wiw antid will sting a bit but the important thing is to relax your arm. the needle goes into the muscle so if you're tensed up it will hurt more. My MW told me to hang my arm loosely straight downwards and I didn't really feel much. I've had worse jabs. Pethidine and cyclizine in my arse spring to mind Grin

wombatinwaiting · 04/09/2011 11:08

Oooh those arse ones sounds delightful cocounts! Thanks for the advice - will practice my breathing and counting down from 1000.

Talking of counting down from 1000, I'm finding that very helpful when stuck with a bout of insomnia - it's a bit more difficult than it sounds and definitely stops me thinking about the other stuff that;s keeping we awake.... (or perhaps I'm just not that good with numbers and brian has truly got me! Grin )

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 04/09/2011 12:04

I always count when i can't sleep. It really works for me. Apart from when there is a baby kicking my cervix that's keeping me awake!

They used to do the antid in the arse so you've had a narrow escape. Grin

wombatinwaiting · 04/09/2011 12:45

Mmm - can't wait for the cervix kicking stage Hmm.....

I had the Anti-d in the bum following last ERPC but quite soon after op so didn't really feel / remember it. Sincerely hope it will be arm as arse is definitely a little hairier than it used to be - wouldn't want to shock the nurses! Grin

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 04/09/2011 17:05

I can't even see my own arse to see it if it's hairy. Perhaps DH will inspect it for me Grin

I think my nesting has well and truly kicked in ladies. All these weeks of being in complete denial, hiding stuff away and now my house looks like Kiddicare's warehouse! Pram is built, cot is built, DH doing little swing later, blankets/bedding washed, I am hoovering and cleaning everything in sight, steriliser is in place in kitchen, and am planning to spend each morning this coming week to clean out all my windows on the inside - victorian wooden sash windows so will take a while. Sheesh, I'm knackered now!

Blackkat · 04/09/2011 19:04

Wishing Dachs all the best of luck for tomorrow, will be thinking about you and DH and hoping that you see a healthy bean and perhaps two xxxx

Collie, Minnie, YRMOTB lovely to meet you all yesterday I am still savouring my delicious cocktails and trying to work out how to make them at home. Grin Hope you got the cabin bed home safely Babe And sorry for being rubbish and not checking that your scan had gone well on Friday..so pleased all was well.

Minnie my Dad has already offered me his old swan lager bag for keeping my baby crap in - this to go with the colander he offered me intended water birth - I know he thinks he is being funny Wink. Your Asda bags sound eminently better than his old beer bag for going to the cricket.....

Collie very privileged to see your 4D scan pictures yesterday, thanks for sharing XX Feeling very, very tempted now that I know we could stay team yellow if we went.

Daisy we were sorry to miss you - no pictures, but we did try hard to imagine what you your sheepdog/midwife/guard looked like?!! Grin Looking forward to seeing you the next time we meet up, more than likely with DaisyBean and Colliepup in tow! Hope you are managing to stay rested with your feet up and OH and DP's ruling the roost (must be tricky?) and that you are feeling good movements. Thinking of you.

WIW your holiday sounds lovely - did you have any Sound of Music moments? Smile. Good luck for the Anti D on Tuesday - Coconuts advice sounds very wise.

Pink sounds like it's time to hang up the brush, shut the dining room door and put your feet up Grin Glad you've made a decision about the birth.

Cep sounds like you're negotiating a tricky time at the moment. Men do tend just to head back into the "cave" if you believe all that mars/venus stuff rather than talk about stuff. But I also know that OH's often tend to want to try and look after us and DC's bcs they see it as their job...so I can understand why he's stressing about money, I don't know any couple who don't have money concerns as a baby arrives - not that that knowledge makes it any easier when you're in the thick of it. ((hugs)) for a good week for you x

Velvet your neighbour sonds like a total arse - really hope the clothes didn't take on the smell. So pleased to hear that you've booked the scan on Weds, I'm sure it will bring you the reassurance you need.

milkys MW started measuring me from 16 weeks, but I think that's just bcs she knows I'm a panic merchant so she was doing it to reassure, in the preggo notes the measurements only go from 24 weeks I think. I've had it done again at 24 and then this week at 26 when I wheedled another listen out of my benevolent mw. Sounds like it does depend on where you are.

Harassed hope the hips have eased up a little now you have the belt?

Wombat how were the results? Hope all ok and you are enjoying your lofty perch at the top of the list x

Lara pleased to hear that you and DH had a good eve at the first NCT class, the cosy atmosphere of a home sounds lovely. Really nice that you have chance inbetween classes to meet up too.

Bigmac hmmm Branstons, I'm not sure what they feel like or whether I have any..assuming not. I'm sure I'd know about it if I did? Hoping they're not too painful today.

to everyone else...I will try harder to keep up and not balls the list up again! Leaves tray of warm blueberry muffins....get em while they're hot (and before DH snaffles the rest! Grin )

milkyways · 04/09/2011 19:43

Thanks everyone about the measuring info - I've just realised that in the morning my stomach is really soft and spongey and then gets bigger as the day wears on, so I may be worried about nothing. I've also been getting stronger BHs - I realised why they are so masked - it's because it's under my flabby belly! Grin

babe thanks - That's interesting because with DD, I was very big all over, but with this little man, I seem to have a sticky out bump. Maybe I am just carrying differently this time.

