Hi everyone!

Firstly a big congratulations to the new arrival owl!

I had my scan yesterday - everything was fine and baby was VERY active and healthy. I'm just worried about the head circumference measurement as it was a bit small, but hopefully it is just a family genetics thing and nothing to worry about. I also found out I am having a little boy - which will be a brand new experience for me!

I've taken out a whole load of baby vests out of storage, and washed my DD's old snow suit. Seems alot more real now. Have also taken the courage to tell a few people including family. I just wish this time to go by quicker now so I can hold my little man!!

Hope I can make a gradual transition from the freak out room to here with you lovely ladies over the next few weeks!

IreneHeron · 23/08/2011 19:31

PV what a lovely post, we'll all be thinking of you now as you're top of the list.

Bigmac sadly that isn't a rare kind of thing to happen in this house. I'm a total pig this pregnancy, I dread seeing my figure after DS is born.

LaraandLittleBean · 23/08/2011 20:04

Excellent scan news, Milkyways - welcome to team blue (the whole concept of a boy baby is alien to me and will be a whole new experience!!) Come and join us here now!!!! We still freak out here quite regularly....

Don't feel guilty, BigMac! I too am overly indulgent. For example, this afternoon I fancied a KitKat chunky. I had a half bar left in the fridge from the other day but decided a half wasn't enough - I needed a whole one so I opened a brand new bar... I also have developed a penchant for peanut butter and honey on toast for breakfast and just threw away an empty HUGE industrial sized jar of Skippy. I am the only one that eats peanut butter which means I have devoured the entire jar myself in only about two months.

cep · 23/08/2011 21:08

hmm mint aero oooh kitkat chunky....i want chocolate, but daren't gtt friday.

i have no idea what skippy is, (apart from obviously peanut butter)

milky yay fo good scan, and congrats on team blue.

lia66 · 23/08/2011 21:54

hi ladies,

Also just popping in to say to owl bloody well done and welcome gorgeous little Robin.

mrsPV we love you too and you sooooo deserve your (short) time at the top of the list. Fantastic to see you there.

These threads and the feeder threads are indeed a lifeline, I found these when i had my 2nd mc 6 years ago after baby number 3. 2 more mc but 3 more beautiful healthy children later I am bowing out so I would like to wish you all the very very best of luck in the years to come. Take comfort from each other, share in laughs, tears and lives and as mrsP said

Let the magic live on. xxxxx

Minnie74 · 23/08/2011 22:13

Oh just popped in for a quick lurk and at least 3 people's messages have made me fill up! Thanks PV lara and lia Smile Everyone is just so lovely on these threads, i feel lucky to have found such supportive ladies.

milky great news on the scan and welcome to another team blue. Just about used to the idea myself now.

OrangeGloss · 24/08/2011 09:43

Coconuts I've been told that an all-fours position leant against the ball is the best for turning an oblique baby. Sorry to hear you're having such a tough time, and fx your lo gets turning, still time! My bump's starting less 'spongy' and more 'pointy' which I'm taking to mean there baby to liquid ratio has tipped a bit
harassed fab news on DH feeling bug, it's such a magical moment, isn't it?
Cep time does seem to have picked up since 30 weeks, it seems a lifetime ago since my BFP on Xmas eve
Lara good work on the swimming - and napping! Most mornings now I almost feel hungover when I get up
Bigmac I was walking home yesterday and got an overwhelming urge for biscuits. I bought a packet of caramel digestives, got home and ate the WHOLE packet Blush Grin I really don't know what came over me, very out of character! DH was impressed Hmm
Milkyways congrats on the scan, I'm sure head circ will be fine, if they didn't make a big deal I'd assume all's well. Hopefully you'll make the transition soon, this is a wonderful thread full of equally supportive ladies who have all been through the mentalling. Oh, and congrats on team blue :)
Lia what lovely words, and good to hear you're doing so well

No change here, except I've regained my patience and am looking forward to meeting miniO whenever it decides he/she is cooked enough :) We've chosen a nursery, which sounds crazy but they get booked so early here, but very pleased with our choice. Am too scared to actually commit, jinx pixies are banned, though right?

Purpletoes · 24/08/2011 10:26

Just a quick de lurk to a]say congrats to owlbooty and Robin.

had 16 week appointment today. All ok here so far although LO likes to hide from monitoring took a while to find so I may hold off buying a fetal heartrate monitor as I may cause myself more stress! Grin

bigmacandhappymeal · 24/08/2011 10:50

orange jinx pixies are indeed under a lifetime ban. I'm only 26wks but we are having to look into the nursery thing as it's a nightmare down here. All on hold until MrB's redundancy is a bit clearer.

