Woo hoo Orange, that's fantastic news!!!!! Awesome name for the little lad, and glad you are both doing so well.

Velvet I'm not sure what to advise regarding the scan - which do you think will stress you less? Spending £130 or waiting two weeks? (sorry, I don't mean that to sound facetious). I had a growth scan on Tuesday after measuring static at a couple of appointments and then the lack of movements. The scan checked the placenta and the blood flow through the cord, and revealed that Daisybean is a tiddler but within the bounds of normality. If you decide to wait, then I would keep a close eye on movements, and go straight in if they drop.

I would go for the snowsuit Milky, but I'm afraid OH is another no. Men! FX for your test results

Thanks for the best wishes, am definitely taking it easy and have been rewarded with 7 movements so far (compared with the 2 or so I'd have felt by now if I was rushing around). Think that's enough to persuade me to sit on my arse on the sofa watching TV relax. I think I'm going to have to miss Leeds tomorrow, I'm so sorry to be missing out on meeting you all Sad

cep · 02/09/2011 14:00

collie glad 3d scan was lovely. price was only there cause i was fiddling with it. Blush

I saw my consultant today, baby heartbeat fine, blood pressure fine, and gtt results absolutely normal. so relieved, all tests coming back fine so i shouldn't have a problem going to the mlu.
Spoke to him about the birth pool, and he said that they never tell women they can't go in the birth pool as long as they understand any risks there may be. He said that there is a increased risk with being overweight but even still it's small, and as i laboured with ds in the birth pool and had a normal problem free birth last time i'm likely to this time as well.

i just wanted to make sure dh heard it so if when i got to the mlu they said no dh and i can fight them.

i also clarified with him on the movement thing. He said it's every individual movement, so if you have a 5 min of mad dancing and get about 50 moves then thats fine.

cep · 02/09/2011 14:02

oh and i spoke to dh about an eternity ring, i said as an anniversary present as next april if 5 years, if we've managed to work things out and haven't killed each other seperated. He seemed alright with the idea, so may enjoy myself looking for rings over the next 6 months.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 02/09/2011 14:29

Well I came online earlier did a massive catch up and filled you all in on yesterdays scan and then sky decided to cut off my internet just as I pressed post.

Yay for orange Congratulations :) :)

I don't really have time to re-write everything I wrote Angry but just wanted you all to know that scan yesterday was fine, rescan in two weeks, induced at term, not allowed to go overdue so I will defintiely be having my baby between now and 1st october. Argh!! Scan showed baby has hair (was amazed it could pick that up) and he opened his mouth and stuck his tongue out at us as well, which was super cute and nearly made me cry!

That's pretty much the short version, hope eveeryone is ok xx

cep · 02/09/2011 18:38

lara i'm more concerned that dh and i get back on track. For me if i get the ring it'll be a symbol that we've survived. Smile (wish you could do a sad smile. )

CollieandPup · 02/09/2011 18:57

cep I'm sorry you and dh are going through a rough patch. I know he wasn't that bothered about having dc2 do you think that's what it is? I hope am sure that once he/she is born he'll come around. I know you have ds already but they say that having a baby can put pressure on your relationship for a while. I guess it doesn't mean it won't survive, just that you need to adjust. Must be hard though. ((hugs)) Whoop for good results at gp today though!!!

coconuts whoop for good scan and reassurance youll be induced at full term!!

Velvetcu · 02/09/2011 19:10

yay collie for the good 3D scan :)

coconuts glad your scan was good too. How scary to know you'll definitly have a baby by a certain date!!

cep whoop for good consultants appointment and at least you can have a look at rings now - at least it means you have some distraction from DH (or at least that's how I feel anyway Grin)

Thanks everyone for advice re: private scan. I have booked one for Wednesday so may well have an nhs one through by then and can obviously cancel it if I stop stressing by then. It didn't help being back at work today and eveyone telling me I'm the same size as I was when we left in July!

And as if miniV isnt stressing me enough with size issues, I have another question for you. Are Braxton Hicks supposed to hurt? I have read a bit about them and thought that it was more of a contracting sensation rather than actual painful contractions. I had about 3 yesterday all day (I only started noticing them at all last week and only once then) but today I've had it every hour/hour and a half and it starts on my lower back and spreads out across my belly and a few of them have been pretty painful. I don't want to be stupid and be a panicky first timer but when do I need to be concerned about them? It's probably because I've been back at work and so have been on my feet and rushing around all day.

Sorry for the mememes lately!

