Hello new thread

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

gingeme - yay for furniture Grin

Does anyones DC still have horrific tantrums or is it just M? Hmm

Today she has had a 45min tantrum upstairs and proceeded to take all her clothes off during it Hmm I don't even know what the tantrum was about...

She just seems to have been having tantrums forever

My new tactic is everytime she starts screaming and throwing herself about (which happens a lot) I am picking her up and plonking her in hallway by front door and she will not be allowed back in kitchen/front room until she has stopped/calmed down.

Does this sound alright??

Naughty step works well if she has hit/bitten J too.

latrucha · 17/12/2010 12:46

just realised I fell off the end of this thread. Don't be offended, I'm not even trying on the other one!

Is it up yet Gingeme? Exciting!

Simpson - I think Sabela's behaviour is in some ways more difficult than before because it's so conscious. We can have days like today when she's just darling and then days like th one we had a few days ago when she refused to smile all day or be nice at all. Even when I gave her some chocolate buttons (which is a really rare treat) as a reward (and a little bit of a test) she was delighted for about a second and then literally wiped the smile off her face and gave me a really dirty look. Those days can be very long. And we usually need to put our foot down at some point in the morning with her incessant demands (and then she either gets nice or gets horrible - but she decides which!)

latrucha · 17/12/2010 15:15

I should also tell you this story, which had me totally gobsmacked.

The other day, I had a wrangle with Sabela mid-morning over a chocolate biscuit which I disallowed her.

She was a little moo ALL day.

When I took her up to bed, I asked her what had gone wrong in the day and she said, 'Sorry mummy. Cross chocolate biscuit.' So I said, 'Have you really been horrible all day because I didn't let you have a biscuit this morning?' and she said yes!

At least she won't have any problems with perseverence in this life!

simpson · 17/12/2010 18:18

LaT - that totally made me LOL Grin Grin

simpson · 19/12/2010 18:51

How is everybody doing in thw snow??

My mum is stuck in Bangkok (via Oz) just hope she is back for Christmas Sad

I am climbing the walls with boredom Stuck in for a fortnight with CP and now snow ahhhhh!!!

My dad is coming round tomorrow so I can go to the pet shop (impossible with DC & buggy) to get cat litter/food etc...

But the good news is that he is bringing over my old wooden sledge I had as a child for J&M to use which will make life much easier Grin

gingeme · 20/12/2010 13:43

Bless Sabela Smile
That all important trip to the pet shop eh Simpson.
The boys are loving the snow here, even the big ones who came up yesterday. I personaly hate it and don't see the point unless its Christmas Day Xmas Hmm
Alls well here. Did my last bit of presant shopping this morning with my big boys. Taking Tango to the vets tomorrow to have him neutored Xmas Grin and chipped. He can then start going out on the 25th. He has already had a couple of trips into the garden with me and realy enjoyed sniffing around . He loves watching the birds on the bird table through the kitchen window so I think hes going to love getting up close and personel.
DH is only off Christmas Day this year. He usualy wangles boxing day off too. But hopefuly he will get New Years eve off as we have been invited to a grown up party and already have a babysitter Xmas Grin
Simpson is your Mum with you yet?
Hope everyone else is ok and not too freezing . x

latrucha · 21/12/2010 11:33

That's not exactly what I was thinking Gingeme Wink
Drastic measures are needed with Sabela's sleep. CC is not working, and I think is now counter-productive.

latrucha · 21/12/2010 18:57

Can I ask how long all your nearly threes spend in the nursery (if they go - I think everyone's do)?

JustKeepSnowing · 21/12/2010 19:36

LaT - not sure what to recommend re sleep now. Think a different tactic required - as long as you both have been sticking to the same thing re CC? Even one hint of weakness can throw off a week's work.

H goes to a pre-sch/nursery for 2 sessions a week, 9-12.15. He's adding a third session from January.
So will be 9.75hrs a week.

G - hope all the furniture is up and stocked now? Must be good to feel even more settled, and bet the boys are all loving the snow in the garden!

Simps - any sign of being able to get out with the DC anytime soon?

Just seen on the BBC heavy snow forecast for Midlands/East Anglia tomorrow, gah. Pretty sure parents won't make it from Devon on Thurs. Hey ho, a nice quiet Christmas just the 4 of us is appealing right now

Last minute check on Christmas/Hannukah (sp? that looks wrong) presents for the nearly-3-year olds:

H has:

  • a couple of books
  • ITNG megabloks set
  • Crayola Glow Station
  • liquid timer
  • colour changing light thingie
  • a fire exit sign (he loves the man!!)
  • some white chocolate

think that's it, not v exciting for him at all really, so will prob put some money in his bank account for the future instead of just buying for the sake of it. He already has about £30 from relatives to spend in ELC so will end up combining that into birthday i think.

Speaking of, when is our first birthday? must be soon. Hope we haven't missed it, i will hunt down a list.

From Easter she will get her 3yr funding at the nursery so for one term she will go on fridays too.

Then in Sept she will go to the nursery attached to J's school from 8.30 till 11.30 every weekday.

