Thought the title might be appropriate for both mums and babies

Poppy we're looking at an away trip too but I think I'm too chicken. Although it I did it the girls would be left with their favorite sitter so probably a stress free idea.

Cyteen it's not the tea part that is the problem it's the midnight tummy issue. I tossed that last spaghetti batch without a thought. TOO HOT!

poppysocks · 06/07/2010 22:49

Sorry cyteen, not anxious at all. DH is away weekly with work and it's not often that I go away for either the day or overnight but it does happen. We were super worried about DD1 when we left her for the first time together at 18 months, especially as her grandparents (who we leave them with) aren't local and super familiar. She went to nursery as usual though and they kept her busy and utterly spoilt the rest of the time. She didn't notice a bit apparently.

Our second attempt at going away pre-DD2's birth, some of those with good memories around here might remember was a disaster as she woke up being sick on the day we left. She seemed a bit better so we left as planned but she then got worse and worse. In the end my Mum called us to come home. Naturally the 24 hr bug was up just as we walked back through the door. (Definitely a bug though and not anxiousness)

We really are far more worried about my Mum than the girls - they have each other too. We plan to keep much of their normal routine going and are going away on the days they'd normally be at nursery anyway. My Mum's also coming to stay in August, mainly to help out then but it'll also be good practice for both her and the girls.

Honestly, DS will be fine. They're old enough too now to explain that you will go away but you will come back. We actually told DD1 on that first occasion that we were both going away to work as she was used to us both doing that and we always came home.

Really must go to bed now. Poor DH needs to be at the airport by 5.30am tomorrow so needs to sleep now. Night all!

springaporesling · 07/07/2010 03:32

Poppy/Cyteen we're booked for August for 4 days/3 nights and am worried about it because obviously DS doesn't see Grandma & Grandad very often. I'm sure he'll be fine though.

QoD will second all the other comments on here. You do need to take action though and can't bury your head in the sand. Ultimately the bank doesn't want to lose your custom as that's not in their best interests if you get that sorted out at least that's the major headache out of the way. Although I only did it for a short period of time I found it really difficult not 'earning' my own money. Can you join another agency? I'm sure that you can get lots of practical advice on here as well re benefits etc aren't there also online surveys etc that you can get money for completing that kind of thing? If you don't already can you get MIL to commit to some set times to look after S so that you can do some cleaning or something or just get some time to yourself?

Dizzy congrats on the order and hope your Dad is doing ok.

MrsM lovely to hear of DH's adventures with DS. They are practicing for National Day (9 August) at the moment here and the jets and helicopters come over our house quite often and DS gets very excited about it.

MrsM hold onto pea nice and tightly

Dizzy fingers crossed your dad will be ok and i look forward to hearing more about your world conquering .. good luck with the delivery on Friday..

Re leavig the dds we have done it only a few time and left them in the hands of the cm... i worried alot more than they did, they were too busy having a good time!!

Anyway much love and see you all on the flip side xxxx

CrispyTheCrisp · 07/07/2010 07:47

Have a great time LOTI and make sure you get some time to relax and wind down with the girls. Hope H not too much of a twunt

QoD i have been thinking, and if DP doesn't want to hand over all the family finances and budgeting to you, then he needs to clear the o/d and work out a way with you that you have enough to get by on with enough for a little treat here and there. It is not good enough that you worry about whether you can buy food. You need a budget from him to spend every week and shop online so this doesn't go over and you can juggle your 'trolley' to make it work.
Sorry for keep going on but i spent years logging every receipt and knew my finances to the penny. I don't now (although plan to restart now i am not working), and i'm sure TS does similar to know where you are at all times

Spring you guys work very hard, so enjoy your break. No worrying - DS will be fine

dizzydixies · 07/07/2010 08:30

Terrible night with DD2 again and D up with the lark but the sun is shining, its DD1's birthday and by all accounts she is having a fab time down the road (thanks to dbrother keeping me updated) and I've got a photographer coming this morning to take pics of the cakes I thought I was doing ok with my photos but he seems to think he can help

Happy birthday EldestDixieChick and good luck with the photos Dizz

Have called the garage but no answer

I was going to send you guys my banking spreadsheet but i appear to have lost it along with my work computer. I will be doing another one though as i need to tighten up, so i'll circulate it next year when i get round to it......

CrispyTheCrisp · 07/07/2010 11:48

Ah bless, DD2 has fallen asleep in the spare carseat in the hallway . She loves climbing in and out of pushchairs and car seats and clipping herself in. I left her in there with a book whilst going to hoover downstairs and she conked out. It is just outside the utility room and the tumble drier is on so the rhythmic noise must have sent her off........

