PV you know you can't say lovely things like that in a roomful of hormonal women! Am sitting here blubbing now! Good luck for whenever it is you're booked in for Smile

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 22/08/2011 18:25

owl Huge congrats on baby Robin :)

PV What a lovely message It's true though, I value all the people who have offered me support and advice from TTC through to now and beyond, it is amazing how just words on a screen can mean so much. There are lots of ladies on MN I would love to meet :)

Just to update on me, had MW today, baby oblique today, been reasssured should SROM happen as to what to do and just got to wait it out. :) Measuring 38weeks on the fundal height though Shock

Daisybell1 · 22/08/2011 19:01

Oh bloody hell PV

Blackkat · 22/08/2011 19:55

Owl congratulations on the safe arrival of Robin. What a lovely name, so pleased for you and MrBoots. Grin Grin. Very reassuring to hear the you were able to maintain control and have a good experience even if it wasn't quite as you'd hoped.

PV thanks for the lovely message, wll be thinking of you over the next few days.

Minnie glad all ok now

to everyone else x

bigmacandhappymeal · 22/08/2011 20:23

A quick ask of the ladies who have recently properly graduated ... when you have time (!) could you let me know what pram you bought and what you think of it now you are using it? We are in pram-procrastination hell.

daisy you're right... where do we go from here?! Confused

Just popping in to witness MrsPrettyGazebo up there at the top of the list
beautiful post my lovely.
So, so happy that you've got here after going through so much Smile

PinkFondantFancy · 23/08/2011 07:45

Hello everyone!

mrs pretty it is so nice seeing you at the top of the list! Your message was lovely :)

daisy there is a post-grads thread, cool eh?? I'm glad NCT wasn't as bad as you were expecting. Hehe it is weird the mix of people you get at this stuff. I was hoping that the people from my group would be more sociable but they seem to largely keep themselves to themselves and aren't really up for meeting up which is a real shame, especially as the couple of friends I've got with babies rave about how they meet up with their NCT friends most weeks etc. etc. Was it just a one day course or have you got more sessions to go yet?

coconuts does your MW think the baby will rotate around a bit more before your DD?

tunnocks are you going away anywhere on your hols?

minnie MW says using a doppler for reassurance is fine, but that you should really get a MW to show you how to use it so that you can be sure it's the baby you're picking up. She did a fairly scary demonstration where she put the doppler on her own heart and got a pretty convincing baby-style heartbeat of 110bpm - because of the way it's using ultrasound it can double your own heartbeat so you think you're hearing the baby but it could just be you. I really don't mean to scare you, just wanted to pass on what she told me. Do you have a friendly MW who could give you some pointers on how to be sure you're hearing the baby? Anyway, really glad the cramping has gone away. Could it have been your bowels Blush - I get some fairly weird pains which I think come from there (although there's no way of knowing since I have no idea where they have been squished up to now!!)

owly I've said so elsewhere but I'm so glad you had a good birth experience even though it wasn't quite what you had in mind. Owlet sounds adorable Grin

harrassed fab news on the kicking, soooo nice isn't it!

bigmac how is your friend doing? I can't believe all your uni friends have had MC :(

cep your MIL bringing her own lunch is v. odd!!! Still, more roast pork for everyone else I guess Grin

collie hope you're having a fab time in Cornwall. 5 course dinner sounds amazing!

Daisybell1 · 23/08/2011 08:57

Morning all, very bleary eyed here today - is anyone else suffering with long periods of broken sleep

Daisybell1 · 23/08/2011 08:58

Oops, sorry for the essay!

hairylights · 23/08/2011 10:03

I have only just seen the news about Magic8 :( She was one of the women who have been a real inspiration.

Rest in peace, Magic lady.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 23/08/2011 10:04

daisy Yes I am high risk for cord prolapse, and been moved to consultant care. She said if baby is head down, even if not engaged, then if the waters go the head will move down and plug the hole. It's only if baby is completely breech, upside dow, sideways, wherever, that the cord or an arm can come down as there is nothing there to plug the suction IYSWIM. But she rassured me that SROM and cord prolapse really are worst case scenarios.

pink still plenty of time for him to move, but because of the Polyhydramnios he has a lot more space fluid to move around in, he isn't getting squashed up like a baby in normal fluid levels. Technically still 6 weeks to EDD so plenty of time.

Sorry for lack of personals, got to go out today and DD is going on her first overnight stay at nannys tonight so I'm having a wibble.

