Just found out I'm pregnant with an EDD on May 7th, so though I'ld kick off this thread. I have a DS who was two last week. I am suprised to find myself having very mixed emotions - excitement at the thought of a sibling for DS, but horror at the thought of the pregancy, birth and first few months. Anyone else just found out they're pregnant?

Dh is bringing me a bagel in bed every morning and that enables me to at least get up. I havn't actually thrown anything up yet, just get that awful violent retching - but eating regularly keeps it at bay. On the positive side, I've lost 4 pounds in a week And I'm eating anything and everything I want.
Azure - do you also feel a sense of anticlimax this time round? I'm happy to be pregnant, and can't wait to meet my baby, but it feels like the next 8 months are just something for me to get through, rather than the exciting time they were before.

Wow, congratulations to you all - Prufrock ! That is super news. Do hope you somehow get off the OC hook this time. Hope all goes very well for everyone on this thread

Oh twiglett, that's exactly what i am wondering. I think i may ask for one. I cant get to my GP til next monday and can't get to see the consulatant who put me on the clomid til a week on friday. Surely he will want me to do a scan, as i have PCO and have large simple cysts on and off. I hope the cysts wont do any harm. Anyone know?

oh thats good to know! I hope they do an early scan though, just for the fun of it - and it will put my mind at rest. Also, little tinsy bit worried incase its a multiple birth as its higher risk with clomid!

motherinferior · 09/09/2003 18:35

congratulations everyone!

Wow, even having sworn no more babies, and with an 11-week old, I'm even feeling very very slightly jealous

I'm hoping to be joining you all but not really sure yet. How likely is it to happen the first month I have come off the pill? I had been wanting to start trying for months but DH has resisted and then I decided to come off anyway and use condoms and DH relented and said not to bother so not sure how he'll react.... My last period started on 10 August so that would make my due date 16 May (our anniversary...).

The only thing is because I've been on the pill for years I'm not sure what my natural cycle would be. When I had DS I came off the pill and had one cycle of 26 days and one of 29 days and then conceived. And as soon as I stopped breast feeding (mixed feeding with irregular periods) I went back on the pill. But once it got past the 29 days I started to hope. So maybe here, maybe not....

twiglett - that's great news. I know what you mean about clothes feeling tight already - it may just be fat retention, but I feel 3 months pregnant already. I don't know how I'm going to keep it from people at work until my 12 week scan, especially as I'm sure they've been waiting for me to have #2 for ages.

Prufrock - it is slightly anti-climatic. I told my closest friends on Saturday (non-parents), and they were completely underwhelmed. To be honest, I wish it were 2 years time as I found DS's first year very difficult.

Bozza - are you going to test? I'm sure I've heard that it is quite usual to conceive immediately after coming off the pill, and that you are more "fertile" that first month than afterwards. Sounds promising!

Do you think I should Azure? I didn't look at any of the TTC threads for ages because I was too stressed about DH not agreeing and they upset me but having read what some of you have gone through to get pregnant I feel a bit of a fraud.

Not sure whether to test because then I will have to tell DH. I could get to Asda tomorrow lunchtime to buy a test but would have to be discrete because it is right next door to work. Also going on hols a week on Friday with in-laws and wouldn't want to tell them so soon, especially because my parents are going on hols this week and so won't be able to tell them. Suppose I shouldn't be thinking ahead like this until I've done the actual test.

I was thinking of getting the Asda home brand - its quite cheap and you get two sticks. I suppose its superstition because thats what I used last time. But its now day 31....

Kegals? What are Kegals?

I haven't done another test yet but will do one probably tomorrow or friday and let you all know. I like to have a peek in here now and then in the hope that I will be joining you all.

Bozza · 11/09/2003 10:05

Kegals = pelvic floor exercises (I think...).

Haven't done test. Went to Asda and sold out of home-brand and only had predictor which twiglett warned me off. So might go to Boots today. Am now on day 32 (not that I'm counting or anything ).

Linnet and Bozza, I really hope you get to join us too.
I did my kegels this morning after reading this, but I think my pelvic floor is beyond hope.
had a really bad afternoon of retching yesterday. It feels really difficult to eat little and often without my colleagues guessing why.
I've also become supersensitive to smells - perfume, fish, Vicks - all are making me gag oh well only 32 weeks to go!
