Banana muffins (I used buttermilk and no baking powder): www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/bananamuffins_71268

spotofcheerfulness · 09/07/2010 12:28

Ooh, Turnip that's really interesting! Is it INUK? Or SANDS?

spotofcheerfulness · 09/07/2010 12:29

Oh and thanks v much for the Fbook plug too .

Rubena · 09/07/2010 12:43

Mom - I only just logged in again, but Lady text me and told me of the place. It's a bit of a faff as I haven't got the car today to drive to the station, so the bus is half an hour then the train half an hour to WAT then either a tube or two or a 25 min walk across the bridge. Think I'm too much of a wimp for all that with this load out front and a teething ds plus 4 hours sleep last night! I wish I had of suggested if anyone wanted to come to mine but although it's probably doable for Sybs and Lady its probably a faff for you I think Mom and Kiwi, if you aren't drivers.

I've just walked 200 yards to the shop and that was an effort
ds has eaten and will very shortly nap (please) and I'm going to as well (fingers crossed!)

Mom I think you're clacker symptoms sound spot on. I was ravenous the first 3 months and often had 3 breakfasts or 2 lunches or both on a daily basis!

Kiwi sorry about rough night - stay strong

waitinggirl · 09/07/2010 12:50

mom - i know where you're coming from - i think waiting until next week is a good move. our second mc was a horrendous wait - we had a scan too early to really see anything - and it was a question of ooh, there's something there, but we're not sure, come back in 10 days, ooh, it's grown, but not enough, come back in 10 days for what seemed like infinitum. we have our scan booked for friday next week when i should be just shy of 8 weeks.

enjoy the meetup, everyone.

KiwiPanda · 09/07/2010 13:20

Ah alas couldn't have made it - DH had interview this am on CNN, then appointment, and am taking Dd to docs this afternoon as she's still not right - and anyway wouldn't want to spread her germs! Sorry to miss you all though

EffiePerine · 09/07/2010 16:04

How is DD Kiwi?

Veggiemummy · 09/07/2010 18:00

That rhymes Effie.

Rubena · 09/07/2010 18:04

she's a poet and she didn't know it

Veggiemummy · 09/07/2010 18:13

Haha I was just about to add that Rubs. I wander how the meet up went? Is it scorchio over there? It's well over 30 here. Had to abandon beach due to slowly cooking our children. Went to a cool festival this afternoon but feel quite burnt despite lashings of 50+ suncream. Was fun though quite a few girls I know went along so felt like being back in London and going to local festivals and meeting up with friends.

Rubena · 09/07/2010 18:18

Yeah it's over 30 here too. ds was just in the backyard a few minutes ago and actually took his t-shirt off then ran under the sprinkler
They would have been quite warm at the park - not a cloud in the sky! I hope they had cheerfulness on ice

KiwiPanda · 09/07/2010 18:39

Effie she's been in a filthy mood all day but better now and doc said no ear/throat infection so just a bit of a persistent virus I guess. Today has been a bit endless though, I am not good on 5 hours sleep..

KiwiPanda · 09/07/2010 18:40

Veggie I got terribly burnt legs in jersey so despite sweltering heat was in long trousers today!

EffiePerine · 09/07/2010 19:57

You OK Rubes? I hope you are taking it v v easy this weekend - Summer too.

Rain forecast for Monday - yay!

EffiePerine · 09/07/2010 19:59

Glad it's nothing serious. Maybe she's just in a bit of a bad mood with the heat - I got home today to both boys having screaming tantrums. Had to dunk them in tepid bath to get them to calm down. I'm just hoping they stay asleep!

Veggiemummy · 09/07/2010 21:30

Oh dear Kiwi. Well at least you can wear sandals to keep you cool, or can you not find sandals to fit those ginormous feet of yours. Sorry I couldn't help that, i hope you aren't offended cos I'm having a good giggle.

I forgot to tell you all that DS2 had a bad night with his teeth last night. I took him out & slept on the sofa with him because DH had an early meeting in Amsterdam so needed a good nights sleep. DS2 & I slept through after I took him out to the sofa but I got a crick in my neck and didn't sleep deeply. I needed all three coffees that I drank in quick succession.

