Beans - did he actually say sorry beans? or your real name
Glad it worked out. He shouldn't discount it until it's seen in the flesh. I've looked at so many that seem completely different in photo's - (usually worse in the flesh unfortunately since they know how to glam up the piccy's)
Beans aren't you further than 7 months? I thought I was 6 and you were about 8?

Sorry dd missed you Aubi but it's also a good feeling in a round-about-kind of way - no?

Veggiemummy · 15/04/2010 10:21

Hi Beans.

Rubs do you have coffee yet? I forgot to reply to your question about losing weight in the 3rd trimester. For both boys I had terrible indigestion and vomiting in the last three months. It wasn't like what Urbane had not that bad. But I would usual vomit about every 2 days usually if I had too much protein! Bizarre I know but always without fail if I had a very high protein meal I would wake at 1 am bringing it all back up. Also in the last month I just could not handle much carbs either, I tended to try to eat a very small bowl of porridge for breakfast and a sandwich at lunch to try to get carbs in but that was all I could handle, dinner was usually just veggies. It was really hard because it made me so tired. But both boys came out over 8lb so didn't hurt them.

Rubena · 15/04/2010 10:27

Oh now I vaguely remember the vomming you had Veggie!
Yes I didn't actually run out of coffee (instant as haven't had proper coffee since getting pregnant) but it's just dangerously low levels.
I have nipped the milk running out problem in the bud. it costs more but I just LOVE the milkman!! Milk at our door 3 days a week without thinking about it!!! And they also have coffee and essentials if you run out of those

Rubena · 15/04/2010 10:29

forgot u are not here but surely equivalent over there?

Veggiemummy · 15/04/2010 10:32

Beans you shouldn't feel bad at yourself for not asking for a seat. There is only one thing worse than not offering a seat and that's sneaking into a seat a preggers women you'd get. I once had a man on a tube race me for the last seat. I was 7 months pregnant at it was summer so it was very obvious. Luckily there was a metro just behind his head on the window but so I lent right over him with my big belly right in his face to get to it then 'accidently' stepped on his foot and kept my foot his so the inertia of the train meant I kept crushing his foot. Amazingly he didn't move it. Then as if by divine intervention a seat came up exactly opposite him, so I got to stair at him regulary over my 2nd hand metro. He stair down at his book very intently and was red for most of the journey. I think that was all worth not getting the seat really. I do find it bizarre though that people who sit at desks all day seem so desperate to get a seat for a few stops on the tube! My job didn't entail sitting all day but a lot more than other nurses so I didn't mind standing at all when not preggers.

Veggiemummy · 15/04/2010 10:38

Rubs that's amazing coffee to your door with the milkman! He should really go into chocolate as well. No unfortunately we don't get a milk delivery here, I've never seen one so I don't think they have them. I tried getting one in Derby, we gave the dude our order but he never delivered so didn't bother. I do think they need open shop fronts here so I can cycle up buy my bread & milk and cycle off without having to take DS2 off the bike. I can only do it if I've got DS1 with me so I can send him in to the more open corner shops.

Rubena · 15/04/2010 10:39

Bored today. DB gate has rasied it's head again - oh strewth I don't want this drama over here surrounding another pregnancy
I'm thinking of taking ds out on the bike today. But then I'd feel guilty about the dog. I'd have to have her on a lead while I ride. Is that safe? Thoughts? She's normal unless another dog passes then it all could go tits skyward

Beans33 · 15/04/2010 10:56

What is DB gate? Am I being gormless?
Rubes - I think we're only a couple of weeks apart - I'm 30 weeks tomorrow... Due 25th June. DH didn't actually call me Beans (although my family and old family friends do!), he called me Burger, which is his petname for me. Romantic - NAT!

Veggie - I love your story about treading on the man. Hilarious. Honestly, it's only ever women who give up their seats anyway - even in Paris on the bus, a girl gave up her seat for me, not a bloke. It's amazing! chivalry is dead. Although I did read in Metro once a letter from a bloke saying that he'd rather see a pregnant woman than a fat girl cry - and I guess that's what they worry about when they offer their seat to you - that you might just be a bit chubby! So I can kind of understand! BUT I am clearly preggers now, not just a bit fat-looking. ho hum.

Poor you with the vomming. I've had such an easy time of it this time around. And in fact last time too. Lucky me. I'm so sure I'm having a boy. I don't know why - it's kicking me to bits and it's quite a tidy bump...

OP posts:
Rubena · 15/04/2010 11:06

oh right - DB - is brother-gate. Oh I won't bore you with it if you missed the saga. it's just kicked off again hopefully in a smaller way. I have a fondness for you beans as your name is pet name for ds due to my accent apparently. Burger - nice! I get called the man's name on Kath and Kim if anyone can decipher that one!

Beans33 · 15/04/2010 11:17

I didn't miss it - sorry, just didn't get the initial thing - oh no - is his girlfriend texting you again? poor you.

Beanie has been my nickname since I can remember - was even down on school register at my primary school as that. Only when I went to secondary school that anyone called me my real name. I didn't even answer to it for years!

OP posts:
Beans33 · 15/04/2010 11:17

PS How many weeks are you, Rubes?

