belgina · 12/01/2010 21:00

ROFL pula I'd like one of those too

Thanks grumpy Nice title

Ses The Bell is still there. It's lovely in there but pricey! Good food though.

tumm about the 12m of work.

DH has apologised about his choice of film. He did sit with them and explained it all to the dcs. I think that as soon as it started he realised his mistake.

Loobylou36 · 12/01/2010 21:01

no cocktail for me thanks I am enjoying a lovely chilled glass of white

llare please can I have your goulash recipe - I've never made it

Loobylou36 · 12/01/2010 21:03

saying goodnight for now - DH wants to use MY laptop

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 12/01/2010 21:10

Evening all, I'll have one of those cocktail thingies too, please.

lol at the dodgy clothes confessions. I was a grungy kind of girl, so used to wear stripey or patchwork trousers, or short skirts and leggings, and always DMs and baggy, holey tshirts/shirts. I wasn't particularly confident, so never did the glam-grunge thing. Now I'm frighteningly dull and a bit frumpy.

tummmum - fab weight loss, well done! But boo to all the work stuff.

belgian grrrr at Terminator.

llare - (slightly) lol at your day.

Need to go and help DH unload the food shopping, back later.

runningmonkey · 12/01/2010 21:14

Evenin'

llareggub · 12/01/2010 21:34

Oh I love Glee! It is so, so good. I have been singing glee songs all day. In fact I may watch it again later.

llareggub · 12/01/2010 21:43

Loobs

Paprika Goulash (it is from a low GI recipe book so we ate this a lot when I was pregnant!)

2 tablespoons of cornflour
750g steak pieces
1 tablespoon of sunflower oil (I use olive oil)
50g back bacon, chopped (I stick in a load of lardons)
3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
450g onions, grated (I usually substitute these for 1 chopped onion and a load of shallots)
1 tablespoon caraway seeds
1 tablespoon of hot smoked paprika, plus extra for garnish
600ml beef stock
2 tablespoons tomato puree
ground black pepper
1-2 tubs of Greek yoghurt

Method

Tip the cornflour and beef into a plastic bag, seal the top and shake well until the beef pieces are lightly dusted.

Heat the oil in a flameproof casserole, add the bacon, garlic, onions, caraway and paprika and cook for 3 minutes.

Add the beef to the pan, followed by the stock and tomato puree. Season with black pepper. Simmer, then cover and cook gently for 2 hours, stirring occasionally until the meat is tender and the sauce reduced to a rick consistency.

Serve with a dollop of yogurt sprinkled with paprika.

Serves 6.

Momino · 12/01/2010 22:43

where's my cocktail?
ah, there it is. thanks!

everyone sounds well tonight, hope that's right.

cherrytom, great news about the job, well done!

ses, i think a new puppy is a great idea, sooner the better.

grumpy, PVC? really? do you have a pic?

my worst was in the 80's when I had Molly Ringwald-style short perm, wore very large ripped neck jumpers and skinny trousers. i also had these pointy black boots, cross between Beatles and cowboy style .

belgina, hope you find an AP soon.

llare, am sorry but have to say i ed at your going to work on the wrong day (you're laughing at this by now, right?). and lovely recipe, am going to make this goulash this week, yummy.

reggiee, hope you had a great bday.

got to do my s'bury's shop before 11 or will fall asleep. looking forward to meeting the others tomorrow and wish we could meet more of you.

Momino · 12/01/2010 22:44

oh, and grumpy, thanks for the thread .

hello to everyone i haven't mentioned. can't remember who posted what on the last thread now... .

llareggub · 12/01/2010 23:03

80s dress Momino?

I hear your tale and raise you:

Green trousers, batwing top with green waistcoat and orange daps, obviously with lots of plastic "junk" jewellry.

Oh, and a candy-striped rara dress.

cherrytom · 12/01/2010 23:04

ahhh cocktails, I'll join you all in a Screaming Orgasm

looby your hospital tests sound horrible- when will you get results?

tummum sorry your work situation isn't good- can you look for something else

hmmmmm is there any way we can add photos of our teenage fashion victimness on the FB group without them being on our public profiles? Ahem, I'll show you mine if you show me yours

FiByTheIcySea · 13/01/2010 08:07

darn missed the screaming orgasms will have to make do with a hot cuppa tea.. not quite the same lol.

80's fashion has a lot to answer for.. I started the decade in drainpipe jeans and then moved onto early madonna stylee.. big plastic jewellery, studded belts, string vests, fishnets, rara skirts & puffballs. Had a 2yr phase of being a goth.. long black skirts, loads of black eyeliner, nail varnish, white face and of course my dm's. That phase turned into more of an emo look at art college. now i do the boring mummy look.. whatever jeans and t-shirts are clean.. Gah i need some new clothes.. mine are sooo boring by comparison these days!

looby glad your colposcopy is over and hope you're less sore today.

tummum sorry work is pants and boo to 12 more months.

belgina fingers crossed the ap is a keeper.

llare great recipe and really enjoyed glee too.

sf jabs.. had a letter through to take G and ds.. been trying to decide what to do. those that dc's have had the jab how did the dc's feel after?

can't remember what else i was going to say sorry.

llareggub · 13/01/2010 09:11

Fi my boys were due to have the SF jab today, but I've decided not to drive anywhere today as it has snowed overnight and is still snowing heavily.