JamInMyWellies · 09/07/2010 21:48

Scorchio, not sure my Scottish skin can cope with all this sun.

Hope the meet up was fun.

Rubena · 09/07/2010 22:14

Effie - yeah fine thanks, despite feeling the heat and carrying this load, I'd rather it warm than cold. No to the rain on Monday! I have a BBQ with db and co who have been very nice. Depends what website yu use though. BBC say no rain, Metcheck says possible but it keeps changing. Def cooler though at about 24 forcast.
How was the meetup ladies?

Nolda · 10/07/2010 12:01

Kiwi Glad to hear that the doctor didn't find anything serious and sorry to hear about the sunburn. I loved the story about your feet and the eclipse. I have the same size feet by the way.

I hope everyone enjoyed the meetup.

Today is DD's birthday party which has turned into a bit of a disaster. Of the 28 children I invited, this morning, after a few last minute cancellations, we are down to just 8! I wouldn't mind but we have booked bouncy castles at our local leisure centre and it's going to look like so obviously Katie No Mates in the big hall. Just been having a pathetic teary moment about it actually. I feel that my inability to make any friends with the mums at pre-school has now affected DD's socialising. It is very sad that a couple of my older mummy friends have had to cancel and let me down. Anyway better pull myself together and fill the party bags.

LadyThompson · 10/07/2010 13:06

Posting quickly on phone but Nolda - it's not your fault darling, just an unfortunate combo of sunny day, summer plans and people being crap. Bet your DD will have a super time. Don't fret xxx

EasilyConfusedIndith · 10/07/2010 15:36

Woohoo! dh just taken one kind of grouchy girl and one very annoying small boy to the park.

Avo at the cake yelling dd. My dd is much the same, very headstrong and in love with cake.

You are all odd. Banana muffins are horrible.

Kiwi glad you have had a good time being pampered. Poor dd though, hope she is better soon.

zj I can identify with your friend. I can be be such a worrier with dd. I go out in the evening now but only after putting her to bed. On Thursday I had an appointent ot give blood so I had to feed dd after her bath then habd her over to dh to read her story and put her to bed, it was the first time he had done it. Sounds like she needs some gentle encouragement.

Mom I hope all is well with you.

Nolda, not your fault at all, I'm sure dd will have a great time with her little gang of friends.

Same old same old here, just wishing dd would sleep so I can return to being a functioning human being. I'm weaning off the happy pills at the moment. I started off really well but that was when dd had a couple of weeks of sleeping like a semi-civilised person, now it isn't so good.

Right. I have macaroons to take out of the oven and a phone call to make in peace before the miscreants return.

Veggiemummy · 10/07/2010 18:01

veggie runs in crash tackles Indith & forces a banana muffin into her mouth<

& I'll be needing that macaroon recipe too.

Nolda that is completely crap about DD's birthday party. I think it's probably the weather, people suddenly get invited to impromtu BBQ's. Personally I'd prefer free entertainment for my kids but some people are cheeky, and don't think about their kids. I don't think you should be questioning your social ability when these people cancel lastminute to a kids party.

KiwiPanda · 10/07/2010 19:17

Poor Nolda not even remotely your fault, you did brilliantly to arrange all that and I'm sure those lovely 8 will have a great time

Today went to my niece and nephews "naming ceremony" eg secular christening. Had to read a poem with DD clinging to my feet... Her temperature is much better now but she's utterly miserable, just wants to be held or she goes mental, won't eat, has now got bad diaorrhea and is currently refusing to go to sleep... She has an awful snotty nose and keeps rubbing at her nose/eyes so maybe her sinuses are bothering her. She'll cheer up briefly and then just have huge strop, pushing herself around on her back in a most peculiar fashion. Sigh. Please please cheer up soon DD! Am exhausted! Too hot to be constantly toting around a sticky toddler...

KiwiPanda · 10/07/2010 19:19

Ps Nolda let's gang up on Veggie with her freakishly SMALL feet. We'll whack her around with our supersized flip flops...
