HT also googled it, how scary!

scout we used to do the egg & rolling down the hill when we were kids, but that all seems to have been lost now. I do give the wee ones a choc egg, but mostly its clothes. Cuddly toy for Faith this year, and egg etc for DS

Lix hi!!

I was giving Faith solids once a day, but after taking her to the HV, I got told off for not having her on them 3 times a day. She told me that Faith is 22 weeks & a big girl, and the milk isnt enough! I thought i was going to get told off for having her on solids aready, oh well.

She is waking up at night crying in pain with her teething, poor wee thing.

We are going back to NI in 2 weeks for a wee holiday. While there, we are house viewing (so excited!!) and also taking DS to his old school, were they have taken on 1-1 teaching for special needs children. Cant wait untill July when I bring the kids back for good, will miss DH but its worth it when my son will have a better life.

Oh...my period arrived 2 weeks late! Ive never been so nervous! Thats a lesson learnt the hard way lol...so untill i get my coil fitted, i will keep a wooden spoon under my pillow, if my DH comes anywere near me....bang

Igglybuff · 12/03/2010 08:37

littlepea I was wondering!

Friends of ours are expecting their second (first is a year old). It got me thinking about when to have the next one (it's gone from "when" to "if" back to "when"!)
I've got four siblings with age gaps ranging from 18 months to 14 years! I think 18 months is a good gap although not sure....

HappyTangerine · 12/03/2010 09:26

Re Bornholm virus-yes, I was a bi scared when I googled it as well but it's much better now. Worryingly I think I picked it up from a baby group last week where we were all poured drinks-either that or someone sneezed over me.

How are you all getting along with weaning? We had a helluva night with Joseph waking (teething pain) and feeding then he wouldn't settle. He wouldn't even let me sit down and lie him down, exhausting. So I decided to give him some baby rice this morning- I have the one from the Plum Organics range. Is it me or does it look like quite a lot when it's made up? Anyway, he wolfed it down. Then I started reading Annabel Karmel who suggested one or two teaspoons initially. Ooops. He had way more than that-I wasn't going to waste 50ml of good breastmilk! Joseph is 23 weeks on Monday, am not sure how long to carry on with the rice before adding something else-any suggestions?

LittlePea-happy house hunting! Poor Faith. The best thing I found for teething pain is something suggested at baby massage-one of those child toothbrushes with the v long handles. Joseph just bites down on it-added bonus that he gets used to the brush being on his gums. Relieved for you re period!

Iggly Is William on the mend now? Hope so. LOts of colds/viruses about at the moment, think its the mad weather/temperature changes.

Seb One Born every Minute has made me incredibly broody. DH just looks a bit puzzled when he watches it, because I was so quiet in labour. He's now telling all his mates with pg wives how fantastic hypno-birthing is...he was the world's biggest sceptic before I did it

theboob Lovely to see you again, sorry abou the bad reaction to the solids though sounds very scary. Hope all is well now.

twinkle Annoying neighbours-why coulsn't they have just asked you. Fingers crossed that this is the last grumble they have. Aside from that, it must be so exciting to watch your drema house suddently start to happen!

fidelma Belated happy birthday to your DD! My hair is also falling out and DH is going bald (touchy subject). Its worse than when we had the dog . I remember you're also using the Plum Organics rice aren't you? How much banana/veg do you mix in with the baby rice?

HC How are the solids going?

Btw, has anyone heard from Ruby?

Sorry to anyone I missed, am still v groggy but hey, at least I no longer feel like I'm being stabbed in the chest (virus). Joseph has fallen asleep straight after his baby rice so I'm going back to bed for a bit, lovely DH has just done me a hot water bottle. Love to everyone, have a good weekend

princessmel · 12/03/2010 10:17

Hi everyone

I feel like I've had a cold for weeks. Grrgh!

easter We used to be given choc eggs and were told the Bunny brought them. Since I've had dc's my mum does a hunt in her back garden. She hides little choc eggs and the dc's look for them with lttle buckets. Not specific ones, any that they can find! We also have a roast lunch round at mums over the easter weekend.

mothers day Is spoilt a bit this year as dd has been invited to a party at 3.45 - 5.30. Rubbish date and time imo. I dont want to not take her as she would be upset. Mum is doing a lunch at her house which we'll go to, and my sister and brother will be there etc and then I'll have to take dd to the party after that.

I went to get F weighed yesterday and get his last lot of late jabs, but the clinic was shut! Staff training. Very annoying. Everyone thinks he has grown so much, I really want to know how much he's put on. (if any!!)

Still no solids here. He is very happy on his milky
littlepea I am shocked that the hv told you off for not having Faith on 3 meals a day. It is nothing to do with her how many meals you feed her!! Grrgh that makes me so mad on your behalf! Plus she should know that F should be getting most of her calories from milk until she's 1 anyway. You do what you think is right, and if it's only 1 meal then leave it at that for the time being.