Excellent news on the scan milky ... joinnnn ussssssss :) and purple glad all went well at the 16 weeker. I too have avoided doppling

lia

Glad I am not alone on the piggy front - I had hoped I would get some responses like that! Feeling like a pig has not stopped me obsessing about the aeros though (harassed is this your fault? Was it you that mentioned the aero bubbles before?)

Just heard as well that my friend has had her baby - everyone's healthy and they have a little girl. Grin

Think it's a lovely idea to rename the thread to remember magic. We'll have to remember - surely between the lot of us we can defeat brian?

dachs how are you doing?

OP posts:
Blackkat · 24/08/2011 10:59

sorry about the aeros Bigmac it was me, I can't get enough of it, though mines the plain variety. it's the bubbles that do it.
Also need to admit that I bought a vienetta on Sunday, again it was the chocolate I wanted, I'd not had one for nearly 20 years I don't think. Mind you DH ate most.

orange I think i'll have to go and buy caramel digestives now too....Grin

bigmacandhappymeal · 24/08/2011 12:07

blackkat why I oughta... :) You're right, it is the bubbles

OP posts:
Velvetcu · 24/08/2011 13:24

I want an aero!!!!!

dooscooby · 24/08/2011 13:52

bigmac - i ate half a large bar of mint aero last night, so i reckon we're quits. The normal ones not quite the same for me though - it's mint and uber sickly all the way for me. My other addiction is weirdly granny smiths apples, just love 'em at the moment.

Anyway, been a bit quiet as work has been hectic. Great news about the safe arrival of baby Robin for owl.

milky and purple - great to see you over here.
lara - good stuff on getting the bee, I'm also thinking that might be the one for us, mainly cos we have a difficult front steps and a tight front entrance to our place, so figured it might be quite dinky for that (although I'm still not brave enough to venture in any shops yet).

So, anyone who already is 35+ or those who've done it before - will I feel like travelling 250 miles away from home at 35.5 weeks for a hen do in late Nov? I really want to be there but I'm a bit nervous about being away from hosp and DH more than anything.

LaraandLittleBean · 24/08/2011 13:59

Me too... "Had" to have a caramel digestive this AM to kill that craving (courtesy of Orange). Now I NEED an aero (the plain choc variety - mint will dilute the chocolateyishness!)

Girl dog is at the vets today being spayed... Put off doing it for ages in the hope that she'd one day perhaps have a litter (I always said that if I wasn't going to succeed in my baby-making endeavours, I'd make sure the dog did!) I am really sad she's having the op but a dog on heat is too much to cope with along with a little baby - especially as her next season would be the same date pretty much as my due date..

Cep - you're being very good. My looming GTT (last week) provided me with an excuse to eat as much choc as possible in the event I'd be diagnosed with GD and then I'd be restricted for the next century. Skippy is the world's yummiest peanut butter - an American brand. Goes particularly well with jam or honey....

New cleaner here today - a fab Brazilian woman who cleans at my gym. Only downside of her being so thorough is that she's taking ages which means I still haven't had lunch... (which makes the chocolate cravings worse).

DiffedAgainDachs · 24/08/2011 14:25

Hello peeps :) I have just booked my first scan. Am now terrified! It's a week on Monday (ie. Monday 5th Sep). Can you all keep your fingers crossed that there is actually a little pup there with a heartbeat? I think I'll be more crushed having got a BFP and then having no baby than I would if I'f got a BFN to start with!

cep · 24/08/2011 14:33

dach will do, finger and toes crossed, but not legs cause that hurts right now.

lara don't get me wrong i'm still eating the rubbish just trying to keep it down a bit. not always succeeding.

IreneHeron · 24/08/2011 14:35

Good luck Dachs, got everything crossed for you!

DH took a day off yesterday for me so I could get a pedicure. I'd been looking forward to it for ages. I must say, it was the worst pedi I've ever had. Must remember to make sure it is a spa pedi before booking in future. Literally all she did was paint my nails, not even a bucket of water to put my feet in. She even got me to remove my old varnish myself because she didn't want to smudge hers. Not easy to do with a bump the size of mine. I keep looking at my feet thinking I can do a job as good as that myself, even in a duffed state. Still got hard skin bits on and the nails aren't even shaped well. I miss my old salon in London, it was cheap and great.

Got to catch up with you all later, just wanted to have a moan. Now I've got to take DS to the library to take back some seriously overdue books.

Blackkat · 24/08/2011 15:03

Dachs have all crossed for you on the 5th.... everything.

Irene what a rubbish experience particularly when you've been looking forward to it and made plans to have a day off. Pants.

lara hope all ok with your dog after the op. My cat won't come anywhere near me; he was sat on my knee a couple of weeks ago and got bopped by the bump, made me laugh, but it means we have a very surly teenage cat on our hands whose nose is well and truly out of joint!

