Ooo dandy can't wait to find out who's guessed correctly & back from the gym! enjoy your well deserved bath.
pula we're a lot more relaxed with G food wise than DS. 1st time around we I prepared all AK style purees and no jars/pre prepared at all. This time G has a combo of finger foods, purees both homemade and bought.. we just go with the flow

FiByTheIcySea · 02/03/2010 21:31

... going to have to head off to bed soon ... hope i can last until dandy comes back all refreshed after her lovely bath & puts me us out of our misery

FiByTheIcySea · 02/03/2010 22:03

fi hits refresh one more time on her phone while in bed.. no.. still just me here.. need sleep.. night all x i look forward to reading about MM in the am

pulapancake · 02/03/2010 22:07

night night Fi- still waiting for Dandy to get out of the bath too.

youngerthanspringtime · 02/03/2010 22:07

dandy not back yet? I'm working . Just taking a break from reading my training manual for review. My password doesn't work for a few of the remote applications so i'm limited in what i can do tonight anyway.

Fi, on weaning we've been going with the flow for Harper as well. She's been partially BLW'd but often doesn't seem to get enough food this way so I end up spooning it in. like today for example, I gave her the big bow-tie/farfalle pasta which she can pick up but she ended up spitting it out after shoving the whole thing in her mouth. I then chopped up the pasta and fork-fed her - she ate the lot.

oh, she's got the 2 top teeth poking through!

sausage, don't despair. you are doing wonderfully and exactly what is right for you and baby.

pulapancake · 02/03/2010 22:26

I think i am going to have to go to bed as I am falling asleep on the sofa. Although S is down to 1 or 2 feeds a night the last 2 nights, he is still not happy about going back in his cot in the early hours rather than being cuddled in bed, so i have been awake with him for 1-1.5 hours (yawn). I have decided not to do CC ATM as I was concerned it was making his separation anxiety worse.

youngerthanspringtime · 02/03/2010 22:33

goodnight Pula, sweet dreams. I'm heading there in half an hour.

wise not to do CC, there will be a better time.

belgina · 02/03/2010 22:40

Hi everyone,

Day 2 of induction was much more lively. Feeling oddly exhausted at the moment.

MM Also curious as to his real appearance.

sausage Don't worry about what you are doing. We are all doing different things on here too. As long as you do what suits you and M, that's what counts. Oh and you have every right to feel smug about a baby sleeping 11h at night I had different approaches with every child so far. DS was mainly home made puree, with the odd jar thrown in and finger foods from around 9-10m. Dd1 was jars, due to me being busy with mw training etc... and again finger foods (and jars) from around 9-10m and now C is BLW. All different, but each approach worked for the each individual baby and situation we were in at the time. E.g. Ds being PFB and me being SAHM = plenty of time to make purees. dd1 full time mw training = no time whatsoever to do purees and she refused to take a bottle, so getting in some food was essential, hence spoon feeding. C: longer ML, part time return to work i.e. BLW is now working for us.

Hello everyone.

MM come on, Dandy spill !

Sausage ditto everyone else's advice. Stop worrying. I reckon your friend is feeling insecure herself if she's making comments like that.

Fi hope you are all on the mend and the bugs keep away from your family, as you have definitely had your share already this year !

Younger nice to see you on here. What a shame your password doesn't work !

DH has been home the last two nights, so I am looking forward to him being away tomorrow night so that I can fill out some job applications in peace at last

youngerthanspringtime · 02/03/2010 23:18

hi Tummum, good luck on your job search.

work tonight: managed to order some stationery from head office and put forth some expenses, reading, reading, reading. boring.

I really need to sort out an office. my old office is now H's room. atm, working at the dining room table where little hands will shuffle through papers, crayon on client information, steal paperclips, etc.

Dandy, can't wait any longer, too tired.

Oh well I was wrong on all counts Dandy. Time for bed now me thinks. I fell asleep on the sofa, woke to the sound of S crying at 11.30, gave him a feed but it wasn't what he wanted. Had another check on tooth no. 4 and it was finally cutting through his gum. Bonjela didn't seem to help him settle so he's had calpol and DH is up there trying to settle him. Better go help in a mo.

rofl dandy i never saw MM like that in my head! explains a lot though & his favored method of school run transport is one i thought the younger more sprightly would use. But considering his low center of gravity due to his build I suppose he feels quite safe on it?! The older academic with his young wife (& pos MIL too) at home to dote on him.. can see he's used to not having to lift a finger and just think about the world in his own bubble. Academics can be a strange lot indeed

SpangleMaker · 03/03/2010 07:23

Hi everyone! Sorry for repeated lengthy absences. I keep reading but not finding time to do a proper NC post but I have a few minutes before going out to work (just for catch-up meeting, not starting back properly until after easter, but all the same).