My friend is lending me a door bouncer later so I'm looking forward to trying F in it! I'll take pics

one born* every minute I have loved watching this. I love anything to do with birth/babies. I feel s much empathy for all the mums though! I'm watching it saying to dh 'omg it's so painful, poor them etc etc'!!

hair loss Yes still coming out here too. I am getting it cut on monday. It's really annoying me at the moment. The bit at the back that rubs up against hoods on coats and
scarfs always seems to be knotty. Roll on warmer weather! Talking of which, we are getting F's pasport doen at the moment. He looks very lovely in his passport picture It was easy to get aswell. The photo place had a big bean bag covered in grey material and he lay down on it and looked up at the camera!

I hope all of you with colds viruses and bugs are feeling better. F is still wheezy and chesty. I think this is the way he's going to be from now on

Have a nice day everyone.

fidelma · 12/03/2010 11:09

Morning all

I am finding 4 children and a husband tough at the moment.

Igglybuff we have had a 2, 3 and 4 year age gaps.I enjoyed the 3 year gap the most.

ht i am rubbish at expressing milk so i just mix the rice with fruit.i hope that you are feeling better.x

littlepea i am really pleased that you are getting to move back home.one of my best friends husbands is in the army and they are in the prosses of buying a home near to her family so that all of the 4 children can have a stable upbringing.she does not want the children to go to boarding school,in her opinion that is not a perk.

connor has a terrible cold which is hard work.we have friends comming tonight with their twins.they are good friends so f and c it is !!!(fish and chips)

rubyslippers · 12/03/2010 13:26

hello - sorry not been posting much

weaning - Still not weaned. Ruby is coming up for 23 weeks so we will start the week after next

hairloss - yup! I cannot believe how much is still coming out. My hair is fine to begin with and it really looks awful

easter - i don't celebrate but i do love a creme egg (or three)

one born every minute - I watch this! i enjoy it and get all teary. I actually went to give my MW a gift today (well the one who delivered Rubes) and i burst into tears! I was so happy to see her and so grateful for her helping me to have an amazing birth.

We are off to my parents for a week so i have loads of packing and sorting to do

i have got a rotten headache - think it is the chronic lack of sleep ...

will try and keep in touch more x

HumphreysCorner · 12/03/2010 17:02

Hi all

Matthew is doing quite well with his one meal a day at lunchtime, am wondering when to introduce another and should it be at breakfast or tea. Just mixing some powder meals with water to start with but have bought a few jars to try. He prefers sweet food and wasn't keen on Fromage Frais as it was too cold. It has made no difference to his sleep but he poos more. Can't remember if I said he gained 7oz this week so now 14lb 11oz at 22 weeks. He had just had some food so no wonder he gained.

We don't have any Easter Traditions but neither DH or me did as children so that is probably why.

HT-how nasty, hope you are back on top form soon.

Big wave, must go and peel some potatos.

Just a quick post
ruby I wanted to do that but never got round to it. (the mw I saw at my appts, not the one who delivered him) I sent cards and a photo to the delivery suite and childrens ward (from when he was ill) saying thanks though.

I got him weighed today and he is 15lb 12 half oz at 20 weeks Just under the 50th line. He was nearer the 25th.
She said thats good as often after they've been ill and dropped down a line, they usually tend to stay on that new line.

The HV are annoying me at the moment though basically saying I dont need to get him weighed. One said it's not needed to be done again till he's 8 months!!! Unless he's ill etc. BUT I like getting him weighed, for my own piece of mind really and because I'm interested. I haven't been for 3 weeks and he'd put a lb on in that time. I don't think I go too much anyway.

I got a sign for the house in town today saying 'Pardon the mess, the maid is not in today'!! It's hanging in my hall. Mum was with me and she said as soon as she saw it she thought of me.

princessmel · 12/03/2010 20:14

sorry missed out...
sorry you're feeling sad fidelma. You are a very busy lady, always having dinner parties , rushing around with the dc's (like me)etc. Make sure you rest and try and do things just for you, even just a nice bath. I try and do this a few times a week, only time i get to read my book!! xx

Littlepea, yay about the move!!!!

fidelma · 13/03/2010 07:20

Quiet life now needed in the fidelma house me thinks.

Connor hasn't had much to eat in the last few days as he has a very bad cough.I have no idea what he weighs but he is a big bouncey baby.He hasn't been weighed since 6 weeksHe also does not really like sitting or lying again I think due to the cold.He is very heavy to carry around and it also stops me being able to interact as well with the other DC he needs picked up.see you x

devilsadvocaat · 13/03/2010 07:25

charlie slept 7.30-5 when i had to wake him up to feed him. how the tables have turned! dh put him to bed last night with a bottle of formula. mixed feelings really. was nice to read ds1 his story and sing bedtime songs with him, have missed that whilst putting charlie to bed. on the other hand, it was the first time ever that i didn't put charlie to bed i am so proud of doing 24 weeks ebf, now i find it strange that he takes milk from somewhere else. but i also feel happy that i have a bit more freedom too

HC - so far charlie has dinner (apple and rice) and breakfast (baby cereal). i will start with lunch next week sometime. he also has a breakfast bottle and a bedtime bottle. i will add a lunchtime bottle soon. it seems to have happened quite fast but so far so good.

fidelma - it must be so hard with 4 dc. maybe take a step back from the marathon cooking sessions?! like PM's suggestion

HT - hope you're all feeling better in the tangerine household.

we'll be moving charlie into his bedroom after this weekend too

where did the last 6 months go?

devilsadvocaat · 13/03/2010 07:26

oh forgot to say, i am still bf on demand until charlie is established on food and milk.

