Oh, evening belgina!

And Dandy, yes, show us please!

flippinegg · 05/02/2010 22:58

x-post! very glam!

belgina · 05/02/2010 23:13

Aargh, I just accidentially deleted my post.

Anyway. Apologies to headless for giving dandy the praise for the coloured shoe suggestion.

flippin I'm liking all your shoes, especially the blue and teal ones. I suppose you are right that the blue ones might be a bit too frumpy.

dandy Amazing shoes! Maybe you need to get them just to be able to pretend you're tall, slim and leggy every so often

Morning all,

dandy I hadn't been scared off, just fighting with my computer and then answering C's calls for food (I think)

Very quiet here this morning then. Better go and help DS finish his poster. DH is asleep, so got to try and keep the dcs quiet. C's in with DH for her nap. I hope she'll let him sleep.

FiByTheIcySea · 06/02/2010 10:51

flippin unfortunately my phone browser can't show me your dress.. but i'm loving the shoes & i'm sure your dress is gorgeous
I went to bed early last night.. i feel like i've been run over by a truck have a bit of a temp and a v sore throat.. even finding swallowing water sore rubbish timing as dh is supposed to be away overnight tomorrow.. he's not sure about going now but i think he should. it's not like we could get a refund on his easyjet tickets anyway & he's not seen his best friend for nearly 2yrs.. i'm sure i can muddle through it's only from lunch time tomorrow till lunch time monday. if need be i'll rope my mum in for bedtime story if my voice goes..

flippinegg · 06/02/2010 11:06

Morning all!

fi - sorry to hear you're feeling ill, hope it turns into nothing.

Thanks all for the fashion advice last night, very helpful! DH is loving the shoes (seriously need a rollseyes emoticon, men and high heeled shoes . Or is it just my man?!) I think we're going to go to Lakeside tomorrow shopping to get the girls new dresses too. I'd rather go to Bluewater really, but there's a Wagamama at Lakeside, the thought of noodles keeps me going!

We're all still in our PJs here, but we need to get organised soon - we need to go to the optician, DH needs new glasses and wants us to help him choose them.

FiByTheIcySea · 06/02/2010 11:42

flippin i'm still in pj's and i plan to stay in them all day! it's not just your dh.. mine always gets frisky & fondly when i wear mine (once in a blue moon these days!).

HeadlessLadyH · 06/02/2010 12:23

Oh did someone say wagamamas??? My tummy rumbles at the thought. Yum.

Loving the shoe chat too. flip your choice 3 are my faves, although a nod too dandy's porn shoes too. Fabulous darlings!

fi hope you feel better soon.

The clock worked here this morning. DS1 came into our room clutching it with Upsy Daisy showing. Here's hoping for a good night with him tonight too.

So. My friend has texted in the last half hour to decline my invitation. "Appreciate the offer but we are running on empty at the moment. Maybe another night?" Still feeling a bit irritated, but at least she "appreciates the offer". WHo fancies Tartiflette and choc mousse then?

Tartiflette is a hightly calorific potato dish that is a nod to my days as a chalet girl as it comes from the Alps and is great when you are skiing. Love it. Night off from the diet tonight. Sod it.

cherrytom · 06/02/2010 12:51

ooo Headless that menu sounds great- your friend is missing out the silly woman!

Love all the shoes - I love heels but never get a chance to wear them any more

We had an awful evening and an amazing night- I put J to bed at 7.30 cue much coughing and the sound of him vomiting, I run into his room and he is ok but has been sick over his sleeping bag so I let DP look after him while I clean up. PUt J in his spare clean sleeping bag and feed him again, he falls asleep whilst feeding so I put him in his cot, as soon as he is in the cot he is coughing and is sick again, everywhere this time up the side of the cot and on the carpet. So he is back downstairs with DP while I clean up again. I end up putting him in an extra layer of clothes and using a very thin sleeping bag we have for his daytime naps. Decide I need a break and a cuppa before attempting to put him down for the 3rd time. So have a quick brew, finally succeed in getting him off to sleep at about 10- I was exhausted but he then slept until 10 this morning I looked like this when I woke up!!!!

HeadlessLadyH · 06/02/2010 13:16

ROFL cherry norktastic. But must have been a bit painful. Hope you managed to get some sleep last night with the amazing sleeping baby. Poor little fella. Hope the sleep did him some good.

I am still irritated at my pal, I've decided. Thinking about it, and I know its pretty petty as lots of you have much bigger things to worry about then a blasted dinner invitation, she has pretty much declined every invitation issued to her in the last 7 months by us. A night out, a sunday lunch at ours, mornings at soft play with the kids, coffee etc. When she invites me somewhere its usually with about an hours notice and I go! EG, she was taking the twins and her mum to a coffee shop round the corner from my house. She rings me as she is on the way to see if I can come. I have my ante natal group at mine so can't but ask if she wants to pop in here (she does know at least one of this group quite well). No and out comes a long list of excuses - the girls need a feed etc. But she's OUT with them anyway. If she had said, no its your ante natalgroup, I'll not come, then that would have been fine. It always seems too much bother for her and whilst she does have her hands full, she also has a full time assistant in her mum. Grrrrrrrr. Really getting to me now actually. I've not texted her back yet. Am stewing. Silly really as she and her DH are lovely people and this is rather silly of me to get so riled by this one tiny incident.

I will now get my life back into some perspective.

llareggub · 06/02/2010 17:02

I wonder if there is anything going on in her personal life that makes it difficult for her to accept invitations? When my DH was in the middle of his alcohol recovery I used to turn down every invitation as I was just too exhausted with pretending that everything was fine. Might be worth asking her if everything is OK. I wouldn't have told anyone at the time but if someone had asked I might have cracked! Just a thought...

