Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
dizzydixies · 15/04/2010 13:11

lol at Mr Sazz and the wet mobile - funnily enough I can see that

Miamla - how exciting, only 4 days to go - can we start talking names then?!?

whether this is a boy or a well behaved wee girl, she's never going to be called Hugo DH isn't having any of it due to a wee Irish country and western singer called Hugo Dixie that his dad tortured him with everytime they went anywhere in the car the wee man from strabane

AIBU sitting on the couch watching Australian Masterchef and doing feck all today? i know I know, I still have to go to the shops and DD1 has a play date starting at 2pm although still running about in her jammies

TS - am very envious of your pilates, I'd love to have the time to do something that much. I agree with the others, there are relaxation techniques you can teach yourself and cut out the numpty professional

RedLentil · 15/04/2010 13:21

Gordon and Sarah Brown at mil's school this morning. Will need to collect gossip ...Not sure that a woman of her nervous disposition will have coped.

cyteen · 15/04/2010 13:40

Jack Straw was in the town centre yesterday, apparently defending the decision to invade Afghanistan and Iraq. There were quite a lot of interested-looking Muslims gathered round I didn't stop to listen.

I do find elections hard, feeling absolutely compelled to use my hard-won vote whilst being unable to believe that politicians do anything other than waffle and bleat and lie for their own self-interest.

Moving on to more interesting things, would anyone care to help me out with a wedding accessory Q? I'm thinking headgear to go with my dress...I like Katy Perry's wedding look in her Hot N Cold video so am contemplating a birdcage veil and comb arrangement. But there are so many nice things out there...

GladioliBuckets · 15/04/2010 13:45

Just spat my coffee out at the Hugo Dixie link, how ironic the name too.

DD is fine but has been having probs weeing lately and perhaps some of the tummy aches I'd been so sceptical about weren't just hysterical after all. After little success attempting a medicine 'cocktail', she is now resigned that swallowing it quick is the better way to go.

Have followed their lead today so we just walked down to our riverside park and had our picnic in the playground, instead of my grander plans. Then on the way back they decided we should get out the 2man tent and bubble machine and have a party in the garden. So that's what they're all doing. Feel a bit rotten as I'll have to bring in Kurt for a nap soon.

TS Breathing is the way forward for you I reckon, you're the kind of lady that appreciates the science of oxygen suppressing adrenalin. Could you have a little 5minute session in the mornings?

alittlebitshy · 15/04/2010 13:48

thanks all, i think the lumpiness has dispersed . sorry, i do have a tendency to over react.

miamla cannot believe the cheek of your dh's company? you sure were polite - i would have yelled "he is on his honeymoon" at them and cut off the call. then again i do get myself into trouble for being moody .

dizzy my dd has a playdate (here) at 2 and isn't back yet . at park with a friend (and friend's dad - starting to panic about timing now...)

alittlebitshy · 15/04/2010 14:57

and my dd's playdate has been called off . the other mother had been texting the number i stopped using a year ago (we have exchanged texts on my new(ish) phone too . luckily i have managed to "recall" the friend she was in the park with. phew

loving this sunshine. have my first load of washing this year on the line. have stripped, washed, dried and remade our bed (superking so all that work MUST count as an excerSazz ). met a friend for coffee this morn then we went to the park. mopped 3 floors (need to do kitchen later. hoovered upstairs and down.

feeling a bit more in control than the usual holiday madness. just need to make a lasagne for tonight, but i suspect that will be trickier as ds will be up form his nap soon and may not be entirely included in the big girls' games.

sorry - a bit of a mega me me me post.

springaporesling · 15/04/2010 15:01

Albs overreacting completely permitted with things like that.

Buckets hope DD on the mend is truly horrible thing to suffer.

I forgot to mention we did end up wearing flowers in our hair but they were very tasteful and looked quite good. Will post some photos of the wedding on FB when get a chance.

Dizzy is this some kind of meteorologists dream? So glad we weren't traveling today.

DS was up between 1.30 and 5am this morning - great fun - DH was working so guess who was on the early shift. I am shattered. He was demanding wheels on the bus etc on you tube (courtesy of his uncle whilst we were in England) so couldn't even get on here.

Had to pick up keys to new place at 10 so no lie in when he did decide to go to sleep. Removal men coming at 9am tomorrow so hopefully no repeat of last night.

LOL Steaky Miamla I reckon it's DS2

Dizzy as you've chosen everyone else's names are you permitted to let us know some of yours or is it still to early and tempting fate?

dizzydixies · 15/04/2010 15:03

Am sitting in tesco car park having a quiet child free moment, amazing what little things count as bliss these days!