Cep I hope things get better for you. If it makes you feel any better, we've been having quite a hard time during this pregnancy too. I think DH working overtime coupled with my constant mentalling over little things can cause friction.

PinkFondant Can you tell me where you got your fask mask thingy from? We're planning a full house paint at the end of September when DH has 2 weeks off work - Will definitely be needing it!

velvet Hope baby's clothes didn't end up smelling of weed!

I had the worst night last night. Couldn't get comfortable, so ended up sitting up in bed and sleeping with a thousand cushions and pillows all around me! May have to kick DH out of bed soon!

Yummy!!

at everyone!! Hope you're all well!

CollieandPup · 04/09/2011 19:57

Evening everybody! Where has the weekend gone?!

Blackkat yrmotb and Minnie it was sooooo lovely to finally meet you yesterday. I can happily report back that each of them are simply lovely and not pervy 50 yr old bloke! daisy (and of course mouse off the common room) you were v much missed!!! But I look forward to a 2nd meet and a chance to meet you....

Would you believe I actually used the voucher we got today?! Met some of DHs relatives for lunch in Knutsford and went to piccilinos which is part the chain!

Minnie did you get to the cinema? How was planet the apes? Worth a watch?

yrmotb hope you got the bed sorted....and DHs trousers!!! Grin

blackkat I stopped at waitrose on the way back to the station to buy cocktail supplies! I actually didn't re-make our virgin mojito, but did make the one I mentioned having in Cornwall. It was LUSH! Can't remember it's name but basically the ingredients are (very roughly guessing) crushed ice, 1/2 glass apple juice, squeeze of lime, drizzle of vanilla syrup, topped with ginger ale/beer, sprinkling of cinnamon and a sprig of mint!!! Truly Devine!!

My journey home from Leeds yesterday was epic! Delayed trains, missed connections, dead mobile! I now remember why I always drive everywhere!!!

milky I've not been measured yet. Mw said from 28 wks. I'm 29, but have my apt this week coming.

Cep I've bought a normal bag a similar size and shape to some changing bags. Kind of rectangular, with arm straps and a long strap for over the pram. I liked the pacapods but thoughtbthey might be a bit small and most if the others I liked where well over £100, and what I bought is very
cute and none baby like and only cost £65. I'll just buy a travel changing mat separately.

coconuts Grin @ the nesting. Sounds lovely! But take it easy, don't do too much!

wiw lovely to hear from you! Your holiday sounds idilic!

I am absolutely shattered!!!!

CollieandPup · 04/09/2011 20:01

dachs how could I forget. Totally meant to say good luck for tomorrow! Hoping there is a very healthy hb in there!!! (or two!!) xxx what time is your scan?

katherine2008 · 04/09/2011 20:08

good luck for tomorrow dachs - everything crossed x

PinkFondantFancy · 04/09/2011 20:20

Good luck tomorrow dachs!

milky it was either wickes or homebase. They do lots of different facemasks and this was one that has a charcoal filter. It worked a treat-was painting gloss and couldn't even smell it!

mamapower is your lady for virgin mojotos-her raspberry virgin mojoto is to die for!

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 04/09/2011 20:25

Good luck for tomorrow dachs fingers crossed for you :)

milky I think when I was at your stage my bump was all squidgy and soft in the mornings, and if I laid on my back it would completely disappear. It worried me no end. But as you have noticed, it always got fuller and firmer by the end of the day, so try not to worry.

cep · 04/09/2011 21:23

evening ladies, glad the meet went well yesterday.

I need some opinions ladies firstly do you think that this would be ok instead of a snow suit/pram suit?? or that a proper suit would be better?

secondly, i'm now umming and ahhing between skip hop via messenger or the skip hop bento

Am just worried that with baby's stuff, my stuff and toddler stuff the messenger is going to be too small.

cep · 04/09/2011 21:23

ooops meant to say good luck tomorrow dach

Minnie74 · 04/09/2011 21:54

Dachs good luck for tomorrow. Everything's crossed for you all x

Collie Grin for using the voucher already. Didn't get to the cinema but did get a thai takeaway The cocktail sounds gorgeous might have to try it

Yrotb hope ds likes his new bed and you like dh's trousers Grin More important than him liking them obviously.

milky my bump kept changing size from day to day (or it seemed like it) I even cried one day at work cos I thought it had disappeared too much! Yep I was a nutter! In my defence only 2 people saw me!

cep dp likes the messenger bag but it looks so big to me. Do babies really need so much stuff!Grin I'm tempted by a topshop bag I've seen but that probably won't be big enough.

