Just found out I'm pregnant with an EDD on May 7th, so though I'ld kick off this thread. I have a DS who was two last week. I am suprised to find myself having very mixed emotions - excitement at the thought of a sibling for DS, but horror at the thought of the pregancy, birth and first few months. Anyone else just found out they're pregnant?

Aah Egypt LOL. My DH reckons he can sort out my breathing my giving me a poke so has been staying in the marital bed too. He's working away tonight so I'm quite looking forward to the opportunity to spread out.

GeorginaA · 21/01/2004 11:26

Right, my scan is tomorrow morning. I'm going to be reckless and make a prediction

When I was carrying ds, I "knew" it was a boy because two days before conception I had a very specific dream which I "knew" meant I was going to fall pregnant with a son very soon.

Didn't have a specific dream before this one so I've been a bit in the dark, but two nights ago I did dream about giving birth and later breastfeeding a little girl (who for some bizarre reason had miraculously turned into a cheeky toddler - I'm guessing that bit is irrelevant )

It didn't feel as specific and "definite" as with ds the first time around so I'm not sure if it's my subconsious telling me the sex of the baby or not. But I thought I could be clever and post about it, so if it does turn out to be a girl tomorrow I can dance about and claim to be prophetic

Egypt · 21/01/2004 21:36

good luck georgina. let us know asap

having the 3d scan at nottingham, so can keep as a momento. has anyone else had this/know anyone who's had it. reason asking is because i want to know if its at all avoidable to find out sex? or is it inevitable?

Egypt · 21/01/2004 21:38

thats 3D scan not 3rd scan

Linnet · 21/01/2004 21:50

Oooh Georgina Enjoy your scan and be sure to post what it is as soon as you can.

I went to see my midwife yesterday who was very grumpy but did mention that I don't have to see her and my GP so I had to choose one of them so I chose my GP who I know and like. Plus I can go to her outside of working hours rather than taking a whole hour off work, like yesterday, just to do the same things with the midwife that the GP had done.

I did ask the midwife nicely if she could check my notes at the hospital and phone me and tell me if I was right in hearing that I'm having a girl, lol She's going to phone on Friday and tell me and I'll be sure to pay attention this time, lol

Egypt, I haven't had a 3D scan as my local hospital doesn't do them, but someone told me that I'd get one as another mum at the school got one, but I think the other mum must have got it done at another hospital. I'm not sure if I'll get a 3D scan in Glasgow or not. Still waiting for an appointment to come through for the cardiac scan.

If you don't want to know the sex Egypt tell the person doing the scan and they could avoid that area or tell you when to look away so you don't see maybe?

Oh and I will deliver at my local hospital as all the dr's will be there until the 1st of July so should something go wrong, hopefully not though, and result in an emergency section or something there will be a dr there to do it and I won't need to be shoved in an ambulance and sent 20 miles down the road. that's one less thing to worry about then.

Bozza · 22/01/2004 11:07

Good luck Georgina.

Egypt are we the only ones not finding out?

Linnett glad you got the reassurance about the hospital.

GeorginaA · 22/01/2004 12:18

Well my powers of prediction are next to useless

IT'S A BOY! Bits very clear on the scan so no mistaking that

Baby was very wriggly and uncooperative and didn't want to have its head measured or whatever they try and measure while we're busy going googly eyed over the cute piccies. Ds was ever so patient though despite all the long waits - I was so proud of him.

Everything seems to be "normal" whatever that means

It's weird. I'm not disappointed - I'm over the moon it's a little boy, I know what to do with little boys and it'll be lovely for ds to have a little brother. At the same time, I'd got myself totally convinced (also because pregnancies have been so very different) that it was a girl I now have to get used to the idea! And oh my god I'm going to be outnumbered by males in the house!!!!

SpringChicken · 22/01/2004 12:53

Congratulations Georgina I am so so so so tempted to find out what i am having - not to be ultra organised or anything like that, just because i am so nosey and hate not knowing things!

Sorry your prediction powers are crap though

Bozza · 22/01/2004 13:06

Glad it went well Georgina. I have no feelings either way about what I'm having - pregnancies same and different so can't tell off that.

Egypt · 22/01/2004 18:39

thats great Georgina, congratulations
think we may be the only ones not finding out bozza! have a feeling that it will be revealed on 3d scan though. whether i want it to or not. we'll see!

Egypt · 22/01/2004 18:43

oh and linnet, the sd scan isnt offered on the nhs as far as i am aware. we are paying privately, just for a momento. its £150 st proscan at nottingham.

girls there is a website where you can look at the pics they can achieve. really is amazing - lets see if i can do a link!

pro-scan

Linnet · 22/01/2004 21:38

Oh Georgina, congratulations.
Out of interest what did the chinese calendar predict?
Did anyones chinese calendar prediction come true?
I'm just so incredibly nosy I have to ask these questions.
So everyone is having a boy apart from me and Twiglett and Egypt doesn't know? Is that right?

GeorginaA · 22/01/2004 21:41

Oooo ... just looked back ... chinese prediction was a boy I'd forgotten about that!

Linnet · 23/01/2004 13:31

Ok, Consultants Secretary phoned and told me that I am definitely having a Girl.

SpringChicken · 23/01/2004 14:25

Congratulations Linnet

Egypt · 23/01/2004 17:03

congrats linnet!!

have booked 3D scan for next weds. Excited
asked if it was avoidable to see sex, and was told that the sonographer would try and miss those bits, but if she spotted them would do her best to quickly move away! So may be finding out yet!

Snips · 26/01/2004 09:46

We had a little baby boy on 17th Jan, but as he was only 21 weeks he didn't make it. He was absolutely perfect and gorgeous, and we got to spend some time with him which was really precious. Won't go into any detail here, but good luck to all of you with your pregnancies.

Azure · 26/01/2004 09:48

Snips, I'm so, so sorry to hear about your little boy. Another angel in heaven.