I'm sat here with a droopy mouth after having to have a temporary filling at the dentist; I also had to have my teeth scraped, yuk. I blame the child toothpaste I was using and the industrial quantities of chocolate I've been eating.

dooscooby · 24/08/2011 15:28

dachs well done on the scan booking - will be crossing everything ever so tightly for you on the day.

irene what a pants pedicure - can't believe they asked you to take off the polish yourself - frickin' cheek! I hate it when something is supposed to be a treat isn't - my mani/pedi the day before my wedding day was a disaster, ended up asking for some money back and my nail polish flaking off, my dh could have done a better job and it was a pricey london spa!

CollieandPup · 24/08/2011 15:41

Just on way back home, trying to catch up on all the lovely chatter. Won't post properly as charging phone is epic effort and I've already forgotten half of what I've read.

Just wanted to say WHOOP WHOOP for owl, Congratulations lovely. Sorry you didn't get the home birth you wanted but glad it was a positive experience and more importantly that Robin has arrived safely. Hope you're enjoying it. At 27 wks it still feels like a lifetime away, but it's amazing to see everyones little babies arriving, it seems to be passing so quickly.

Dachs Whoop for you too both for CB devil digi going up and for scan booking. Certainly will have EVERYTHING phyisically possible crossed for you.

Hmmmm Areo, mines the mint variety too! But I've got a weakness for carbury caramel at the moment!!

It's our anniversary (5yr) friday so have spa booked for tomorrow/fri. Might post tonight depending on time, might still be quiet depending on coverage.

Can't wait to get home onto my bed!
Xx

IreneHeron · 24/08/2011 16:21

Crunchies are the bar of choice in this house at the moment.

Dooscooby I don't think I'd have wanted to travel that far for a night out last time as I recall but I don't want to put you off. It is just so awkward when you're not drinking and you can't get comfy on bar stools. I guess it depends how much you want to see your friends.

Lara Envy at you having a cleaner. This house is a pit and I've got two lots of B&B guests coming tomorrow. I've been swamped in washing and ironing but at least the beds are done. Tomorrow morning is going to be mega floor and bathroom cleaning. I must admit to it getting a bit on top of me, I don't have the energy for both family housework and guest housework at the moment. Must take my iron syrup.

I'm sure you'll be pleased you took your dog to the vets once baby is born.

Velvetcu · 24/08/2011 18:02

dachs yay for getting a scan date, I have everything crossed and I think miniv does too!!

After all this choc talk I caved and opened my pack of twirl bites I had shoved in the back of the cupboard - I'm v disappointed with the size of them they are minuscule!!

The pram we chose was the Jane slalom reverse and I love it already although its huge! I want to go out for a walk with it but I think the dog's a bit too big for the carrycot! Grin

DiffedAgainDachs · 24/08/2011 18:08

Hadn't occurred to me you could practice driving a pram with a dog in it as a substitute baby! I'll bear it in mind if I get that far with this pg. Ellie may be a little surprised when I put her in the pram (Eric wriggles too much so it would be safer to use Ellie) but I'm sure she'd settle down soon enough...

Now all I need is a time machine so I can get through the next 8 months more quickly! :)

dooscooby · 25/08/2011 08:11

Morning all,
Really sleepy today, seem to have lost my sleep mojo this week as I just can't get back off after my 3am pee-grrr. Thank god for a long weekend and a few days holiday next week.

DH told me that Amanda Holden was pg again yest cos he knew I'd be pleased about that. I was, so I read an article about it and seemed to focus more on the fact that she lost her last baby at 7 months and they never found a reason, rather than the fact that she's happily pg again. Arrgh, had been enjoying a more confident stage and then started to feel v vulnerable just before bed. Do you have haddocks in here?!

Thanks for your thoughts on the hen irene, thankfully there are no bars involved, it's spa and hotel so will be really chilled, it's just a very long way from Dh and the hosp.

Daisybell1 · 25/08/2011 08:28

Sorry Irene I've had a cleaner in too , mind you, it took the pair of us 8 hours to get through about 4 years of farmer grime and discover that there's actually quite a nice house underneath! The most major discovery was a dining room, buried under a mountain of laundry and exercise bikes! Mind you, I can barely walk todaySad

Well done Dachs for the scan booking - will have everything crossed for you.

Welcome Milky many congrats on team blue!

Orange time is flying here too - I have far too much to do before this one arrives, there is absolutely no way she can be early

Lara hope your pooch's op went ok - I know it must feel a wrench but I'm sure you're doing the right thing - we've had both our girlie sheepdogs to the vet in the last few months to check they weren't pregnant, tis stressful enough evicting scratty dogs from the yard, yet alone trying to do it when 8 months pregnant!
