evening everyone

we're back from our visit and i've made a hormonal woman cry! She loved the blocks that much!! I told her that her next child has to have a shorter name though! she reckons they're good enough to sell so i think i might just start doing that
her little daughter was so scrumptious. at seven weeks old she's still little enough to be pocket-sized but she's past the ultra fragile stage! DS was sooo good with her, lots of gentle kisses, stroking and he was really excited when friend asked if he wanted a cuddle. He sat down, as good as gold and gave her a really lovely gentle cuddle. We got some gorgeous photos of them both together. i'm so proud of him and really hoping that he's as loving towards his little sister

because of a late nap in the car on the way home, he's still up now, providing great entertainment pretend to be an opera singer! (we're watching bbc2, what makes a great tenor?)

cyteen high five for your pg dip (am assuming you will be awarded it), and great news for you on your decision to give yourself a life by stopping your masters.

dizzy your cake adventures sound wonderful. Have you mastered the art of a Crispy Creme donut yet? (I still have never tasted one!)

loti I hope dd1 is better v soon. Is 'h' still in the pub?

hotpot I'm glad you enjoyed the time with your sis, and especially that you are happy in your home . I agree, get dh to work on your decking . Re you having AF last weekend, Miamla would be quick to point out it could be implantation bleed! Or, my other friend will regale you with the story of how she had regular periods for the first 20 weeks of her 2nd pg...

spring how much did they charge for footie?

TS I only have one bank but dh and I, after 16 years together, have never had a joint bank account. We bank at different banks. The set up works for us both.

apologies if I missed anyone there! Can't work out why I'm so tired today. Must be the effort I put into lying in the sunshine!!

hotterpotter · 26/06/2010 22:10

After yesrterday's oasis of peace and tranquility today we have had....

A big rubbish fire in next door's garden leading to the arrival of a fire engine and telling-off by two (sadly not beefy) firemen this afternoon, the same neighbours then sparking up a petrol chainsaw at 9.30 pm (thankfully a quick yell over the fence and they turned it off again) and now the other (nice) neighbours are out having a barbie, chatting loudly and serenading each other / us with acoustic guitar and Polish singing! It's making me feel all cosmopolitan Will be glad when normal peace is resumed though...

ound like some lovely day have been had, good, but sorry DD1 now feeling rough Loti, hope she is soon on the mend

hotterpotter · 26/06/2010 22:16

cece that's why I did a test but no matter how much I squinted there wasn't a line. Glad to be sipping my pinot grigio without guilt tonight anyway

P.S - dear DH if you are reading this I apologise for coming home at 1.30am and making a fried egg sandwich and falling over the dog whilst trying to get into bed, please be aware that this was due to a dodgy prawn sandwich and nothing to do with the mixture of champagne, vodka and some weirdy green stuff that kept appearing in shot glasses Apparently all very proud of me recent endeavours and wished to by me drinks to celebrate but that sandwich just looked plain wrong

oopsandbabycoconut · 27/06/2010 08:17

Dizzy -

MrDizzy · 27/06/2010 09:34

My darling,

Please, think nothing of the fried egg sandwich (I have wiped up the grease stain on your pillow, precious one) and the dog incident (the vet assures me the post-traumatic stress syndrome can be addressed through counselling and arnica).

I will be making you up a bacon butty in just a few minutes, once I have plucked a couple of orchids for the tray. Please feel free to stay out as late and as drunkenly as you like and be assured I will always, always be here for you because ofyourwhitechocolatecheesecake I love you,

xxx

Aloha from scorching Southampton. From my patio at pretty much the highest point of the city, I heard all the cheering, was v strange hearing that much unity, like VE day or sommat. And the time delay between different TVs made it go on for ages.

