Wondering if anyone else is having a baby in Oxford this year (2011)? I am due in the summer and would love to meet other mothers-to-be who live around.

I had an elcs at the JR due to the baby's size, and it remains one of the most wonderful experiences of my life. We were in for 48 hours afterwards and again, just great. Very kind midwives, very helpful staff, right down to the tealady. The elcs I had was such a clean, happy experience and we had so much support while there re breastfeeding, swaddling, all of that. Because babies are born all round the clock there, so too are the spare beds filled round the clock so I agree with TMTeaching that the wards arent exactly hotel suites. But you're in a fugue of babyness and so tired that you sleep between feeds anyway.

I could say good things for pages. Good luck!

Hello I'm new to the area, I am expecting our second child on Christmas eve and would love to meet other mums locally.
I see you have a regular meet up in summertown and would love to pop in what times do you meet up?

Jer79 · 04/10/2011 09:25

Hi Lucy,

We meet around 11am on Friday mornings at the Summertown Wine Cafe, and tend to stay for a good couple of hours.

See you soon!

Although actually not very many people arrive at dead on 11, well I seem to fail! We tend to be out the back in the little summerhouse, so head there, and by 11.45 or so you should start seeing bumps and babies aplenty!

Thanks ladies will try and make it, it would be great to meet other mums locally.
Out of interest is there anyone else due Christmas or is it just me with bad timing?!

Debenhams Oxford nurse-in 11-11.30am this Saturday after two members of staff told a breastfeeding mother it was inappropriate and she should move. All welcome, breastfeeding, bottle feeding, mothers, fathers. See the facebook group and spread the word.

Hi All,

Baby Lewis was born on Tues afternoon at the JR. We're both doing grand.

Congratulations Penguin, sorry to have missed you on Friday... brilliant that you made it. Hope you're enjoying a lovely family weekend.

Jer79 · 17/10/2011 11:33

Penguin Woohoo! I was thinking of you and L'artichaut over the weekend, wondering how you were both feeling, and you were cuddling a little baby all along! I'm so thrilled for you and hope E is ecstatic with her little brother. Take care, and can't wait to meet Lewis. Well done!!!!!!

Typically we have a MW arriving anytime on Friday and I'm on my own the week after, so the next two weeks look suspect for me. The following two weeks I have my DM so can leave DD at home and come and relax for a bit.

Penguin Can't believe I missed meeting your baby on Friday! You are some kind of superwoman to be out and about with your baby (and getting across town) three DAYS!!! after giving birth. I was proudly moving from pyjamas to a tracksuit to go downstairs after three days, but outside the house alone? No way, not for two weeks. So impressed. Can't wait to meet him in a few weeks.

Has anyone heard how L'artichaut is doing? She is due about now I think, hope she's doing well.

New babies, it's all very exciting!

Hi Jer79. I'm still here! Due date on Sunday and getting slightly bored now... I'll try and come over this morning, see if I manage to move my bump up to Summertown...
Penguin's baby is so beautiful.
