Hi HT sorry just saw your post. I don't give the pots just buy the dried porridge (4 grain stuff with added fruit). Well I've bought one packet of pots - the blueberry one. And I only gave him 5-6 spoons (baby spoons!)

William has about a table spoon of porridge (mixed with grated apple or pear and my milk) for brekkie. Lunch will be protein, veg and carb (e.g chicken, squash and carrot casserole) and tea is just porridge or fruit puree. I'm taking it quite slowly.

The stuff that made William poo is the plum porridge with apricot. Just a few spoons worth and poos away!! If I think he's not had enough liquid I let him sip some water.

Taste wise, I try and give different veggies and add a tiny bit of spice (cumin, nutmeg, coriander etc). I also let him play with sticks of carrots, avocado, rice cakes, chips (which he loved) and today he had lumps of chicken.

Sounds like a lot! But I do struggle as no dairy as I think he's intolerant. At the moment I just see it as fun and I'm not trying to get much food into him......

It is daunting HT but it'll be ok. Remember, food for fun until they're one (or so I tell myself).

HC sorry about your SIL

ruby good luck with the sleep consultation. It will be worth it!

scout it's lovely round there isn't it? My friend had a cottage round there (can't remember exactly where) and I really liked staying there.

to everyone else. Bath time for William

BellaCullen · 19/04/2010 21:13

HC sorry to hear about your problems with SIL we`re here to listen if you want to talk.

HT try some pear and apple it will help with pooing and not too much banana definitely blockes them up.Nathaniel didn`t handle mashed potatoe either.

Nathaniel is feeling a bit better today was up for 2 hours from 4 am though so was very tired for first day back doing school run.His temperature is gone down but hes had a rash on his back last few days so took him to GP and said its eczema,so gave us some cream.Am sure it got worse after having some yoghurt so will give it a miss for now.

Sorry that meet-up didnt happen am definitely up for one and could go to one of the parks in London if weathers nice.

Ruby good luck with consultation tomorrow.Sadly with sleep training it gets worst before getting better.
Hope you all have a good night xx

Scout19075 · 19/04/2010 21:22

Wishing you luck, ruby. Bella Glad to hear Nathaniel is on the mend.

Iggly I love it up here. The first time I ever came up (during my first trip to the UK), I sat on the train to Cambs thinking "I could live here, it reminds me of home!" Even Mom said so when she came two years ago.

meet-up Yes, let's reschedule! Bummed it didn't happen but at the same time was glad because we had an unexpected family day in the sunshine -- out for lunch then to the local country park for an afternoon walk. Took lots of pictures to send to Seb's grandparents in the States.

We're off to the first session of AquaBabies tomorrow morning. I'm looking for to it, but have just remembered that I wanted to pack our bag tonight so I don't forget anything!

fidelma · 19/04/2010 22:46

Sorry the meet up did not come off Edinburgh ?

HT slowly with the weanning no problemo ,sometimes Connor has a mainly milk day.Today homemade bread (DD1 has the bread machine out, yum yum Connors bum !!!)Lunch a whole bought pot of apple and raspberry mixed with 2 teaspoons of plum organic porriage,Tea corrots with 2 table spoons of lentil soup and some bought blueberry puree and a few apple rice cakes (some throwen on the floor) Gosh that sounds like loads [gasp]

Hc sil grrrrrrr i have 2.

My dc are back to school tomorrow I suspect that there will be quite a few stuck around the world.

My brain is very active at the moment.I am putting some work proposals together.I wish it didn't want to do it but I feel more hungry now than ever I wish I could just be mummy.Mind you I don't need to leave them much and if I do my mum/friend has them and it is never more than 2 hours at atime.(some people will do anything to avoid the house work )LOL

We are also planning our extension/rebuild of the whole house. We are hoping to start in September.

I stood on the scales today.S£!£$ In my head I was thinner oh well it's now time to loose 1/2 a stone. So no eatting inbetween meals and more walking needed.I am going to have no treats in the house otherwise I just eat them.(I will need to settle for Connor's bum instead !!!!)Yum Yum pigsConnor's bum (incase you didn't know the rhyme.

fidelma · 19/04/2010 22:49

Ruby let us know how you get on.

IgglyBellaScout waves.

fidelma · 19/04/2010 22:50

Littlepea Waves to you to x

littlepea72 · 20/04/2010 06:14

Hi everyone!!!

Fidelma you do make me laugh loving your rhymes! And with the house, how exciting!! But my god girl, dont you ever let anything stress you out?? LOL

Im also having problems with Faith on solids, she will only eat Organix tubs for 4 month plus. Will only take a couple of spoonfuls of homemade puree, then stops, no packet stuff either. The Organix is nice (have tried) so not going to get to stressed just yet, and will continue to try my own stuff with her. Anything a bit lumpy or mashed is a no-no and finger food wont go near her mouth, just onto floor. How long did it take other little ones with the finger food?

I joined slimming world last night, cant believe how much you can eat! Im sooooo excited about starting, the food is so yummy & so many of my friends have lost so much weight on it. Plus you can still have chocolate & cake!

