Anyone due in April 2004?!

Hello!

I found out last week I was pregnant, and although I've not been to my GP yet, various websites and Miriam Stoppard have told me I'm due on March 31st/April 1st! (poor little april fools baby - let's hope it's late...).

I know it's early days, but wanted to start this thread as I've already got lots of questions - like, is anyone else having quite bad pains? I've been getting bad period-type pains, which have been worrying me, but I understand people do get (this is my first pregnancy by the way!).

Right, that's it - hope I get some company soon..!

Hi all. Splash - we 'met' on the ttc thread - I am 5 weeks 5 days today too. Am only just beginning to feel symptoms - was v. emotional on Friday evening and my boobs ache (if I think about it). Funnily enough, I got much stronger symptoms the last two times I was pregnant (both of which ended in very early miscarriage). So I think if you don't feel symptoms it doesn't have to mean anything. That's what I'm telling myself anyway

There's a good thread For mums 2 be after m/c PART 3 , for anyone who's previously had a miscarriage.

Don't know how that happened!

splash · 26/08/2003 19:45

thanks hd, i am 5weeks 5days too. we r synchrinised and of course i remember you, ya nana. im not going too look at the links yet as im paranoid enough! still no more symp. how is everyone else feeling? we havent told anyone yet.

hewlettsdaughter · 26/08/2003 20:03

You'll find that other thread very supportive, you know, if/when you do want to join. I actually feel stranger posting here than on the after m/c thread - trying not to fixate on April 2004 yet!

bunny2 · 26/08/2003 20:24

Splash, I dont have many/any symptoms but HD made an interesting point about her symptoms being strong prior to m/c. My first pg was easy, a few symptoms but nothing bad, when I got pg a second time I felt awful, really sick all the time. That pg ended in m/c. So, lack of symptoms really doesnt mean a pg is doomed.

dot1 · 27/08/2003 13:15

dp had absolutely no symptoms at all when she was pregnant with ds and that all went perfectly - I think she thinks I'm a bit of a wuss complaining about feeling queasy..!

Talking of which, I've had my travel bands on all day so far and am feeling really good! Probably psychosomatic, but who cares?! Still feeling tired, but not half as bad as sick and tired..!

Hi Dot - just popping in to say hello again. I was the same, my first had hardly any symptoms really, she was fine, except for an 8 wk bleed, my second, I had loads of symptoms and m/carried, the third had no symptoms except achy boobs and m/carried, all so different!

dot1 · 27/08/2003 13:47

Hi Quackers - nice to see you! Hope you're doing OK and feeling positive about the future - I hope whenever you start trying again it doesn't take too long and all goes well.

Meanwhile I was stupid enough to do a bit of web surfing yesterday about having PCOS and being pregnant - lots of grim statistics about high levels of miscarriage, and getting gestational diabetes. I went home and cried all over dp (not that I'm emotional at the moment...!). Silly really, as I'm lucky enough to be pregnant, and have got to 9 weeks OK. I've got an appointment with an ante natal endocrinologist in 3 weeks time, but it seems like a long way away...

Anyway, I suppose there'll always be something to worry about.

Glad everything is going well for you dot - got luck with your appointment.

Does anyone know if Preggers has revealed herself yet?

OOoooooooppppssssssss :0

quackers · 27/08/2003 14:41

JEMS! Not heard form u today, come on over to our thread and chat xxx Still no sign of TM.
Hi all xx Good luck - Dot, you will always worry, part of being pg, just try not to worry too much, send positive vibes to your little one.xxx

hewlettsdaughter · 27/08/2003 20:09

Dot1 - is PCOS polycystic ovarian syndrome? I've heard of it but I don't really know what it means. Sorry to hear you're feeling low, hope you feel more positive soon

bunny2 · 27/08/2003 21:22

HD, PCOS is polycystic ovaries. I cant tell you much about it though, only it can interfer with fertility and lead to things like weight gain and facial hair. Also, Posh and Jamie Olivers' wife both have it (so much for the weight gain).

dot1 · 28/08/2003 08:58

ooh Bunny2 - I didn't know they had it! I'm unfortunately more typical in that I've always been big - although had lost 3 stone over the last year in an attempt to get fitter and get pregnant! I feel like I've put at least a stone back on though - daren't weigh myself...! (I'm sure I can't have - but I bet it's more than the 1 - 3 lbs Miriam says in the first trimester...).

Anyway, feeling much better sickness-wise yesterday and today - can thoroughly recommend travel bands - they seem to be doing the trick really well!

OP posts:
bunny2 · 28/08/2003 09:29

Well done for losing 3 stone, I'm impressed. I have already put on weight, dont own scales so I cant talk figures but from sideways, if I dont breathe in I could seriously be 7 months. Also, all my jeans, combats etc are v. tight. So much for what Miriam says.

dot1 · 28/08/2003 13:13

me too - already look like I'm about to give birth...! I'm a bit envious of slim pregnant women who get fab bumps (like dp!) - I don't think I'll get a bump - just all the fat will join up!

my lovely jeans which were almost too big - I was just about to go and buy the size smaller - are now getting to be a bit of a squeeze... Ah well - it's all down hill from here!

Anyone finding it hard to get excited about this pregnancy - i.e. a feeling of unreality and it just hasn't sunk in yet?

I don't mean that I'm not pleased that I am pregnant - just that I have a hard time believing it!

dot1 · 28/08/2003 14:40

yes, definitely finding it hard to get excited, or feel anything really, which I'm finding really weird. I tried for ages to get pregnant and have always wanted to have a baby, and this is very likely to be the only baby I have (because dp had our last one and will probably have the next one - she's very good at it!). So you'd think I'd be all excited and over the moon and relishing every minute... not at all - it doesn't feel real at all.

I don't know if things will change when we can feel our babies moving? I know I was much more excited when dp was pregnant - but maybe it's easier when it's someone else?

OP posts:
LucieB · 28/08/2003 14:52

I think its also because your friends and relatives tend to be less excited the second time around. Or thats what I have found anyway.
I go through waves of being excited and then being disappointed because other people don't seem as enthusiastic. Time seems to be moving very slowly at the moment (am 15 weeks, edd 17 Feb).

Lilysmum · 28/08/2003 15:13

Dot

Maybe it will change when - like you say - we feel our babies moving, or perhaps after the first scan when you see a baby shaped individual on the monitor!

bunny2 · 31/08/2003 09:31

I WANT SOME SYMPTOMS! I have no morning sickness, nothing. . Some times I ffel vaguely nauseous but it passes so quickly I think I imagined it. I want to feel pg, I want the reassurance that all is ok. Last time the foetus had died about 4 wks before I found out and I couldnt bear that to happen again. 6 wks and 2 days today.

hewlettsdaughter · 31/08/2003 11:12

That nausea thing is happening to me too, bunny2. Can't decide if I really am feeling it or imagining it!
