dandy Never heard the original MM story, but he sounds very rude. (I somehow imagine him very fat and bald )

reebee Welcome back. Have fun catching up.

jael Hope your dd got on well this morning. It sounded like she wasn't all that fased by it

fi Hope you're feeling better soon.

headless Hope you got some relaxation on your child free day in the end

flippin Glad to hear you had a lovely time at the wedding and aaaaaw at your DH remembering to complement

muddled Ouch. Hope the pain goes soon.

Erm... I think that's all the NCing done.

1st day back was OK. It's been a day of being talked at during the Trust induction. Think intro to directors, structure of trust, plans etc... followed by a talk by the HR dept (by the most nervous public speaker I've ever seen), infection control, child protection, etc... etc... etc... Tomorrow more of the same + a bit of resuscitation, which will be more fun as more hands on. Yawn. Sitting down being talked to is very tiring. I think the phrase "death by powerpoint" is not an exaggeration.
C has been well behaved for the ap too. She went down for her naps, ate and took bottles. The ap has given in to the cuddle to sleep method, possibly because she knows it's quicker.

This evening I was getting annoyed about missing pieces of one of C's toys and I had a root around the sides and cushions of the sofa. the stuff I found! Numerous nail files, bits of lego, magnetix, pokemon and littlest petshop, C's comb I have been looking for for months. Maybe I should check the sofa a bit more often

glad your first day back wasn't too bad belgina hopefully tomorrow is definitely less PP boring. It prob won't be long before you are 'in the thick of it' so to speak? Great that C had a good day with the ap too.. although i'm sure she missed you as much as you did her. Did you get a beaming smile when you got home?

Reggiee · 01/03/2010 21:08

A rather belated

FiByTheIcySea · 01/03/2010 21:21

sorry guys.. can't stay awake any longer so i'm off to sleep. did better tonight though.. made it past 7.30pm! night night x

essenceofSES · 01/03/2010 21:25

Work was ok today but I start to get quite anxious from about 4pm about getting back to pick O up, even though I know I normally can't leave work until 5pm at the earliest. O still v clingy but also full of cold which won't help. He's still sleeping in bed with me from about midnight onwards.

On the plus side with work, I met with my boss this afternoon and he is on hols next week and wants me to represent him at a regional pharmacy meeting in London for the whole of the south east. Great that he has so much confidence in me when he had 6 of us he could have chosen from!

Belgina - glad your day was ok. Inductions are always soooo boring.

Jael - sounds like DD was going to be fine

ReeBee - hello!!!

Dandy - still. I agree that the image I have of MM is fat and bald

Fi - sorry you've been hit by another bout of poorlies but hope you'll all be well soon and hope DS sleeps in the end tonight!

Running - ooh! washing out on the line! Did it take long to dry?!

belgina · 01/03/2010 21:33

fi I did get a big beaming smile from C. Several, everytime she looked away and then saw my face again she grinned. As if she couldn't believe I was back and staying back.

Ah Belgina- sounds like C was happy to have her mummy home. I love it when DH comes home and S sees him and gives him a big smile. Sometimes I just get sobs as he wants milk/mummy cuddles but he's fine once i am holding him. I love it that i am the only one who can hold S and he will instantly calm .

dandy- I imagine MM to be tall, big feet, big bellied, thick glasses and dark hair, thinning on top/comb over . I think some of this is due to him sounding rather oafish and clumsy. Not sure why i conjured up his particular hair style .

youngerthanspringtime · 01/03/2010 22:53
Shock
youngerthanspringtime · 01/03/2010 22:58

Reebee, hi! good to see you back here.
Ses, glad you have a boss who respects you and is confident in you. it makes a difference. it's so tough going back to work after maternity leave that so many bosses say the wrong things, act stupid, etc. (eg mine and a few others I've heard lately).

belgina, glad your day went ok and how sweet C's reaction to you coming home. so is the AP settling in ok? hope so.

FiByTheIcySea · 02/03/2010 07:58

awww belgina that's lovely of C.
That's a great confidence boost ses from your boss.. you must have been missed on ML!
I'm feeling much more on the mend today.. loads of early nights are making a difference. Off to baby n toddlers later this am. Will be good to get out. DS gave in after my frog marching him back to bed at 8.30pm but he woke as usual at 5.45am though..

Wow my internet is working. WOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!!

I have been awol due to stupid internet not working.

I have internet for now, this is a quick bookmark post before it keels over again

younger Finally got the wellies in our local Monsoon. They have been worn every day since and they were £14.00 btw

Right, must clear up luncheon remains (cheese straw, banana, mango, quavers, banana muffin )

See ya laaaaayyyyyyytaaaaaarrrrrs

youngerthanspringtime · 02/03/2010 14:28

hoorah for Hinny! hate being off the internet. Wellies- you Eve must be pleased. they are a bit more dear than the ones I'd have bought at TEsco or Asda but dd1 is chuffed they have a 'belt' on the side like mummy's .

still cleanning up remains here as well. going to find it ever so difficult to fit work in in the daytime. I've tried a few times to login during Quiet Time but someone always wants something. Guess I'll have to stick to tel calls during the day and all admin at night.

Dandy, is MM american ?

