Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
EssieAmma · 07/05/2010 07:58

I'm really pissed off about that, I can tell you.

EssieAmma · 07/05/2010 07:59

But Spider that's pregnancy, right - a 9 month hangover with no party?

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 07/05/2010 08:54

Morning all, I stayed up till 3.30am then S had us up about 6am. Am absolutely delighted by the result in Scotland AFAIK Labour didn't lose a single seat, gained two seats and increased it's share of the vote overall. I live in a really marginal seat and was overjoyed to wake up and find it still labour. Pleased too that Labour held onto Abdn South which is always a bit of a fight.

All very interesting elsewhere - plan to spend the morning in my pj's immersed in it all.

abdnhiker · 07/05/2010 09:23

DGT I wrote a letter to Anne Begg in Aberdeen South asking why childcare vouchers hadn't increased with inflation when she was my MP and she didn't read it and just sent a letter about tax credits. I was really disappointed and I think that's when my disillusionment with Labour started. She used to live across the road from me too.

Poll results in the rest (non central belt/urban) of Scotland- I'm glad to see I'm not out of kilter completely with the neighbours.

Moving on (I'm tempted to ignore facebook for the next two days until all the politics is gone) I've posted a new quilt pic (see facebook/blog) as it's reached it's new home now.

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 07/05/2010 09:49

Sorry to hear that Abdn.

I've just been looking at your latest quilt on your blog - it's amazing! I love that it's quite bright and trendy looking. I wish I could make something like that for S.

DebInAustria · 07/05/2010 09:53

Well I'm pleased with the result as it means that the Euro might stabilise, this last week every time it changed 1 cent it was costing us about £2500 (presuming we sell and will be transferring Euros to pounds)We are supposed to hear by today!

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 07/05/2010 10:03

Ooh, fingers crossed for you Debs. Good news on the Euro for you. Am a bit cross with myself that I didn't change our holiday money (for accom and spends) before yesterday... Doh.

Away from the election can someone send me energy vibes. My house is a disaster and I really need to finish my hall...

abdnhiker · 07/05/2010 10:57

fingers crossed for Deb!!!

neenz · 07/05/2010 11:56

Oh Deb hope the exchange rate does the right thing for you!

Formby is in mourning Rolf . I was so pleased to find Labour had held here, and with about a 5k majority I think? I think maybe Debi Jones was not an option for a lot of people even those who are right-leaning, everyone seems to hate her. Me and DH cancelled out each other's votes too - we had some very interesting discussions last night about Labour and GB and their ability to manage the economy properly. Even as we were trying to fall asleep we were still arguing discussing it! We stayed up till 1am but had to give in then as we'd had a late night the night before too cos I went to the football. Labour held all over Merseyside which just goes to show how deep the feeling is against Tories here. DH says at Anfield they sing 'Maggie Maggie Maggie die die die' . I don't like the woman but there is no need for that!

Spider, yep hangover feeling I know it well. It ended about 14wks for me. Hopefully you'll feel better soon.

Abdn that's really crap of your MP not even reading your letter.

Biscuits, thanks for that info. I knew of course that taking her off her medication was for good reason cos the docs know what they are doing, it just seems so obvious, you know? Take her off her medication and she dies... go figure. I know it wasn't as simple as that though.

I feel sorry for the LDs. I considered voting for them but there was no point here as it is a wasted vote. I am sure many others felt the same, and in LD/Con seats those wanting Labour out would switch to Cons cos LDs could not win overall. I think they have done pretty well to hold on to so many seats because in those constituencies the voters would have known they were key to whether the Tories got a majority or not. So those wanting Labour out had good reason to vote Tory even if they were more naturally LD. IYSWIM!!

EddieIzzardismyhero · 07/05/2010 13:48

Right, I want an honest answer guys - which one of you sneaked into my house on Tuesday and had a word with my gorgeous toddler about his sleeping?

He slept through for the THIRD night in a row last night!!

AH, your quilt is gorgeous - would you be interested in making one for M if I provided you with material/money/ideas? Let me know cos I'd happily pay you to make me one .

Deb, keeping everything crossed for you .

abdnhiker · 07/05/2010 15:17

eddie thanks for the compliment . I would be interested in making one for M - especially if you picked fabric etc - sort of playmat sized or cotbed? I've realized I need to make one for Fraser soon when he moves to a bed and gets a proper pillow etc.

