dandy You were reading my mind re the Wagamama's near our meet up site I've never had it, but I've heard a lot of good about it. Also premature posting and finally "Weyhey" for the return of the ballet shoe.

pula Have fun and thank you for the comments on C's pic. She is very chubbilicious.

Hmm, I'm not on AD's but have no libido, still. Must be the tiredness + bf combo. Had that with the other 2, but back then it didn't affect my libido. I wonder why it does this time

flip Nice shoes. Comfort is important too. You'll need to stand around, dance and chase toddlers at the wedding, so it's only sensible to think of your comfort too

fi How are you feeling tonight? Are the ABX kicking in yet?

mispronouncing names Luckily my dcs have names that you can't go wrong with, though DH has a few friends who insist on calling DS the abbreviated form of his name, which I really don't like. I still can't see the point of the English habbit of abbreviating names. With us if you say want to call a child 'Jim' you name them 'Jim' not 'James' IYKWIM. Same with ds.
Never have anyone immitating/making fun of my accent. Most people can't place it. They often think I'm from another part of the UK or scandinavia Even when I say Belgium I often get comments about Danish pastries [double ]

youngerthanspringtime · 07/02/2010 22:20

flippin, love the shoes and the colour.

wagamama - am a massive fan though I've not been there in a few years. food is simple, fresh, inexpensive and delicious. very filling as well.

incidentally, i made chicken stir fry with noodles using thick udon type noodles and miso, soya sauces... i'm worried that my girls have an excess of sodium flowing through their bloodstream tonight. dd1 loved it, dd2 gave it all a miss, Harper grasped the chicken and chewed on it but didn't 'get' the noodles.

wish I could make the London meet .

belgina · 07/02/2010 22:23

wagamamas I don't mind having C on my lap, so that's 1 high chair less needed. I've never heard of Giraffe.

Don't worry Dandy, I won't judge you on your shoes (much ).

That was another dreadful night! A was just awake for hours, DH and I took it in turns to stay downstairs with her, she just would not sleep. Flat out now.

Hope everyone had good nights!

cherrytom · 08/02/2010 10:56

Hi flippin awful night here too we were up till 4 am and then up for the day at about 7.45
I feel ok at the moment but am sure to feel completely frazzled later...
I'd be interested to hear what you all think about something that is bothering me. J is still a little wheezy but generally breathing easily with no shortness of breath now, he's also a lot less mucousy. Yesterday we put him down for a nap in the afternoon and after about 30mins the motion sensor alarm (which pick up breathing) went off. I rushed in and picked him up not checking first whether he was breathing. I do remember he was completely still despite the loud alarm, anyway when I picked him up he opened his eyes and was fine. DP is convinced it was a false alarm whereas I'm not so sure. WWYD do you think it's ok to just put it down as 'one of those things' and be extra vigilant about it happening again or would you be whisking your LO off to the gp. J seems absolutely fine and I'm 98 percent sue I'm being a drama queen but there is still a niggly 'what if?'

Wowee that was long

oh and lol at trial by shoe- for those of us not attending the meetup can someone take a photo of Dandys shoes so we can all make our judgement

what to do with my day? Do I risk taking the little wheezer out as I am getting cabin fever and all this talk of shoes is making me hungry for some shopping!

Tummum · 08/02/2010 11:32

Morning all. DD1 is ill with fever and headache, so I am off work looking after her. It's been lovely having a lazy time in front of the telly and watching the snow through the patio doors. And not being at work . I'm sure I will feel differently this afternoon when the lack of sleep catches up with me.

We definitely need shoe photos from the meet-up please.

Cherry I would take DS out before you go stir crazy. Some fresh air might help him too. I think you should trust your instincts on the breathing thing. Might be worth booking an appt just in case so his chest can be listened to. So I have contradicted myself there

belgina · 08/02/2010 12:28

Hi everyone,

Just back from dentist and have 1 numb side in my mouth. Horrible. Would like a cup of tea, but daren't in case I dribble The dentist says it should wear out in 4h, so I should be OK by 11

dandy @ you planning your shoes already. I must say I've been worrying about my footwear too, especially as my fave flat shoes broke on sat and my fake Ugg type things are now extremely scruffy.

cherry If it happens more often, it might be worth taking ds to the GP's. I'd also have a good look at the pad for any loose wire/connections that might have set off the alarm.

I started writing this a little while ago and then the school phoned to ask the about the dcs packed lunches. The thing was that I hadn't made them, because despite getting a fresh loaf of bread yesterday, there wasn't enough this morning to make their lunches and I'd only just got back from the dentist, so I had to quickly make them and take them to the school. I found that a bit odd though, because I've had it before that they didn't have their lunch with them and the school just gave them a hot dinner instead without calling me

belgina · 08/02/2010 12:29

My mouth should be OK by 3, not 11 Can't count anymore.

Snow here too, btw. We're supposed to get quite a bit later on in the week.

pulapancake · 08/02/2010 14:23

cherry- at first i was going to suggest not worrying and just to put it down to a false alarm and as you have the sensor, at least you will know to go and see him if it happens again. But then it reminded me of when my DS1 had a bad ear/chest infection, he ended up in hospital overnight and the monitor they had him wired up to kept going off and they kept administering oxygen (and he had an inhaler and steroids for a few days too), and I always wonder what would have happened if i hadn't taken him to the GP .

headless- I meant to say yesterday that i love that dress you bought (did you get orange or lime green). DH loved it too, and was trying to get me to order one, but i have never worn orange before, and green was out of stock, and then i saw it was dry clean only as it was pure silk . Not sure what to do now.

essenceofSES · 08/02/2010 14:26

Hello!!