JKS - not been out yet!!! Snow still bad here although my mum is popping round tom to see kids etc.

gingeme · 21/12/2010 22:43

Wow JKS that looks a short list somehow Shock
Can't believe its only a few weeks till theyre all 3 !
LaT what do you have planned next with the sleep situation. Keep us posted and good luck x
Yeah the furnitures all up now and looking like home Smile at last.
The boys are just loving the snow, big boys included who are here till next Tuesday.
We had Tango neutored today and micro chipped too. Went to get him at 3pm from the vets. I thought he would be all dopey and tired but he hasn't stopped jumping around like a mad thing yet. Going to buy him a collar tomorrow and he can start going outside on Friday.
Well thats about it from the gingeme household.
Keep warm everyone xx

G - just my opinion, worth thinking about though, be careful with a cat collar, either don't have one, or get one that is designed to snap/open if it gets caught on something. Cats & normal collars don't really go.

Simps - hope you have fun with your Mum today, glad she got back home!

Not much on today, little jobs & H's portage worker.

latrucha · 22/12/2010 13:39

Thanks guys.

We have nothing planned about sleep. It's chaos. Usually she settles down after a very short period but we seem to have been at it for weeks (when did I post here) and it's just getting worse. DH took over last night and it was dreadful. I can't face having her in our room, but it als seems like it might be the only thing to make her less anxious.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 22/12/2010 14:47

Hello all.

JKS well done on finding the list.

Our presents for E:

Coat (they both needed them so thought why not)
Room on the Broom book (he is obsessed with the audio)
Trumpet - his choice
Little learnign laptop
Toy Story 3 dvd
PJs - for Xmas eve

Not that interesting - he has some games (hungry hippos etc and a guitar) from family.

simpson · 22/12/2010 16:45

pressies that M has got:

guitar (she asked)
fairy dressing up outfit (she asked)
"real" fairy (she asked)
Happyland school (she is obsessed with school Grin
sweets (she asked)
books (from my mum)

Don't know what else my relatives have bought her and there are 3 parcels from Ireland Shock for Dc which have not been opened yet.

J has got:

Ben10 outfit (ebay)
guitar
sweets
playmobile (from my mum)
Toy story 3 (from my dad)
walkie talkies
leap frog leapster

JustKeepSnowing · 22/12/2010 17:19

Simps - what fairy did you go for?

Have got some parcels from family too so don't know what's in those.

Have forgotten to list the helium balloons i haven't got yet. Going to get 2 big ones + normal balloons and fill a big cardboard box i've saved from new car seat we got for T a while back. will stick odds & sods of wrapping paper on it, hoping it will be the star present, lol!

JustKeepSnowing · 22/12/2010 17:27

T has loads, prob too much:

train table (off ebay, paid for with ebay selling, so 'free'!)
(train set coming from Nanny)
toy story stuff (duvet cover, cutlery, socks, etc)
toy story wall stickers
ben 10 keyring
books
dvds
highlighters (as you do for a 4 year old!)
new magnifying glass (last one broke)
Mr Matey bubble bath Xmas Grin
wind-up teeth

sweets, vests, toothbrushes, comics (for both)

actually maybe not too much, nothing really big except the table and that is for both of them in truth although we'll have to call it 'T's table' lol.

simpson · 22/12/2010 18:02

Oops I forgot to mention that my youngest brother is going to Italy for a yr and is giving the Dcs (and me!!) his Wii

Grin Grin

JKS - in the end I got one off amazon.

Not very "real" at all but the ones in Hawkins would not have withstood her rough play I don't think Grin

madmouse · 22/12/2010 20:16

Nathan is getting the ELC Cobblestone Farm (chosen as big enough to drive his cars in too Grin)

Erm that's it from us...

However I got a huge box of gifts from MN Secret Santa most of them for Nathan, My Dad and stepmum have sent gifts as have his godparents and one of our friends. The other godparents will give him matching figurines for his farm, other friends will give him something too.

Net result will be far too many cars/trucks/trains/tractors.....Hmm

But hey it's Christmas!

latrucha · 22/12/2010 20:35

Sabela has her presents divided between English and Spanish Christmas (6th Jan)

Doll's house
Pjs

Oh god.. do you kow I actually can't remember the restbut lots of things like Peppa Pig sandwich bag, glitter lamp, torch etc...

AngeChica · 22/12/2010 22:23

So... a quick Christmas message to all on the thread. we are off to my folks in Suffolk tomorrow (fingers crossed for a safe journey) so will be offline for a while. happy holidays to all. :)

A is getting the ELC wooden garage and mainly puzzles and books. My folks have got him some of that Fisher Price Trio which looks like it will keep him entertained as he just loves construction toys.

A is starting preschool on 5 Jan, 3 mornings a week and then 4 after Easter.

AngeChica · 22/12/2010 22:28

oh yes and feliz reyes LaT & MrsMc. In Catalonia they also had the Caga Tio - children hit a Yule Log with sticks and he "poos" out the presents. Hmm

mixedmamameansbusiness · 23/12/2010 12:00

S has similar bits to E really:

Coat
The Smartest Giant in Town Book (they both love Julia Donaldson)
Shrek (we cant wait to watch this)
Frustration board game (I had this as a child so irrationally excited)
PJs
Puzzles

I see a Toy story trend.

S will be moving into our spare room in the next few months and he has mentally decorated as Toy Story. I think the plan is to get the room completely ready for his bday in Feb and it will be his present - is that awful and stingy?????

Did all our Xmas shopping on Tuesday and also bought our pushchair/sling/cot and they said delivery after 4th jan but it has turned up today. Excited.

JKS - I cant believe how far along you are already. Did you find out the sex?
