Anyone due May 04?

Just found out I'm pregnant with an EDD on May 7th, so though I'ld kick off this thread. I have a DS who was two last week. I am suprised to find myself having very mixed emotions - excitement at the thought of a sibling for DS, but horror at the thought of the pregancy, birth and first few months. Anyone else just found out they're pregnant?

Georgina, glad to hear that the scan at 20 weeks had been resolved.

My due date was also moved when I went in for my scan I was moved forward 11 days, was originally due on the 2nd now I'm due on the 13th.

When I do finally announce that I'm pregnant I'm going to tell everyone, family/friends etc, that I'm due on the 27th, that way if I go overdue they won't realise and keep questioning me.

One of the mums at my dd's school had her baby today, 10 days late, a healthy little boy. I felt so sorry for her as every day someone would go up to her and say, oh you're still here then? In the end she didn't appear at the school, she sent her significant other and sat in the car to avoid all the questions, poor thing.

Linnet · 19/11/2003 22:59

Libb, glad you enjoyed your scan, I love it when you see the baby for the first time. I remember thinking oh good I am pregnant it's not just been in my imagination, lol

Anyone else worry about whether or not there would actually be a baby in there or was that just me? Probably just me, lol

GeorginaA · 19/11/2003 23:13

I actually joked with the midwife about it. "Oh, so I wasn't imagining it then?"

I don't know why I thought I'd be exposed as a fraud.. what did I expect that I'd had a bad stomach bug/put on weight around the middle/managed to get a faulty pregnancy test all coincidentally?!

Still, was glad to get the photographic "proof"!

libb · 19/11/2003 23:38

Glad it wasn't just me then - nearly told the midwife that she was wasting her time because there was nothing in there!

Egypt, sorry to hear about your headaches, hope they ease soon. Gerogina, it is also good news about your scan - nice one!

My EDD was pretty done and dusted the moment I knew I was pregnant - it can sometimes only take the once! Crikey. So the 9th May it is - fingers crossed . . .

Bozza, I think you and I are practically the same, I was 15weeks + 3 days for my dating scan (was lucky to have a newish girl who wanted to practice her technique and apparently the senior midwife thinks I'm a nice scan so lots of looking around!). My 20 week scan is also on the 2nd January. It was nice to get all the tests and weighing out of way at the same time.

It is nice to see that we are all posting a bit more, I guess we've all been keen to get scans out of the way especially as half of us are not convinced we are!

Take care everybody, Libb xx

Bozza · 20/11/2003 11:57

Libb I'm not actually due until 16 May - but I guess the routine scans get bunched together around Christmas.

Egypt I seem to be having a heavy/uncomfortable/bloated stomach in the evening and lack of appetite. I try to force my meal down otherwise the sickness feels worse in the morning.

Linnet I can't believe you still haven't told anyone! I'm very impressed by your resolve. Are you still planning on the big Christmas announcement?

Libb, I've got my 20 week scan on 2 Jan too (which is actually my birthday !). I'm due on 8 May which was confirmed by my scan last week - I actually thought it would be later so was quite surprised. I've told pretty much everyone except work, going to do that on Monday....

Keep well everybody

Egypt · 20/11/2003 18:55

hi all
thanks for dehydration comment twiglett - you know i think you may be right! have had headaches all day and came home and drank lots of water and now i feel better. i shall try and drinkn loads and loads tomorrow at work and see if it helps.

i agree with the scan thing. i was not convinced i was preg until saw it on there. it is amazing!

No we still haven't told anyone yet. I had been considering telling some people, but not our dd as she's very impatient, after the first scan but because of what they found we decided to wait and see what happens. So all being well with the tests we plan to tell everyone at christmas.

I'm still not showing, no sign of a bump although my chest is bigger but nobody has commented and now that it's winter I can wear baggy jumpers to disguise that.

I get the amnio on the 25th when I'll be 15 weeks + 6 and should have the results back within two weeks if not before, depends on whether or not they get a clear sample apparently. And My 19 week scan is scheduled for the 19th of December so it would only be a matter of days before we tell anyone after that. I'm hoping that they get a clear sample though and that we can find out the first lot of results within 48 hours.

When I went in for my booking scan on the 6th of November I was weighed and I had gained 10lbs, I can't work out where it has all gone though must all be on my chest, lol

Snips · 20/11/2003 22:18

Hi all

This is going to sound really silly I know, but I feel sure I have felt the baby move a couple of times..definitely felt a sort of "flip" today. But I'm only 12+5. Would it be impossible to feel it move so soon. Perhaps it's wind, but as this is my second, it so feels like how it felt last time.

vivat · 20/11/2003 22:57

I have definitely been feeling flutterings - i thought i felt them at about 11 weeks, but apparently this is far too early (according to Miriam anyway). It did make me think I might be having twins (i'm a twin and there are lots in my family), although thankfully i'm not !

vivat · 20/11/2003 22:58

forgot to say, i'm nearly 16 weeks now and it's doing all sorts of acrobatics now !

