spring Thanks :) Nice to be able to bring some good news to the mix.

Now - someone tell me how to stop mentalling - you lot have all had many weeks of practice and advice now so you must have something you can share! :)

Velvetcu · 19/08/2011 19:17

Dachs I wish I knew how to stop mentalling! I'm still knicker checking and other freakout activities and now I'm having nightmares about miniV being all ok. One thing I have found useful is keeping a diary of symptoms, even bad ones like spotting/bleeding because I worked out that I had a bleed for 4 days every time my period would have been due for the first few months which helped a bit as I then knew to expect it IYSWIM.

lia66 · 19/08/2011 19:32

love the new name dachs x

DeterminedToStayDiffedDachs · 19/08/2011 19:36

Glad you approve lia :)

tiggersreturn · 19/08/2011 19:37

Good luck dachs. We're just back from hospital and no internet in new house yet so can only post on phone

DeterminedToStayDiffedDachs · 19/08/2011 19:39

Yay tigger Glad you're back from the hospital. How are the twins?

Minnie74 · 19/08/2011 20:27

So sorry to hear about magic I didn't know you but you obviously touched lots of peoples lives on here RIP x

Yaaaaaaaaaay dachs thats fantastic news. All my fingers are crossed for lots of stickiness.

Lara another one who's only dtd once since finding out here. And that once I had a bleed so can't imagine it'll happen again!

Rang the hospital for some results from a swab they took when I was in for some bleeding a couple of weeks ago and was told I have Group B Strep. They said i'll have to have intravenous antibiotics every two hours once I'm in labour and then we'll have to be monitored for at least 24 hours. I'm a bit freaked cos it just adds to my list of things which could go wrong!

On a cheerier note have spent the day helping a friend move house which was great (and made me want a new house to do up-and some money to do it!) She did say I didn't look pg though- just wide!! My friends are so kind! Grin

UrbanLolly · 19/08/2011 21:11

Grin dachs Grin totally delighted to hear your good news.....Wink everything crossed for an uneventful 8 months xxxxx

Velvetcu · 20/08/2011 18:37

'tis all very quiet in here, hopefully you are all somewhere having a lovely time! Grin

So, can someone please reassure me that I still have ages before I really have to get my arse in gear and sort stuff out? Yesterday I had my bil and sister telling me I need to think about packing my hospital bag soon (niece was born at 36 wks) and today mil and sils on DHs side looked at me like I was mental when I said I hadn't bought clothes/blankets/towels etc yet.

MIL has also kindly informed me that I shouldn't have my pram in the house coz it's bad luck until miniV arrives. Too late for me now it's been here a week - Daisy there is no hope for you then! Grin Grin

Hello to everyone else xxx

Wombat33 · 20/08/2011 20:53

strongest sticky vibes!

Daisybell1 · 20/08/2011 21:01

And now I'm bawling my eyes out watching X-Factor - bloody hormones Angry

Wombat Eeeeeeek for full term, that's brilliant Grin. And now I'm bawling with happiness for you Blush

PinkFondantFancy · 20/08/2011 21:02

Hello all, just a quickie, sorry for lack of proper catchup.

minnie don't worry, and definitely don't add it to a list of things that can go wrong. They will give you antibiotics in labour and I think that's it sorted. In a way, it's a good thing they found it as I heard that up to 35% of women carry it at any one time but the NHS doesn't routinely swab for it any more. I was planning to pay for the private test (I think it costs around £30) as I was found to have it after the MC.

velvet you'll be fine and anyway, even if you did go into hospital, DH could just bring you stuff. I've started packing mine, and the one thing to bear in mind is that I keep thinking of more stuff to add to it, so the earlier you start, the more time you've got to add stuff to it at your leisure. I don't understand this theory about having a pram in the house being bad luck - how can it possibly be bad luck to have a pram when no-one thinks anything of decorating entire rooms and filling them with furniture for the baby???!

daisy what in particular are you worried about on the NCT classes? Is OH able to come with you?

dachs your news is super super exciting - v. v. v. v. v. v. pleased for you! Leave the pee sticks alone now though please - you've got your BFP so stop peeing on the sticks!!!! Grin

PinkFondantFancy · 20/08/2011 21:03

wombat massive congratulations on being full term! eeeee exciting!

