCT class yesterday - very good (especially for mr insensitive stop compaining you wanted to be pg DH) but it was a very long time to be sitting on an uncomfy chair!

PinkFondantFancy · 05/09/2011 19:06

daisy have you looked at spinningbabies.com? That might have some info on how to encourage her to engage. My nan was a MW and she said that before she went into labour with my mum, she wasn't engaged at all! Have they said what will happen if she's not engaged? It's a bit harsh on you to say they need her engaged but without any info on what if that doesn't happen!!

velvet glad your class went well. Is it close to your house? Some of the ladies brought their birthing balls to sit on at mine, I thought it was a good idea.

harassedandherbug · 05/09/2011 20:19

Dachs oh lovely, your karma will come good!!! You're owed big time. I'm sorry the scan wasn't as straight forward as we all wished for you, but I'm glad you have a healthy hb in there. Hope the time doesn't drag too slowly until Thurs x

Blackkat as you know I had a mmc and mc very close together. With my mmc my due date was a couple of days apart from one of my closest friends. She was probably the biggest help in getting through it all, but you have to have that initial awkward conversation I think! She didn't know how I'd feel, but I didn't want her not to talk to about her preg, baby stuff - all the normal stuff. So we did! Plus she listened to me as she really appreciated what I'd just lost. She has a scrummy 6 week old ds now,and I'm genuinely ecstatic for her.

daisy how frustrating for you! Can second the spinningbabies website, full of useful info. I managed to turn posterior dd with their advice, and lots of determination!!

bigmac nice buggy! Which colour did you get?

velvet glad the class went well!

I'm currently pmsl watching dh attempt my yoga dvd! He's ever so fit, but not stretchy and never done anything like this as he's a boxer. Most amusing. Have to admit to being a little bit jealous as it's really not suitable for me any more, I'll have to stick to my spd exercises and prg yoga.

On the subject of tights, Mothercare have theirs on 3 for 2 but off to check Bigmac's link. I'm like you lara, never as prepared as everyone else and always with cold bare legs!

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 05/09/2011 20:36

daisy Yes unfortunately I am being scared senseless by all the professionals tellling me what happens. I don't think you have much to worry about though as I presume Daisybean is still head down even though head is free? If your waters go there is every chance she will pop down back into your pelvis. You are only at risk of all this scary stuff if baby is breech/frank/tansverse etc. Many women I have heard have gone into labour and baby isn't engaged until after CX start.

dachs sorry you didn't get the news you wanted at the scan. Good news for 1HB and I hope specialist scan can shed some light on the possible ectopic. FWIW I once had a suspected heterotopic pregnancy, although my second was in my ovary not my tubes. They said they could maybe operate to remove heterotopic. Unfortunately my viable pg also ended and I had ERPC/removal at same time so I can't really say what they will do but there may be hope :)

Crap day for me so sorry for not many personals. CMW not happy that no plan is in place yet. She thinks I should have been granted ELCS, and wants me in for more monitoring Monday plus another scan. Am now measuring 43cms Shock So fed up now. I'm in so much pain all the time but nobody will do anything to get this baby out before 38wks.

CollieandPup · 06/09/2011 06:21

Aghhh I'm shattered after another crappy nights sleep..... so sorry for lack of personals.

I'm not sure whether to be worried actually so views / advice would be appreciated. I've been having mild pains in my belly (bump not stomach) over the past few days which have got worse. I've woke up in the night and they've gotten worse. Really crampy and tight pains. I have thought his movement has been quieter the past couple of days, but as soon as I think that I feel him. He's still quite active, even now. So should I be worried? I've also been sick in the night. No idea why, I've put it down to exhaustion as I only had a feta salad for tea and the pains are definitely in my belly not stomach. So I'm confused Confused I can't help but worry obv, but not really sure I have any reason to worry as I can still feel him. I have a mw apt. On weds (tomorrow)do you think it's ok yo wait till then?

God I'm fed up! coconuts I really feel for you, I really am not looking forward to this 3rd trimester already!

PinkFondantFancy · 06/09/2011 07:04

coconuts you poor thing. Hopefully the CMW will shake things up at the hospital for you if she's not happy.

harrassed Grin at the thought of a DH doing a yoga DVD - they definitely struggle with the flexibility I think.

collie give the hospital a call and talk it through with the midwives. My hospital has a day assessment unit but they said out of hours I should call the labour ward - I've done this before and a lovely MW talked to me over the phone to assess whether it was worth going in for monitoring.

bigmac hoping for good news on MrBM's job this week.

blackkat really sorry to hear about your poor friend :( No advice really - I found it helpful to talk to my pregnant friend that had previously had a MMC but I found myself avoiding meeting up with her in person because the bump was just too much to deal with.