Up every hour from 10pm last night, more teeth coming through so so tired. Between her & the cat, they both get up at 5am every morning also....im ready for bed again!

My friend found a lump on her breast and had tests done last week at hospital, today she gets the test results back, really hope its just a cyst. I only hope they call her sooner rather than late afternoon, must be hell having to sit waiting. Fingers crossed!

HappyTangerine · 20/04/2010 07:03

Thanks all for the weaning advice. I gave Joe some sweet potato and butternut squash last night, just a few spoonfuls. Have resolved to stop stressing and just relax, continue with it at my own pace and drink some prune juice regularly, he'll get it through the breast milk. He is much better at finger foods than purees-carrot, celery and toast being particular favourites. He put on 5oz last week and now weights 17.12 so I'm going to stop beting myself up-he's fine and we're both learning.

littlepea Hugs for your friend, I've been there and it was terrifying. Hope the teeth show up soon, its exhausting.

HC I have such sympathy for you, I really, really don't get on with my SIL and now do all I can to avoid her. She ha been v unsupportive and hates sharing her mum. I was still trying to make an effort until at Christmas, I gave her Joseph to hold, he grizzled. She looked at me, then looked at him and said "There there, you're with your FAMily now"-clearly I was just the womb that carried him for 9 months . We're considering leaving the area now just to get away.Go to our FB discussions if you don't want to vent on a public forum, it could be v therapeutic

ruby good luck today

J awake so back later with more personals, thanks again x

HumphreysCorner · 20/04/2010 11:36

Hi all

Pasted from my Conception thread:

'We have had a horrible time with my SIL (my bro's wife) since Friday. Quick summary is that sadly her dad died and the funeral was last Friday. After the funeral my SIL ranted and screamed at my mum so badly that mum left in tears. SIL then asked to meet my mum in a local park the next day and she sat and told my mum she was hard, had ignored her father, I had done the same and the reason she fell out with me was not down to me wanting another baby but something I had said. I never ring her to see how she is. My mum talks about me and the girls and looks after my children. She finds it strange. She recalled things that have annoyed her about my mum since she married my bro 20 years ago. My mum says her eldest son looks like my bro which riled her so my mum said that's what Grandmas do. She told my mum my bro doesn't care about my mum. She said she never wanted my mum to look after her boys and the reason we don't go to my nephews birthdays is not because they are too old it is down to us sitting outside in the hot June sunshine at the last birthday instead of sitting inside with her poorly dad who couldn't get outside or eat etc. Honestly, you can't believe some of the things she said, I think she is ill. Her dad has been poorly since age 39 and was 68 (I think) when he died. I rang my SIL to try and mend things as she said she wasn't coming to the Christening and I want my bro to be Godfather. I am going to visit her next Monday so wish me luck. My mum as you would imagine is distraught. I really would like to tell my SIL a few home truths as I can't forgive the things she said to my mum. It was all her being hard done to.'

Saw mum last night and she is heartbroken and recalled more viper comments like me going to mum and dad's for tea every week is not right according to her. She thinks I have ignored her as I never ring to talk about her problems. I did try but she was horrible about us wanting baby no. 3. She has told my mum that she can't talk about me or DH's family as she doesn't want to hear it. I could go on and on. My dad is fuming and said he will never speak to SIL again so I imagine what will happen at Matthew's Baptism on the 6th June.

Big wave to all!

HC

Igglybuff · 20/04/2010 11:37

Early starts from a couple of you!

HT William prefers finger food and he feeds himself with the spoon (I give it to him and he shoves it in). Today he didn't take much in though - just sucked on a pepper and a couple of spoons of mashed chicken/squash.

littlepea I gave William finger food first and he just waved it about at first. That was about 24 weeks old? Now he eats it, well gums it and some goes down. Most ends up on the floor! (6.5 months). Fingers crossed for your friend. That must be scary.

fidelma where you find the energy for everything??? We're having our bathroom done (starting tomorrow) and I'm nervous!

Bella Glad to hear that N is better.

scout I'm envious. One day me and DH want to move out of London. We (semi) joke about moving to the Lake District

William did an enormous poo today (apricot porridge again)..... It went everywhere!!! I had to shower him which freaked him out a bit..

Time to go. I think William is teething as he's so grumpy whichis unlike him. He shouts now!

Igglybuff · 20/04/2010 11:44

x-post HC

just skim read as have to dash but and that your SIL has acted like that. that is well out of order!!!!!!!!!

How dare she.

Scout19075 · 20/04/2010 14:59

HC Big hugs. How dare your SIL?! Makes me on your behalf!

Iggly One of our friends keeps trying to get us to move into London. I don't want to give up my (small) yard and green spaces. I live in a town, not a village, but I love it just the same.

HT I gave Seb butternut squash last night, too! Seb seemed to like it. How did Joe get on with it?

ruby How was your consultation today?

littlepea I have a friend on (in?) Slimming World and she's been doing brilliantly. Good luck!

