Just realised x-posts with velvet Totally understand you rage at mum, and I suppose she will also lecture you on not talking it easy!

Velvetcu · 28/08/2011 21:15

What's up coconuts

Hi collie Smile

Blackkat · 28/08/2011 22:37

Quick post - I followed Daisy's lead and bought a wrist band from the Count the Kicks website - it's an easy way to count the kicks, it takes you to twelve and then you start again. I make a tally on my hand each time I get to twelve, and so I've a rough idea of how many I get in a normal day. They cost £3 and are worth every penny. I had a "quiet" day on Thursday but when I counted up I was only 10 out from the last few days so was able to calm down. Paranoid moi?? Smile

Hope you all have nice BH Mondays.

CollieandPup · 28/08/2011 22:50

Oh blackkat I've been meaning to get one of those. I remember daisy mentioning them. Do you literally count 10kicks? I don't really understand the counting to 10 thing. It tells me to do this in my pg book, but I wondered if I felt 10 kicks all day would this be enough? Seems odd to me as I can feel 10 kicks in 5 mins. I did start filling in the daily kick monitoring forms off the count the kick website but it's hard work keeping it up and it all really stopped while I was away.

Will go and investigate the bands.

Blackkat · 28/08/2011 22:53

Yes the 10 thing threw me too Collie, that's why I make a tally everytime I get to twelve, then start over. I know roughly usually how many I'll have during the full day. And that's before the nightly 3am disco Smile
Hope you had a lovely anniversary - 5 years... congratulations xx

CollieandPup · 28/08/2011 23:00

Grin blackkat pup is the same!! As soon as I get in bed he perks up, but at 2am it's like a disco going on in there! Doing my best to stay away from sugary food and drink for a bit too as I ate a sticky Chinese on Friday night and shared a big coke a huge bag of popcorn with DH at the cinema last nigytband pup went mental after both!

Thanks for the congrats! I know I can't believe where th 5 years have gone! And we've been together 11 years!! It's a miracle we are both still living Smile

How's things with you? Minikat behaving? Hows your dad doing by the way?

cep · 29/08/2011 08:29

morning ladies,

collie glad to see you had a good trip away.

velvet sorry about your mum upsetting you.

blackkat have to admit i was thnking about those bracelets as well, but i was thinking is it literally every kick you feel or every session of movements???

baby has been a little quiet over the last few days, only subtle movements none of those painful kicks or massive turns, but again i've ben busy moving ds into his new bedroom, so am planning on trying to concentrate a bit harder today to feel them. I'm off this week as well so hopefully that'll help.

hope everyone has a fab day.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 29/08/2011 09:51

Yeah scan is good as I get to see baby again but I'm just worried about the outcome. He is so big already and the fluid is excessive so I'm just trying to prepare myself for each eventuality. Either the fluid will have gone up, down or stayed the same. Either they'll monitor me more or just have me in (I want the latter) but don't want to build my hopes up for one result and be disappointed if I get the other. Everyone keeps telling me how they won't let me go full term so I'll be so miffed if I end up overdue.

TMI sorry - had stomach ache and the runs for past two days as well and I'm on constant alert in case things happen naturally then it'll be panic stations.

I just feel like I have never relaxed into this at all and I'm a bit annoyed with myself for it.

sorry for me, me me

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 29/08/2011 09:54

cep that's how the kicks went for me. They turned into what I described as really subtle pushes instead of thuds and kicks and it was like that for a whole day before I had a day and a half of nothing at all so please do take the time to concentrate on some movements today :)

Blackkat · 29/08/2011 09:55

Coconuts hope the scan goes ok and that you're tummy settles down soon. ((hugs))

Cep i've looked on their website but it's not clear what to record, so I'm just doing each kick, and then keeping track of how many times I get to 12.

Collie we're 5 years this year too, been together 10, it feels like it's flown by!
Thanks for asking about Dad, he's finished the radiotherapy, and is now waiting for an appt to see the oncologist to learn how successful it's been. I think this is the worst bit. Sad I'm more worried now than i've been since I found out in Jan.

to everyone

Minnie74 · 29/08/2011 18:57

coconuts fingers crossed for the scan and I hope you feel better soon stomachache wise

Blackkat the kick counting bracelet sounds a good idea to me too. The wriggler seemed a bit quiet yesterday but I didn't really have anything to compare it to. Much more movement today. Going to go look at the bracelets x

Collie congrats on 5 years. Hope we're still on for the Saturday meet up- looking forward to it. Smile

velvet aaargh to your mum!

My back has been killing me today -mainly at the top so I'm off to make the Perfectly Squishy Cookies I found on the mn recipe list to cheer myself up! And also as a sorry to DP who got a bit of a mouthful this morning as he'd washed my cold handwash favourite cardie on a 40 degree wash Angry - not his fault really, he was only trying to help but my flip to irrational side did come out a bit Blush Grin

Daisybell1 · 29/08/2011 22:45

Evening all, will post properly tomorrow but have just had major scare. Got to 5pm and realised had only felt 5 movements today so ended up at hospital. It took an hour to get a trace they were happy with (although being plied with sandwiches and cake wasn't too bad) and have instructions to go back in tomorrow if the same happens again. Think she's determined to give us all heart attacks before she even arrives!