How did things go yesterday WIW?

thanks pink it'll all come out in the wash one way or another

harassed we're getting the truffle one... looks a bit Orla Keily if you squint a bit And I managed to get the carry cot in vgc on the weekend for £45 second hand. Massive win Grin

collie agree that you should give the hospital a call. They'll put your mind at ease and it's what they are there for.

coconuts poor you. CMW sounds like she is on your side but I appreciate that Monday could feel a way away for you when you are in pain .

daisy no advice to give but sympathy for the lack of information. I'm sure daisybean will pull her metaphorical socks up :) I can imagine that it's a rollercoaster when one minute you think it's potentially all systems go and then... hope Lassie is still looking after you

velvet glad the clothes were ok

This lack of sleep business is really affecting me now. I've always been a sleeper and, frankly, I look like shite and my capacity to deal with stuff is edging downwards everyday. I'm wondering how I will manage at work for the next 9 weeks Hmm

OP posts:
wombatinwaiting · 06/09/2011 09:30

Thinking of you dachs and mrdachs lots - did you manage to get any sleep? I hope the next 48 hours or so go as quick as they scan and you get some positive answers from thursday's appt x

I would also second a talk/visit to the hospital collie - let us know how you go. They do say sickness can return at any time during pg....

Thanks for updating the list bigmac - having obsessed about my dates for the first 24 weeks, I had to really think carefully today about them - nearly gave myself an extra week Blush - brian perhaps? He was in full force this morning - gave myself a heart attack on return from aquaerobics as I only had one earring in (v nice diamond ones too that clip together very firmly) only to discover the other sitting securely in my jewellery box Blush

Thanks for enquiring about the anti-D injection pink - in the buttock (I was asked which I'd prefer which threw me a bit!) and just a minor sting when the needle went in and feel fine now. Paid for our antenatal classes and a one-off 2 hour breastfeeding workshop they're running. That bit hurt more than the injection - approx 350 quid - ouch! That's not covered under insurance either..... We're also starting the 4 week classes when I'll be 33 weeks so I do hope wiwjunior isn't ridiculously early.....

What a naughty daisybean! I do hope this isn't a pre-cursor of things to come for you daisy.... can't offer any advice I'm sorry to say but it was v interesting to read everyone else's.

That's the last thing you need coconuts - hope they get their ducks in a row for you soon.

Sorry about your friend blackkat - I think bigmac's suggestion of a card with a follow up text the next week is a good one. After my second a good friend texted to say that she would call in a couple of days but that if I ignored her call she would completely understand. In the end, I did ignore the call but it was lovely to be thought of and a promise followed through and I called her a couple of days after that.

Chuckling at mrharassed attempting yoga!

I can't believe how much my heart is racing and how breathless I have been getting over the past couple of days - I know the breathless thing is normal - do you guys get a racing heart with it too? Just getting changed to go swimming last night got my heart up to 130bpm (I had a heart rate monitor on for the swimming) - it seems to come down pretty quick though.... have doc's and m/w appt on Sat and will bring it up then unless anyone thinks I should be more concerned.... thanks.

My plan is to overtake you all next week muhahaha!! Grin

Yeah right! Lol! Hmm

CollieandPup · 06/09/2011 12:14

bigmac I do really feel your pain on the lack of sleep front. In fact I ended up not going in to work today. I did actually sleep last night-somewhere between 12and4 but that was it. Still lying there at 6.45 when my alarm went off. Anyway, it was a good decision as I did manage to drift off and have slept on and off all morning. I do feel really guilty for having a sick day just because I didn't sleep, but it was much needed. Pup is completely wiping me out as it is, so lack of sleep just leaves me totally drained. I do really think that's why I was sick too. You need to rest and recoup your energy.

blackkat that's so sad about your friend. Is this the friend you were talking about when we'd left the restaurant? I know you were saying you felt so bad as it was. I agree with the other comments about sending her a card or something. Let her know you are there for her, but that you also understand she might find being around you hard, and if so that's ok. I think making sure she knows she doesn't have to worry about how she is about you is as much as you can do- that and of course making sure she knows you are there-but I'm sure she knows that. A close friend of mine was due when I mc in Dec, and I initially found the thought of seeing her really hard. Then I found out she had also had a mc before getting pg again and I just needed to see her straight away. Apart from mn I felt so lonely so having her to talk to was incredibly important. And strangely the fact that she was pg and due to pop was reassuring as it showed me it could all work out. If you want to make a nice gesture, I got a lovely bunch of flowers delivered from another friend about 2 weeks after the mc. Just enough time had passed for it not to upset me and i was really touched.

dachs I second everyone's comments that of course you are not a bad person, you are a good strong and caring lady - sorry the use if the word karma was not very helpful as it implies you've gotten what you deserve, which is not the case, you so deserve better luck and a happy ending. I think all this bad luck means your happy ending, when it comes, is going to be amazing!!! Saw on the common room your gp wanted to see you? Have you been? Hope it was ok.

velvet good to gear another good NCT report! Mine starts tomorrow....EEK!!!!!

harassed Grin @ DH trying his hand at yoga!!!

wiw I'm not sure about the hb, but I'm also easily breathless!

