Hello!

I found out last week I was pregnant, and although I've not been to my GP yet, various websites and Miriam Stoppard have told me I'm due on March 31st/April 1st! (poor little april fools baby - let's hope it's late...).

I know it's early days, but wanted to start this thread as I've already got lots of questions - like, is anyone else having quite bad pains? I've been getting bad period-type pains, which have been worrying me, but I understand people do get (this is my first pregnancy by the way!).

Right, that's it - hope I get some company soon..!

thanks - I've got a scan booked 3 weeks today, and it can't come quick enough! I've waited so long to get pregnant I really want to enjoy it, but am far too worried at the moment to do that..!

Defo nerves then Dot. I've been a little more relaxed today and it had paid off! No runs. I couldn't stop shaking yesterday and going to the loo!

Oh Dot, just been looking again on the Mnac thread! Trifle seems to really have a problem with Manc - and I can't believe she couldn't find friends there!! I had to laugh when you said you can't get used to poeple saying hello in the street when you;re up North without thinking there's something wrong!! I'm from Manchester, now live on the Isle of Man. Lived in London for 8 years and came back up North last year - best move ever - got tons of friends now. I think being a parent is amazing - it really is. First couple of months I really couldn't get used to it and had pnd. No friends and family - down south so was lonely! Glad you;re making the move up - really wish you and your DP well. Incidentally, could I ask ( don't know if you told us about it on the TTC thread). How did you go about getting a donor etc... Hope u don't mind me asking - just intrigued, so many difeerent Mum's here and that's the great thing!!

dot1 · 04/08/2003 09:47

Hi Quackers! Another Manchester lass - excellent! Poor old Trifle - she sounds not very happy at all...

I don't mind you asking at all! Our donor is a friend of ours - he went to school with dp. He lives in Manchester, is straight and single. We wanted someone who wouldn't mind being named on the birth certificate - because we think it's really important that our children know who their Dad is, which is why we didn't go through a clinic. Our donor is brilliant - we see him several times a year and he's interested in ds, but very happy not to be looking after him! I think when we eventually move we'll see him a bit more, and as ds grows up they might get closer, which dp and I are very happy about! Let's hope the same applies to this one - we've used the same donor (although he looked worried when we mentioned maybe wanting 3 the other week!). Basically we used a syringe and yoghurt pot - DIY so to speak! Can't quite believe it's worked - twice...!

Anyway, good luck with your scan this week - don't know what day it's on but let us know how it goes!

Quackers - I've just read the other thread - don't really understand the technical details, but I'm so sorry if things are going wrong - let me know how you're doing.

Lots of love and thoughts coming your way.

Hi Dot! Thanks so much for your lovely words. Its very sad yes, but I am dtermined to have another and will given a little time. Gosh he sounds a great bloke, so glad u wanted your children to know their Father. I am absolutely amazed at how you did it!! Saw it on Bad girls but thought surely the sperm would die, obviously not!!! Well good luck to all of you and those to come, hope to be a Mum again soon!! My dd is getting deparate for a baby bro/sis!!

dot1 · 07/08/2003 09:08

all my fingers and toes crossed for you Quackers - I really hope it happens soon for you. Yes, the sperm have got a good 20 minutes (or more) apparently, so as long as you time it well, it lives in the yoghurt pot! I'm still amazed it's worked twice though - I thought the first time must have been a fluke!!

Thanks Dot, will have to wait a while and let my womb heal properly this time and not rush into it!

bluecow · 13/08/2003 10:26

Well, I am pregnant! Five weeks today. Found out last week but didn't feel right about posting cos of Quackers' news. Quackers - hope you're doing good. Dot1 - how are you? As mentioned on Wickedwaterwitch's 'horrible heat rash' thread I'm just off to docs as v. itchy and fear it may be cholestasis which I had last time. Prob too early for it to be that but better safe etc. WWW - if you're reading this, didn't mean to put the frighteners on you!

Jemma7 · 13/08/2003 12:24

Congratulations Bluecow!!!!!!
I am soooo pleased for you

bluecow · 13/08/2003 20:08

Thanks Jemma7 - April 15 is my due date. The doc said 'And you're no spring chicken either'!!! Luckily that made me larf. Have a nasty metallic taste in mouth which I didn't have with ds (who's 9.5 months). Had to go for blood test today for liver function test (as mentioned this morning) as v itchy and doc though the whites of my eyes were maybe a bit yellow under the lower lids. But I worried so much with the last pregnancy that this time I think I can't worry like that again. Hopefully it'll all pan out okay.

holistix6 · 14/08/2003 23:24

holistix6 · 14/08/2003 23:34

bluecow · 15/08/2003 21:39

Holistix6 - big congrats!! I got backache in my last pregnancy, but not yet with this one. Sorry you're poorly - I hit week 6 next week and that's when I got sick last time. I think I've forgotten everything and I only had my first last October! I definitely seem to have a daffy pregnant brain already.

mum2neve · 20/08/2003 16:43

Hi - I have recently found out that I am pregnant with my second child, due 23rd April 2004, 2 days after my daughter's 4th birthday (bad planning !).

Still feeling a little jittery about the whole thing, but I guess when the sickness wears off, this might ease too.

I am feeling v, queasy and v, tired virtually all day long at the moment, and spend most of the day longing to lie down.

I'm glad you mentioned the back ache, because I am suffering from persistent aches in my lower back, something that I didn't sufer with in my first pregnancy - finding it a bit worrying. Is it normal ?

bunny2 · 21/08/2003 21:16

Cant believe I am here, I have looked longingly at this thread so many times. I am due 24th April (2 weeks before ds 4th b'day, Mum2neve we are almost synchronized ). It's going to be a fraught pg, I miscarried last time so there fear is there at the back of my mind but I'm sending lots of positive thoughts to my womb.

Dot, I'm an April Fool baby, it's great as noone forgets.

bunny2 · 21/08/2003 21:21

ps Dot, did you have a scan today?

mum2bee · 21/08/2003 21:25

Just found out I'm due on the 17th April, baby number 3 and a little unplanned! It is taking a little time to really enjoy the idea as it's a really bad time for us - when is it ever a good time though?

bunny2 · 22/08/2003 12:09

I love being on this thread . Is anyone else staving? I am all the time, cant stop thinking about my next meal. I'll be the size of a house by April.

preggers · 22/08/2003 13:06

I've changed my name for this as I haven't announced my news officially yet. I have found out just that I am due on the 20th April (5 wks now). This will be my 2nd.

Haven't been feeling sick at all mind - just heavy achy boobs. I am worried as I am not feeling sick and keep thinking that perhaps I am not really pg after all

hewlettsdaughter · 22/08/2003 13:20

Preggers - are you me? Due 22 April, don't feel at all pregnant (except maybe my boobs are a bit more tender than usual).

hewlettsdaughter · 22/08/2003 13:21

Oh, and this is my 2nd too!
