Filly - I couldn't agree more. Tell DH! He's just too hands on (Strange complaint about a DH that one LaT )

Let's hope you're right about DC2.

Sorry the sweep didn't get things going. I have had enough. Feeling really weedy and dizzy, though nothing wrong. And I've still got about 2 weeks to go!

LuckySalem · 18/06/2010 23:59

Sorry your stil here Filly,
My thing was swimming, got em both out

LaT - We've been quite lucky in that Aaliyah will play alot on her own, she's Miss Independant. HOWEVER we get loads of questions throughout the day whats that "a tree" whats that "another tree" lol

simpson · 19/06/2010 16:28

Two total Molly isms today

The DCs were making H's fathers day cards and M decided it would be more fun to draw all over her tummy and I do mean all over

She said "Look at me mummy, I pretty girl"

Was not planning on bathing her tonight may have to rethink that one

Also have just come back from next door to see the litter of kittens they have (one tabby, one black and one brown) When I asked Molly which one she wanted she said "the pink one" PMSL

Real Nathan-ism, desperate to say truck he keeps saying vuck vuck vuck - including on the bus yesterday which earned me A Look...

Had an email from Law Centre that they want to offer me a post despite the funding decision still being delayed. Need to call them next week to find details and agree start date etc I presume.

Filly not seen you on fb today so hoping...

Hi everyone else

Isn't it cute when they get things wrong in their speech. My favourites from Sabela at the moment are 'disonaur' for dinosaur and 'babalones' for pantalones ('trousers' in Spanish).

LaTrucha · 19/06/2010 21:26

And if you can put up with more cute-isms:

Sabela and I were having a lie-down cuddle on the sofa after lunch the other day. She had found some way of lying across my bump and I stroked her back while we watched a bit of TV. Gradually she slid to the floor and giggled and then jumped up threw her arms around me and said, 'Oooo I LIKE you mummy!' Heart melt.

The other day as I was strapping her into her new car seat, I explained that the baby would have a carseat next to hers soon. She patted my tummy and gave her customary 'bigger, bigger' (as she knows the baby has to get bigger before it comes out) then said, 'Damelo mummy!' (Give me it mummy! in Spanish). It must seem liek it has been getting bigger forever to her. It sertainly does to me!

Congratulations on the job, WST. And snurk at 'vuck'. Along the same lines, a friend of mine's LO calls Makka Pakka 'It's a bugger'

LuckySalem · 19/06/2010 21:28

Well I was having trouble getting Aaliyah to go to sleep last night and I told her if she didn't go to sleep soon she'd be tired tomorrow and wouldnt be able to go to NainEs (my mums house) so she told me that "ali sleep longer tomorrow" lol

gingeme · 19/06/2010 21:51

Good evevning ladies
Aw cute kittens Simpson. I want one
Vuck ! Hmmmm just be lucky he didn't say the real word as DS2 did once on the bus when he dropped his bag at about age 3 I watched my language after that
We have worked out that George is a sneak ! If the boys are all eating lunch at their table in the front room and watching the tele he will happily sneak food off their plates or drink their drinks. Tonight I put him to bed and half hour later put David to bed to find George was playing with a car in his bed but as I opened the door he pulled his cover over the car and pretended to be asleep with a wry little grin on his face and in the morning when he hears DH or I go to the lo he'll make out he's been hurt and gives his best pretend crying so DH lets him come in our bed where he settles down with DH's iphone and that wry little grin
I'm doing my Race For Life tomorrow. Realy don't feel up to it as I'm full of cold and bunged up but I'll drag myself round. Just hope the weather cheers up a bit
Well I'm off to FB to do some farming
xx

fillybuster · 20/06/2010 15:24

Loving all the cute comments - this really is such a lovely age

No movement here, sorry WST....we've tried everything: castor oil, curry, swimming, being active, being chilled, cheerleading the baby - everything! So I guess I'll be induced tomorrow morning...

Trying not to get too worked up or upset about it now, on the grounds that a 3rd large, back to back labour was always going to end up on the labour ward by the end anyway, regardless of how it starts. Obviously I'm not that happy, as DS' induction was a bloody nightmare and T's natural start at home was a heck of a lot nicer, but in the end they were both 26+ hours, both required epidurals, tearing/cutting and stitches...and both were worth it. So yes, I'd rather get started at home, but I'm going to trust that UCH is a nicer hospital than where I had DS, and they've generally been better at everything through this pg and the last, so I need to just believe it will be ok.