DebInAustria · 07/05/2010 15:49

Abdn - I love your quilts too

Thanks for all the good luck messages, still not heard anything from either agent so I'm beginning to think that they're just messing us about and we're not going to get an offer now. So, I'm feeling fed up and sorry for myself.I'm cooking to make myself feel better which is bad news for my waistline but great for the rest of the family.

Eddie - fantastic news about the sleeping boy!!

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 07/05/2010 17:30

Does anyone else hate rawplugs? Have spent most of the afternoon putting together a fairly small shoe cabinet which must be fixed to the wall. DH and I have had no luck with the rawplugs. Am now trying to source a handyman from the internet to come and do it for me. Grrrr.

As you were...

Sorry you've not had any news yet Deb!

DebInAustria · 07/05/2010 20:00

Goddess - don't know much about rawplugs but I do know there are different types according to what sort of wall it is - brick, plasterboard etc...Are you using the right sort?

SpiderWilliam · 07/05/2010 20:44

Yes - a 9 month hangover is about right, but hopefully it wont last for the duration and there are only a few weeks left. I think I am about to go to bed before 9 o'clock. I think only sleep will shift my headache.

My Ina May Gaskill childbirth book (as recommended by Neenz) arrived this morning. I like the birth story where one woman who had given birth two weeks earlier, strips off down to her pants and lies on the bed with a woman who is struggling with a long labour: "head to head, breast to beast and belly to belly" . Not quite what I have in mind . Aside from being glib, I actually think that it has alot of sense to offer. So thank-you Neenz for the recommendation.

Deb thinking of you, sorry if you are feeling like you wont be getting an offer. You may still get one. Perhaps the turmoil with the election and the knock on effect on the markets is making them pause?

DGT we always have rawl plug issues too, but that is because our house is old and the plaster under the wallpaper is knackered so when you drill into it, it crumbles away.

Eddie excellent news on the sleep. Did you threaten him with our collective ire?

P just woken up. Better sort him out and go to bed myself.

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 07/05/2010 20:58

Yeah, we were definitely using the right rawplugs. For some reason we ALWAYS have issues though. I think the walls are just a bit crap. Am hoping a handyman will have the knack of being to sort it out for me.

EddieIzzardismyhero · 07/05/2010 21:01

The book sounds, erm, interesting spider! Hope it eases your anxiety though x

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 07/05/2010 21:02

Oops, posted too quick. Any news Deb?

Great news on the sleep Eddie - can I swap A for S?

He's not been much better at sleeping through. He just really wants to come into our bed. Had a mahoosive tantrum tonight - didn't want to go into his cot, wanted to go into his bed. Am I mad to consider that maybe we should think about turning his cotbed into a bed?

We did do a bit of CC last night which took about an hour. We were up anyway . So will see how he goes tonight.

Hope you have another good night Eddie!

abdnhiker · 07/05/2010 21:03

Is it just really old plasterboard? that can be very difficult.

Deb sending hugs and fingers crossed.

We've just got the boys to bed now but i'm hoping that will help sort Fraser out. he's been a nightmare lately - crying and fussing - and normally he's not too bad. He's asleep now though...

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 07/05/2010 21:14

No, the house is pretty new. We're just a bit jinxed when it comes to raw plugs!

Hope you Fraser has a good night Abdn.

abdnhiker · 07/05/2010 21:27

x-posted DGT - sounds like our boys are on the same development stage...

EddieIzzardismyhero · 07/05/2010 21:29

Is it dry lined DG? Our walls are crap - house is 25 years old and dry lined, new house is fifty years old and has proper walls, yay!

Sorry to hear about S - no idea on whether a bed would be better .

AH, I'd like the biggest option - what would that be?! I'd quite like it to be able to be big enough to go on a junior bed if that wouldn't be too big? M's nickname in our family is Bubble (that's what A calls him cos he can't pronounce his name ), so I was thinking about bubble/water theme. How much material would I need?

Off to see Priscilla tomorrow - very excited!

DebInAustria · 07/05/2010 22:13

cheered up here as it's Mother's day on Sunday here but we're celebrating tomorrow as Tristan is singing in church on Sunday. So we're off to Salzburg on the train for a Chinese lunch and either park or museum depending on the weather and maybe a few shops!!

DebInAustria · 07/05/2010 22:15

sorry Goddess - didn't reply, no news from them so it will be at least Monday now!

DebInAustria · 07/05/2010 22:16

Spider - why would it he helpful to have a semi naked post pregnant woman next to you when you're giving birth?????
