Hello!

I found out last week I was pregnant, and although I've not been to my GP yet, various websites and Miriam Stoppard have told me I'm due on March 31st/April 1st! (poor little april fools baby - let's hope it's late...).

I know it's early days, but wanted to start this thread as I've already got lots of questions - like, is anyone else having quite bad pains? I've been getting bad period-type pains, which have been worrying me, but I understand people do get (this is my first pregnancy by the way!).

Right, that's it - hope I get some company soon..!

Oooh, who are you? Tell us when you're ready. I dont really have any symptoms but I am tired and v. hungry (more so than usual as I am always greedy and lazy).

Jemma7 · 22/08/2003 14:13

Oh Preggers - unmask yourself!

Are u pleased about being pg again?

preggers · 22/08/2003 14:30

Wish I could un-mask myself but I have a couple of friends who know me by my other nickname, and use mumsnet and I don't feel ready to tell them just yet. I'd like to tell them IRL first, so until then I'll have to use this name.

I have very mixed feelings about this pg, despite the fact it was planned. Sometimes I feel , other times I feel . I think I am worried about m/c, having to deal with a tiny baby again, coping with two, will no2 be a 'difficult' baby, will it be OK etc etc. All the usual stuff I guess.

Congratulations btw to all other new mums on this thread. I've noticed there's a few from the ttc thread so thats doublely good news.

Apart friom feeling tired I don't have any symptoms. Yet last month when I wasn't pg, I felt very nausasous. How odd is that !

preggers · 22/08/2003 14:36

Forgot to add - Jemma7 - get testing - would love to know whether you'll be joining us on this thread !

Jemma7 · 22/08/2003 15:58

That is strange preggers - maybe you are further along than you thought? is that possible?

Unmask yourself only when you feel ready but i cannot wait to find out who it is...........

hewlettsdaughter · 22/08/2003 20:03

Ok, well having said I don't feel pregnant I burst into tears (dramatically!) this afternoon after speaking on the phone to a delivery firm which had failed - yet again - to deliver a parcel. Had stayed in all day (with ds, 4) which WAS frustrating - but still, it wasn't a normal reaction for me. Someone tell me this is normal for early pregnancy!

bunny2 · 22/08/2003 20:55

HD, I am v. emotional right now. I'm sure it's the hormones. I have started to feel more nauseous too today. Could be psychosymatic though I suppose.

hewlettsdaughter · 23/08/2003 13:17

Thanks bunny2. I keep expecting to go off coffee, tea etc soon - I remember doing that last time, don't know at what stage though.

bunny2 · 23/08/2003 13:36

I've lost the taste for coffee. I used to drink it al lday long but now a cup or two is enough. I put on some jeans today that I hadnt worn for a few weeks and they are tight. Putting on weight already, surely not!!

Buster1 · 24/08/2003 12:07

Hello everyone

I am due on the 13th of April a little worried about the changes that will happen to my life. This is my first, I am excited but I also feel like I am being left behind. Strange I know, it is hard to explain. Dot1, this is my first and my pains in my stomach are unbelievable. I am sick if I don't eat and when I do, I feel sick. I thought pregnancy was about blooming and a feeling of good will to all.

janh · 24/08/2003 12:37

Buster, you are about 7 weeks at the moment? Nausea usually lasts from about 6 weeks to 12-13 weeks and yes, it can be absolutely awful, even if you're not actually sick you can feel like death, and tend to be exhausted too, it is the worst part of the whole 9 months, it really should get better after that, you will bloom and glow (probably!).

It is an adventure the first time, scary but exciting too. Good luck!

janh · 24/08/2003 12:38

Sorry, I'm not pregnant, hope it's OK to post here!

bunny2 · 24/08/2003 14:19

Buster, in my first pg, I felt pretty awful for first 3 months then started to feel better. By 5 months I was definately blooming, I remember bounding around with loads of energy declaring I loved being pg and wanted 6 children. This lasted till the last month when I was so big and uncomfortable that I couldnt wait for it to be over. So, cheer up, the middle bit should be great.

Regarding being left behind, I am sure your frineds who havent had children feel they are being left behind. Once I had had a successful pg and fell into the role of Mum, my 2 best mates were pg within months.

bluecow · 26/08/2003 08:47

Congrats all new mums to be on this thread - mum2neve, bunny2, mum2bee, preggers, hewlettsdaughter and buster1! I am seven weeks tomorrow. Ref symptoms and stuff - with ds last year I was nauseous all the way through from week five. This time I feel just a little sick, still have an appetite and haven't gone off tea like I did last time - hurrah!
Buster1 - yes I am starving too. Wake up desperate for food! But like I say after being so sick last time round it's a nice change. I lost weight in my last pregnancy but I too think I am going to be huge by the end of this one.
Dot1 - where are you?

dot1 · 26/08/2003 09:25

Blimey! I go away for 2 weeks and find lots of company when I get back!! Hello everyone - I'm glad it's not just me on this thread now!

