Very random question. For those of you who are not sure if you'll have another baby or not, what are you doing with all of the baby clothes and baby accessories (swings, baskets, etc) that your DC has outgrown? I am very torn and don't know what to do. I have kept special/important things like the first onsie (vest) and first babygro and the outfit Seb left the hospital in, but don't know what to do with the collection of vests, babygros, etc that we have.

twinklegreen · 22/04/2010 15:56

scout I am keeping everything for a few years just to make sure!! then i'll give away to friends/ebay good stuff/charity shop the rest

I've just started a fb group to show pictures of our new build, i'll have to add you as friends if you would like to see the pictures so far. I'm happy to add you, just let me know if you'd like to join

Igglybuff · 22/04/2010 16:34

twinkle yes please!

scout I had a really nice blueberry marble cake yesterday (homemade, not by me). YUM. Or an upside down peach cake....? Double yum!

clothes we are having another (she says, assuming it'll be fine) so keeping it all.

princess good news about the payrise and hurrah for F sitting up!

Scout19075 · 22/04/2010 19:14

twinkle Yes please to me too!

Iggly I've not heard of upsidedown peach cake -- what's it like?

clothes My dilemna is the likelihood we'll have another is slim and we don't have the space to store anything. But I'm afraid to get rid of anything on the slim chance we have one.

sleep We've had another (almost) 2.5 hour nap today AND he's in bed with no tears (some whimpering, but no big wailing session). Don't know if it's the calpol, he's just tired or if now that he's getting older he's settling down (people have told me he'd settle around 6 months). 'Tis not a routine, I know, but it's an emerging pattern I like! (His sleep today followed very closely with Tuesday.)

HumphreysCorner · 22/04/2010 19:53

Me too twinkle and I can bring back memories of our self build. How do I add you?

Scout-with DD1 I kept everything, with DD2 I kept some things. Have now sent lots of things to charity and am just keeping Matthews first things which will include his first walking shoes. Hope you get home OK.

Have had the playmate from hell and totally lost my temper with them. At this rate Emma will never get any friends wanting to play.

Matthew is now 16lb 15oz at 29 weeks. He is still waking twice a night. When I got him weighed I was roped into attending a BF course, a lady from La Leche is giving an introductory chat at a coffee morning tomorrow. Thing is, isn't M too old for one of these BF buddy courses?

Love to all

Have added you so can't wait to see the pics.

Igglybuff · 22/04/2010 20:35

Oooo HC what happened??

scout it's a sponge cake topped with peaches. Here's a recipe

I had it in a local coffee shop and it was so nice!!

I'm watching the leaders' debates. It's a bit depressing!

HappyTangerine · 22/04/2010 20:50

Today I have been out and bought lots of storage boxes and baskets. It has made a huge difference, I am realising how much I love a simple uncluttered room. Dining room is to be tackled next. The new uncluttered me is also wondering what to do with a squillion books which I've either read once or been give through work

twinkle another yes from me please, all sounds v exciting.

Scout - I was thinking about you lat night as well, glad yours was ok. I want more bambinos so am keeping everything baby related in th hope that dh will one day get over the trauma of all the sleepless nights caused by this one

HC Playmate from hell sounds tough. BF buddy was a bit puzzling-bit late sureley?Maybe they are trying to recruit you?!

PrincessMel Congrats on the payrise! Your good mood rubbed off on me and I have been in a fab move all day I am stll soo undecided on the sling but have to do something soon. Joe also loves bashy noisy toys, his latest is some weird Fisher Proce thing we were given with a big long tube over a light up flower, a little dog that you bash (lights up the flower) and a tall lion thing. Hard to explain but he can teethe on it and puull it around/bash it all at the same time.

I am starting to think about babyproofing the house as Joseph is close to crawling now-he can seal/tummy shuffle backwards and is pulling up on his hands and knees for a short time and trying to propel forwards. Lots of sharp corners, is there anything I can get (maybe foam?) to stop him injuring himself?