We're back from our wkend at Center Parcs and you lot have been v chatty!! Not much hope of catching up in detail

We had a great time even though O was ill Fri/Sat. He was badly sick 3 times during the night but seemed to have recovered by Sat evening. He's also been v dribbly as he's got a mild cold and has been teething with tooth no7 now through. (Think that deserves a )

Now just got the unpacking and washing to do...!

essenceofSES · 08/02/2010 14:31

cherry - we have one of those monitors with the alarm and the only time we've had false beeps is when O moves into an "L" shape around the v top and side of the cot so the pad can't pick his movements up. If you don't think that's the cause and you're worried there's no harm in going to the GP. Probably nothing but it's better to put your mind at rest and endure the GP "waste of time glare" than worry needlessly.

Belgina - ouch! Hope your mouth feels better soon.

Tummum - hope DD1 gets better soon.

shoes - I'd better get my footwear sorted for the meet up!! Tbh, I'm more worried about travelling across London with O

Sorry not much of a better catch up, really must go and unpack!

pulapancake · 08/02/2010 14:35

ses- do you have a sling for O? might be easier than trying to cope on the underground with a pushchair, although i've seen lots of people with pushchairs so it must be possible, and I know I would help someone if I saw them struggling with a LO. So try not to worry too much .

flippinegg · 08/02/2010 14:36

Welcome back ses - glad you had a good break, but sorry to hear that O was ill. 7 teeth?! Oh my goodness!!

begina - how is your mouth feeling now? Have you dribbled your tea yet?! My face is still bruised after my wisdom tooth coming out, now it's that lovely attractive yellow-green-gray bruise colour, good look!

cherry - I'd be inclined to get J checked out. I'm sure it's nothing, but you'll be worrying if you don't.

On a related note, I've cancelled A's swine flu jab (supposed to be tomorrow). Last week she had scrambled egg for the first time and her face went very red and blotchy. She's had minute amounts of egg in other things (pasta, cake etc) but this was the first time she'd had egg as the main part of a meal, not just as an
ingredient in somthing else. Anyway, as the swine flu jab is one of the ones that use albumen, and there's a history of allergies in the family, we decided to cancel it, and I've got an appt with the GP to see about getting her referred for allergy tests. DD1 will still have hers tomorrow and DH has already had his.

essenceofSES · 08/02/2010 14:37

Thanks Pula. I do have a back pack, just not sure how happy he'll be in it for a lot of the day I'm sure I'll figure it out as the meet up is going to be my last excitement before going back to work the following week

essenceofSES · 08/02/2010 14:39

flippin - hello! Sounds like the right decision re SF jab if there's a suspicion of egg allergy.

FiByTheIcySea · 08/02/2010 14:39

lol.. but yes to photo of shoes if I don't make it to london
cherry like belgina suggested I'd also check the connections in case anything has come loose and worry wart that i am i'd also get his chest checked or i'd not be able to settle.. not that i'd expect anything to be wrong.. i'm just a 'what if' kinda girl iyswim.
belgina hope your mouth is coming back to life a bit. i can recommend chocolate and ice cream to help ease the throbbing
wagamama's does sound just like my kind of food. i have googled and the closest is 20miles away near clifton in bristol. i know that area quite well so the next i feel the urge to do some boutique shopping (and funds to match) i know where to go for lunch
a lovely friend took ds to/fro pre school today (her ds1 is ds's bf) i planned to go back to bed when G had her usual am nap.. but today she decides no nappy nap nap & now ds is home she's asleep! oh well.
my body still feels like it's been trampled by stampeding cattle and throat is improving but still v sore.
dr DS is looking after me though.. he's even brought all his bob the builder tools into the lounge to 'fix' me lol. oh dear apparently i need pliers!
yay tummum on not being at work but sorry dd1 has a fever. is she any better this afternoon?

pulapancake · 08/02/2010 14:43

fi- glad to hear you are a little improved, and well done you for still retaining your sense of humour despite feeling rotten. Your post made me . I have visions of your DS trying to fix you with his tools . Make sure you have some ice cream to soothe that throat- ben and jerrys or haagen daas (sp?) work best I've heard .

flippinegg · 08/02/2010 14:44

fi lol at the pliers! When I was feeling rotten after I had my tooth out, DD1 was making me better by hitting my knees and elbows with the hammer thing from her doctors set! That and trying to pull my fingernails off with tweezers!

lol at the shoe photos, my everyday shoes are really not photogenic! Not sure I'll have space in my bag for my scrummy new green shoes either.

runningmonkey · 08/02/2010 15:00

Hi all,
Just trying to catch up. Am typing one handed as A is holding the other one tight in her sleep so please excuse any typos.

Fi hope your throat continues to improve

flip love the dress, saw it 'in the flesh' when shopping on Sat and was v tempted to buy one too

Also shoes I cannot believe I missed some good shoe chat. I love them, although I don't do heels as I'm too blimmin clumsy.

I am getting slightly worried about the meet now given Dandy's comment, should I be planning an outfit and shoes now

cherry I'd take J out wrapped up nice and warm. You've got to stay sane too As for the monitor, I would agree with trusting your instincts. I think if you want to get him checked over do it.

Belg hope you are feeling less numb now. I love the pics of C on FB. She is soooo gorgeous

I have to say that I am not a big fan of wagamamas, I like the style of food but we have a gorgeous noodle bar here that makes it seem very chainy and fast-foody.

ses glad you had fun at centerparcs despite O being poorly.

Hi to everyone else, hope everyone is ok on this dreary cold afternoon.

FiByTheIcySea · 08/02/2010 15:02

that took me so long i knew there'd be more posts.
welcome back ses wow at O's 7teeth but boo he was poorly.. better now i hope?
flippin there is an egg allergy sf jab alternative.. they just don't offer it to all as they don't have as much stock i think.
