oops, didn't notice the thread was getting too big!

PMSL at the Burn's night smilies; I thought they were wearing earphones.

not sure I agree with them; as a proud Scot, I hate all that fucking tacky tartan crap that we get labelled with, tartan tammies and fake ginger hair more than most

Fab Daisy : Good for you!

Sputnik · 23/02/2010 22:23

That's impressive Daisy, well done!

LittleMissNorty · 23/02/2010 22:46

well done Daisy

Where have you been Sputnik?

LackaDAISYcal · 23/02/2010 23:11

have celebrated with 2/3 bottle of wine and a small bag of chocolate buttons

Wish I had been somewhere Norty, just 1/2 term hecticness!

Ohforfoxsake · 24/02/2010 12:26

I won an MN prize too!!!

A years supply of Fairy liquid [ROFL]

Sputnik · 24/02/2010 12:59

In my house that would be about a bottle, as we have a dishwasher. Suppose you could use it as bubble mix.
Congratulations anyway, and what did you make with Fairy bottles as a kid?

Ohforfoxsake · 24/02/2010 14:17

Some very tasteful bangles - a length of bottle and bind colourful wool around. Should you wish to try it at hom...

how the devil are you Sputnik?!

LittleMissNorty · 24/02/2010 14:21

. So how many bottles is a years supply then? Do you not have a dishwasher?

Ohforfoxsake · 24/02/2010 14:23

I do have a dishwasher.

There was a prize mentioned, but no mention of what it actually was.

I'd rather have a years supply of Finish!!

FairyFay · 24/02/2010 15:04

Hello everyone

Well done Foxy and Bumper - Foxy maybe you could ask for Fairy dishwasher tabs

I presume from Sputnik's comment that Bumper is pg? Congrats to her, if she still lurks on here

Sputnik · 24/02/2010 17:08

i'm fine thanks Foxy
yes FF Bumper is pg.

JammyQueenOfTheCasualties · 24/02/2010 20:02

Well done Foxy! You can always give bottles of Fairy away as wedding favours instead of sugared almonds or the like?

LackaDAISYcal · 24/02/2010 21:21

lolol at the year's supply of Fairy

but isn't that two competitions you have won here now

bumble has slapped cheek...as diagnosed by a school gate mum who is a GP! Looking at images on google; it's exactly the same. Poor mite is beside himself with itchiness. I called the doctors again today as he was up half the night scratching and this morning it was covering his entire torso and was spreading down his arms and legs and up the back of his neck and ears. I was told "oh just give him priton then", with an undertone of "please don't bother us again" . Not sure whether there is any point in taking him back though to get a proper diagnosis, but a close friend is pregnant and it is dangerous if she catches it. Mind you if she is going to catch it she will; not much to be done really

DS1 had slapped cheek and no-one gave a flying f* (I informed the schoo etc...)

yay for the prize-winners and the weight-losers and the bargain-getters

laptop got a virus - I had a massive post ready to go the other night and it just crashed

Riapwhatyousow · 25/02/2010 00:13

poor bumble

life crap here, but fecking laptop crashes before i have chance to moan about it post!

JammyQueenOfTheCasualties · 25/02/2010 12:56

Sorry about laptop/virus and general crapness Ria.

JammyQueenOfTheCasualties · 25/02/2010 21:40

Well we are off to my parents' tomorrow. Cake is packed as best I can in a cardboard box, hope it survives the journey. Icing snowdrops didn't work out so I went and bought some from the garden centre yesterday Hope they like it. (Foxy, I will put pics on FB after the event so you can judge if you want me to do your 50th WA cake ) Be lovely to see my brother too, he is back from Brazil for the week. Fab that he will be at the party.

Have a good weekend everybody!

Riapwhatyousow · 25/02/2010 22:38

have a lovely weekend jammy, and massive congratulations to your parents. hope it is a party of happiness

looking forward to seeing the cake. DH made a Big Top this week for the little girl at work. he was most put out and defensive when I mentioned he had never made a cake for our kids, let alone spent his 2 days off making it

JammyQueenOfTheCasualties · 26/02/2010 05:45

the cobbler's children always go unshod and all that. Sounds like if knows he is out of order though.