Igglybuff · 22/04/2010 20:58

HT have a look on mothercare and kiddicare for baby proofing stuff. I also scared myself reading this. We've got these funny things you stick on corners of furniture and plastic plug thingies. But that's it so far. William sounds like he's at a similar stage to Joe. Scared!

Scout19075 · 22/04/2010 21:03

HT How was Joe/teething today?

fidelma · 22/04/2010 21:12

Oh lovin the chat.

Twinkle 30 is sooooo young.I had a James Bond party when I was 30 of course I was a sexy lady but there were some great costumes.I had 2 DC at the time.Oh and yes please to FB lovin the kitchen my style.

Ruby well done you for the sleep routien.

Iggly at crawling.I think Connor will be much slower. However that makes my life much easier.

HT for the sleep just when you think you can't take any more.Good boy.

Slings no wat Connor has been in the backpack for weeks. You must all have shoulders of steele.

Princess great news about the payrise I guess the drinks are on you.We also do ballet on a Thursday.

Scout I have given all my baby stuff away 3 times as I wasn't having anymore.Funnily enough I am keeping everything at the moment but that can't go on.As I am not having anymore. However I had DD1 when I was 25 and it is just 15 years until she is that age !!! (someone hit me over the head please ) LOL

Thanks for all your birthday wishes.I have had a lovely day.3 of my best special girl friends came round and spoiled me.I have lovely gifts and I feel very lucky. The family are comming to tea tomorrow.I don't usually bother much about my birthday but this year it has just happened. It has been a lovely surprise.

The first Xmas I was with my DH he bought me 3 little figures of Children 2 girls and a boy, not really my thing but now very special as we had 2 girls and a boy however as I am greedy and we had a 4th he needed to source another boy which he did without me knowing. It came from Cezch as he found the others in an antique shop. WEll of course I cried

Scout19075 · 22/04/2010 21:30

Watching the "debate" -- it's very depressing. And while they (the media) keep commenting how having debates is "very American" blah blah blah. But these aren't like the ones at home! ARGH!

Thirty (30) feels like AGES ago. I was still in the States and still dating my now DH. Who knew that two weeks after my birthday I'd go on holiday with DH and get engaged?! I'm staring down the barrel of 40. DH is four years younger than me so surprised him for his 30th a few years ago.

HC What happened at the playdate? I have a few years before I start those, but I do have to deal with nieces and nephews wanting to play with (read: hold) Seb whenever we see them.

fidelma Tell your DH he's done well!

What new thing/trait have you recently noticed about your DC? Mine is how ticklish Seb is becoming but, like me, can not be ticklish if he doesn't want to be. He is, however, very ticklish on his back so I know it's the sensation that makes him sit straight and belly laugh because when I do it I'm sitting behind him and don't make a sound.

fidelma · 22/04/2010 21:53

Actually I was thinking of suing the white company as it is because of their gorgeous catalogues of beautiful children that I went on to have 4 !!!

Do you think they would settle on a life times worth of PJs for my children !!!

Scout Connor loves to be tickled I tickle him with my chin (no it is not full of hairs) just at the bottom of his ribs and how he giggles.

Also DS1 jumps up and down infront of him and he cracks up.

HumphreysCorner · 22/04/2010 22:10

Said playmate was being horrible to DD2, slammimg doors constantly, knocked an artificial plant on Em's windowsill onto the floor, jumping on the beds. Don't see why I should put up with it.

I will attend the BF coffee morning but don't think I will enroll on the course.

fidelma · 22/04/2010 22:17

HC I would not put up with it. x

HumphreysCorner · 22/04/2010 22:41

DD2 was so excited and then so upset when they kept slamming the door in her face. She dressed herself in a fairy outfit as they wouldn't help her then she eagerly went to try and play with them only to be met by a door. I understand that she is not the friend but I would hope that they could have played with her a bit.