Back to work for me tomorrow Sad Six weeks off is great but going back seems a lot worse than after a week. Not that I'd swap it!

CollieandPup · 05/09/2011 05:01

Yep, think I'm definitley with you in turning nocturnal pink !! went to bed at 10.30, woke at 12, and been awake since....as has pup having an all night disco! Alarm is going to go off in 1 1/2 hrs Sad god knows how I'm going function to tomorrow!

DiffedAgainDachs · 05/09/2011 05:31

Thanks guys. The scan is at 12 so I'll update you afterwards. I think I'm turning nocturnal too!

wombatinwaiting · 05/09/2011 06:15

Boooo for all the insomniac / nocturnal activity - hope you guys aren't completely wiped out for the rest of the week - I know I'm rubbish when I haven't had my full quota

Very best of luck dachs - everything is very tightly crossed for you - hope the wait until 12 isn't too agonising.

cep -that wrap is toooooo cute for words. You have to get it! (or if others think it isn't suitable as pram/snow suit then get someone to get it for xmas or something anyway!) Prefer the look of the Bento myself but I'm an absolute novice when it comes to all that. Those with DC already, is it a good idea to get a unisex type one so that other halves can take them out too? Or do they just shove it all in a carrier bag when they take the bubs out? I've seen some lovely looking ones here but not in the slightest bit unisex. Oh, and I haven't looked at what's inside yet - only what it looks like on the outside Grin.

Take it easy with the nesting stuff coconuts! Unless you're trying to sneak out babynut a little early!

I've not been measured yet either - hoping they might do that when I have my anti-D tomorrow. If not, seeing Ronald McDonald on Saturday (my new ob/gyn who has the most enormous ball of bright orange curly hair on her head!)

So glad you Northern ladies had such a good meet-up - very jealous I have to admit! I've joined a Dubai winter babies group here and they all seem v nice, but I've been on this journey with you all much more than them. I know it just needs some time though.

Leaves out warm pain au chocolats and lucozade energy tablets for our nocturnal friends x

PinkFondantFancy · 05/09/2011 06:33

WIW don't worry about anti-D, as the others said, keep your arm nice and relaxed and it will be fine.

Booo to the nocturnal activity. I slept ok last night only peeing every 2 hours but had horrible nightmares about bring sent to a concentration camp Confused

PinkFondantFancy · 05/09/2011 06:34

BEING sent. Stupid phone.

In good news, 37 weeks today!!! Grin

Daisybell1 · 05/09/2011 08:39

Morning all

Good luck Dachs! Have got everything crossed for you.

So glad the northern meet went well Envy. Sheepdog is still very clingy, will just about leave me if I'm with OH, but otherwise he's definitely supervising me! I'll try and add a picture of him to my profile Smile

Cep I'm sorry things aren't good with your OH, I hope things settle a little now.

Pink! And you told me off for DIY-ing!!!! Consider yourself ashamed young lady, impressive use of a dust-mask though Am another one planning on starting with only using the Boots freeby changing bag Blush

WIW your holiday sounds gorgeous! My anti-D jab was fine (in the bum Blush), the only thing I hadn't realised was that they kept me for chatting for 15mins afterwards to make sure I didn't have an allergic reaction to it.

Grin at Coconuts arse - I can imagine the response I'd get from OH if I asked him to check mine!

Blackkat and Collie I NEED some mocktail recipes! Can anyone oblige?

Milky OH abandoned our bed at 24 weeks Blush I initially felt bad, but now I'm just relieved given the wriggling/insomnia/snoring. God I'm attractive at the moment Grin

Cep I also lurve that wrap, completely gorgeous. You've got to get it!

Have given Daisybean a 3 day deadline to get here - last night I managed to shave legs, armpits and bits after much contortioning. I am NOT doing it again!

Am planning a day knitting and trying those chewy cookies - will leave the results for all Grin

DiffedAgainDachs · 05/09/2011 08:47

Yay pink Happy Fully Cooked Day Grin

cep · 05/09/2011 08:51

morning ladies.

Those wraps do look gorgeous but apparently are really small according to the reviews, have put a bid in for a snowsuit on ebay.

minnie you do tend to carry loads of stuff. nappies, wipes creams, nappy sacks, change of clothes incase of sick, (ds was very sicky) . as well as your stuff. I like to be able to put it all in 1 bag rather than carry change bag and hand bag.

I might go for the bento as well as i'd rather have more space than keep stuffing the bag full.

cep · 05/09/2011 08:51

fx for 12 dach

wombatinwaiting · 05/09/2011 10:40

Happy full cooked day! Love it dachs! Grin - wishing you as much more cooking as you would like pink! Thanks to you and daisy for the anti-D reassurance - bet mine will be bum-bound.... Hmm

Any news from top-of-the-list wombat today? I've been reading a couple of the am I / aren't I in labour threads - they're really exciting!

You're being very firm with daisybean daisy - a serious well done for managing all that depilitating (is that the right word?!) I take it sheepdog wasn't there to supervise that bit?! Grin