I'm 9 weeks tomorrow, and had a scan last week which showed there's one little blob there doing well! Got quite emotional when I heard the heartbeat...!

Going to have a nuchal (which isn't offered by my hospital, so we'll have to pay) in a few weeks - dp thinks I'm being a bit paranoid about things being wrong, but I think it'll bring a bit more peace of mind.

Hope everyone's doing really well - I'm soooooooo tired I don't know how I'm going to get through the next few weeks at work - I've had 2 hour naps almost every day of my annual leave! Also feeling v. nauseaus a lot of the time - haven't been sick, but feeling queasy. Fizzy drinks and chocolate seem to help (I know, not the healthiest of cures...). I'm going out today to buy some of those travel anti-sickness wrist bands to see if they work...

Hi Buster - just read your posting - the pains I had seem to have more or less gone now - at around about week 8. They were really scary when I first started getting them - from week 5 - and hardly any pregnancy books mention them. I think now they were just everything shifting around and making room (I'm so technical!). So, I hope your pains are starting to subside - I still get pull-type pains if I turn over in bed quickly, but other than that they're pretty much gone!

hello all new mums to be. i am 5weeks 5days at the moment. i am very happy to be pregnant. it feels very strange- this is my fourth time being preg and i havent got much symp. the odd time feeling sick and normal appetite if not less and tingling boobs occasionally, like when i was breastfeeding and needed to feed my baby. usually i am really bad with the feeling sick thing. usually all day only relieved by food. strange. this is freaking me out to the extent that things could be wrong. i have done 5 preg tests now last one on saturday. i need a scan now to make me believe everything is ok. is anyone else feeling like this. i never thought i would miss morning sickness!

dot1 · 26/08/2003 10:47

Hi Splash - I felt fine at 5 weeks 5 days! Thought I'd escaped the sickness feeling, but it started at around week 7 - so you may still have it to come (not that I'm wishing it on you, but I know what you mean - it's kind of a comfort to know things are hopefully OK because you're feeling so bad!)

OP posts:
bunny2 · 26/08/2003 13:02

Hi Splash, I am desperate for a scan to show everything's ok. I had a m/c last pg so things are quite tense. I am just behind you by 2 days!

Lilysmum · 26/08/2003 13:27

Hi everyone - I've not posted here before.

Splash - I'm just like you, worrying at my lack of pregnancy symptoms. I'm due on 19 April and I'm 6 weeks 2 days at the moment. No heavy, achey blue veined boobs, no abnormal tiredness (just the general tiredness I've always got) and no sickness. I was as sick as a dog with Lily!

Beginning to obsess that perhaps I've got a blighted ovum. Hope I am being just a bit neurotic!

preggers · 26/08/2003 14:29

Hi everyone again, and welcome Lilysmum.

In my first pg I had no symptoms either. I was convinced something was wrong. In the end I ended up ringing up my local hospital's early preg scan unit and got a scan when I was 9 wks. It was the only thing that re-assured me in the end. I was convinced that there would be nothing there. The ladies at the hospital were so lovely about it all and v understanding. So I think if my lack of symptoms continue I may just do the same again.

I have had a couple of waves of nausea today and on Sunday so maybe as dot1 says it maybe yet to come.

However I am feeling v v tired. I too get odd pulling type of pain on my left side if I suddenely turn over in bed or get up very quickly. Off to the drs tomorrow to get it all confirmed. I am dying to tell everyone but apart from dh, you girls on mumsnet are the only ones that know.

splash · 26/08/2003 14:30

lilysmum- you are thinking what i am thinking a blighted ovum. i should stop worrying.feel fine again today, a little tired but i usually feel that. i had a silent mis before @ nearly 19 weeks. i think this is why i am panicking. the doctor put me down for an early scan. but how early is that?

splash · 26/08/2003 14:31

preggers congratulations how preggers are you?

preggers · 26/08/2003 15:26

Splash - I am now 6 wks pg and due on the 20th April (according to the bbc parenting website which takes into account my shorter than average cycle). However if I work it out on the traditonal 28 day cycle it says that I am due on the 25th April and therefore only 5 weeks gone ! Its all very confusing ...

Lilysmum · 26/08/2003 15:54

Splash - it must have been really tough to experience a silent m/c at 19 weeks, when you've had all that time to put emotional investment into your expected baby....

Don't know when your early scan is likely to be, but hopefully soon since routine scans are frequently done by many health authorities (but not all)at 12 weeks. Will you be ringing your GP or the Early Pregnancy Unit to track progress with your appointment for early scan?