CollieandPup · 02/09/2011 19:22

Glad you've made a decision velvet on the scan. I hope you get an nhs one bin the meantime but if not at least you know you'll be looked after. Angry for you at your stupid work colleagues!!!! I am sure you are NOT the same size as you were in July and it's just another example of 'ohhh arent you big, ohhh arent you small' comments in the space if a day which clearly demonstrate they don't know what they are talking about and should really learn to shut their stupid gobs!!!!! Angry

I'm not sure about the Braxtons. I'm not as far gone as you so although mine can be uncomfy, I wouldn't say painful. Although I would def say exercise can bring them on, and make them worse!! If your worried but don't want to a a fuss, I'd text my mw just to see she thought.

Hope you're ok, first day back on a Friday is PANTS!!!!

PinkFondantFancy · 02/09/2011 19:35

Just a quickie, my book says that branstons are a chance to practice breathing through them so I guess that means they might hurt?

milkyways · 02/09/2011 20:59

Congratulations on the scans collie and coconuts! How exciting!

I never had Braxton Hicks with my daughter. I felt like a weirdo every time I went to see my MW, as she would ask me, and I always said "no"! But this time, I do feel tightenings for a few seconds that feel like pressure, so I normally go for a wee during them. They hurt me slightly when I have a fuller bladder.

It's been decided, Little Man will be wearing Big Sis' snowsuit, and the embroidery shall be covered with a blue blanket!! daisybell I agree it is very hard buying clothes for girls!

Can I ask everyone, when did the MW start measuring your bump? I'm worried that I don't have a very big bump. I have an appointment on the 13th, and I'll be 23wks by then.

bigmacandhappymeal · 02/09/2011 21:36

velvet my bh's are uncomfortable and I feel them across my lower back as well. Was worried that I'm a fanny so am glad others are finding them more than just tightening.

milky I haven't been measured yet but think it all starts for me next week at 28 weeks.

cep really sorry to hear about dh problems. Do you think it's serious or just the pressure of it all? Obv both are serious - not very eloquent tonight, forgive me

OP posts:
Youremindmeofthebabe · 03/09/2011 11:20

Hey all!

Measuring is done here from first appointment, although not with a tape measure yet, they just feel for the top of the fundus. milky at 23 weeks you should be able to feel the top of the funds around 2 cm higher than your bellybutton. Don't worry about bump size when u standing up. My ds I had a tiny bump, could barely see it at 24 weeks. However that is sooo not the case with this one, unfortunately.

Off to meet collie, blackkat, and Minnie now! Can't wait-sorry you couldn't make it daisy-next time definitely x

Gutted to be missing meeting you all today Sad. If I pm my email address can someone send me any photies? I want to know ALL the gossip too!

Velvet people are so thoughtless, aren't they? But hopefully your scan will show all is well, and you can then take all their comments with a huge pinch of salt.

Ooh, spooky timing on the BH talk - have had a very sensitive tummy all night and lots of tightenings this morning. Am assuming these are BHs and nothing more serious

Cep I really hope things pick up with your OH - I felt things were rocky with mine during the first few months of this PG - not shouty, just that we didn't have the strength of relationship to cope with this. But things have improved, although I would prefer him to be more affectionate. I really hope things settle down for you and you can work through this.

Have made Loopy's energy bars this morning - does anyone know if they freeze???? Hmm

Velvetcu · 03/09/2011 15:04

Haha at daisys "something more serious" you are going to have to go into labour at some point lady! Grin

Velvetcu · 03/09/2011 17:01

Are people trying to make me flip out or is this just pg rage? My neighbour smokes weed in his garden which I have no problem with whatsoever.

Last night I looked at the weather forecast and saw it was going to be nice and sunny so I washed some baby stuff so I could hang it out. Well he's out there smoking while it's hanging on the line - I could smell it while I was watching tv. AIBU to expect him not to do it while my baby washing is out???

cep · 03/09/2011 20:09

evening ladies.

Thanks for the concern Smile. To be honest i think our problems are a mixture of things, he never wanted any kids now he has a 3rd on the way, although we only have 1 here all the time at the moment. Although i can understand his frustration ours were planned, whether he believed i could have children or not he still went along with it. The problem now is he's working loads of over time because i'm working part time. So he's very stressed which obviously is taken out on me, which i don't handle very well, especially with current hormone levels. So work worries money worries. He also a bit obssesive about mess, which with a 3 yr old is a nightmare, has a fit everytime ds spills something. Ds is a typical 3 yr old boy, into everything always pushing limits not listening etc, which doesn't help with what looks to be hearing problems now. Dss was never like ds and still isn't he was scared to do anything but is a complete wuss, and cause the ex is a control freak we're dangling on string incase dss goes home and says something to start a fight.

