Fantastic news Miamla, does he get a big pay off too or just gardening leave?

DH has had a great week off (put the kids to bed most nights) and starts new job in Portsmouth tomorrow. My old car got sold today (to Webuyanycar - surprisingly honest and gave us over twice the online quote which we were going to accept anyway) so I am officially carless. How funny that suddenly I am self-employed and will be bussing it to work tomorrow! With Kurt still as CM hasn't got back to me, time to start looking further I think.

CaptainCaveman · 27/06/2010 21:06

lol at MrDIzzy , I just read his post out to dh and he looked at me in a slight state of shock whilst saying "do you mean men actually post on there" . I hope I haven't given him ideas...

Glorious day, football aside shite frickin england, most of it spent in the garden. O has mastered the art of the phone - using a fabric softener lid as the receiver he stated "lo" and then "bye bye". A man if ever there was one!

dizzy has your pain lessened any?

buckets good luck with your first day tomorrow! You seem to have had a remarkable weekend with free beer and then extra pennies for your car

CaptainCaveman · 27/06/2010 21:10

sorry buckets, is it your first day tomorrow too, or just dh's?

miamla that is FAB news, how jolly lovely! Enjoy

I've to be at the hospital for 9.30 tomorrow as both boys have an opthalmology appt for their bob eye squints. Ds1's isn't too bad but O has a very noticable squint. Bless my little keg-eye boys

GladioliBuckets · 27/06/2010 21:17

Oh yes, it's my first day with my other client tomorrow (BF's DH.)

MrsMiamla · 27/06/2010 22:08

no, no pay off. not sure why but he was only on a week's notice but has taken the opportunity to have some time off before he starts new job (they seemed quite flexible with start date). He almost gave me a heartattack when he was telling me last week.. conversation went along the lines of

dh: tomorrow's my last day at XXXX
me: so when are they paying you til?
dh: not sure, think its just a week
me: shit fuck shit fuck (or along those lines! its at this point i was trying to mentally work out how long we could afford to have him out of work)
dh: oh its ok, YYYY phoned today and offered me a new job
me: &^%$& why didn't you tell me that first???!!!!!
dh: i thought you'd want to know things in the order they happened
me:

buckets oooh how exciting! i hope you're going to have an early night tonight in preparation for tomorrow

cece i hope the appt goes well
i've spent most the afternoon playing 'bootball'! i tried to sit down and watch DS playing but that apparently didn't count as playing with him and he kept dragging me up onto my feet When will he be old enough to realise that in fact his mum isn't the best footballer in the world? at the moment he thinks my skillz (sic) are great!

hotterpotter · 27/06/2010 22:47

Yay for all the new jobs! Good luck tomorrow Mr & Mrs Buckets and enjoy having a SAHH for a while miamla

Surprisingly cheerful here despite the abject performance of the fecking twats footall team... poor DH, being a Leeds fan as well as an England one has left him well used to such disappointment and he has taken it remarkably well [phew] We are instead drinking mucky beer and smoking period pain remedy as I am on holiday

Moved DS into DD's room today as she has been wanting to share for a while now. Hoping we are not woken at 6am tomorrow, esp as it is my turn to get up with them. Any chance they will just play quietly together for an hour or two???

longwayfromhome · 27/06/2010 23:21

vamos vamos argentina!

vamos vamos argentina!

hotterpotter · 27/06/2010 23:23

Oi lwfh, we are doing OK here but don't bloody rub it in...

GladioliBuckets · 27/06/2010 23:29

What's mucky beer? Does it have Campari in it?

Thankfully none of my kids are interested in football. Keep telling DH we are in a golden age since they are all in bed at 7pm and we don't have to drive them round everywhere.

DS1 put himself to bed in his own room tonight, DS2 didn't seem to mind. Hope this continues so I can start watching Eastenders in my bed.

hotterpotter · 27/06/2010 23:36

Mucky beer just a generic term for booze, in an attempt to put the DC off drinking alcohol. In my case tonight a rather cheeky Pinot Grigio Hoping here too to raise geeky kids instead of heartbroken football fans

hotterpotter · 28/06/2010 00:02

Oh and buckets, River Song has been annoying me this whole series, maybe it was her make up after all Watched the finale tonight and shed a tear or two, can't believe we have to wait until Christmas for some new ones

springaporesling · 28/06/2010 05:01

LWFH hope you're not being a fairweather supporter . I am glad I went to bed at half-time as DS was up at 5.30am.

Buckets enjoy your first day!

Miamla enjoy all those extra lie-ins and lack of round trips. DS is doing the opposite i.e. I finish a story and it is either again, again or going to get another one from the shelf. We are imposing a limit of 3 stories a night (hopefully one v. short one in that).

DS not been in great form over the weekend still suffering from his cold and not sure if molars are coming as he keeps saying sore mouth - but I can't see anything. Hence he had his first mini-white magnum!

Love to all xxx

dizzydixies · 28/06/2010 07:59

Distinct lack of interest in football here too, sorry . Nothing at all to do with who it is, just not a football household & there is enough of a fuss about 11 overpaid egos chasing a wee ball around a field without us joining in too. Now if it were 15 of them that would be different and there are rugby matches on just now too andy Murray doing ok bless him, he just needs someone to help him loose his monotone chat & va va voom him up a touch lol

good luck today Buckets, all V exciting! Was online looking at VW campers last night & have fallen in love with a bright yellow one called Sunni, she's only £14.5k !

