pv and coconuts congrats at making me choke on my lunch - hilarious! Will consider thoughts on shiney bumhole and feedback as appropriate. Foof... brilliant.

Bigmac I massaged my perenium last time in preparation, but it really hurt so I'm not going to bother this time. Had a emcs anyway so it didn't make a blind bit of difference. I'm kind of hoping for another emcs this time, at least I'll know what to expect, and everything will be the same as ever down there. Still going to give vbac a go, don't know why though.

I managed to give myself a pedicure today, but don't think I'll be doing it again for a while. I'm going to the salon next week for one then seeing as I'm in Scotland that will probably see me through the summer.

Tigger vbac with twins. Good for you! Grin. Congratulations!

Lara sadly a fanjo to bumhole tear is quite possible.

Anyway, I must go, I'm supposed to be drawing up a garden plan.

owlbooty · 15/08/2011 13:35

Painting toenails I can do but perineal massage has eluded me - really can't reach to do that despite the freakishly long arms. Shiney, shiney arse sounds ace though Grin

YRMOTB Whoop for the 20 week mark! Feels like that's come around very quickly but bet it's felt like forever for you.

Re. excessive tearing - 3rd and 4th degree tears are pretty damn rare. Tearing generally, it seems, is pretty much par for the course. Am so looking forward to that. Not.

LaraandLittleBean · 15/08/2011 13:44

One woman on a thread some time ago spoke about her husband massaging her perimeum for her and that each time they ended up having sex. Maybe we're just utterly unromantic but it's the last thing I can see my DH agreeing to do - he'd just look at me in total horror if I asked him and it certainly wouldn't turn him on. Oh dear. Maybe we're just doomed. I think he's also secretly quite put off me in that way at the moment (which pees me off but that's a whole other rant)...

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 15/08/2011 13:50

lara I had episiotomy with DD and mine did go from inside my vagina to pretty much next to bumhole. Lots of stitches and had to do everything standing up or laying down for about a fortnight but one day I just woke up and felt fine and everything was great and DH says there is no difference to things down there and it kind of feels the same to me so don't worry.

YRMOTB Good luck Friday :) :)

PV Trying to imagine your leg over shoulder thing.... Grin

irene I am definitely booking in for a pedi sooner rather than later. my heels have seen better days.

I have a huge craving for scampi lately. I bought a bag of frozen the other day and have just cooked the whole bag and eaten it. Admittedly, it was with salad cream as I discovered I had no tartare but nevertheless it was goooood!! Grin

PinkFondantFancy · 15/08/2011 14:03

Big up respect to PV, you are obviously more bendy than me!

YRMOTB good luck for Friday. To be honest, I felt nothing much more than sheer relief as I'd worked myself up into a bit of a state, but it was lovely having a little spy on minipink

tunnocks Kinder egg sounds like a good idea!

On this perineal massage malarky, my MW is v. keen that I do it starting at 34 weeks. So I guess tonight is the night Confused. She said that I might need to get DH to help me as I get bigger later on (yeah, right - I don't think I'll be asking him!!) but my yoga teacher was talking about it the other day too and she was saying definitely just do it yourself if you can reach as there's nothing remotely romantic about it. However, the MW did point out that although it's proven to reduce tearing, overall there's nothing you can do to control whether you tear or not if the baby decides it's not going to tuck its head it, or put its hand by its head or otherwise not cooperate. Also, if you are cut or have an EMCS it was all a waste of time anyway. I'm going to give it a try tonight - will report back. Not exactly looking forward to it but then again, I was shoving progesterone up my arse twice a day for 3 months at the start of this pregnancy anyway so maybe not as bad as that???????

LaraandLittleBean · 16/08/2011 08:44

Calling all London / Southern Ladies - our big meet-up is supposed to happen this Sunday... Currently looking at 2pm at Patisserie Valerie in Victoria. Please can anyone coming confirm they're def coming on the London meet up thread... I will then book a table... Thanks!

CollieandPup · 16/08/2011 09:16

Grrrrrrr IPad just ate my post!!!!

Trying again....

Massaging the perineum WTF???!!!! Being pg gets more unglam by the day!!!!

Well I'm pleased to report back that I can still reach my legs and that the Himalayan Rainforest as been cut back Grin might even embark on polishing my toe nails later!!!

Got the day off today (yay) having my hair done! Why is it I can't sleep in on my day off?? Up at 5am!!!! Grrr

yrmotb 20 weeks, WOW! I know, i cant actually believe i'm 26wks!!! Totally understand your worry but the scan WILL be fine and seeing your little bean having grown so much is going to be amazing!!! I know things can still go wrong at any time, but my 20wk scan helped my frame of mind so much, I hope it's the same for you!

owl thinking about you today, you must be exhausted!