Daisybell1 · 20/08/2011 21:27

Pink I don't really know what it is about the NCT classes, but they've been one of the things which have really triggered my anxiety in the past. I think it may be the feelings of failure which may arise if I don't achieve the 'ideal' NCT birth. Does this make any sense?

PinkFondantFancy · 20/08/2011 21:31

daisy definitely makes sense, it's something I was worried about too. But I think the spin they put on it definitely depends on the course leader. We did quite a lot of work on a 'cascade of interventions' but I went fully prepared to militantly argue if they started trying to brainwash us that 'drugs are bad' - she didn't at all, and it was presented in a very factual way. Fingers crossed yours will be like that too, and that you meet some lovely people in with the deal!

Velvetcu · 20/08/2011 21:47

Smile yay wombat for termness!

daisy I'm just over 30 weeks and I'm not worried about it all so I don't know why everyone else is fussing! They keep asking if I'm getting excited yet as if buying random shit is an indication of this! My NCT classes start in 2 weeks so let me know how yours go.

pink thanks for the advice re bag. My plan was to pack it then put it away somewhere.

My master plan was to have everything sorted by the end of the summer hols since I know that the 5 weeks of work I have to do before mat leave are going to be tough but I took on 2 weeks of tuition for some extra money so Im not on schedule. Which I actually like because im not just sitting around waiting now.

It's true - why is the pram bad luck when nothing else is? And who on earth would want to look after my pram for me anyway?

Wombat33 · 20/08/2011 23:34

I have a pram in the house too. Pah to bad luck! I don't believe in it!

cep · 21/08/2011 08:02

morning ladies

wombat yay on full term, good luck.

dach oh congratulations, i'm so so pleased for you. fx for a boring 8 months.

I am in pain today, went to the zoo yesterday and now my spd is really playing up, my back and groin are killing. and i've got to do a roast pork later. (although i am looking forward to chomping of the crackling.)

OrangeGloss · 21/08/2011 08:23

Sorry I've been so rubbish

Velvet my mil didn't buy or do anything until baby arrived and they coped fine! You don't have to do anything at any time unless you want/need to. Dh can always run to the nearest Mothercare for the essentials

Wombat congrats on being full term! Grin

Daisy good luck with NCT, is DH going with you? I found my class leader very pragmatic about intervention, etc so gave a realistic view. Mind you, the BF side of it was very one-sided

Cep sorry your SPD is bad, but mmmm for the roast pork

I've been on mat leave for a week, and been spending all day sewing various things for around the house, but now I'm done and need to get back to the half-assed attempt at knitting I started weeks ago Blush Grin but will hopefully have more time now for posting and not just lurking :)

Daisybell1 · 21/08/2011 08:29

Thank you all

The teacher should be good and balanced as she's just qualified as a Midwife! However, a friend who did the course earlier in the year found it didn't prepare her at all for her induction/instrumental delivery. I guess I'll take a leaf out of Pink's bolshy book and go prepared to argue Grin.

Velvet you are dead right - random shit does not equal excitement!

Wombat don't panic about the 3 bags - I just have 3 little ones - labour, first couple of nights after delivery, and then a longer stay bag (am still planning on being in for 5 nights). I second the 'putting it away' idea - everything baby related in the house is behind locked doors so I don't have to see it every day, but I know deep down that its organised.

Do you guys reckon its worth buying a GBS test then?

Will let you know how today goes. Cep If I come and help cook roast pork, can I have some crackling?

Velvetcu · 21/08/2011 08:33

Flipping heck orange is on mat leave - where is the time going?? What are you knitting? I was eyeing up some needles the other day coz I thought I might give it a go!

cep I'm hearing you on the SPD, mine is awful today too SadSad I'm supposed to be meeting the others in London today but I can't move Sad my pain also goes right up under my bump - does yours?

toomuchteaching · 21/08/2011 11:32