OrangeGloss · 23/08/2011 10:17

It?s such a lovely and thoughtful way to remember Magic. I sadly wasn?t fortunate enough to really know her, but she touched so many lives.
Velvet yep mat leave for me and the waiting. I?m knitting a cardigan, but haven?t got very far. To be fair I have apparently picked a difficult pattern, but still?
Collie I?m very Envy of your holiday and meal. I feel hungry even though I?ve just eaten!
Minnie I?m glad to hear you?re feeling better, I wouldn?t worry about checking with your MW if it starts again, they?re used to calls like that
Bigmac that sounds like an eventful lunch! How did the shopping with MrBigmac go? How wonderful that he felt happymeal too :)
Owl congrats again on Owlet?s arrival, and such a lovely and fitting name. I hope you are enjoying your snuggles Envy :)
Tunnocks yay for so little time left at work! It?s such a relief to actually finish and not have that panic about finishing everything
PV such lovely words, I?m thinking of you and a safe arrival of your LO
Coconuts there?s time yet for turning, mine was oblique until around 34 weeks then just turned. Are you doing the ball exercises? I?d been doing them not sure if that is what helped
Daisy and Pink I?ve heard that the NCT group gets closer after all the babies arrive, not sure if that?s true. Mine seem nice but not all are keen on meeting up, so I?ll have to wait and see I suppose. There?s a Bumps and Babes meet up every week, and everyone seems really nice there, so there must be something similar in your area. And CONGRATS on being term Grin
Cep how strange of mil to bring her own food. Her loss, everyone else?s gain :)

I?m trying to settle in for a wait here, trying to not be too impatient, but I feel so helpless just waiting. I?ve been doing lots of ball bouncing and walking, though :) When I came out of hospital I had everyone texting me daily for news, but I?ve reminded them it could be another 3 weeks-odd if overdue, so they?ve calmed down a bit now. Good news is that my MW said that as I was 2.5cm dilated when I was in it is unlikely to un-dilate, so hopefully that?s some ground work done already Grin

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 23/08/2011 10:25

orange I have a ball that I bounce on and it makes my pelvis feel much better but then my back starts to ache so not sure if I'm doing something wrong? I suppose the only problem is that because there is too much water he can just float in and out of position as many times a day as he wants to. There is nothing keeping him in a position unless my fluid starts to decrease. He'll not stay head down while my fluid is increasing. Fighting alosing battle really. Hopefully, my fluid may decrease over time, that's my only hope!

harassedandherbug · 23/08/2011 10:25

Morning!

Lovely news! Huuuge congratulations to Owl on the safe arrival of Robin. So pleased for you lovely, and your birth story sounds lovely and positive. Enjoy your baby moon, savour every minute of this time.

PV what a lovely message

BigMac dh felt movement last night!! How freaky after we were "talking" about it. Bug has def moved though which prob explains the decrease in movements over the weekend. He was building up to it!!

Minnie I struggled at first to tell the difference between mine and baby's hb, but have it sussed now. My placenta is anterior, so that explains a lot for me I think! My mw was really helpful though, and early on the gp found it at 12+5ish but right down by my pubic bone. In general I've found the Bug to be a lot lower than the size of my bump suggests Hmm.

I'm pram obsessed too!! I want a Bugaboo Cam, and am going to get a second hand one. Just waiting on a Best Offer one on Ebay at the moment. Otherwise it was going to be a new Babystyle Oyster. I'd love a Mima Xari, but they're mega bucks too.... So I'm sticking with a Bug for my Bug!

Also wondering where we graduate to from here. I haven't joined an Antenatal thread as I just couldn't early on, and now they're all matey and I don't want to!

toomuchteaching · 23/08/2011 10:50

Just rushing in to say woohoo to MrsPV at topofthelistness!

You must all head over to the post-grads thread (I'd link but I'm on my phone) although it is a bit quiet as for some reason we're all pretty busy!

My NCT group are much friendlier now we've actually had the babies, I guess we have more in common now.

And as for buggies I literally love my iCandy peach, it is amazing!

bigmacandhappymeal · 23/08/2011 11:22

Really glad there is a post-grads thread toomuch and can't imagine for a minute why it might be quiet over there :)

harassed I am chuffed that MrHarassed has felt the bug. That's great timing. I am also toying between a bugaboo cam (but again on ebay rather than new as we don't have the ££) and the oyster but haven't had the chance to try out an icandy yet - will this Saturday. Was put off the Oyster a bit as MrBigMac is a lanky so and so and his foot caught the frame when we were parading round mothercare.

orange Shopping with MrB went v well thanks - he gets it now! FX for you that miniorange decides to step it up a bit!

coconuts hope your wibble has passed? Is DD away for one night and what are you doing with the time (sorry if I've missed it)? Sounds like the medical team have got your care well under control and you sound very calm. A ((hug)) for you is in order I think...