HumphreysCorner · 13/03/2010 15:31

Hi all

devils-Matthew had breakfast for the first time today and then lunch but I feel that he needs tea as well. I am just BF on demand too and as a comfort to help him settle sometimes. Charlie will be fine in his room, M has settled very well in his.

fidelma-hope you get some more 'me' time as you do so much for others.

Matthew rolled today but I never saw it but better write today in his book.

Have had to give in and hire a gardener to cut my grass. Got home earlier and he has been and it looks fab. Although he didn't move the trampoline to do under it and he didn't mow next to the greenhouse. Daren't say anything as he looks like one of the men off Rogue Traders.

Better press on as having everyone round tomorrow for Mothers Day and need to make a cake, peel veg, clean, lay the table..............

Big wave to all!

OP posts:
Igglybuff · 14/03/2010 19:08

Happy Mothers' Day!

I didn't get a lie in... We did manage to enjoy sunshine by going for a walk and lunch in a park which was lovely.

ruby sorry to hear no lie in How is the sleep nanny thing going?

William's reflux is getting worse again - he was grimacing and his eyes were watering as stuff was coming back out. I was quite upset about it - might explain why he isn't settling very well anymore. So off to the docs to get a higher dose of meds methinks.

Sorry this is a quick post - DH and I are on shifts to try and settle W!

BellaCullen · 14/03/2010 19:50

Happy Mothers Day to you all.Hope you all had a lovely day you`re all great mums and such a great support xxx

Sorry its just a quick one will try and catch up with thread now.x

devilsadvocaat · 14/03/2010 20:49

hi everyone - happy mums' day!

we went out last night in london. we all stayed at pil's house. was really nice. i didn't get a lie in today but i got housework done, dinner cooked, cards and gift vouchers for my garden although i didn't get anything until about 5 o'clock and honestly thought he'd forgotten me

hc - ta put charlie in his own room today. feeling happy and sad about it. he went down in his cot quite happily though so long may it last! i will start charlie on lunch this week.

feeling so tired after last night, early night for me.

fidelma · 14/03/2010 22:44

Happy Mothers Day you lovely yummy mummies no lie in either but DH took all of us out for lunch, my mum included

I was worried how we would manage with all 4 but it went very well.Connor fell asleep in his buggy (with my coat over it to block out everything)So we got to eat the main course and pudding in peace.

Connor has been high maintanance recently, bad cough and he won't play on his owne for very long at all also terrible nights. However today he has rewarded us with a tooth (and I suspect the second will be through tomorrow)He has now been asleep for 4 1/2 hours so he can do it !!!

I asked the girl who is doing my maternity cover if she would like to continue until the summer I would love to go back but it is just toooooo much of a juggle. So no teaching after school until September (maybe) It would work better if I taught an afternoon a week at the childrens school, so perhaps a change is needed.

I have made life easier this weekend lots of boiled eggs and beans on toast and of course lunch out today.

Thanks for all your support.

devilsadvocaat · 15/03/2010 12:34

charlie does not like carrot!

[messy emoticon]

fidelma · 15/03/2010 19:00

you are all very quiet !! What are you up to?I must have tooo much time on my hands

Dentist again my teeth are driving me mad but I am going to get them fixed

Having said that I may not go back to work to myself it looks like I might get a small teaching job for the Royal Ballet very close to my home, which would be tooooooo good to turn down. (typical)

Connor is sooo much better on solids, he doesn't have a huge amount but his whole digestive system is so much better. He just had milk for a few days last week and his reflux returned

Connor is in bed 3 more to go.they are watching tv at the moment.

devilsadvocaat · 15/03/2010 19:45

i'm here! dunno where everyone else is though!

boys in bed. charlie slept well in his room last night. he woke once from 7-7 for a feed. feeling vaguely human again. i woke about an hour before he did and had to express some milk down the sink so i could go back to sleep.

fidelma · 15/03/2010 20:06

Result devils

I got 5 1/2hours without Connor which is amazing for me.The best night that I have had is being up twice to feed. (that is very sad) Oh well there is always tonight.I sleep in his room which I don't think helps.

rubyslippers · 15/03/2010 20:08

i am away for a few days with no internet access in the day

Rubes looks like she might be starting to sit up - i think in a couple of weeks she may be able to

she is very strong

teething like mad as well

Scout19075 · 15/03/2010 20:09

I'm here, but off to make dinner for DH and I will be back to post after I eat (I'm starving ALWAYS hungry -- is anyone else or is it just me?).