OP posts:
Rubena · 15/04/2010 11:32

No - she's not texting - he has just said a couple more bits of the puzzle and has said she is going to visit her family for a couple of weeks- it's getting old now and the BB messenger messages can be so cryptic. He swears he wants me to call when he is alone and not in the middle of the conv's with her so we'll see. I just want him to be his old self, but I have advised him to advise her to look into some confirmed air tickets for the trip to her db's wedding as it's so off and on that I fear she'll be up for a last minute hefty fare last minute. It's too unstable. Hope that wasn't mean. I'm also fearing having amilk production haltage like the last time due to stress - i'm no dairy at the best of times, but a bit of stress, and my milk flow just seizes and the dairy is closed for business - not fun last time.

Oh and Beans I'm 24 weeks - is that 6 months yet?

Rubena · 15/04/2010 11:39

Veggie I missed your earlier post - wish there was an open corner store here too - I'd then take the dog or cycle as well. Yes the milkman only delivers instant nescafe type stuff - but beggars can't be choosers so I'm happy. It's always here before dawn on the doorstep - love it, and I can change the order up until 9pm at night - ahh the little things i'm so impressed my these days I heart milk and more

Beans33 · 15/04/2010 11:48

Oh Rubes - I'm so sorry - what a pain. Do you think there's any way for you to stay out of it this time? Horrid for you to be so affected by it - and the baby by default.

I'm not sure if it's 6 months. To be honest, I go by due date - so am now 6.5 months pregnant as it's about 2.5 months til my due date...

Beans33 · 15/04/2010 11:54

oooh, and I'm off to midwife this afternoon, which will be fun - always like to hear the little heartbeat pummelling away. Yay! DD with nanny, so am then going to head to the shops and get loads of useful things done. Then we're off to see DH's new niece this evening, so nanny babysitting til late on. Hurray! I've got to go and buy her a little outfit from Debenhams - looking forward to it already!

OP posts:
Beans33 · 15/04/2010 11:56

That's buy the niece a little outfit, not the nanny!

Morning all! Re meet up 3rd May works for me! Let's cross our fingers for sunshine.

Beans33 · 15/04/2010 12:07

Oh whoops! Have just realised that 3rd May is bank holiday Monday, so think we'll be away - what a total nit I am - sorry!

Can we do 10th instead? Sorry sorry!

JamInMyWellies · 15/04/2010 12:19

Hi everyone,

Rubes bloody nora not again. Any chance you can be really blunt and just tell him you cannot have this sort of stress while you are preggers?

Veggie that is funny, it used to drive me insane that noone would offer me a seet on the tube I just used to seathe inwardly whereas DH would tell someone to stand up for me

I realised yesterday while shmoks was in full on tantrum mode that he is nearly the same age as DS1 was when he was born. Where has the time gone.

Aubs I love love what your DD1 said to the nanny this morning super cute. I am sorry you felt so upset about DD2 give her an extra squish tonight. Totally agree with you about Ireland being expensive. Used to drive me bonkers when out for dinner etc.

DS2 is driving me round the bend with the tantrumming he woke screaming at 6 this morning for his milk. He then went mental when he saw it wasnt in a bottle (after watching panorama the other night bedtime and morning bottles have been replaced with a beaker)he screamed for an hour! Poor DS1 was trying to have his morning mummy snuggle and he was getting mightly hacked off kept saying shmoks please no screaming pleeaaaaase.

Anyway waffling rubbish best crack on and do a bit of housework friends over later for a playdate.

Rubena · 15/04/2010 12:20

yeah Beans I'm going to stay out of it as much as possible. Just brother is / was spose to be going to her db wedding over here (Spain) and they were both planning on visiting us here before and after the wedding and baby (wedding is right when baby born) and I'm worried there will be a big fight or something when they are here! He knows better though I think after milkrpoductionstop-gate last time and i'm sure he'll avoid any drama this time

I'm fine for the 10th I think Kiwi!

Rubena · 15/04/2010 12:55

Hello jam x posted. Yes actually I think I'm making him sound much worse than he is - he was actually quite upset when he realised it had caused me stress last time - just our parents are useless with support and so it's really only me he's had to talk to with all of this right from the beginning years ago. Anyway, i'm not going to get stressed about it.
I just get bored when I'm a t home in crap weather days on end and he messages with so much drama - hard not to get caught up in it - more meetups needed!!!!! Got a full week next week so happy about that!

KiwiPanda · 15/04/2010 13:04

Yup 10th good for me too!

Beans33 · 15/04/2010 13:21

10th is in my diary - don't mind if morning or pm - any preference for everyone?

OP posts:
Rubena · 15/04/2010 14:31

Oops I meant 10th fine for me too Beans - I don't mind what time- easier I guess if he's had a little nap so perhaps late morning or lunch - are we lunching anyway? I don't know much about this place!

JollyBear · 15/04/2010 14:45

Hello everyone,

Aub I loved your DD's comment to the nanny. She has got a good grip on Irish/English relations.

beans I did theology at university and it was a really interesting subject. I was thinking the other day that courses like that are going to close down when people can't afford to study for pleasure any more. Universities are all about job prospects these days it seems.

How awful for no one to give up their seat. I was always too whimpish to ask too.

rubes Sorry things are kicking off again with DB.

I have also brushed DD's teeth more diligently than usual. Panorama was just hideous.

Jam Have you tried a soft spout like a nuby cup to help the transition? They might be as bad as a bottle though I don't know. Anyone know?
