Wondering if anyone else is having a baby in Oxford this year (2011)? I am due in the summer and would love to meet other mothers-to-be who live around.

Apologies all, notsoDH took the wheels to work today, leaving me somewhat stranded. J wouldn't go into the sling and she's just too heavy to lug around! I'm so disappointed I missed A's first outing Jer. Please don't tell me kittubb was there too!

When are we on again? We're starting swimming on Fridays from next week, at 12.15 in Summertown, so I'll either be combining the two, or could do another day. When do you start ML owl? It must be soon!

Hope you had fun today. Am so annoyed to have missed you all. See you soon (I hope). DH is very sorry!!

Hi there,

I would find a wednesday/thursday meet up a bit easier as my little boy who is 21 months is at the childminder on one of those days. New baby due on Tuesday. I come to Kidlington regularly so if that's easier to perhaps we could meet somewhere there. The meet ups on Friday though are lovely, with a lovely bunch of ladies and their gorgeous babies.

Spacey13 · 02/07/2011 09:15

The set up at wine cafe is nice as we have a lovely little summerhouse to ourselves but I only manage an hour max before my little one starts to get bored and mischievous. Happy to meet you somewhere like Exeter Park in Kidlington if it's a nice day or Wyvale soft play is great for the toddlers to play while you sit with baby and keep an eye on them. As long as they can run around they are happy!!

owlbooty · 02/07/2011 11:30

Sorry I missed it; was stuck in house awaiting carpet fitting chap :) On the plus side, I now have a kitchen floor to stick the birth pool on Grin

My mat leave begins as of next Fri. I think it was mainly me that was the reason the meet ups have been on a Friday, but after the end of next week this is no longer an issue - was anything arranged by the people who did manage to make it along yesterday?

PipCarrier · 02/07/2011 11:55

Spacey and Helen, I'm near Kidlington and would like to meet up too if you get something organised for a weds/thurs. Mornings are best for us. Play centre at Wyevale is great for the older ones, I know my little boy wouldn't even manage an hour Helen without getting bored in a coffee shop - he's into everything!

Hopefully we can arrange a meet-up for another day for anyone that's interested and somewhere a bit different for others in our situation with toddlers.

Spacey13 · 02/07/2011 18:18

That does sound great! It may be a few weeks before I can meet up as baby is so imminent but would love to perhaps meet on a Thursday morning at Wyvale. I will be in touch once the chaos of newborn world has settled down! We can swap notes on how to juggle looking after an energetic toddler and a newborn!

Jer79 · 03/07/2011 15:19

Hi,
So nice to catch up on Friday - I didn't actually find out MN names though, but Spacey is F your very cute sidekick? If so, we were sitting beside each other!

Any day works for me.

Yes Freddy did belong to me!! Bringing chaos to the proceedings. Enjoyed my cuddle with a gorgeous little girl just to remind myself how light and tiny a new baby can be.

CaringForPod · 06/07/2011 08:54

A Wednesday or Thursday in Oxford somewhere would be good for me too. Matthew is almost 10 weeks old and a charming little chap, well, most of the time...

64linacre · 06/07/2011 14:37

Hi Ladies, My name is Hannah i live in Didcot, am due 5th Oct, have 1 DS already who is 2 1/2. would love to hear of any local meet ups x

Jer79 · 07/07/2011 09:07

Hi,
Next meetup is tomorrow Friday 8th July at 11am in summertown wine cafe.

It looks from the thread that a lovely separate toddler:bump/baby group is forming in parallel - Pip/Spacey/Pod would one of you mind taking charge of posting the meetup dates and times here for us, and hopefully anyone joining the thread will see the two meetup times and can pick what suits? Everyone is completely welcome to either or both, and as the newborn babies grow and new bumps appear on us all we can also migrate over! It's such a good idea to have a soft play meetup like this, thanks.

See you soon!

I'll be there tomorrow :) Looking forward to a right good natter and some baby snuggling.

DairyBeetle · 07/07/2011 20:37

Hopefully S and I will be there but later than usual. I've got a physio appt at the JR so will be at the mercy of the buses. (S is going to go into work with his Daddy for a couple of hours so I may also have a very grumpy baby with me as he's still refusing milk from bottles/cups!)

Spacey13 · 07/07/2011 21:24

I'd be happy to post a message for a meet up time. I'll probably wait until baby has arrived (two days over now!) but perhaps early August might be a good time. Still want to come along on a Friday so hope to introduce my new arrival very soon.