No news from my uni friend yet so am getting a bit anxious. I'm sure all is fine... It's funny pink, I knew one of them had had a MC but is not a talker like me so couldn't really share but it all came out when we were planning the get-together and I mentioned that I was meeting Southern grads the next day... there's a real range of experiences as well - multiple MC, ectopic, MMC.

daisy deep breaths! I wondered if I would get your gander up when I posted the pram message last night Grin . You've got the same list as me!

ps wombat all quiet from you recently, how are you doing over there? Settled in yet?

OP posts:
ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 23/08/2011 13:40

Wibble has not passed Grin I'm more nervous than a nervous thing! DD is very particular and has to have the routine. She has never slept away from us in 3.5 years but it needs to be done else we'll be stuck when I go into labour. Have no idea what we're doing with our time, I can't go out and drunk Grin and can't seem to stay awake past 9 so just a quiet night in I guess. Calm.... me.... pahaha! Grin Hope you hear from yuor uni friend soon :)

bigmacandhappymeal · 23/08/2011 13:49

How about (what would normally be) an inappropriately sweary/nudey film watched early evening when normally you would be watching octanaughts, take-away, bath with door open as you can be uninterrupted and bed for some quality Mr&MsCoconut time?

I remember the first time I stayed away from home. Was about the same age and stayed at my nanna's. We watched 3-2-1 (with Dusty Bin), Dallas (amazing) and I gave the dog it's evening biscuit treat. I thought I was the bees knees :)

OP posts:
Blackkat · 23/08/2011 14:16

bigmac your first night away from home story rang so many bells for me, my only addition would be that I ripped my skirt on the slide at the park and my nanna didn't tell me off and mended it so my Mum didn't notice, happy days Smile

coconuts I hope your quiet night goes well, an early night does sound in order!

owlbooty · 23/08/2011 15:22

PV you bugger, you've just made me wail and snotter again with your message. I have been looking forward to seeing you at the top of the list for far too fecking long. I am so, so delighted that you are finally there xxx

cep · 23/08/2011 15:35

coconuts i hope the first night away goes well.

can't believe orange is on mat leave, i remember your bfp. time sees tobe almost flying now.

pv good luck over next few days.

LaraandLittleBean · 23/08/2011 17:16

So happy about the awesome Robin news... Wishing your family a lifetime of love and happiness together - much deserved.

PV - awesome to see you on the top of the list and lots of luck for the coming days. Your words were beautiful. It really is incredible - you ladies are my lifeline. I talk to you and about you every day and have become totally reliant on your support. I hope too to be able to meet as many of you as possible. You're making this pg so much easier. I too haven't joined any other threads - everything I need is right here. In the most uncorny / crass way possible, I love you all!

Coconuts - please try not to focus on the risks / the negatives. Easier said than done I know but the likelihood all will be absolutely fine. Enjoy your evening tonight - am sure it will be a fab advanture for DD. (My grandma is a witch so can't join in with the reminiscing!)

Regards bug-action, my little one kicks all day. I also have a high anterior placenta (assured by midwives that it's "normal") but I do think it cushions the blows. I do see my tum moving frequently now though and Mr Lara has started to feel the kicks too which is awesome. I think my little bean hiccups alot too (must be all that hot sauce that I refuse to give up - with his Asian and Jamaican roots I insist on getting him used to it early!)

Loving the buggy talk. As I may have mentioned, through a friend we managed to secure a 25% discount at JL and so ordered the Bee last week. Very excited to collect it this weekend. The M&Ps furniture order has been delayed by a whole month (shoddy cust serv) and so the nursery is fast becoming a dump.

Was off today and so made lots of plans. Went for an early morning swim and then felt so tired afterwards (swimming becoming harder by the week now!) that I fell asleep and then had another 1.5 hour sleep this afternoon. I feel a combination of drunk tired and also just plain lazy. I guess I need to make the most of it now though.

Where's WIW? Not heard from you for ages it feels, m'lady....

bigmacandhappymeal · 23/08/2011 19:01

Just have to share this here as I can't tell anyone in RL. I have been working from home since late afternoon and just now, before MrB came home, I ate two, TWO, mint aeros. I ate them like I hadn't seen food in about a month and now feel vaguely repulsed with myself but still want more. Am a pig.
