aww cadmum sooo pleased everything is ok hun..cant wait to hear details

Cadmum · 30/09/2005 18:43

Sorry to keep you all in suspense! I just got back from a nice breakfast with the family and a run around the local playground.

I was the first to be scanned this morning so was actually started before 8:15! The sonographer kindly found the heartbeat before putting the picture up on the screen for me. The baby was very active and she took the usual measurements--50th centile for a 17 week fetus. (She asked me if I would like to know the gender!!! It was SO hard to say no thank-you. DH really doesn?t want to know and I am not certain that I would like to so I made the hard decision on the spot.) She checked the spine; the heart; both hemispheres of the brain... Found the stomach, both kidneys, the bladder, five fingers per hand (really long fingers like mine and DS1 and DD); two little feet (didn?t see her check the toes...) She confirmed that there are 3 vessels in the umbilical cord and that the cord inserion is nomal and central (it was lateral with DS2).

Hope that is WAY more detail than you wanted...

I was also given the results of the nuchal fold scan and the blood work that they do at the same time and two weeks later (it is called the Integrated Prenatal Screen in Canada--somewhat dif. than in UK, I believe.) I was told that the chance of downs is 1 in 15.000 and 1 in 5000 for neural-tube defects. All of the blood work came back normal so I have come to the conclusion that I might be having a baby in March!! I know this will sound silly but I am really surprised that everything went so so so well.

Oh yeah, I have also gained nearly 1 whole kg (think that is 2 lbs) !!! This is really good for me as I have usually lost a lot of weight by this stage...

Sadly, the pictures were not particularly clear but I will send Munzie one via email because she has kindly offered to post it on member profiles for me. Thanks Munz!

Frizbe · 30/09/2005 18:48

Yeah! well done Cadmum, looks like all is ok, phew for you and yours, your having a baby!

Frizbe · 30/09/2005 18:54

Have been trying to potty train dd today, so far two wee's on the floor and one poo in her pants.....ahh the joys of motherhood! lets hope tomorrow's a better day for it! she seems to be slowly getting the idea, that it should be in the potty, just not quite asking in time

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 30/09/2005 18:56

Excellent news hun...... YOU'RE HAVING A BABY!!!!!

Cadmum - wonderful fabulous amazing news and we loved hearing all about it so dont apologize for the detail - we would only have asked if you hadnt provided it!
really though, that is so great and now i am hoping you will be able to relax and shed some of those worries.

munz - so glad to hear your d/h seemed contrite and is behaving himself now probably no bad thing you were too tired last night, let him stew a little

a big thankyou to george, munz, frizbe, J&BM for all making me feel better about my a*hole boss. someone else at work overheard him talking to me and couldnt believe he was talking to me like that, so i wasnt being overly sensitive.

catch up properly later, limited on time today. take care all.

romilly · 30/09/2005 19:34

honestly dont know where i'd be without you guys sometimes -

frizbe - thankyou so much for that website link, i have just been checking it out and it is great ammo!

Frizbe · 30/09/2005 19:58

Hey no worries, I found it when I was last preggers!

munz · 01/10/2005 10:48

oh Rom - I blinking well forgot to look in my books at work - will do on monday I promise! - only ordered them from IR cos my boss was moaning as well about the maternity pay he'd have to give me so I went full throtal fully armed that he paid me then the governemtn paid him 104% so he actually gained by me being off - he was happy after thaht! lol.

caddy - v happy and pleased for u, hope u and ur DH are having a lovely time.

felt some flutter yesterday but all quiet again today
ooh girls happy 17 weeks as well rom/cad forgot to say that yesterday.

ooh and do u know I went to macdonalds today - for a bacon roll as I dropped DH in work - well I tell u, they had 110% brown sauce {Blughhh!) and well three streaky rashers of bacon with about an inch of actal bacon on them and the rest was fat - and as I don't like fat I was not impressed - £2.50 well wasted!

hope everyone's ok.

romilly · 01/10/2005 11:19

munz - that'll teach you for going to macdonalds! - sounds truly disgusting, but then all food does to me at the moment, lol

how is J&BM getting on? gulping down the raspberry tea still hun?

nice to think of cadmum not being on her own with the kids for a change.

hope friz, dq, george, nemo and yingers are all busy enjoying their weekends

i had to be up bright and early cleaning and tidying (ugh) as we are currently trying to sell our place and get a place with one extra bedroom, for obvious reasons (spare bedroom has currently been overtaken by mr.rom as a study/office). we have been on the market for a couple of months now and had a few offers but not reached the amount we need yet. am beginning to think it is getting a bit tight with timing... what is the latest any of you would move before having your baby?

romilly · 01/10/2005 11:20

munz - i am totally jealous of your flutters, I WANT SOME!!!!

Nemo1977 · 01/10/2005 11:21

hello ladies
munz i hate how they cover the bacon roll in brown sauce..yuk

rom hope oyu manage to sell soonish

Not a lot going on here..still in pjs as adam isnt well and have been up half the night. Am going to make some brownies soon which should help us feel better..lol Just trying to sell loads of our stuff at the min to make room for the baby..lol Adam has soo many toys I think we could compete with toys r us.

romilly · 01/10/2005 11:27

save me a brownie nemo and one for munz too

just had to let george and dq. know that i am very excited as my "mums-the-word" package has just arrived with all the goodies that are going to make me feel pampered in it. i have already applied my "muti" stick aromatherapy stuff - in liberal quantities - so i'll let you know if i have a vomit-free-zone today, lol....

munz · 01/10/2005 12:04

ooh ooh mums the word? - isn't that the carrie/justine thingy?

nemo/rom - I know should have learnt about macs - came home and had a nice toasted muffin and cuppa tea instead (in a proper mug!) lol.

ah alas rom was also gonna clean today - well the sofa, DH did the rest for me yesterday but i've done ahem, the seat of one chair and thtas it - can't be arsed really! those flash pads are brilliant. the flutters are coming and going- not had them since? but know it was def them as they were going on for a good 5 minutes.