Anyway we've gotten on better the last few days, until about an hour before we had to get dss then dh started getting a bit stressed. will see what happens when we get back to work.

Sorry ladies a lot of waffle there.

I'm having difficulty on deciding a changing bag, i like the pacapod but find the other section too small and worry it'll be too tight to find anything. With other bags i worry that i won't be able to organise things and will have to search for everything i want. Can i ask what you ladies went for in the end??

velvet that would drive me round the bend as well. did the washing smell of it in the end?

milky i've only just started being measured at around the 30 week mark.

right i need to get ds to bed so i shall speak to you wonderful ladies tomorrow. I hope the meeting went well today.

Minnie74 · 03/09/2011 23:47

Just popping in to say the meet up was lovely today -really nice to put some faces to names. We missed you mouse and daisy but I'm sure there'll be more chances. Daisy hope you've been putting your feet up with your little sheepdog guard Smile

milky my midwife said I'd start to be measured on my next visit in 2ish weeks when I'll be 28 weeks.

cep sorry you're having such a stressful time with dh. Men are so tricky to help when they're stressed as they don't seem to like to talk it out as much as women do. And being hormonal doesn't help either does it? My fuse-especially for crying-seems tonnes shorter now.
With regard to the changing bags, I like the pacapod too. I need the help to be organised! I agree that the other bit seems small though and I don't want to have to carry a million bags. I thought about just buying a nice big handbag and then getting some kind of little organising bags to put in it. Then at least I've got a bag I really like and not just one that I feel I should have. Probably won't decide for weeks and be stuck with carrier bags Grin

will try to catch up better tomorrow x

PinkFondantFancy · 04/09/2011 09:02

Hello all

Lame catch up as on phone but have been lurking over last few days.

velvet I would have rage too. My charming neighbours decided to fire up a BBQ with an entire pack of firelighters when I had all my baby clothes on the line. Hopefully your clothes didn't smell of weed?

CEP sorry you're having a hard time :(

milky I think your pramsuit idea sounds fine-these things cost way too much money to have specific girl/boy stuff.

My house is about to burst at the seams. I live in a 2 up 2 down whhich would be fine except I'm waiting to get carpets fitted in the baby's room and they can't come for another fortnight, so the cot etc that we colllected yest are in the dining room. The dining room also contains the pram we collected yest and need to build. We are also painting the lounge this weekend so the contents of the lounge are also in dining room!! Arghghg streeeeeessss!! The painting is caning my hips but am cracking on regardless as if the baby comes now it will be a nightmare! DH and I did the emulsion yesterday, just got to gloss today. I've got a v glam face mask ventilator thingy that works a treat, can't smell the paint fumes at all!

Oh on the homebirth thing, I think ice bottled it and will be sticking with hospital-just too far from the hospital to relax at home I yhink...

Hope everyones having a more chilled weekend!! Grin

PinkFondantFancy · 04/09/2011 09:04

Haha Minnie I'll probably have Asda bags hanging off my pram due to bag indecision too!! Planning to start with the Boots freebie and see how it goes.

Oh top tip I got off a friend with 3 kids-put a spare nappy in your car glovebox-I thought that was a genius idea and is bound to save my bacon at some point!

wombatinwaiting · 04/09/2011 10:33

Hi everyone and sorry for lack of posting for aaaaages. We were away on hols in the Bavarian Alps (picture postcard gorgeous and loads of fresh air, sunshine and greenery - heaven!)

Soooooo thrilled to read about the safe arrivals of baby Robin for theowls and baby Huw for theoranges - many, many congrats to you all Grin Grin.

Lots of other good news on scans etc. which was great to read - would love to do individual namechecks but this post could end up v v long!

Sorry that some of you have had some worrying - daisy, coconuts, velvet - here's to a very uneventful remaining few weeks.

Fellow marsupial wombat - eek! How does it feel being at the top?!

Interesting to read the BH talk - does it always go around the back, or can it be described as a generally tightening at various places around the front? Have definitely had a few of those - not painful, more interesting than anything.

On the movements thing, I read some great stuff in the Pregnancy Bible yesterday about what bub is up to at this stage - 40% of the time is "inactive sleep" when we won't feel anything. I can't remember the percentages for the other bits, but will look it up when I get home and post it- I found it very reassuring.

Off for my anti-D injection on Tues - any experience / advice on how much it may hurt?!