Velvetcu · 30/08/2011 08:45

Oh no daisy sorry you've had a scare. I hope everything's ok today

Velvetcu · 30/08/2011 08:46

Oh and Minnie how were the cookies?

Daisybell1 · 30/08/2011 09:35

Thank you Velvet, just had a call saying we've got to see the consultant this morning, hopefully just routine but am I bad that part of me thinks that if she's going to struggle and panic us for the next few weeks, then i'd rather they just get her out now... Am currently waiting for the health visitor who's coming for a pre-natal visit, plus having to calm down my mother who is also visiting at this time! Life is never simple, is it?

bigmacandhappymeal · 30/08/2011 09:49

Just nipping in

daisy FX that all is OK. ((hugs)) for you. Let us know how you get on later. Simple? Ha.

PinkFondantFancy · 30/08/2011 10:27

Popping in too. velvet can completely understand why you have rage, I would too!

daisy so sorry you've had a scare. Do they have any idea what might be causing the reduced movements? I don't think it's crazy that you're thinking the way you are, I would be too - she's fully cooked now anyway. I guess they might put you on daily monitoring, that's what happened to one of the girls at my yoga class. Definitely go with your gut instinct though - is someone going with you to the hospital? I find it hard to argue against the doctors but it might be easier if you have some moral support?

Waves to everyone else!

Thank you for the messages

We're back, and so far, we're all fine. OH came with me which was a good support (although he is also leaning towards the whip her out now rather than carry on being stressed for weeks).

Anyway, they did a growth scan and all seemed ok - she's on the smaller side but within normal ranges, and the blood flow/liquid levels are good. The only panic is that my blood pressure is all over the place so I'm going to have to see my CMW regularly and go back if that shoots up or if the movements stop again.

Collie re reduced movements, they told me to go straight back in if the movements stop - ie if I get to 6pm and have only have had 5 or so, then they want me back. They told me that each kick was to be counted individually. Am Envy of your batches of 10 - Daisybean is lucky to manage that by 5pm!

How are you Coconuts - when is your next scan?

< stamps feet impatiently lurks for Minnies cookie update>

Blackkat · 30/08/2011 15:21

daisy been thinking of you all day - so pleased all went well, and that you are being regularly monitored. Please don't feel any pressure to be come on Saturday (although of course would be lovely to see you). I'm sure we'd all rather you kept the BP down and the travelling to a minimum! xx

bigmacandhappymeal · 30/08/2011 15:27

Really glad to hear that the appt went well daisy. Are you able to take it easy (my complete lack of medical knowledge tells me this will help your blood pressure but is probably a nonsense)

blackkat I meant to say earlier that I didn't realise your dad was having and has just come to the end of radiotherapy. That must be very difficult and I just wanted to acknowledge that really. Stating the complete obvious, but I really hope all is OK at his follow-up.

I bought a count the kicks band at lunch. My little tally chart tells me that I've felt 11 kicks or squirms since I got to work.

cep how's the start of the week off going?

coconut and in fact everyone, I think it's time for a Tuesday after the bank holiday group (((HUG))) It's been a bit up and down over the last couple of days so here's to a calm, kicky 4 day week.

owl and pv how is life on the other side? Tell us some things to make us smile.

Oh, and dachs I could never reveal my true identity (except at the London meet up)...

OP posts:
ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 30/08/2011 15:41

daisy really pleased the growth/doppler scan went well. The weight estimates aren't an exact science though so don't worry yourself with that. Defintiely try to rest yourself as blood pressure is hard to maintain. Although saying that, everyone is telling me to rest but it isn't easy!

My scan is on Thursday at 11.25. I am ok thank you, just gettting impatient with myself, trying to second guess what will be said which is silly of me but normal I think.

mac Tuesday higs all round :)

I seem to scarily close to the top of that list.... please stop updating it so regularly!! Grin

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 30/08/2011 15:41

Pahaha... I'm sure higs are nice but hugs are better Grin

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 30/08/2011 15:46

Can I get a general consensus on names and the etiquette of using someone elses selection?

We are crappily nameless at the moment and will have a completely nameless child at this rate. A friend has just had a baby and called him a name I quite like but which happens to be the same name as one of my brothers. Would it be weird to use this name, although the longer version (she has called her baby just the nickname, my bro is the full version) and would it be weird to name my baby after my brother when DD isn't named after anyone? Will my other brother be miffed I haven't used his name?

Don't want to post in baby names as they just suggest things I don't like.

cep · 30/08/2011 15:52

afternoon ladies

daisy sorry you had a scare but glad she's ok and the staff have been so helpful.supportive.

coconuts baby got active again last night thank heavens, but being active really quietens him/her down, wish i could get away with not moving all week.
Remind me when your next scan is??

blackkat fx for your dad hon.

bigmac Where did you get your band from? I thought you could only get them online. Start of week has been very busy, we're moving ds over to his new room, so we've been sorting toys and clothes and moving baby stuff into little bedroom.

I also walked with dh to pick ds up from nursery, omg am i aching now.

oh and i may be starting a new addiction along with cola jubbly's, i had a muller dark cherry and choc sprinkles yoghurt earlier and i don't know if it's cause i'm hungry but i think i'm in love. Grin

stir fry for dinner tonight yum.