Well, we've been working hard on our vw van which has now gone from complete rust bucket to shiny new green, has insulation, Walls, bed and table! All ready to hit the road on Thursday! Wish me luck please ladies as we're driving all the way too Cornwall!!! Eekk!!!

Wondering how harassed wiw and blackkat are???

maybe I need to trip to the coop!

CollieandPup · 16/08/2011 09:18

Ps, call to all northerners too. Please check out the northern meet up thread so we can make final arrangements! Grin

Blackkat · 16/08/2011 09:36

Am here, just leading a quiet life at the moment, big freak out yesterday when I was properly outed because my mat cover was advertised internally and in a national paper....eek. Cue lots of people talking to me about being pregnant when I'm concentrating on not thinking about it.

Same at the weekend when we went to a wedding and I had lots of helpful (!)advice about labour Confused

Midwife appt today and need to ask about birthing options as my local birth centre, and my first choice, was closed 2 weeks ago bcs of lack of midwives. They don't have enough to meet demand at the moment, and this is before govt cuts.....Not keen on local hospital as had too many gloomy appts there and also have to fight way through pregnant, smoking chavs to get in.

I told DH about the perineum thing last night; he looked quite excited. Shock I think anything that leads him to believe we might "get jiggy", as he do delightfully terms it, is an option at the moment. Grin

Collie so pleased the camper is ship shape, I have FX that you get some good weather in Cornwall.

Tigger hope all well with you and the twins, hope T2 is rapidly gaining weight and will be home from SCBU soon.

Owl hoping you're not too bored and fed up. Various eviction spells being cast here! Smile

Tunnocks hope your week is improving? What have you done about DS hair?

to pink, lara, Pretty, velvet, Babe, Irene, WIW and to Harassed sorry those I've missed, just brian Smile

Anyone heard from minnie in a while, she's not on the list, though I thought she graduated?

LaraandLittleBean · 16/08/2011 09:48

Oh dear, Blackkat - I too mentioned it to my DH this morning and he looked totally repulsed and said "well you can add that to the list of things I'm NOT doing for you this pregnancy". Why am I the only one to have a totally unromantic DH?

wombatinwaiting · 16/08/2011 09:50

Hi all and apols for not posting for a while. HAve just had a very pleasant 15 mins reading back on all your news so firstly, huuuuuuge congrats to tigger on the surprising but safe arrival of the boys - really hope no 2 is out of scbu soon.

Was really expecting to see news of owlet but clearly nothing yet - hope you're hanging in there owl and chose the sensible cake-on-sofa option Grin

Am concerned that with Brian around, there may be some unfortunate incidents with nail varnish and perineum massage oil going in all the wrong places....! Grin

PMSL laughing at the glamour list. I would also like to add (well, would prefer not to but will do so anyway) that ridiculous linea nigra snaking its way up my stomach, past belly button, doing a bit of a right hand curve and then continuing its way upwards - am concerned that it might come up between my breasts soon! Blush

Also, experienced a leg cramp for the first time around 4 this morning - unbelievably painful and it is still really sore now. I am anxious as my midwife friend was helping to explain what a contraction is and she said it's your uterus cramping. Given that the uterus is now the biggest muscle in our bodies and my calf muscle still feels as if it's whimpering now, I fear my pain tolerance is pathetic and I will be screaming blue murder at the first BH!

Waves to all!

Lurking for news of pink's experiment last night.....!

Blackkat · 16/08/2011 09:50

Lara I am seriously hoping my DH doesn't know where the perineum is and when he finds out he changes his mind...it doesn't sound romantic to me at all. Just undignified...to add to a whole load of other things! Grin

Minnie74 · 16/08/2011 15:43

tunnocks that's a lovely thought (and something I'd not even thought about) Making a day of it sounds fab.

Congratulatons Tigger two little cuties. So lovely. Hope number 2 is growing beautifully and will be out soon. x

Collie the camper sounds great. Hope you get better weather in Cornwall than we did in Northumberland last week. It rained all week and we kept saying we should have gone to Cornwall!

PMSL at the perineum massage chat. Can just picture DP's face if I asked him to do that! Romance would not be on the agenda! I'm only just managing the Bio-oiling of the bump every day so can't imagine getting round to anything else. Do keep thinking I should be working on the pelvic floor exercises a bit more religiously though!

Anybody got any thoughts on hypnobirthing? I'm starting to worry about the pain (rubbish with it to be honest) and a couple of RL friends have had good experiences with it. Trouble is the courses are pretty expensive if it doesn't work. I've had hypnotherapy for a spider fear-even though I was really sceptical- and it seemed to work to a certain extent- can put them outside myself now instead of screaming for someone else!

PinkFondantFancy · 16/08/2011 16:59

Hello all.