FiByTheIcySea · 02/03/2010 14:33

hmm i've been thinking about how MM would look.. my initial thought was someone that fusses & preens a lot about his appearance, hair & what he wears.. you know the type.. that always thinks he looks good and likes his designer gear. Then i thought he obviously likes a few lagers so he'd prob have a bit of a beer belly too esp now he's hit say mid 40's? He obviously does no dc care at home or he'd be very hands on with his DS outside so i'd guess his or her family are quite close and involved and he probably gets waited on at home like his mum did or maybe still does?! i'd say it was very unlikely he'd be european or caribbean in nationality as they are so family oriented (thinking of the friends i have). Most likely white british or a nationality that favours boys above girls. he'd have short styled brown hair, brown eyes & be average in height 5'10"? job wise.. if not in the family business then something managerial or computer based? sorry got carried away there

FiByTheIcySea · 02/03/2010 14:39

hiya you 2 i'm enjoying a little break with jakers on cbbc amusing DS while G asleep..

FiByTheIcySea · 02/03/2010 14:45

I popped round to see my bf this am who had her little girl by cs last mon. her dd is so cute and i got a lovely long snuggle while she slept after her feed. G was fascinated & i'm now all mushy again..

runningmonkey · 02/03/2010 14:50

Afternoon all,

Well, I have had a productive day . Wasn't sure whether to take A swimming as she has been a little sniffly but seemed otherwise fine so decided to chance it. Was v glad I did as she loves it so much She has been asleep since 1.30 so apart from clearing up lunch debris, I have been fannying about on the internet!

And guess who just woke up! I think she has MN radar or something...

hopalongsausage · 02/03/2010 17:09

Omg.

(belated)

Dandy, you are uber-patient. And nice. I would have told MM, in no uncertain terms, to eff off if he can't be arsed to lift a finger. Gah.

Ho hum. Am sat here and M is trying to eat the corner of the desk.

Hip thingy was fine, thanks everyone . One minute I was telling the anaesthetist about M, then I burst into tears as I was so nervous about being put to sleep and then POW I wake up and its all over. Phew. Hip felt a bit extra bouncy and bendy for about, oooh, a day (he injected some local anaesthetic and steroid in) but its back to being sore again, although not as bad. Hm. Roll on the 16th for head of femur shaving! Yum!

Ok. I have the collywobbles. I have a friend coming for lunch on Thursday, who's baby is 2 months younger than M. It has taken me a good while, but I am now very proud of M taking her bottles and eating all most of the food that I make for her (hurrah for Annabel Karmel person!) - she is now a fairly chunky little sausage and a happy one at that, and we are in a lovely routine. Friend coming on Thursday's LO is still being breast fed and she has been doing BLW. She asked me how weaning was going over the phone, and I told her what I'd been doing and she loftily replied 'oh, A eats what we eat - we've been doing BLW all along - we went to the pub with friends for lunch earlier and he happily munched on pizza!' Boooo. This has sent my confidence plummeting to rock bottom again. I feel like such a bad mummy and I have no idea why. Duh. (Still, he co-sleeps with her and she feeds him ALL night,(ie 5 - 6 times) so she gets NO sleep, so am I really mean in feeling a bit better and ever so slightly in the smallest possible way a bit smug, in that M pretty much sleeps for 11 hours on her own in her own cot in her own room?)

Have I opened a bag of worms?! Am dreading lunch on Thursday now

Is it too early for wine?

Soz not to namecheck. Am all pissed off and feeling rubbish-y. Gr.

essenceofSES · 02/03/2010 17:37

saus - If there's one thing I've learnt from spending time with my NCT and post-natal mums, it's that everyone needs to do what works for them and that is what makes them a great mummy.
Amongst my friends we have a mix of BLW, puree and bit of both, a mix of co-sleeping, GF and all sorts of other variations on numerous things.
I've been in the position of your friend where I've been out with a friend who's been doing purees and I've been doing BLW. I was worried as I thought she'd think me insane and giving O foods that would potentially make him choke. It worked fine though and we each just did our own thing and respected what the other was doing.
HTH

Will try and pop back for a proper catch up later...

FiByTheIcySea · 02/03/2010 18:40

just a quickie as in mid bedtime hell chaos.. sausage don't you dare feel inferior to your friend. There are always people who come across as competitive and one up no matter what you do or say. i've met loads of them since having DS & many are friends with similar aged dc's. i just smile and listen to them on x y z's achievements / their way of doing whatever and comment it's obviously working for them. I don't often follow up their comments with how i/we do xyz or my dc's achievements so there is no competition. when the conversation runs it's course about them them i mention about us if asked (sometimes they're too self absorbed to get to this stage though!). Anyway i'm rambling.. just Remember everyone and every dc are different and you are doing a fantastic job! so give yourself a bucket full of gold stars and don't stress about what works for you! ok?! xoxox

SinginHinny · 02/03/2010 19:04

dandy Is MM German

saus Stop stressing. You've done wonderfully. . I still worry 3 kids down the line . With DD1 I pureed, mashed, froze in tiny portions and whatnot. I think blw is partially down to lazyness (laziness?) (in my case anyway)

younger I have a sudden urge to have a t-shirt with 'Hoorah for Hinny' on it. Here ooop further North 'Hinny' is an endearment, as well as a 'singing hinny' being something along the lines of a welshcake (minus the fruit) or a drop scone/girdle scone).

Ah must go, DH returns

runningmonkey · 02/03/2010 19:39

saus wot the others said. No stressing for you missy. You are doing what works for you and M is thriving, that's all that matters

muffin man am I the only one who pictures a man in a baker's hat?

runningmonkey · 02/03/2010 19:40

I should add that said muffin man is wearing baker's whites as well, otherwise... ewwwwww

FiByTheIcySea · 02/03/2010 19:57

I'm predictive texting one handed on my phone as my left hand is currently soaking in a pint glass of freezing water.. must be more tired than i thought.. just splashed my fresh hot cuppa tea all over my fingers as i was carrying it through from the kitchen. stupid stupid stupid OW!!!!
