Anyone due May 04?

Just found out I'm pregnant with an EDD on May 7th, so though I'ld kick off this thread. I have a DS who was two last week. I am suprised to find myself having very mixed emotions - excitement at the thought of a sibling for DS, but horror at the thought of the pregancy, birth and first few months. Anyone else just found out they're pregnant?

thanks twiglett. will do. how are you feeling now???????

Egypt · 23/09/2003 18:51

just thought twigg, you'll know how far you are now won't you? i remember you weren't sure whether to time from ov or last AF. when is EDD?

GeorginaA · 24/09/2003 13:44

I think I'm going to sulk now... just tried to phone up my new doctor's surgery to make an appt, and apparently they don't want to know until I'm 8 weeks pregnant, then I'm supposed to make an appt with the midwife.

It's not fair! It doesn't feel official until I've seen a GP!

Egypt · 24/09/2003 17:19

i know what you mean georgina. i made an appt with gp but didnt say why. then when in his office he had to listen! didnt confirm it though. just wrote down on my notes and said to see midwife at 8 weeks. so booked an appt with her for 7 1/2 !!

Linnet · 24/09/2003 21:55

Well it's official I went to my Gp today and told her I was pregnant and got an EDD of May 3rd, I'd worked out May 2nd because of the leap year but I wasn't about to quibble about it since the baby will probably be late anyway, dd was late.
GP is going to write to the Hospital and they will get in touch with me about the scan and booking appointment and then I've to go back to my Gp when I'm 16 weeks. We do shared care here so I see my Gp every month and then it goes to every 2 weeks and then every week towards the end.
So it's all official now, how scary
Has anybody told their friends or families yet? If I can get away with it we don't want to tell anyone until after the second scan. But we'll see what happens with the size of the bump.

GeorginaA · 24/09/2003 22:13

I've been shameless and blurted it out to just about everyone, but then I've always been hopeless about keeping things quiet of that magnitude (when it's my news to tell, that is). I figure this way I'll get more leeway when I fluctuate into arsey cow on an hourly basis....

Azure · 25/09/2003 09:15

I've told close friends and family, but will wait until after my 12 week scan before telling anyone at work. The way my bump is going it will be obvious anyway. Scan booked for October 23 - can't wait.

My jeans feel tight already and I'm only 5 weeks!! Probably fat! How much quicker do you show with no 2? I didn't show till about 16 weeks first time around.

Have told mum as last time I didn't tell her till 12 weeks & she was v upset. Also told 2 best friends (and all of you of course!).

Egypt · 25/09/2003 18:20

yes, clothes are getting tight and only 6 1/2 weeks, so cant be baby yet, BUT i am soo soo hungry all the time that i am eating loads and very often too! had school dinners today - chicken pie, potatoes, sweetcorn, rhubarb brumble and custard. came home and just eaten steak and kidney pie (a whole half), potatoes, gravy and folic acid rich brocolli and cauli!! going to have a nice calcium rich greek yogurt with honey now.....mmmmmmmmmmm. naughty. so yes, i think that may be why my clothes are tight. anyone else eating like david blaine will be when he comes out?

GeorginaA · 25/09/2003 18:28

Oh yes - I'm seriously considering putting the jeans away already and I'm only about 3 weeks pregnant! Actually, eating like it was going out of fashion was my earliest indicator that I was pregnant. The last time I found myself tucking into a huge plate of cheese and crackers at 11pm because I was ravenous was when I was pregnant with ds...

Linnet · 25/09/2003 21:03

My jeans are doing ok, not even beginning to feel tight yet. You see I why I wonder sometimes whether or not I am actually pregnant, no sickness no tightness of clothes, lol

Can someone answer this for me though, the great bra debate again, can you wear an underwired bra while your pregnant?
I know that you aren't meant to wear an underwired bra while breastfeeding but what about when pregnant?

prufrock · 26/09/2003 10:20

Well I can not only still get into my jeans but they are hanging off my hips. I have noticed a slight thickening around the waist, but have so far lost 7lbs. I would love to be able to eat something other than rich tea biscuits, but that's all that's staying down.

Snips · 26/09/2003 13:01

With ds I lost about half a stone when I first got pregnant..but think it was just the fact I gave up alcohol!

GeorginaA · 26/09/2003 13:46

Just weighed myself - I've put on half a stone and I'm only about 3/4 weeks pregnant! I'm kind of enjoying the appetite though - I'm usually a very small eater/have a small frame, so it's great fun eating tons of stuff I really fancy and not running out of room!

I'm going to be an elephant in eight months time...

trying v v v hard not to gorge myself on junk, but am having to gorge myself on food because I am so so hungry i feel absolutely YUK. have eaten so much today, and it has been fairly ok food, so not too worried. this has been the first day when i've actually felt a little sick and certainly woozy. i am so tired. went to bed at 8pm last night and still knackered. didnt help waking at 3am with the almightiest period type pains imaginable. its horrid. anyone else having these?

Egypt · 29/09/2003 18:50

Oh god. it has realy started. where is everyone? 4 days now of feeling like absolute poo. i am so tired and the moment my stomach becomes empty i feel sick. i want to eat all the time, which i spose is good, but i cant stand this tiredness. came home from school at 4 thoday and laid down and watched richard and judy and was asleep b4 the end. DH came home and woke me up. Now i feel worse for sleeping! is anyone else the same? how r u doing twiglett?
have parents evening on weds and have NO idea how i am going to possible chat to parents non-stop from 3.30 to 8pm. Oh jeeeeez

GeorginaA · 29/09/2003 19:23

I'm not feeling great either... have had achy/premenstrual feelings in my stomach for a few days now and am really really tired (but not tired enough for my brain to switch off at night, apparently, spent a long time last night worrying about how ds was going to cope with a sibling, if I was being really selfish, etc).

Ds has been playing up today (my fault really, as I'm tired I'm not giving him as much quality attention which is backfiring) which hasn't helped. And my mum is thinking of living full time with her boyfriend, which is great, I really like him, and I'm pleased for her, but now I feel like I can't leave ds with her for a weekend, because at the end of the day, he's not really "family" and I feel cautious leaving him alone with my son/future child. Is it just pregnancy hormones making me paranoid?! I can't decide.

Also, I think I've got confused about how many weeks pregnant I am after rereading some of the pregnancy books. Is it dated from last period? In which case I am 6 weeks pregnant not 4... better make that appt with the midwife soonish then.

prufrock · 30/09/2003 08:25

Yep - you're 6 weeks Georgina.
Have to say hearing that other people are feeling awful too did cheer me up a bit (Does that make me a horrible person?)
I have become completely incapable of functioning normally. Yesterday I threw up 4 times at work and another 3 in the evening. I haven't been able to eat anything but white carbs for 2 weeks now and I fall asleep before dd does in the evenings. I hate this.

But I'm trying a new Homeopathic remedy today so I must think positively....

GeorginaA · 30/09/2003 11:17

Okay I officially feel a terrible mother. At 10am I switched on Nick Jr for ds and I dosed off on the sofa. I would have woken up instantly if ds had needed me, but I still feel guilty.

I get the feeling ds is going to be a telly addict in the next 8 months....

The first 12 weeks of pregnancy always seem to take soooooo long to pass.

snowbird · 30/09/2003 15:16

Congratulations everyone. I've just found out I'm pregnant and worked out my due date as 29 May. So can I join in?

Snips · 30/09/2003 15:23

Congratulations snowbird!