Egypt · 22/11/2003 09:28

lost 9 lbs. you lucky girl! sorry, i know you'd rather not have the sickness. i have put on about 9lbs! did in the first few weeks, but am seriously convinced it was my appetite. have eaten loads.
as for movements - no. lots of wind but not flutters yet. am 15 weeks tomorrow. have def got a very obvious hard lump about pelvic bone now. only notice it majorly in the morning when lying flat in bed. seem extra hard then. yesterday it was just a lump on one side?! today is in middle. can it be the baby pushing the uterus out to one side? surely not already, its only 9cm !
twiglett - with ref you PCO, did your midwife say yu would get extra observations with a consultant? she told me that the hosp would ensure i got seen by one because of that. not heard a simgle thing though. not even got 20 wk scan appointment yet. nothing. just wondered if you were same. i dont see how the pco could have an effect now preg is underway, and sonographer said ovaries didnt look slightest bit pco on 10 wk scan.........sorry rambling

thanks twiglett. glad u are feeling better. enhoy eating now!

i drank loads and loads yesterday at work, and afraid still got bad bad headaches. only thing it did was make me have to get someone to cover my class every half hour whilst i went to loo!! dont know what to do now. am going to buy a vaporiser today at boots.

Linnet · 22/11/2003 22:14

Egypt, sorry to hear that your headaches are still bothering you.
I felt a hard lump on the left hand side above my pelvis the other morning. But haven't felt anything since. I haven't felt the baby move yet either. If I lie down flat I have no obvious bump. I keep lying down on my tummy to see if I can feel anything there yet, I remember lying on my tummy at 19 weeks last time and realising very quickly that I couldn't do that anymore as the baby was in the way, lol
Incidentally when I was pregnant with my DD the bump seemed to be slightly more to the left hand side not that it was noticable to anyone else but I could see it if I looked down, IYKWIM.

Linnet · 25/11/2003 21:58

Hello, how is everyone doing today?

I had my amnio today. It went very well not as painful as I was expecting just a weird sensation I thought. I watched the screen to see that the baby wasn't in any danger and the little monkey reached it's hand out as if trying to bat the needle away! I was saying to the screen no baby don't do that, lol, but the dr said that the sharp part of the needle wasn't there, it's inside another part and it wasn't in any danger and apparently a lot of babies actually grab hold of it!
anyway it went well like I said and they got a nice clear sample and they will have the first set of results back by Thursday. The rest of them take a couple of weeks but the main ones that the Dr's are worried about are tested for in the 48 hr test. So fingers crossed for good news.

Hope you're all doing well and talk to you all soon.

Bozza · 26/11/2003 12:33

Glad your amnio seemed to go well Linnet. Hope you get good results. My scan tomorrow and then blood tests.

I have put on weight but not weighed myself recently. Not eating as much as at first but still more than normal. Tried on a couple of maternity skirts from last time but they were way too big. But all of my work suits are now too tight - I could get them on but wouldn't be comfortable. Can't decide whether to buy some cheap clothes a couple of sizes bigger or materntiy clothes. What d'you think?

Egypt · 26/11/2003 19:51

hi bozza
i am in same position as you. bought 2 pairs of jersey trousers from next catalogue. they are stretchy waist and fit now, and will def stretch all the way.! they are so comfy. £19.99 i think. worth it - wearing them all time!

linnet - glad your amnio went well

had midwife checkup today. heard baby's heart for first time. she found it on the right hand side, just where i was saying on here the other day, that the bump seemed to be biggest! weird

Linnet · 26/11/2003 22:35

Hello Everyone,
Bozza I hope your scan goes well tomorrow. Egypt were those trousers in the maternity section of the winter next catalogue? I'll have to have a look through it to see if I can get trousers and a top for work.

Well today My consultant phoned me at 2.45pm to tell me that the first lot of test results came back and they were all CLEAR!

They tested for Downs, Edwards and another one I can't remember the name of and they have ruled them all out. they also managed to get a quick result on the sex chromosomes and have ruled out turners Syndrome.

So we now have to wait on a letter coming with the full results and hopefully after that it should all be plain sailing. He did say that the rest of the cultures test for rare chromosome disorders and some subtle heart defects but from what he's seen of the heart so far it looks ok with being the right size, beating well and all 4 chambers visible, but they will have a really good close look at it when I go in for me 19 week scan and I'll find out then what sex this little person is.

We're feeling very relieved now and looking forward to the rest of the pregnancy and I finally feel that I'll be able to sleep at nights.

Thank you all for your wishes of good luck.

GeorginaA · 26/11/2003 23:05

Oh congratulations Linnet - what a relief!!!! I'm so happy for you!

Good luck with your scan, Bozza.

Bozza · 27/11/2003 14:34

Scan went fine. It seemed so much like a baby compared with DS's dating scan which was at 9 weeks (so 6 weeks earlier). Went and had blood taken for triple test so have to ring up for results of that next week. If there is no problem there next appt will be 20 week scan on 2 Jan.

Great news on the results Linnet.
