it's going to be another pj day today for sure headless with MN fb on phone ben 10 'on demand' too if i get desperate. fabulous dress.. love the colour options too. just the kind of sumptuous fabric to make you feel glamorous and sexy sounds like your brother has a v exciting job.. do you ever spy him on telly?

emmabemmasmom · 07/02/2010 12:08

GRRRRRR lost my post!!!

I did name check for once too!!! Arggg

Fi Sorry you are sick I hope you are resting up young lady!

Flip Love the dress. I will second the no leggings though. Also, teal heels, LOVE.

DH just took both girls to his dads for a few hours. I am in the house alone for the first time ever...honest. I have no idea what to do with myself. So used to always having someone need something that it is odd to have to fend for myself! What do you all do when you have a moment alone? lol

I feel happy right now, but give it an hour and I will start to miss them.

Right, off to do something exciting and cool...just don't know what yet

FiByTheIcySea · 07/02/2010 15:33

I am taking it easy embmom i'm in bed atm cuddled up with G and DS playing at the bottom of the bed while watching ben 10. 3.5 hrs to go then they'll both be in bed asleep..

emmabemmasmom · 07/02/2010 16:06

Fi Sounds good then, but who is counting? lol
(Pssst: I do it too!)

FiByTheIcySea · 07/02/2010 18:58

one down.. just DS to go.. he might have to 'read' his own story as i don't know if i can speak more than one sentence? he's tired so might not need more than one anyway!

youngerthanspringtime · 07/02/2010 20:35

Hi.
Fi, how you feeling? Love the sound of cuddling up with a baby (am another one who counts the hours down some days ).

emmabsmom, what did you do with your time alone? when I get a rare moment, I get flustered and at all the possibilities that I usually end up doing nothing productive or exciting.

LadyH, gorgeous dress! I bet it looks great as well with jeans (I do that trick too!).

hi to everyone else, hope your weekends were ok.

just a quick whinge, very frivolous. emmab might understand . a certain friend of mine keeps calling H 'harrrpurrr', like she's mimicking someone on Friends. now, I don't talk like that, I'm from Ohio and have had my accent softened by 12+ years living here and when she pronounces it that way, it sounds ugly, like she's making fun (well, she is). I mentioned it to her yesterday and she replied it's all in good fun. tbf, she's very nice and generous person and I'm sure she doesn't realise she's insulting me/my baby's name.

emmabsmom, do you get any of that mimicking, exaggerating your accent? it was slightly annoying, kinda funny when I 1st moved here, but I've been here long enough now that it's tiresome and it usually sounds/feels like an insult.

ok. rant over .

emmabemmasmom · 07/02/2010 20:52

young Hehehe I am the same and usually just wonder around the house aimlessly. All I did today was workout, shower (cleaned behind the ears and shaved things I didn't even know I needed to!), watched one of my recorded shows, and then gave in to housework! Not very exciting either lol

I do understand! People always say 'Your not from around here!'...er, oh really? And the worst is the 'Why are you here?' Like I am either not welcome, or that the idea of me even wanting to live here is to foreign to them. I don't have people make fun of me unless I say something totally American. I do get teased if I say something like garbage instead of rubbish in certain company...but I have gotten better about remembering who I am speaking to and adjusting accordingly lol I would be annoyed if someone was making fun of my babies names however. Why can't she just say it in her normal accent I wonder? Funny or not, once is haha...more than that is a little

Waiting for a freecycler to come and pick up some of S's clothes that she has grown out of. I cried going through her clothes...so sad!! Then I am off to bed because apparently I was 25 when I was pregnant with DD2 but once I had her I became 75...

Night all!

pulapancake · 07/02/2010 20:53

Fi- hope you feel better soon once the ABs work their magic. I also count down the hours til bedtime (7pm).

younger- that does sound annoying. I have an american friend here (from NYC), who has a baby called Hattie and she pronounces her name "Haddie". I would never dream of saying it in the same way as her, and like you say, you don't even say Harper in that way, so I am not surprised you get .

Belgina- I just caught up with your recent photos of C on FB - what great photos, they really made me snigger and lol. She is so scrummy!

Well, I feel very strange. I think my ADs have been suppressing my libido these last 6-7 months. I was starting to worry that i didn't find my DH attractive any more, but since stopping them, I have been desperate for some action .

emmabemmasmom · 07/02/2010 20:57

Cross post! Pula ADs...oh yeah. I stopped mine recently and for the first time in my marriage DH actually said to me 'No, means no' lol I guess even men have a happy medium and apparently I am trying to make up for lost time

well i'm tucked up in bed at last on my own.. DS got back up and i didn't have the energy to keep putting him back so we watched an interesting program on bbc2 lost kingdoms of africa followed by reading his Lego magazine and bingo he was eventually ready for bed.
grrr younger i would find the repeated mispronouncing of G or ds's name really annoying. i would probably correct them a few times as accents can make things tricky but then expect them to get it right or bit better at the very least. tis not a joke if the other party doesn't think it's funny.. tis just rood.

Dandy- I knew about suppressed libido being a side effect but didn't realise how strongly they would do it- I had assumed my lack of libido was due to being depressed, then being tired and breastfeeding. Now even though i'm tired and BF, I can't stop thinking about it, and poor DH has the "man flu" and not feeling in the mood lol.

Also, I should make it clear that I don't call my friend's baby "Haddie" as i thought it would sound patronising - just rereading my post and thought it might have read strangely, but i assume she would rather that than me try to say Hattie in a NY accent.

youngerthanspringtime · 07/02/2010 21:27

Dandy, hurrah for the elusive ballet shoe turning up!

pula, I know what you meant about Hattie. I'd go if my English DH said 'harrr purrrr'.

Also, I will definitely say something to my friend next time she makes fun of H's name.

flippinegg · 07/02/2010 21:33

Evening all!

Yay to the reappearance of the ballet shoe.

fi - hope you are ok and get a good night.

pula - wow to return of the libido! Still a distinct lack here.

Mispronunciation of names really annoys me. MIL still gets A's wrong, I want to shout every time she does it. But I don't because I'm a wimp.

I found some shoes today, they are lovely! These. Not quite as vampy as some I tried on - went to Dotty P's to try on the ones I'd found online, I could hardly stand in them, let alone walk and look after a toddler and a baby! Anyway, the Office ones are gorgeous, lovely colour and quite comfortable too . I'll be honest, I'm nervous about the whole outfit now, but sod it - I can't be arsed to go shopping again! Wagamama for lunch, the girls both tucked into noodles, dumplings and edamame.

FiByTheIcySea · 07/02/2010 21:37

yay dandy glad the ballet shoe turned up.. the question now is do you still know where the other one is?
pula think it must be real flu not man flu.. thought blokes generally were always up for it

fi- lol, he did say earlier he thought he must have swine flu as he felt so ill, but i have suggested an early night and suddenly he seems to be feeling much better, so must have been man flu after all . night night ladies

FiByTheIcySea · 07/02/2010 21:51

pula lol!!! have fun

FiByTheIcySea · 07/02/2010 21:58

Wagamama's.. i've never been.. am I missing out?

flippinegg · 07/02/2010 22:10

lol pula!

fi - quite frankly, yes, you are missing out. It's lovely, affordable, reliable Japanese food, mostly noodles. DH says it's pretty authentic (he goes to Japan every now and again). It's great, they don't mind children or mess. dandy - I'm sure if we got to Wagamama early enough (not much later than 12.30) they'd be able to sort us out, the only thing might be not enough high chairs!

My new shoes are lovely IRL. They are described as bottle green, but they are totally not at all, much closer to teal.
