Oh Hugs to all the poorly babies out there.

RE nappies, the only ones that worked for dd were pampers, which cost us a lot more money than necessary I'm sure! although I get the feeling the direction her legs were held in due to the harness could well have been something to do with it......

Have been to aquanatal today, far more unfit than I remember!! felt soooo tired afterwards dd wouldn't let me sneak in a nap tho....

Bad news re my gran today, diagnosed with Skin Cancer......has a few months wait on NHS before they can deal with it, so hope it doesn't get any worse......

Frizbetheexpansionset · 05/01/2006 20:29

Cadmum, have been having a look for you, this site has a possibility in Bloomfield NJ, which you might like
bloomfieldnj you need to lob in search criteria upto USD 2000, 4 beds 1 bath and all areas, brings up 7 properties, obviously don't touch the ones in Newark!! but Bloomfield is ok, think Verona is ok too from what I remember.

Frizbetheexpansionset · 05/01/2006 20:31

Cadmum or this? link

Frizbetheexpansionset · 05/01/2006 20:38

Cadmum · 06/01/2006 14:02

WOOOOO HOOOOOO Bella! I am so pleased for you. Fantastic news. Now you just need the sticky dust. HMMMM Can I even remember how to make that happen? ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::*:::::::::::::::::::::::

OK That is rather lame but I hope you get the idea. Really hoping and praying that this little bean is a keeper.

Cadmum · 06/01/2006 14:21

Friz: Thanks so much for the advice. I am really reluctant to live in Jersey because DH already works insane hours and I can't really fathom spending so much time on my own in yet another unfamiliar city waiting endlessly for him to return home from work. We do have 2 appts. in Montclair this week-end because we could possibly afford a house for the same price as a flat in Manhattan.
We looked at two flats on Roosevelt Island yesterday evening and they were big and clean with amazing views. DH could actually walk to work once he is off the Island (via tram). The public school on the Island is amazing and as soon as DH has a permanent contract there is a bilingual (French/English) school right near the UN.

munz · 06/01/2006 14:23

so it looks like u're stopping there cads? that will be nice.

Cadmum · 06/01/2006 14:27

Not too sure yet... It would be nice to stop looking at really horrible roach infested flats and live somewhere semi-affordable. I am not great a decision at the best of times let alone 31 weeks pg with 3 insane little people running around my ankles for the last 7 months. I think that DH has taken the application forms with him to work as there are only two flats available for Feb 1 and they are bound to have people looking this week-end...

I suspect that he will be phoning me shortly to ask what I think and I wish I had a crystal ball!

How are you?

Cadmum · 06/01/2006 14:29

decision-maker even!

munz · 06/01/2006 14:43

lol, ah men! lol, i'm good thanks feeling v fat thou! fingers crossed u get one of the flats.

munz · 06/01/2006 14:48

is this place any good? apt in roosevelt

munz · 06/01/2006 14:50

or this here is more expensive thou. looks lovely, the first one has a small kitchen.

Cadmum · 06/01/2006 14:54

These are the very ones that we looked at!

Cadmum · 06/01/2006 14:57

The larger one is beyond our price range but DH can apply for a rental subsidy and six of us in a 2/3 bedroom might be a bit of a stretch.

The nice thing is that they have so many UN employees in their flats that they don't even ask for a fee to do a credit check and all they ask for is a letter confirming that you are employed by the UN. (No fee to break the lease if you are moved by the UN or at the end of your contract either...)

munz · 06/01/2006 15:02

seriously? (there's onthers there, a 5 bed but it was $5000 p/m I thought it would be too much! lol.

that second one is nicer I think! did think 2/3 bed would be a squish, but as u say the prices go up with 4 beds.

Cadmum · 06/01/2006 15:02

The larger one is also South and West facing on the 15th floor while the 2/3 bed is on the 5th. I am not 100% convinced that this is true but we were told that cockroaches seldom live above the 9th floor. (Can you tell that this is a fairly big issue for me?) We had roaches in our London flat and when DS2 was a baby I placed him on the bathmat on the floor following his bath only to have two of them skuttle out from underneath. I nearly lost my mind... Babies and big bugs are not a great combination!

Cadmum · 06/01/2006 15:05

We did live in a 2 bed flat in London but DH did most of his work in his office at the Uni or or in the library at the College so he never felt stuck in the flat. We also had access to many common areas and seldom did more than eat and sleep at home. I suspect that with 2 children in school and a newborn that we will spend more time in our flat...

munz · 06/01/2006 15:06

seriously? I didn't hear that but yes it's an issue for anyone I think. esp with the rental price u'll be paying. this one any good? here can u tell i'm bored at work?

Cadmum · 06/01/2006 15:07

Thanks ever-so much for looking for us. I am amazed by your kindness (often find the whole MN thing a near-miracle!)

Cadmum · 06/01/2006 15:12

Here is the floor plan of the 3/4 bedroom.

munz · 06/01/2006 15:14

it's ok, but I also did find these - now be honest! here and here

now look past the price tags lol.

(besides beats working on a fri avo!