Funny people should mention birthdays and tat. Have just read Tom Hodgkinson's The Idle Parent at last and my goodness, I feel compelled to share it with you all! Anyone want to join a bookring? I.e you go on my virtual waiting list and I post my copy to the first person, when finished they post it to the next one, and so on back to me.
It is all about letting your children get on with being children, not feeling obliged to follow the herd, having your own life and not feeling guilty.
Was inspired by the book to throw out 2 binbags of tat last night (DD was at a sleepover or it would never have happened) and am going to stop feeling guilty about chucking gifts/handmedowns people have given us. DS1's 3' high/wide crane is about to be Freecycled even though he only got in Feb. The uncle who bought it will be getting The Idle Parent for Xmas now he is a dad. We did ban toys as gifts one or two Xmasses ago and am tempted to do that again, definitely going to ask for money for Kurt's birthday this year (seeing as we raided their college funds to buy the new car).

cyteen · 27/06/2010 16:54

I'd like to read that Gladders, was thinking of buying a copy the other day so a free read would be much welcomed. Especially now I have more free time for such things DP and I have just been talking about similar in fact, since we've spent the whole weekend pottering about the house and DS has seemed to really enjoy it.

Mr Dizz just snorted when I showed him the above post that he wrote

thanks ladies, I have had a shite day, more than you would believe and thank feck I have an understanding DH and BF shall come back later and tell you all about it if I haven't committed hari kari on a sharpened spatula

GladioliBuckets · 27/06/2010 18:24

Oh lordy. I have chocolate-ish flapjacks a brewing, will plump up the cushions in the talk-pit and mix us all up a jug of something 70s. Campari perhaps.

Have had lovely lazy day, gave up a lie-in in favour of breakfast at McDs with the boys. My dad worked on the real ale train last night so when we went to collect DD he presented us with several litres of leftover local beer, hurrah. Tried unsuccessfully to teach DD knitting but that's one tick off her nag list. Waiting for a swing/climbing frame set to finish on Ebay and Dr Who to start. (Doesn't Alex Kingston look dreadful? Bad bad make up this series.)

MrsMiamla · 27/06/2010 19:25

buckets you got any pimms going free?

dizz I don't understand why you emphasised the 'he' in your comment (I've just reread it and its still making me giggle!)

CrispyTheCrisp · 27/06/2010 19:47

Evening

Very tired, but lovely time had by all. We put the swimming pool up and children and adults all enjoyed. DH still trying to convince me that he was surprised by it but i'm not sure I believe him. I have done both mornings with the DD's, shopped, prepped, socialised and cleared up all pretty much single handed so am almost broken. Went to bed at 5.30 and got up 1/2hr ago when DD1 bit DD2 . She is exhausted but still

Buckets book sounds great. I will add to the list if poss

dizz loving the fried egg sarnies, nuroden and MrDizz

MrsMiamla · 27/06/2010 20:06

not surprised you're tired crisp! well done with all your efforts, sounds like you did a great job

i'm feeling a bit guilty tonight but i know he needs to learn... DS has started refusing to let me read him a story before bed so instead of fighting him, i've started just going along with it. tonight was one of those nights. i've just been up to check him and his teddies are all lined up in a row on one side of the book and he looks like he's fallen asleep reading it to them. oh and last night, he was equally cute.. he actually made a nest out of his teddies and fell asleep lying on top of them all whilst wearing his ferrari cap. DH took some photos so no doubt they'll appear on fb at some point!

ooooh, i almost forgot my news!!!!! DH was made redundant on friday (on the same day he was going to hand his notice in!!) because he's got a new job! anyhow, the exciting bit is that he's now off for a month!!!! He's looking after DS whilst i'm at work so no more long round trips to pick DS up from my mum's and (hopefully!) i'll be coming home to dinner on the table! It obviously also means that we can share the care of DS over the next few weeks and (hopefully!) i'll get some time off oooh and possibly even the odd lie-in!

dizzydixies · 27/06/2010 20:12

lovely news Miamla

well done Sazz, dark room and glass of something for you darling