TwilightSurfer · 07/07/2010 12:17

Sazzles have a fun time in France.

Lucky you too!

Dizzy happy bday to your eldest!!

Today is my 13th wedding anniversary. I was boarding a plane to Las Vegas 13 years ago at this time.

springaporesling · 07/07/2010 12:17

not sure how I managed to post that twice - I did hit the infamous mn shut down though!

Ahh that's very sweet Crispy do hope you get the car sorted. Dh much better than me with the finances - must be the accountant in you both!

Happy Birthday to DD1 Dizzy

Loti enjoy the sun and time with the girls.

Quote for today: "...we really do have the power and the resources to create the reality that we prefer." J. Poole

I believe this quote describes us. We are the creators of our destiny. We each have such magnificent stories.

Sorry, I've been off reading alternative medicine concepts again. But I do believe in them so it's all good.

aarrgghhhhhh fecking Env Health have just phoned. Smooth talking irish charmer who was here last week isn't the bloke I needed to see and I now have to have another inspection by stroppy bloke next Tues. Feck, arse. I'm SO busy, will be back at work and could really do with not sleeping through fear of him needing to inspect behind the fridge

Happy Anny Surfers!

My gorgeous birthday girl phoned this morning she is having a ball and not missing me in the slightest Swimming and Strathclyde park today for her and then I'll have to phone to sort out when I'm picking her up.

Have funding lady coming today at 4pm all very last minute but as usual someone else who said they would do something sodding hasn't and its me to the rescue

CrispyTheCrisp · 07/07/2010 18:15

TS we are not off until monday . DH has made it to LeMans and has found somewhere for us to meet about 2 hrs from Calais (which is better than the 4hrs originally planned ). Happy anniversary BTW - are you celebrating in any way?

DD's new word is 'Why?'. After. EVERYTHING. Arrrrrgggghhhh . Even DD1 said in response to an earlier 'Why?', 'Because Mummy asked you to'. Smart cookie my DD1

Spoke to the garage re the car and they will be 'getting back to me'

Bugger on the Enviro people dizz - could you use the voucher for next weeks deep kitchen clean? What is the funding for? Still the cafe?

dizzydixies · 07/07/2010 18:17

Yes I'm thinking I might just do that as its TiTP weekend as we're up to our eyes. This is a £4k funding application for the cafe that someone said they would do last night and have decided today they're too busy. Had it not been for the efforts of another lady I would have said no [mug emoticon]

Loving DD1's v clever response!!

TwilightSurfer · 07/07/2010 19:40

Dizzy I'd help you scrub if I were closer. Downside to my PMS is a severe need to clean/organize. I fear for my fridge this weekend. My contact listS are being scrubbed now. Google sync screwed up my Blackberry contacts so I comparing everything to my YAHOO contacts then will be overwriting Blackberry with YAHOO. I'm sure that will become a complete mess before I'm done.

Sazzles great on half the travel time. As for celebrating, maybe. We'll ALL go out for dinner if he makes it home at a reasonable hour.

CrispyTheCrisp · 07/07/2010 19:46

CBeebies crisis averted after satellite signal went down earlier. I called our neighbour over to help (he is a MAHOOOOOSIVE footy fan and semi-final was about to start ) and he held the ladder and i went up to the roof, waved my loppers at the Wisteria, swore a lot bit and seem to have cleared it

Mind you, this was after DD1 screaming so much about not wanting to go to bed that she made herself sick . I cleared up, gave her some water and she meekly got into bed. Gave herself a bit of a fright i think

LOL TS you are mad (in a good way)

hotterpotter · 07/07/2010 20:05

Feeling a bit sick after eating toooo many biscuits at work today

Dizzy eek re enviro guy but had to LOL at TS' offer to help with the scrubbing, ooer am sure it will be absolutely fine. Also you are a better person than me re cafe, I would be sulking and refusing to help

Sazz oh poor DD hope she is OK and snoring happily now . It was DH's turn to sit with the DC tonight but it has gone awfully quiet up there and think he's fallen asleep too. Can I be arsed to wake him

hotterpotter · 07/07/2010 20:09

Happy Birthday DizzyGirl and Happy Anniversary TS 13 years eh? Lucky for some... Did you & DH get each other something lacy??? Just think yourself lucky, apparently the traditional 13th wedding anniversary present in the UK is a barometer

TwilightSurfer · 07/07/2010 20:11

HP head out the gutter please!

DIAPERS ARRIVED!!

hotterpotter · 07/07/2010 20:26

Phew!