Did anyone experience false labour? Have had a couple of evenings where I was convinced it was happening and then it fizzled out!

owlbooty · 08/07/2011 09:40

Bump! Meet up today :)

Yikes, Spacey , how annoying to think it's all about to kick off and then nowt happens - this has happened to a few friends of mine though and it may be that you are actually quietly making progress there and it's not fizzling out as much as you think it is - fingers crossed!

owlbooty · 15/07/2011 09:41

Bump!

Meet up today (Friday 15th) , Summertown Wine Cafe, 11am (ish). All welcome!

Spacey has the LO decided to turn up yet? Hope all is well.

NikkiL · 17/07/2011 12:11

Had my baby on Saturday 9th! All went well (all happened in 11/2 hours!)and he is called Seth. Totally smitten and he is doing so well. Freddy getting used to having a brother but is very gentle with him. Today is my first morning flying solo with both of them. Unbelievably both asleep right now so have managed to jump on computer and catch up with messages.
Hope to bring him to meet you soon.

owlbooty · 18/07/2011 11:42

Hoorah! And also, bloody hell that was quick Grin

Congratulations & v.glad Freddy is doing okay with his new brother :)

Also hello to Nikki :)

I think there is a meet up planned for this Friday but I can't go - my Mum's coming up to help me paint the nursery. Nothing like leaving it all til the last minute, eh?

SAHMHelen · 18/07/2011 15:12

Spacey13 - huge congrats on baby Seth, hope my labour is as quick as that :-)

Still would love to meet with you ladies, anyone fancy a meet one tues/weds or thurs???

Unfortunately can't do Friday and would need somewhere with something for Eve to do like a playcentre perhaps? know wyevale gets busy but could venture there or anywhere really just would love to meet up but can't do Fridays :-( xx

owlbooty · 19/07/2011 09:21

Hello Helen :) Sorry you haven't been able to catch up with us yet.

We'd talked about getting together in University parks at some point but not sure I'm the best person to try and organise that as am due to have the baby any day, perhaps someone in a better position could take the baton? :)

We've struggled to find a suitable venue that is easily accessible by bus for everyone that doesn't drive, isn't a long way for those of us who are coming from South of the ring road, has something for toddlers to do whilst also not making the rest of us who only have bumps/very young babies look a bit out of place. The Wine Cafe is okay for a bit with a small child but I think that depends largely on the mood of the child at the time and the weather (and how many toys one can fit in the buggy to bring along).

Was hoping that the contingent with toddlers who all seem to be based in the North might arrange a more toddler-friendly meet up and stick the details up on here but don't think that has happened as yet? Anyone?

Any suggestions for venues that are on bus routes/more central and have child-friendly facilities gratefully received! It's hard finding somewhere that suits everyone and working around all the baby/child activities people have scheduled.

Spacey13 · 20/07/2011 13:13

How about the soft play area at Kidlington Sports Centre? There is a bus stop right outside the centre and I've checked and the soft play area is suitable for toddlers as young as 2. Cost is £1.50 to get in. I've not been there myself but it is supposed to be quite good.

Happy to organise. How about Thursday 4th August at 11.00am?

itmar · 20/07/2011 14:09

Hi All, We are finally moving down to Oxford on the 5th August. I'll keep my eye out for the next meet ups in Summertown (off to do some packing now!)
xx

DairyBeetle · 21/07/2011 21:07

Just a quick bump for tomorrow - 11am Summertown Wine Cafe we're usually out the back in the summerhouse.

itmar good luck with the move! Hope to see you at a meet up when you're all settled in.

Spacey Congratulations on little Seth, can't wait to meet him. (I love the name Seth, it was on my possibles list at one point).

Hope those that are looking into the toddler friendly meet up have fun!

And Owl enjoy getting the nursery sorted but don't you be over doing it! Smile

Reallea · 24/07/2011 21:08

Hello pregnant ladies from Oxford!

I am due my 2nd in march 2012 (DS is 14 months and was born at the JR).
Sorry for jumping on your thread but I thought you 2011 ladies may have more experience of this as you'll have been for more scans at the JR.....

I have just realised that I have left my blue notes at my mums house (a 2hr drive away) and I am due to have my scan.... Has anyone ever been for their scan without their blue notes or do they turn you away? I do have the appointment letter. As I remember they didn't actually write anything in my notes last time- they just added computer print outs so I fingers crossed i could still be scanned and take them with me? Any ideas?

Thank you!