Yesterday went on, I was only there as a last minute & only had 2 stands & some traybakes. There was another stall solely selling cupcakes, big garish over frosted jobs. His daughter, approx 7, nipped over & had a nosey, them he did, then he marched over to get the event organiser & complained. Apparently he had been told that he was going to be only one selling cakes & had been advertising all over place etc. People were now buying my cakes & going on his fb pages & giving bad reviews cheeky bastard!!

Luckily I informed him it had been mainly traybake selling as anyone wishing to buy cupcakes had to pass him first to see us & that they had all been informed what company I was & wouldn't mistake us. When he told me it was nothing personal I informed him it was as I certainly had recieved nothing but compliments & if he was getting bad reviews it was because of his own cakes, not mine

I know the girl that runs the events company & she was brilliant about it but he ruined it for me I packed up the last of the cupcakes & left the traybakes but not before handing out some freebies & cards to the events team! Have checked his FB page & there are no duff reviews, have checked mine & cannot see how you would remove them, just report them. I also have 120 fans which is only one less than his, so please invite all your friends, and the events girl has added me & said she loves the cakes I left her!

Trying not to be petty & leave him a shite review lol
my friend bought one of his cakes & said it wasn't great, pah.

Good luck at work today VG. I have GP this morning to sign me back although met someone from work who was congratulating me on baby & asked when I was due. Got stupidly upset when I came home

sun shining, leg dead, time to go

oopsandbabycoconut · 28/06/2010 08:48

No football internest by me either, which left me in charge of both girls, a BBQ and making all the salads, brownies etc to go with it all. I struggled that grown ups could be so rude and offish to a little girl because they were more interested in a bunch of over paid goons chasing a ball that was apparently too round .

DD2 slept like a dream - she is now going 6 hours from first going to sleep (anytime between 8.30 and 10) then 3 hourly until 7.30/8 when she cooos until I get her out. DD1 on the other hand woke at 4 am starving and I unfortunately I got cross and told her to go back to sleep!

VG, Buckets and Mr Buckets have a good day at work.

Dizzy - of course your cakes were better you are Kitschy!! and haven't fallen for the gaudy icing is everything school of thinking. You make quality tasty cakes that look fab and taste better!

hotterpotter · 28/06/2010 08:55

Well night one of the room sharing was not a complete success . DD was 'scared' because we'd turned the lamp off to help keep DS asleep. No amount of reasoning that DS was there too to eat battle any monsters did any good and DH ended up on her bedroom floor until about 6am. She realised he was gone at 6.45 and the noise she make woke DS. At least they played quietly nicely for half a hour before I gave in and brought them downstairs. Could have been worse I suppose, but hoping for an improvement tonight...

Dizzy what an arse that man was well done you on remaining calm and not squishing a cupcake right in his face. Sounds like you are doing a great job getting your buns out around town and soon you will be famous and rich So sorry about the pg comment upsetting you too hope you are OK lovely girl

VG how sweet that DS wanted to chat I hope today goes fast for you and work is a surprisingly enjoyable pocket of grown-up time.

springa your photos are wobbly but lovely, your DH is quite a dish too isn't he!

cece my DH was boss eyed squinty as a child and ended up having an operation and wearing glasses for a few years. 40 years on from the op and his eye is still fine, infact he still doesn't need glasses

Right being pestered for stories...

hotterpotter · 28/06/2010 09:36

Oh lordy, only 9.30 and I am ready to throttle DD already...

luckoftheirish · 28/06/2010 10:49

"h" on fb declaring his love for me on our anniversary!! think he is trying crawling tactics!!!!

cyteen · 28/06/2010 13:17

How nice loti, I expect he'll be round in a bit to clean the house, take the girls out and give you a free pass to a spa for the coming weekend.

dizzy link us his facebook page so we can nosey

rugby [yawn]

tennis [yawwwwwwwnnnnnnn]

longway is it true that Maradona told the press after Argentina qualified 'to those that didn't believe: suck my cock...and keep on sucking' Legend.

cece hope the boys' appointment has gone well

hotter oh dear, I hope your two don't end up in the same room-sharing dilemma as me and my bro - he insisted he couldn't sleep in less than absolute darkness, I was terrified of the dark and demanded that mum leave the hall light on. Don't worry, it only went on for a few years

OP posts:
oopsandbabycoconut · 28/06/2010 13:28

Loti - what is he after??

Hi everyone else - flying by on our way to do 50000000 errands!

luckoftheirish · 28/06/2010 14:35

Oops thinking he is finally getting the message that I am so not happy with the situation and is trying to worm his way back in. Guilt!

longwayfromhome · 28/06/2010 15:07

cyteen uuum, yes, I had forgotten this ...

the streets are deserted every time there is a match on

DS asleep. Waiting for the cleaner ...

dizzydixies · 28/06/2010 15:28

scarlet bakery in dundee on FB cyteen

GladioliBuckets · 28/06/2010 18:41

Was his dd called Scarlet by any chance?

Good day's work for both me and DH except he has to go away for the whole of next week and supervise some other people. Thankfully I keep the car...

Loti Actions speak louder than words - practical, mindful love is worth fighting for. Guilt trips are not thoughtful or kind. Make sure you can spot the difference.