Miamla · 15/04/2010 15:12

posting quickly, need to pop out and get some milk...

votes so far (so i can keep track!)

one for pink (sazz) and one for blue (springer)

keep em coming!

albs v pleased lumpy bits have dispersed

GreenGardenia · 15/04/2010 15:18

I am voting blue for you Miamla!

Isn't it cranberry juice that's good for uti's? A rather dry drink for a child but you never know. I feel your guilt Buckets I'm like that, never believe any sickness and get all bustly and let's-get-on-with-things-now-no-nonsense like some sort of demented scout leader, then it turns out they have smallpox or something and I feel like a heel.

cyteen · 15/04/2010 15:25

Quick opinions?

love this

like this

or I could order some emerald green netting and make my own [disaster emoticon].

alittlebitshy · 15/04/2010 15:27

hmm blue vs pink. i just can't make a decision. hmm... i say blue!

springaporesling · 15/04/2010 15:29

Cyteen both are lovely - sorry for being indecisive!

GG yes cranberry juice supposed to be good for UTIs along with lots of liquids. I suffered terribly in my student days and got kidney infections too.

springaporesling · 15/04/2010 15:31

DS appears randomly to have stopped sucking his thumb. I didn't really even notice it happening. Am strangely a little as it was a great comfort to him. He does have more teeth coming so maybe just temporary?

GladioliBuckets · 15/04/2010 15:32

Thought your dress was white?
I prefer the tulle but the pics are useless, you can't see the fiddly bit on it. I mean it could just have a lacky band holding it together or a knitted pompom or a bulldog clip.

GreenGardenia · 15/04/2010 15:37

I prefer the tulle one acksherly.

GreenGardenia · 15/04/2010 15:40

Don't get this one

Not sure why it makes such a difference that it goes across instead of down the face but it DOES!

GreenGardenia · 15/04/2010 15:42

Oh springer I'd be sad about that too, ds loves his thumb so much. Maybe he's got a sharp bit on one of his teeth, they are like little razors sometimes, and it will gradually wear down?

cyteen · 15/04/2010 15:43

But she looks like she's having such a great time wearing it!

Interesting re. tulle; I initially prefer the hydrangea one but might just be dazzled by her fabulously curly hair The tulle one doesn't come with adornment so you can buy and wear a fascinator/comb/etc. separately, according to the maker.

oopsandbabycoconut · 15/04/2010 15:45

Cyteen I am liking the tulle one

Miamla - I think pea is really a puppy and 12+23 = 35

Buckets - hope DD better soon, just lots of liquids to flush it out.

I We have decided that if at tomorrow's scan DD2 is still breach I am going to ask them to book me a c-section date that way I can get my head around it and if she turns by 38 weeks we can cancel and go naturally. I just don't want to get to 38weeks and them say she is still breech come in tomorrow with no planning time and needing to organise care for DD at such short notice. Am I being silly?

Singa - good luck with the move tomorrow, hope Ds sleeps so you can dela with it all with a clear head.

GreenGardenia · 15/04/2010 15:49

She's enjoying herself a bit too much actually, looks fake.

oopsandbabycoconut · 15/04/2010 15:53

GG - it's a bit like Silence of the Lambs does weddings

GladioliBuckets · 15/04/2010 15:56

Ah so it is a lacky band then and you have to pay extra for something to cover it up. The tulle is more Grace Kelly imo.

Oops I had my date from 21wks with DS2, was v reassuring.

Miamla · 15/04/2010 16:27

GG when i first clicked your link thought you'd said that you liked it! its very 'kylie's vid with the red plastic bits over their faces'.

oops took me a little while there to work out why you were adding 12+23 until i did a bit more maths, added 12+21 and got 33 actually... that doesn't work... my mind has gone to mush...what do i actually need to add... 21+14? ah ha, yup that's 35 i got there in the end!
deary me and to think i did a maths degree!!!
and no, i don't think you're being silly (or whatever your actual question was!) re cs.. i'd be same as you and wanting to plan things. Our current plan is for home birth but this involves DH driving DS over to my mum's when I say 'go'. This could potentially mean i'm on my own in the midst of labour for up to 45mins (or more if Pea arrives during rush hour!).I know the answer is send him over sooner rather than later but it all kind of crept up on me the first time and i've heard seconds are quicker

cyteen i like the tulle one. give me a shout if you want me to have a go in making anything for you. DH enjoyed his days with DS on his own so much (when i was making my dress) that he wants to continue with them so i'll have plenty of creativity time when he does!

springer not such a bad thing if he has stopped, its not an easy habit to break esp if he gets to over 30

so votes so far (not that any of you are ever going to trust my maths skills again!)

one for pink (sazz), three for blue (springer, albs,VG) and one for a puppy (oops)

alittlebitshy · 15/04/2010 17:05

cyteen i like the tulle one too,