JammyQueenOfTheCasualties · 26/02/2010 19:26

Arse!!!!! We left here after an early lunch, got about a third of the way there and the car broke down Green Flag sent someone out who couldn't tell what it was, so we used our recovery option to get home. Jamlet has had 2 green liquidy nappies this afternoon, but seems OK, so not sure if a bug or not - may be teething as she has said her teeth hurt, but tbh it feels like they are through. Car can't be looked at until Tuesday, and as it is VERY awkward for DH getting to work he is keen start looking for a replacement in case it is bad news on Tuesday (we were looking at getting a second car soon anyway, so even if car if fixable it wouldn't hurt.) So he doesn't want me to go away on my own tomorrow on the train, as harder to look for a car with Jamlet, but I don't want to be dragging a potentially bug ridden and pooey toddler for hours on a train and then into a party. And the journey back on Sunday would be a NIGHTWMARE because of engineering works. So DH and I have had an argument - I was that he assumed I wouldn't go and didn't understand that getting to this party was v v important to me. He says he si just thinking of what is best for us a family, which I do get, but am still very and a bit . And of course I have THE CAKE here, so my DSis has to rush out tomorrow and arrange a make-do replacement.

On top of that, having decided that not a good idea to travel with Jamlet because of a) the state of her bottom and b) the awful public transport arrangements I rang the vet to say I would collect our cat (who was meant to be staying there while we were away) and got told that her blood sugar had dropped too low, so either her diabetes has reverted (Which can happen in cats) or the dose is too high even though it's a really low dose. But she is still losing weight and has hardly eaten this week (which may of course be linked to the v low blood sugar) and has been sick again and the vet is concerned that her abdomen seems swollen and is wondering if there is something else going on, such as a growth, even though she can't feel anything obvious on examination. SO, another set of blood tests and then there may be xrays required. All very and worry ing, not to mention £££

Sorry for the at huge rant, but I have just had enough and needed to let ot all out

LittleMissNorty · 26/02/2010 20:17

Oh Jammy . I think DH is being a bit mean just assuming you wouldn't go to such an important party....especially as your brother is going to be there and you've made the cake. Get him to look on-line at the car supermarkets tonight. Can you hire a car for the w/end? Can he stay at home with DD and you go?

And your poor cat

Thinking of you as well JBM Hope you're doing ok.

Well we've been to London for the day....boat trip from Greenwich to Westminster then the aquarium. The DCs LOVED it but we thought £17.50 per adult was a bit steep for what you get. Hastings (although smaller) is just as good. Underground and DLR back to Greenwich and a MacDonalds to finish off. They had a whale of a time but we're knackered.

I do object to poxy rubgy being on the TV on a Friday night....will have to do some internet shopping I think

JammyQueenOfTheCasualties · 26/02/2010 21:26

That's it entirely Norty, I was that he assumed I wouldn't go. Once we'd talked about it I agreed that overall it is more sensible for me to stay here, so although I am I am not any more. Am very though that after all the time we've been together he just didn't know that it meant so much to me. I can cope that he doesn't understand why, but to not know what is really important to me made me very . I must say though that we argued a lot less about this than I think we would have done in the past - perhaps my therapy is helping? We are now looking at cars available in the neighbourhood. No transport to get out and about looking at them isn't making it an easy job of course. At least we've just had a huge and yummy curry

Day out in London sounds good. I might be coming in on the 11th or 12th to see my brother - he's got a bit of time before they go back to Brazil Was £|17.50 the cost of the aquarium?

Riapwhatyousow · 26/02/2010 21:57

norty, ours is over £10 and no way is it worth that. I would be wanting gold-plated fish

for your day Jammy.

LackaDAISYcal · 26/02/2010 22:02

aw jammy, that's such a shame. I was thinking the hire option as well and jamlet at home with Dad...it would seem a shame for you to miss the party and for your parents to miss the cake after all your hard work; not to mention not seeing your brother when he has come all this way.

I hope you can find a way to get there.

London sounds lovely Norty, if a bit knackering! I am desperate to take DS to the Natural History museum, but it's going to cost a fortune for us to get there.

at DH's cake making for customers but not his boys Ria....but as jammy said about the cobblers children! My uncle was a painter/decorator and his house was in a terrible state. And my sister's handyman hubby has a houseful of unfinished projects! Probably because they aren't getting paid for that work!

Rotten day here....bumble is almost completely hoarse now, and got himself worked up into such a state that his paddy lasted an hour and a half. Finally he just collapsed in a heap on the floor and when I took him to bed just rolled over; this after three previous attempts to put him to bed.

After falling and bashing her face yesterday, DD fell over again today and has grazed her knee and bashed her nose again. The poor wee thing was beside herself with the shock of once again landing in a freezing puddle.

and on top of my insomnia I now have a hideous throat lurgy brewing....probably the same one as bumble.

and I have wine, but not sure I dancy even drinking it...I must be ill