Well. I can confirm that the massage is every bit as gruesome and frankly weird as you'd expect. I would seriously rather still be shoving progesterone where the sun doesn't shine than doing that. Never mind, will try again tomorrow - maybe it's one of those things that gets easier with practice???? lara it's DEFINITELY not romantic so don't beat your DH up over it too much!

collie hope you enjoyed your day off! Envy at your campervan, it sounds amazing! DH and I test drove one of the new ones in one of our rasher moments - soooooo tempted to buy one but totally couldn't justify the cost!

blackkat how did the MW appt go? Did you get a doppler fix?

WIW I am also desperately hoping that contractions don't feel like leg cramps otherwise I am also going to be in a world of pain.

tunnocks that is a really lovely thought.

minnie well done on adding yourself to the list! I did think about hypnobirthing but was put off by the extreme cost! I bought a CD for £10 but I've only tried it once and fell properly asleep. It claims it still works if you fall asleep but I find that hard to believe really!

dooscooby · 16/08/2011 17:11

Hi all,
Can't remember whether I ever said congrats to tigger and her two, so apols if not! Hope all is well and that you're all home soon.
owl thinking of you and the waiting - no pressure for news though, don't want to add to the frustration I'm guessing you may feel!
dachs - hoping that your 2ww is going as fast as poss.
minnie great to see you on the list - another December buddy, yey!

So, the perineum massage got a mention to DH yest - twas the first I'd ever heard of it yesterday from you lot so I recounted the tale over dinner (!). DH actually seemed quite keen, not in a pervy way but he certainly didn't sound freaked out either (oh dear, what does that say about my dh?!). I have got him to rub my waste of money cellulite cream on my butt a few times (didn't really seem to have the stuff pre pg unless I squidged my legs/butt, now I've got tonnes of it all of a sudden!) but I don't think I could take the peri massage seriously, but who knows!

Having a couple of unrelenting symptoms at the mo - one is terrible wind, not always smelly (sorry tmi!) but normally not silent and gets quite embarassing at yoga and the likes! Tried to be respectful and keep it in over dinner on sat night, but then had terrible trapped wind all night. Is this just me? Suppose I should be happy that I'm not constipated as I know that's awful, but it's just a bit anti-social.

My second ailment is that I seem weirdly hot in comparison to other people (even people who are normally way hotter than me). Is it just a phase or is this the new norm for now?

Right, hometime soon. Waves to everyone else..

Blackkat · 16/08/2011 18:42

minnie great to see you on the list, it's nice to have more December buddies!

My reflexologist keeps telling me to try hynotherapy, she recommends trying a CD before booking the sessions, maybe that's worth a go? PMSL at Pink falling asleep.

Scooby I'm hot too, and yes the trapped wind is excrutiating Blush!

No word from Owl today, FX that's a good sign......crosses everything hopefully.

MW appointment was good, bump misbehaved as usual, with lots of kicking, but all ok. And I'm fine to be considered for home birth which is what I want, just to convince DH now.

to everyone else, leaves Aeros all round, can't get enough bubbly chocolate...

bigmacandhappymeal · 16/08/2011 19:45

Evening all...

scoob I too am a windy cretin. It's actually shocking - they are so loud! I am now pretty much no holds barred about it because, as you say, the grief of trapped wind is just not worth holding it in. DH looks on in horror. That plus the glamour list and the perineal massage is just about tipping him over the edge :) ... I am also running on hot at the moment after 35 years of being chilly most of the time. Quite odd.

minnie I have been nosing around about hypnobirthing. I had a dreadful fear of heights and a couple of years ago had hypnotherapy which changed my life for the better so I'm quite open minded about it and think I'd like to give this a go. Was going to investigate whats about locally here and on Saturday I am going to a friends party where there will be some other PG ladies who I will ask as well. It feels like anything that will make me as chilled as possible about childbirth can only be a good thing.

blackkat sorry to hear about freak out - I lurve getting labour advice/tales/horror stories, particularly from people I don't know that well. :) Hope you told them to sling their hook... Glad MW appt went well. My 25 weeker is on Thursday so I'm compiling a list of Qs to ask. After being pro-hospital birth, I'm now thinking more and more about home birth as an option for us.

tigger how is twinnie number 2 doing? How are you?

Finally tunnocks - lovely lovely lovely. That was so nice to read.

Hugs to everyone. Hope you are all OK (Owl? Hmmmm?). For some reason I feel compelled to buy some aero chocolate...

Hi everyone! I'm just popping in from the freak out room to see what you girls talk about in here....PERINIUM MASSAGE?!! That's brilliant! I will definitely be asking you lot for advice about that in the next few weeks! I actually remember discussing this with DH when I was pregnant with DD!!

I have my 20 week scan on the 22nd, so having major mentalling sessions every day. I just want to know that the baby is healthy. I am feeling loads of movement though, and my DH felt the baby kick first time last week early in the morning. I never thought we would share a moment like that again!

Hopefully I will be able to join you ladies in a few weeks time when I am more confident the baby is okay.

Goofy wave to everyone!!