(Ever get the impression you're trying to convince yourself of something?? )

Hope you're all enjoying the weekend - I may be offline for a few days now ...

JustKeepSwimming · 20/06/2010 16:22

Good luck Filly!!!!
(hopefully 3rd time lucky and an easier & shorter labour this time round)

Out last night and overdid it so a lazy quiet day today.

In the process of setting up a sensory corner for H, going to get a big acrylic mirror plus various different tactile bits, hope he likes it once it's finished.

Not much else to report here.

LaTrucha · 20/06/2010 18:53

Wishing you a quick and easy delivery Filly. I'll be thinking of you!

Sabela did her first poo on the potty today. It was a bit of an accident as we were at a party, nappies and all off in the garden. I saw she was starting to go and quickly grabbed a potty and put her on. SHe was very good and stayed on until she was finished and din't get upset of freaked out. In fact, she gave herself a round of applause. I was very proud. Someone tell her she is NOT to potty train until I have this baby. Perleaese!

JKS - that sounds lovely.

Gingeme - hope race for life went well.

simpson · 20/06/2010 19:57

Good luck Filly!!!

yay for Sabela

My dad bought M yet another red teddy today as she saw it in the sports shop and wanted it. So now she has 3

MrsMcJnr · 20/06/2010 22:14

Hello

LuckySalem · 20/06/2010 22:37

Good luck Filly

Simps - Wish I could find some more of Aaliyah's teddy and Hippo. I think if that goes missing we'd never get any sleep.

WAY TO GO sabela!!

fillybuster · 20/06/2010 23:36

Contractions have started, although I still don't believe they are 'real' and fully expect them to fade into nothingness in an hour or two...

Either way, no MN from now until I get home with the fillyflump as my blackberry can't cope with MN! I should be able to FB (maybe...) if there is coverage in the hospital (v patchy)...

So keep your fingers and toes crossed for me xx

simpson · 21/06/2010 08:13

Oh Filly hope this is it!!!

JustKeepSwimming · 21/06/2010 09:20

Ooh Filly, hope they didn't taper off and all goes well today!

Will be watching FB for an announcement!!

Lucky - put up a photo of them and we'll hunt down some spares

H fed himself yoghurt with a spoon today
putting it back in again and again, looking as if he'd been doing it forever!

Currently standing on a chair bashing the piano/keyboard, he loves his music.

Got to get out and do jobs whilst T is at pre-sch, only a few more weeks til school holidays, eek!

LuckySalem · 21/06/2010 13:20

Good luck filly!!

Will try to get a pic of him when he's not clutched in her arms!! lol

LaTrucha · 21/06/2010 17:57

Good luck Filly. I hope baby is already here in fact!

Did you get a pic Lucky?

simpson · 21/06/2010 19:06

OK got a question for you guys which I don't dare post anywhere else on MN

But is it possible for a child to teach themselves to read???

Basically J went upstairs to get some old school reading books (Biff & Kipper type ones but the easiest basic level)because his RL friend was here with her mother and J's friend is struggling a bit with her reading and wanted to practice.

M grabbed a book and proceeded to read some of the words

My friend heard too and our jaws hit the floor. I have never read these books in front of her at all!!

willsurvivethis · 21/06/2010 19:21

Oh wow Simpson - M is more amazing by the minute. The answer is yes it is possible, I did, but in the summer before I went to school and with lots of practice.

Filly - hope you are doing ok!!

OP posts:
simpson · 21/06/2010 19:54

WST - what is the best thing to do?? Help teach her or leave it for a bit...

Sending positive labour vibes to Filly!

LaTrucha · 21/06/2010 19:57

I've heard of children being taught to recognise words this early but not to read.

Personally, I would purely follow her interest at this age, doing nothing that she doesn't lead. If she wants to spell out letters etc then I'd do it, if not leave it alone.

!Vamos Espana! (In case Angechica and MrsMc are out there!)

willsurvivethis · 21/06/2010 20:07

LaT is right - let her natural curiosity/hunger to learn lead the way - the rest is for school.

OP posts:
simpson · 21/06/2010 20:31

I guess thats what she is doing, recognising words but not really reading as the words were some of the days of the week and she does not even know what a day of the week is!!!