Looking forward to lots more baby arrivals too.... The list is very exciting!!!!!

I haven't rang the hospital. Having fell back asleep the pains were gone when I woke back up and haven't returned. Pup is also very active this morning so I'm not worried about movement so feel a bit silly ringing. Will mention it to the mw tomorrow though.

bigmacandhappymeal · 06/09/2011 13:11

collie don't feel guilty at all. It's not like you are feeling a bit tired because you stayed up watching a box set and could have done with another half hour in bed. We all need our kip so that we can stay strong and healthy. Will see how I get on this week as may be doing the same soon.

wiw I'm also a breathless wonder and I make involuntary nanna noises when I bend I know what you mean about dates. They are still so important but I can remember obsessing about every single day that passes.

I have a new craving. Decaff lattes. They have to be made with full fat milk though Blush

Wombat33 · 06/09/2011 13:31

Hello all, I seem to have gained a day so updated stats posted below. No news from Mini Wombat though. I wish she'd hurry up. i'm starting the stress, not about labour (though I'm anxious about that too) but about something going wrong between now and then. She's fully cooked. nothing to be gained from hanging around in there young lady!

Daisy I think it's usual for 2nd or subsequent babies not to engage until labour starts so I can't imagine it's a problem unless she's breech or transverse. They are probably just meaning that they'll be keeping an eye on you to see if they need to book a 40+12 induction for you if she's looking like she's not going to make a move of her own accord...? My midwife has already booked me in for a sweep (at 40+4) and told me she'll be booking my induction at that appointment (subject to discussion with me obviously), so i think they just like to plan ahead a bit.

Thinking of Dachs and sending positive vibes xxx

Wiw I'm also breathless and heart racing!

Coconuts good luck for monday and I really hope you're not in too much pain until then.

Waves to everyone else xxx

Hi Ladies,

Just popping in to give belated congratulations to Owl, Pretty and Orange, and send good luck to all, but especially Wombat, Daisy, Pink, MamaP and Coconuts, and a special hug to Dachs.

I still lurk, but have been gradually distancing myself from the thread due to some other shit that is going on in my life and which is making thinking about baby's arrival difficult. Unfortunately I think a relative on MN knows who I am, and although I would love to share and get your support, I don't feel able to.

On a more cheery note, I have an entire tub of Strawberry Cheesecake Haagen-Dazs in front of me Wink

Ha wombat - you're beginning to sound like daisy issuing instructions to Mini Wombat! hope they both start paying attention soon!

You did the right thing staying at home collie - apart from anything else, being that tired doesn't make you a productive employee. Glad that the pains have stopped and you're feeling better.

Good to hear from you emoo although not so good to hear that there is bad stuff going on - I do hope they resolve themselves soon, can't be good for you right now. Do keep lurking and eating Haagen Dasz - any spare?! Grin

Thanks for the reassurance on the breathlessness and heart racing. The heat here doesn't help of course and it was so humid this morning that there was condensation on the outside of the windows!

Hello. Lurking still. Did anyone else feel exhausted nag get headaches around 21 weeks? Everyone kept saying I'd feel fantastic and have lots of energy, but todY I've taken the day off and spent most of it sleeping!

Hugh to you dachs

bigmac decaf lattes are loooovely! mmmmm

collie glad pup is moving around lots. Don't feel silly calling the hospital - they've been lovely on the handful of times I've called them.

Emoo lovely to hear from you, sorry things are stressful :( Sorry you can't come over and chat without getting outed too. Feel free to PM if you ever want someone to talk to.

hairy this might not come as any comfort, but I felt like hell on wheels with extreme knackeredness until I finished work at 32 weeks. Since then I've felt fab (although I need at least 1 nap a day otherwise I feel like my head is going to explode from tiredness). Is there any way you can get naps while you're at work? I couldn't really as I took the train so it wasn't like I could have a sleep in the car at lunchtime or anything like that.

I am going to become the size of a house - the jaffa cake box I just ate put up no fight whatsoever......