(asked DB about ur flat him/g'f look to be splitting up i'm afraid so not well there) JM&B has only just moved into her new place, about 2/3 weeks ago I think - so that would have been what 32-34 weeks or something? has there been a lot of intrest in the flat?

oh and u two know me so well with choccy! i'll take a few of those brownies - actually I was gonna do a nice chicken and mushroom pie for DH for tea, so might do him a cake as well(uses the eggs up)? - hmm actually will save that for tomorrow.

nemo - hope adam's feeling better soon.

romilly · 01/10/2005 12:38

mumstheword.com is george's find, its a website with lots of pampering goodies.

have to be quick cause another viewing in a sec. we have had four offers munz, but all a bit short of what we want (or rather need!) to move house. its a slow market here in london, so rubbish timing to be moving.

george32 · 01/10/2005 13:38

Ooh, Rom, very of your lovely package of goodies.
Well even if they don't stop you being sick I'm sure they are all lovely.
I've already put in big hints to anyone that will listen that for Christmas, anything from the site will be fine

Munz, how exciting to be feeling your little one wriggling. There will be no stopping it now I'm sure yours won't be far behind Rom.

I can't believe Munz, Rom & Cadmum are all 17 weeks now. The time has absolutely flown by. Won't be long before we have our first beanie baby (no pressure J&BM!! )

Nemo, I'm so after your choccy brownies. Yum, yum, I hope they make Adam feel better.

Frizbe · 01/10/2005 17:59

Hi all, have been out working today, and whilst out, appear to have grown.....now struggling to fit into my spare pair of jeans....so that's me down to one pair of non maternity jeans (19 wks tomorrow!) and these were my two pairs of bigger size jeans from last time after the birth.....ot oh! think I'd better go maternity shopping tomorrow!
Rom, good luck with the house sale, I'd try and be moved by two months before at the latest, just cause it takes me that long normally to get sorted out! Hope you get to chill out tonight with your pampering goodies!
Munz, McD's always seems like a good idea at the time doesn't it If its any help I had a lovely Burger King, Bacon Double Cheeseburger on Friday, yummy!
Nemo, save me a brownie too! hope Adam's soon better, no fun being up half the night (and we're doing it all again! argh!)
Hi George, Cadmum, J&B's mummy and anyone else I've missed, hope your all having a good weekend?
Well cause I've been working, dd's potty training has gone out of the window today, even though I left strict instructions with granny, grrrrrrrrrrr, back to square one tomorrow then.pah.

Twiga · 01/10/2005 18:10

Cadmum, just wanted to nip on and say congratulations on such a positive scan, it must have been nerve wrecking but I'm so glad that things are looking good. Will get round to emailing soon, it's hard getting two mins peace at the moment but should get some time early in the week - dh is off work for a few days so could take over cuddles for a while to let me type. Hope the family are all well, lol x x x

Hope everyone else is keeping well, lol x

munz · 02/10/2005 12:12

yeah cheers then friz! lol - our nearest BK is in swansea (60 miles away!) I so miss their wopper burgers! lol - can't wait till I go up there for the day with DH after our 20 week scan to have a look round babies r us and mothercare (again have none of those closer!)

nearly went in there today - but opted for cherios instead.

going to risk a cheese and konion sandwich today with the tesco sandwich filling- it says all pasterised so that should be OK shouldn't it - it was just calling out buy me buy me at the counter!

nemo - did u get the browines done in the end?

rom - how did the viewings go?

Frizbe · 02/10/2005 14:26

Hi all hope your weekends are good?
Have been to Next this am, (on a sunday, how stupid of me) have managed to buy a pair of green combat type trousers for me in maternity, and dd has a top with tights and some new pants, which she chose with cats on them, hopefully these will encourage her into using the potty!
Have to say am totally shattered tho, after getting up with her from 3.30am onwards today, as she's got a poorly cold....kept saying poorly, tissue, and sorry, bless her but she got up and stayed up at 4.30......and ss got up at 6, cause we were up with dd, am starting to think, oh crikey how will I cope, I know I just will, but am just sooooo tired now!

Nemo1977 · 02/10/2005 17:05

hi all

I did get the brownies done and about half are left..lol

we have been out today to take Adam to see thomas the tank. He was a little angel bless him and soooooooooo excited to be on a train and see thomas..lol Although by mid afternoon his nurofen was wearing off so was saying his ears hurt..poor mite. Home now and he has had more meds and is a happy chappy...jus tneed to work out what we can have for tea.

romilly · 02/10/2005 19:01

well nemo i think the half that are left have our names on them (talking about the brownies, obviously)

frizbe sorry you have had a knackering sunday and i hope your dd's cold goes quickly. mine is thankfully on the way out. how about yours munz? did it kick in?

george & DQ - i have been applying my "muti" stick all weekend - and i still feel very sick (esp. in the evenings) but havent actually puked, so there is definitely progress mind you that could be attributed to being 17+ weeks now.

cadmum - the silence is reassuring this time, i am presuming you are having a lovely time with your d/h

well.... monday morning tomorrow, oh im soooo looking forward to seeing my boss again

Nemo1977 · 02/10/2005 19:06

Nemo hands out the virtual browniesnow just leave the little bit at hte end as I over cooked the edges.

munz · 02/10/2005 19:08

thanks nemo

they're fab!

cuppa tea anyone? he he

rom - if he gets to much just come onto MN i'll be on as usual all day - dreading the bosses return - oh no also have VAT returns/month end to do next week maybe not then.

romilly · 02/10/2005 19:11