Dandy very amused by MM story. A from me too. An academic.. makes sense... although all the Americans I have ever met have been extremely polite (honestly, not just sucking up to younger). Although the one American academic I met had some alarming table manners.

Pula sounds like we're in a similar position with sleep patterns. We finally transferred H to his own room last weekend. I can re-settle him in his cot up until say midnight but after that it's too challenging and I'm too tired so he comes in with us. I'm getting some 3hr stretches from him and feeding less (say 10.30, 3 and 6) but he's still grumbling a lot. I too am putting off any ideas of sleep training for now due to separation anxiety which is bound to be exacerbated when he starts nursery.

Sausage you are a great Mum! And an even better one as you don't need to brag about parenting choices*. At the end of the day, it's about what works for us and our babies, not what anyone else thinks. So ner to your friend.

*although I would be very tempted to throw in a comment about M's excellent sleeping

Oops better go and get my train... feeling ridiculously nervous

muddleddaizy · 03/03/2010 08:08

Spangle is it your 1st day back at work? Good luck. Ds1 always used to end up with us during the night, don't worry about it. It just makes things slightly more bearable when they don't sleep!

MM I was going to post last night and say my uncle an academic! I had to LOL Pula!! Sausage Don't feel inferior to your friend. I think its pretty bad form to gloat about this, because it's completely different from person to person!

Younger I hope you sort yourself an office out. Must be really frustrating with all those little hands on your stuff!

Right I need to work out how to get all my info off my old phone and get it onto my new one. The new one is abit high tech for me!! Hope everyone has a good day!

muddleddaizy · 03/03/2010 08:11

Oh darn my strike out didn't work! I was jesting about my uncle (who is not an academic!), just rather full of his own self importance! I did think it could have been an academic though! Oh my I'm waffling now - hope you understand me!

hopalongsausage · 03/03/2010 08:28

Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou everyone . Friend is actually DH's original friend, and when he came home from work I told him about the conversation, and he said she is just .... actually I was about to type it, but better not, its a bit mean, haha. And yes, pizza. Quite.

I really did try with the BF thing but M was just faffing about with it (although she surprisingly showed some interest the other day when I was changing her bum - I had just come out the shower, so towel was wrapped around my waist - she leaned across and pinched my nipple! Cheeky. Anyhow, she now has a mix of pureed stuff and occasionally what we have (fish pie, chicken pie mix, spag bog without the spag but macaroni instead).... sigh. You get the picture. Even tried her with scrambled egg on Saturday when we had it and we were all chuffed that she wolfed it all down. Terrified, however, when we changed her and noticed a violent rash all over her chest and back!!! . She was fine apart from that. Fortunately my friend in my office is the allergy nurse so we're going to sneak in for some skin prick testing. Bloody egg allergy, that's all I need!

Hey ho. Dandy - MM - I can't believe that scooter contraption! WTF? He sounds like a complete jerk (theres a nice American-ism for him, hahahaha)

I need to change my surname to DH's. First step is a new passport. I have been practising my new signature and it looks ridiculous. (remember the days of practising your new 'signature' with the boyf of the moment's surname back at school? Siiigh)

Spangle - hope work is ok!
Belgina - hope death by powerpoint isn't too excruciating! Are you at the hospital beginning with W by any chance? We do outreach clinics there . When I started at my present Trust we had a whole day of equal opportunities. Yawn.

Morning all!

dandy - rofl at MM and his scooter!!

sausage - everyone is right, you are fab. All babies and families are different, and you do what works for you. A has a suspected egg allergy too, we've been referred to the paediatric allergy clinic to get her tested. Although don't get me started on the choose and book system that doesn't actually have any appointments!!

tummum - good luck with the job hunting.

Hope everyone is ok! Ok here, more toilet troubles with DD1, dreadful sleep, I've got a cold etc etc.