Weaning Seb wants NOTHING to do with holding food. Woman yesterday suggested giving him a chip to hold/nibble on until I said "He's only five months old." He'll get chips at some point, but I don't want his first chip to be a deep-fried crunchy one. He had a "slow" eating day yesterday (compared to other days) but wonder if he's feeling 100%. Yesterday and today he's been quite "chewy" on his hands, lots more crying and grizzing than normal and a leaky nose (that seems to bother me more than him). Today he's only had milk because he just doesn't seem interested in anything else (even not that interested in milk). I'll try him on some fruit before Guides tonight but won't push it.

We went to the first session of AquaBabies today. It was really good fun! Seb loves the water.

Realized today, while in town, that Sebby will be six months old next week. That means I've (almost) made my goal of six months of breast feeding! WAHOO! The other week, when I was talking to DH about weaning food and milk I told him that I want a badge.

littlepea72 · 20/04/2010 14:59

HC I not only think that your sil could be ill, but she also sounds like a very dangerous person to be arround right now, so please, be very careful when you meet her. I would also have someone with me or find a way to tape everything, just so it doesnt backfire on you.

It sounds like she is very envious of you & your DH, and cant stand to hear what you do or what you have, this she could be taking out on your poor mum. What does your brother say about it all? Does he take her side this??

I must admit that i also gave my MIL some mouth when my DS was young, but she tried to take over my life, and i lived in fear of that woman, it all came out & i went a bit mad we then moved to canada to get away from her. BUT....your sil is just nit picking with anything she can, and as you can no doubt say, fine, I think the hurt that this will cause your mum is unforgivable.

Goodluck HC let us know what happens xx

littlepea72 · 20/04/2010 15:01

scout sounds like seb is teething get feeling those gums!!

Scout19075 · 20/04/2010 15:04

littlepea I have been, trust me! Nothing yet but he's got a bite! I don't think my finger will ever be the same again -- lol

fidelma · 20/04/2010 15:09

HC I am sooooooo cross with your SIL what planet is she on.Scottish saying comming up "she sound like she needs a good slapping!"

Littlepea I am quite easy going. My DH can drive me to distraction and he can press my buttons (not in a good way)but I can also press his LOLI hate jelousey (sp?)

HT are there private discussions on fb or is really just the photo wall? I know nothing!

Avoiding putting the shopping away.I am enjoying everyone being at school and Connor being asleep.

fidelma · 20/04/2010 15:10

Scout who is your fav band?

Scout19075 · 20/04/2010 15:17

fidelma I'm enjoying Sebby being asleep in his basket not on me for once! Loads I should be doing but I'm enjoying computer time! My favorite band is the Barenaked Ladies (BNL). In case you don't know them (and I've found a lot of people here don't) they're Canadian and lots of fun! They also have a children's CD out which I'm going to get when Seb and I go home next month -- but have been playing the tunes on YouTube.

littlepea72 · 20/04/2010 16:04

fidelma in NI it would be "I'll have her!" LOL....

Scout19075 · 20/04/2010 16:35

Two hours on and Sebby's STILL asleep in his basket?!?!

Scout19075 · 20/04/2010 16:51

STILL sleeping. I keep going and checking on him and he's out (but has changed positions several times so clearly still okay!). Someone please reassure me he'll sleep tonight. He's NEVER slept like this during the day. Not complaining that he's having a nice nap, but I'm now worried about sleeping tonight....

HappyTangerine · 20/04/2010 18:36

HC Grief can do funny things to a person but I agree, your SIL sounds a bit unhinged.

fidelmayes, I meant the fb wall, although you probably can have a private discussion,I've no idea how though

Scout Barenakedladies are fab . Joe loved the butternut squash, also sweet potato. He's had carrot & potato cubes for lunch, just debating what to give tonight, prob a fruit. Enjoy the nap-is he teething by any chance?

I can't seem to express today -thinking 3 hrs sleep a night for the last 10 days and J's near constant milm feeds are wearing me out.

Igglybuff · 20/04/2010 19:24

scout is Seb still napping? Maybe he is catching up on lost sleep in the day?

Also another BNL fan here! Well, I liked one week!

I can offically report that William is teething - his bottom two teeth look very prominent and about to pop. I feel so proud

princessmel · 20/04/2010 20:24

Hello

hc poor you with your sil. I have had trouble with mine in the past too...
Can I ask if that is a recent conception thread or the one from when you were ttc M ??

food We are the slowest on the thread I think. F is still on a milk diet with the odd suck at some finger food. Literally a gummy/suck. I don't think any has gone in.
I am fine with this but would like him to sleep longer, Last night he woke at 11.50, 1, 3 and 5 then 7am arrrrggghhh!
Fed him each time.
We moved him from his crib into his cot at the weekend, still in out room though. He is 6m on sat but not leaving our room yet.

fidelma lots going on for you. Sounds exciting We'd love an extension one day.

scout enjoy your concert , I have heard of the BNL , not a fan though!

HumphreysCorner · 20/04/2010 21:29

Thanks for listening ladies.

PM-thread was from when TTC M. We are all good friends so decided to keep chatting while supporting others.
