Wondering if anyone else is having a baby in Oxford this year (2011)? I am due in the summer and would love to meet other mothers-to-be who live around.

PenguinArmy : I know! We are almost in the same situation! It will be fun to stay in touch. What is the other Oxford thread about?

Jer79 : thanks for all the infos about Summertown! It becomes more and more exciting to move there! And a big thank for the "Gouter club". I will absolutely go there with my kids.

Cant wait to meet you in Oxford!

hello ladies, new babies and bumps!

i joined this thread some time ago - back in march - and have been lurking to see what i going on with the group - wow it has really grown!! have not been able to join the group meet-ups as still working in london and living in berkshire. however i start maternity leave in 4 weeks time (15 july - it has come around so quickly and i am very nervous as have so much to do!) and so please do keep posting where your meets take place as i am really keen to meet new mums and mums to be in oxford prior to us moving there and the group seems so friendly and helpful. we have found lily (my 22 month old daughter!) a lovely nursery in eynsham for september so will be looking to hopefully live in the west side of oxford - can't wait and stepping up the house hunting!!!
hope that you are all well and looking forward to meeting you all!

Hi Jemma,

Eynsham is a lovely place as is lots of the villages around there. Witney is also great. Looking forward to saying hello!

Bumpity bump!

Meet up today in the summertown wine cafe, around 11 ish , we'll be at the back with the buggies in the summerhouse.

See you in a bit, anyone who is coming along. All welcome :)

Spacey13 · 17/06/2011 18:56

Went along to meeting today. Thank you for making me feel so welcome. Freddy enjoyed himself as well! Hope to make a few more meetings before baby arrives.

owlbooty · 17/06/2011 19:56

Was lovely to meet you, Spacey and Freddy too :)

Next meet up is the Friday after next, same venue, same time (ish - dependent on babies behaving!)

mekele · 19/06/2011 18:07

Hi

I live in East Oxford and am due on October 1st with my first, not sure if its a boy or a girl but its a right little karate kid.

Jer79 · 21/06/2011 03:49

Hi everyone,

So I've moved from bump to baby as of last week in a pretty seamless elcs that has been wonderful to recover from. I am so in love with this little girl, it's unreal. You get so het up about the worries in having a baby, almost scared to think of the potential for such joyousness, that when she came I was just blown over with protectiveness and love.

Will bring her with me to the next meet-up which I think Owl said was on the 31st? It'll be so strange to be one of the ones holding my own baby in the summerhouse instead of borrowing everyone elses for a cuddle, and really looking forward to a nice SWC coffee. It'll be lovely to meet Spacey and any other new faces too.

Anyone know how Kittubb has been getting on?

See you soon

Hi Everyone,

I gave birth to a baby girl at the beginning of June and have just found this site :)

I live in North Oxford and would love to come and join you on the 1st July for a coffee and a chat..

Look forward to speaking to you..x

Jer79 · 23/06/2011 17:44

TMT thank goodness one of us has graduated from baby brain! I never could never remember that rhyme at school. The 1st July it is.

Junebaby Woohoo, congratulations on your new baby. It's great you found the thread, it'll be lovely to meet you both at the next meet-up.I'm in north Oxford too.

Over here life is very lovely, a fog of breastfeeding and the startling new knowledge that babies (or my baby) keep to a day is night/night is day schedule which thoroughly perplexed us until we talked to a few other new parents who were equally bewildered. We were expecting to be woken up through the night; it never dawned on us that the little love wouldn't want to sleep after 9pm and would only sleep before it. Tiredness aside. It really is the most amazing thing I've ever known though. I just had no idea how much love a person can feel.

See you all soon

Aw, Jer tis lovely to hear from you and that all is going well - can't wait to meet your gorgeous girl :)

Welcome also to Junebaby and mekele - do come along! All welcome.

Haven't heard anything from kittub but I'm pretty sure she must have delivered by now. Kittub if you're out there, I hope all went well & you resurface soon!

Looking forward to seeing everyone on 1st July for a good old natter and some crafty cuddles with the babies :)

Spacey13 · 23/06/2011 18:38

Congratulations!! Can't wait to meet your little girl! You've made me soooooooo excited about meeting my new little person!

CaringForPod · 25/06/2011 08:40

Sorry have been missing in action for a few weeks - have found things a bit hard since the birth of Matthew, but getting there. He's now 8 weeks (well, will be tomorrow) and a whopping 12 1/2 lbs! About the amount I have to lose Sad

Are people still meeting up? If so, is it the same day every week? If it's always a Friday morning, then sadly I won't be able to join as we go to a music group then I'm hoping to go to an aerobics class with creche directly afterwards, so wouldn't be free until 3.30pm.

It was good to catch up with everyone's news!

CaringForPod · 25/06/2011 08:41

Also, does anyone know if there's a way to turn on email alerts for when a new message is posted to this thread? I just don't have the time to keep logging in these days!

Juno21 · 27/06/2011 05:34

Hi everyone, I was wondering if it would be ok to join your next meet up on the 1st in Summertown? I'm 13 weeks pregnant with my first and I'm keen to meet other mums to be in or near Oxford. I'm 35 and live just north of Oxford in a little village but we're hoping to move further into Oxford soon as it's a bit isolated where we are at the moment. So it would be great to start meeting a few people.
Thanks!

CaringForPod · 29/06/2011 17:08

What time is the meet-up this Friday?

Jer79 · 29/06/2011 18:06

Hi, great to hear from you Juno, it'd be lovely to have you cone and hang out too.

The next meetup is this Friday at the Summertown Wine Cafe (summerhouse at the back probably) at 11am.

Bumpity bump for tomorrow :) All welcome :)

4030ludders · 30/06/2011 20:57

Hello there, we are moving to Radley near Oxford in late August. I am expecting a baby in November (my first) and would like to find a night nurse to help me in the first few months. Does anyone in the group have any suggestions for agencies you've used, or people you'd recommend? I am hoping I can still breast feed but express for baby overnight.

PS would love to join you for coffee once we move in - so hope you are still meeting up come September.

Juno21 · 30/06/2011 21:07

Ah no! I forgot about the meet up and made an osteopathy appointment for the morning so I doubt I'll be able to make it now! I hope there's another one sometime soon though? I'll definitely come to that.
(Has anyone else developed really bad hip pain since pregnancy? Just got rid of the nausea and then this started!!)
Feels great though not being sick anymore so I'm not complaining!

CaringForPod · 01/07/2011 08:25

Would really like to meet you all, but I just can't do Friday mornings as it's one of the few groups that I go to. Any chance of a non-Friday meet up one day? Or a Friday afternoon?

SAHMHelen · 01/07/2011 08:26

Hi all,I haven't forgot you all and would love to meet up but unfortunately Fridays are not good for me :-(

If anyone ever fancies a Wednesday/Thursday meet somewhere me & Eve would love tocome along as we are struggling to find anything to do on those days and get lonely

Eve is 20mths and better when she has something to play with/occupy herself,I am currently 6mths pregnant with 2nd due 29th September, we live in Kidlignton with OH/Daddy

Also is the wine cafe toddler friendly? Eve gets so bored when we just go for coffee and I never enjoy myself, hope to hear/meet some of you soon

xxx