Nursery is shut again. This term out of 4 sessions DS has been once. I suspect I am being unreasonable but I really begrudge paying for his place when he isn't there!

Loobylou36 · 13/01/2010 09:11

morning

we've had another 3/4 inches of snow here too and its still coming down

llare thanks for the recipe, sounds yummy just the sort of food for this sort of weather

M had quite a good night despite her cough, 7.30pm till 9.45 quick cuddle then asleep till 5.55am fed then slept till 8!

Managed shower, cup of tea and breakfast before she got up

don't think I'm going too far today the roads are really bad so definatly won't be driving.

Not as sore today but bleeding quite heavy (sorry TMI )

runningmonkey · 13/01/2010 09:22

Morning,
llare send some snow this way please ours has all melted and it looks rubbish

SF Jabs FWIW A had hers on Sat. I did quite a bit of reading around before taking her and decided the pros of having the jab far outweigh the cons and since my cousin is seriously ill in hospital with guillan barre syndrome (which can be triggered by flu) I went for it. A flinched when the needle went in but didn't cry and has been fine since, she was a little grumpy Sat pm but another tooth also came through so its difficult to know whether it was the jab or the tooth! Another friend of mine had her daughter done at the same time and she was also a bit grumpy on Sat evening but is fine now.

Am loving the fashion chat. Some of my biggest fashion disasters have been hair related - think home bleached ginger spice style thick 'highlights'

FiByTheIcySea · 13/01/2010 09:32

snowing again here too.. so another home snow play day today. At least now ds is now over 3 and we don't have to pay for his place.. we had to do that last year llare and it was a pita.

looby would any paracetamol help? hope you feel better soon.

FiByTheIcySea · 13/01/2010 09:41

runningm good to know A wasn't too grumpy after jab, the only 2 people i know here who have had it (both pregnant due in 4wks) went on to have flu after and it worried me having the jab would make the dc's poorly..

HeadlessLadyH · 13/01/2010 09:47

Morning.

Absolutely NO SNOW here AT ALL. And all our old stuff has disapperared.

Bookmarking for later but hope the Yorkshire Gals manage their meet up!

belgina · 13/01/2010 10:10

sf vaccine C was due to have hers on Sat, but didn't go due to the blizzards. Haven't rescheduled yet.

looby Hope your test results come back soon and will be helpful

I have no pics of my (90's) teen fashion disasters (was photographer rather than model ). I did find some lovely pics of me as a 10-11yo (80's) at my mum's in dec wearing dayglo outfits. Think fluro pink, yellow and green stripe skirt with white and pink fluoro t-shirt I suppose I was nice and visible when cycling around the village, lol. I also sported a perm in the late 80's early 90's even though I was only 12/13.

It's snowing again here. I was meant to go to a slingmeet, but have decided to stay put... again I would looove got get out of the village again soon

DH and I had a bit of a chat last night. Clearly his patience regarding my libido is starting to wear out. He said he's given me hints (in Looby's DH's 'when are you going to dress up again' fashion). I told him that that's not really the way to go about it and that a woman with no libido needs a bit of a more hands on approach, IYKWIM He's understanding about why my libido is non-existent, though. But from what he's saying sex is all about dressing up (which hasn't happened) and so the handful of times we did do it didn't count . He's also complaining about me not wearing skirts recently, but with the snow and cold and everything it's hardly the weather go go around dressed like that I think him and I have a bit more talking to do on the subject. Right better go, he better not see that I'm telling you ladies this

Reggiee · 13/01/2010 10:33

Morning. Not read thread yet, and just a quickie to say to Momino ta for text and FB message, and we'll rearrange.

Back later!

essenceofSES · 13/01/2010 12:40

Anyone want some snow?! I sound like a miserable old woman but I've had enought of it now!! Another 4" and still snowing! Will maybe attempt a walk later with Lucy and O in the back carrier.

On the plus side, we had best night since before Christmas. O slept from 7.30pm til 2.15am. I then fed him and he slept from 3am til 6.15am. DH got up and went to work then and so brought O in to me and we cuddled and dozed in bed until 8.30am

Sorry York meet up got postponed. I'm sure you'll be able to rearrange soon.

Belgina - sorry you're feeling the pressure from DH. My DH has tried to be patient but has no idea what to say to get me in the mood. His idea of suggesting anything is "Do you want to give me a BJ?" or "Do you want to kiss my arse?" I think he knows that's not the best approach but he seems at a loss to know what else to do even though I've told him to just give me a nice cuddle and see what happens! If he wants O to have a sibling or two, he'll have to work it out!

I'm sure O currently spends as much time on his head as he does on his bottom. He keeps doing a triangular shape with his bum in the air and his feet and head on the ground. Sometimes he takes his hands off the ground too!

Right, sausages for lunch, better go and check on them!