Night ladies.

Hey everyone

Will post a bit later when ive had time, so tired. Faith is covered in big red spots, and she is feeling really ill with them. She slept for an hour last night, the rest was her crying, rubbing her face & pain. She has one in her mouth & now finds it hard to eat

fidelma · 23/04/2010 10:00

I need to get control of Connors night time sleeping I am starting to go INSANE !!!!!

rubyslippers · 23/04/2010 10:03

HC - boo to horrid playdate.

Scout - sounds like Seb is doing really well

PM - yay for more ££

littlepea - chicken pox sounds miserable. Have you tried bathing her in bicarb of soda, or a handful of porridge oats in the bath? Very soothing

fidelma - am LOL at you suing white company ! i am giving EVERYTHING away ... Rubes is it for me (i think )

sorry if i have missed anyone - hope you are all ok - weather glorious here

x

CalypsoFramboise · 23/04/2010 10:26

littlepea poor little Faith, sounds really uncomfortable (and hard for you too). Hope it eases off soon x

twinkle just coming out the other end of a 2yr large property renovation (our second) and swore we'd NEVER do it again (I guess this is what happens when you swear this baby is your last!). Love to see how your project is going - are you managing it yourself?

HC playdate sounds mean, poor DD2

HT yay, glad you feel happier, hope your back and migraines are better too!

scout toothache on a longhaul plane sounds hellish, fingers crossed they pop soon

Swimming was fun yesterday, but again, still anxious about the wave machine! We (mummy/baby friends) were all comparing BCG vaccinations sites on babies' left arm (for TB), still looking awful, anyone else had one? When on earth does it heal?!

Annalise really won't entertain having breakfast anymore, after even half a milkfeed (ie 1 boob) won't have toast or porridge. Do you offer food first before milk?

princessmel · 23/04/2010 11:06

Morning. I am a zombie today, with achey legs. Had a crappy night.
Started ok , he woke at 1 then 3 but then was feeding and not dropping off till 5. In the end I left him gurgling in his bed and he dropped off. This doesn't usually work as he works himself up and gets more awake and gives himself wind.
Anyway dh got them up at 7.30 and left me to sleep...but he woke me at 8.20 and we have to go to school at 8.30! Arrrgh! I threw on an unironed dress and had to go with greasy hair I felt so awful and almost faint on the way up. I raced back home as quick as I could and washed my hair. But when I lay F on the upstairs landing with some toys, I banged his head on the carpet I felt so bad As I was laying him down , my grip loosened a bit and his head banged the carpet. Tiredness makes things go a bit wrong.

I am lying on sofa now and F is in bed.
Yesterday he had a fab 2hour 10min nap. And would have slept for even more but I had to wake him to go to ballet. I think I have worked out why he was waking after 20 mins so often. The white noise cd I play when he goes to sleep (in the day) is old (from ds1) and kept jumping after 20 mins!!! Duh. So no cd on yesterday and he had the mammoth sleep. Lets hope it continues.

Hope you're all ok.

princessmel · 23/04/2010 11:43

He has just woken after a 1hr 2omin nap phew, I needed that!

HumphreysCorner · 23/04/2010 12:29

littlepea-poor Faith, hope the spots crust over and start to heal very soon.

princessmel-hope you feel better soon too.

The playmate's mum is still my friend this morning. Phew!

Well, went to the BF coffee morning and it is a La Leche Breastfeeding Peer Counsellor Programme that runs for 10 weeks and you get a certificate at the end of it. They said it was 9-30 until 12 which I said I couldn't make and never mind but they have changed it to start at 10am instead so am going. There are some mums with a similar personality to me so that was good. Matthew was the only boy, all the rest of the babies were girls. Did get broody when I saw some tiny ones. Wish I knew about things like this when I was struggling to BF DD2.

Taking DD1 to a bowling and McDonalds party at 4-30 until 6-30 so wondering how to fit M's tea in.

Laters!