Watching the rugby here. Come on WALES!

Loved the dress, btw.

Dandy, I do like the shoes but I'd struggle to walk in them. After a year of flats I tried on a medium heel for work and I could barely walk!

HeadlessLadyH · 06/02/2010 18:11

I have wondered about PND, TBH, but her DH says she is ok on that front. I think that she feels so overwhelmed with the logistics of twins and the older ones that unless stuff is on her terms she won't do it.As in if she suggests something ,it will fit in with her routines and her ability to get there and will therefore go and kind of expect everyone else to follow. Thing is though, much as I and the rest of my friends understand that it can be hard logistically for her, things aren't going to change for her in the foreseeable future, so she just better get used to it and get on with it. She will turn down offers of help (as in taking the older ones off her hands for a morning) quite often too so its as though she wants to make things as difficult as possible.

But llare you had to go through all that. i know you have mentionned it before on here but it must have been so hard for you. Sorry that Wales are letting you down too.

HeadlessLadyH · 06/02/2010 18:12

Ah. Post that and Wales go and score a try for you llare!!!

dandy I agree with you that some people just see obstacles and don't want or can't see a way round them. dh & i also have no help wrt ds & G and the only time we've had a baby sitter is when I was in hospital having G and my elderly aunt came down from bristol to look after DS. The logistics of twins must be tricky but after the initial learning curve i wouldn't let them stop me going out.. esp if i had a live in baby sitter. i would be p'off too headless
i've crawled out of my sick bed now the dc's are asleep for a change of scene.. i slept most of the pm and feeling even more rubbish. dh has called the out of hours gp and as there's no one to babysit to let me go to their clinic they're sending someone out as i've had a temp all day (now 100) & my airway is closing up. i'm wondering if it's tonsilitis (sp?). going to be about 3hrs wait though.

flippinegg · 06/02/2010 21:23

fi - sorry to hear you're still feeling ill, hope the doc doesn't take forever to get to you.

llareggub - we watched most of the match too, great start Wales, well done guys again.

headless - I really don't blame you for being p'ed off, that much(little) notice is rubbish, and with all the background as well, hmmm. I get annoyed, well, bitter with people grumbling about lack of childcare/assistance, we have absolutely nothing here too. It was one of the things I discussed with the counsellor last week , or maybe .

Good day, found DH's new glasses, but OMW it's complicated! The infinite combinations of deals/packages on frames, lenses, coatings, type of lenses etc etc. I wear glasses too, but tbh I don't think about mine, I just get pretty much the same combination (just different frames) each time. DH, on the other hand, made the woman do a vast number of calculations so that he could get the best possible deal on his two pairs...it took hours.

youngerthanspringtime · 06/02/2010 22:54

Evening all.
really enjoyed the fashion show earlier. Flippin, love the dress. now, I'm going to get a tut-tut from Dandy (I'm sorry to disappoint), but I might wear leggings with that dress. Only saying this because I wore a similar style dress with black leggings and red ballet pumps to match the flowers in the dress. For some reason, maybe the knee length, heels made the dress look 'old'. I'm no fashion icon, though .

funny, before children I wouldn't be caught dead in trainers or flat shoes, but now I'm mostly wearing uggs, converse, pumps, anything that doesn't hurt my feet. I'm getting old (or I've got there already!).

llare, so glad about your grandmother. Mine did the same as well and she was in her 90s. Sorry about the rugby.

fi, hope you feel better soon. Hope you're drinking a nice hot toddy to send you off...

Cherry, great illustration of your 'discomfort' in the morning .

LadyH, sorry your friend declined. I'm sure it isn't personal and will have good reason. It's a shame she couldn't have given you more time before declining instead of telling you at the last moment.

had my cello lesson today which went well. I thought I'd feel disappointed that I couldn't play at the same level as before but it actually started coming back to me slowly but surely. it will take a while to get back to where I was and goodness knows I don't have time to practice but it made me feel good to do something so personal and unrelated to parenting. I feel like I don't have many (any?) hobbies now that I've become a mum.

hope everyone is well tonight.

darn, just lost a post.

good point, Dandy, about the wedding.

I've become so insecure in my fashion choices and now regulary ask the ultra hip 20something fitting room attendants for their advice/opinion .

FiByTheIcySea · 07/02/2010 07:48

morning.. i'm a bit better this am. Still v sore to swallow liquids and food.. not that i have any appetite though. doc came at 11pm & confirmed i have tonsilitis and gave me bf friendly AB's. DS only got up once last night and dh got up with him this am so i got to sleep until G needed fed.

HeadlessLadyH · 07/02/2010 09:09

Morning all.

fi tonsillitis. Oh dear. Listen, get yourself back to bed, sleep and get yourself well.

younger I have the insecurity thing to. My choices are all very much in the same vein ie longish tops with jeans. But some of the stuff around these days you have to be like, 12 years old to wear.

I didbuy this last week but again, I have worn it with skinny jeans and flat gold pumps so not too much different to day wear really.

Another good night from DS1 but he didn't quite manage Upsy Daisy this morning but at least he stayed in his own bed all night, well till 6am. R awake at 5am. Passed him to DH at 5.55am and I went back to bed. For 5 minutes.

What does everyone have planned today?

We are doing Waterbabies later and then my mum and youngest brother are coming for lunch. The other two members of my family are still on opposite sides of the world. Dad in SA and middle brother in Whistler. But, he is looking after the German Ski Team as part of his job as the WInter Olympics start next week. Its all very exciting. I can't wait for them to start. I do love a bit of ski racing.
