Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Gosh, it really is quiet on here lately.

Well, I'm back from my pampered chef party. The babysitter phoned because C woke and didn't settle and so I had to go back home. I didn't even get to try the pecan chocolate cake thing that was being made TBH the babysitter seemed really spooked that C was screaming the way she was. She said she'd never had anything like it before and looked very relieved that I was here. I remember rocking babies for ages while babysitting. She's very much in demand, but I sort of feel that she should have been able to deal with it. Oh well, it's done now. C's asleep and happy her mummy is here and I can have an early night I suppose.

Oh, C's crying again. I wonder what's going on.

Tummum · 02/02/2010 22:21

Hi All. No sign of CP, thank goodness. Must have just been spots [blush.] Sorry, too tired (and fed up, to be honest!) to chat so gonna wave at everyone and hope you are having a good week.
Belgina rubbish about your night out being halted
Flip hope your mouth feeling better soon
Febes blimey, your move to NZ is getting close
Llare enjoy the break. Sounds fab, especially as you had no holiday over the summer
Dandy hope your RL stuff gets sorted

(See, I couldn't resist a small name check !)

runningmonkey · 03/02/2010 09:52

Morning all,

Hope everyone is ok today. We've got snot snot snot here, and thats just me and DH (sorry, TMI)

tum glad it wasn't CP. Sorry you are feeling fed up.

Belgina sorry your night was cut short. Hope C was ok.

flip how's the mouth today?

I'm going to pick up some new glasses this afternoon. I totally couldn't afford it but my current ones are falling apart after me falling asleep in them a lot since A was born so I went crazy and did a BOGOF in specsavers so at least I'll have a spare pair now too.

Have a good day all

belgina · 03/02/2010 10:00

Hi everyone,

It's staying quiet here. It must be a combo of illness, moving babes and back to work eating in our MN time.

running Hope the snot goes soon. Still got a sore throat myself, but it doesn't seem to b e progressing to anything more than that so far.

C's OK. Don't know what the problem was TBH. It was a bit chaos when I got home though. The babysitter had completely lost control.

C keeps getting constipated. Any tips as to how to get more fluids into her. Though I think it might the the not enough fruit/veg that's the problem [unsure emoticon]

llareggub · 03/02/2010 10:29

Morning!

I've had a horrid night. DS1 was complaining of being cold so wanted me to "hold him," which he said dramatically in a "never leave me, mummy," kind of way. Suspect he is destined for the stage. Anyway, I held him for a bit until the other one woke for a feed. Grr.

FiByTheIcySea · 03/02/2010 10:32

morning! monday & tuesdays are manic days here.. was too pooped to MN last night

colds here too running & belgina sorry your evening got cut short but glad C is happy again. G gets V constipated with eating bananas.. even with you offering a beaker of water with all her meals.. so i try to limit them. with blw how about offering veggies or fruit as purees for dipping?

FiByTheIcySea · 03/02/2010 10:35

x post llare sorry you had an awful night

FiByTheIcySea · 03/02/2010 10:48

few other NC's before I forget them..
febes fingers crossed your house sells easily and for the price you want. you must be getting V excited about moving back home & seeing your family plus those new additions!
tummum Phew it wasn't cp.. roll on friday and hopefully no emails at home from work this week!
dandy i hope you had C great night out last night and your dh dc free trip to bath will be great! the bath spa is open now.. what a saga that was. there's lots to see, shop & do there.. hope your rl stuff settles too.

FiByTheIcySea · 03/02/2010 10:51

running hope you feel better soon. Fairly snotty here too, but it's just H and I, DH seems to have escaped. Thanks for the cot advice - we've got a folded towel under one end but I think it needs a bit more so maybe a pillow would be a good idea. And I have spent many a night of late thinking about earplugs! Funnily enough DH often offers to help in the evening but is not so forthcoming at night. I'm sure he would help if I demanded asked though.

llare sorry you had a bad night.

flippin hope your mouth is better today.

belgina sorry your evening was curtailed. Sounds like the babysitter was a being a bit of a wimp but she was probably just worried in case something was wrong. Glad C is happier again today.

Well, I am feeling a bit more positive after a pretty good night, relatively speaking. I had to re-settle every hour during the evening, but H then slept 10.30 - 1am in his cot and then 1.30 - 5.30 (quick feed) - 7.00 on the bed between us. I really hope it's a sign of things improving but I fear it's more likely to be sheer exhaustion! I've got a GP appt for him tomorrow morning to rule out an ear infection. I'm pretty sure his niggles are just teething but I think I'll get him checked out anyway.

Hope everyone has a good day.

HeadlessLadyH · 03/02/2010 12:01

I'm back !!!!!!!

Right, lots to catch up on, I see. So back later when had chance to read up.

youngerthanspringtime · 03/02/2010 12:25

Hi all. just sat down to breakfast, waiting for MIL to arrive. I've got a KIT 'day' today at home which is actually a conference call and brief review (in my own time).

I'm having porridge with cream on it for a bit of luxury (ah, the little things).

I didn't post yesterday as the night before had been the worst night - how come each really bad night feels like The Worst? spangle and others, doesn't it feel that way? anyway, I've called the HV about dd1&2's sleep disruptions and she's coming round next week for a chat. I'm desperate.

febes, sorry, but I thought the trouser-thing was a bit funny as well . so glad to hear about your resignation, that must be a relief to have made a decision and then can move forward (to NZ!).

everyone else, I'll catch up later today, have to put a pot of coffee on for the MIL.

youngerthanspringtime · 03/02/2010 12:28

massive delay in posting the above (wrote it hours ago). and xposted many in the meanwhile .

The work call is in half an hour so just have to review an exciting slide presentation and will catch up on posts afterwards.

I may even do a more extensive name check. I'm feeling particularly productive.

cherrytom · 03/02/2010 13:15

Hi all, sorry not been about much. Jake is ill. He had an awful cold including one night where we were up until 7am it's been awful and now it's developed into Bronchiolitis (?).

Emergency gp appointment last night as he was wheezing, since then he has got worse and we are keeping an eye on him as the GP has said to bring him back if he starts to get dehydrated or if he is really struggling to breathe.
I feel like crying all the time and lay in bed last night listening to his wheezing worried sick.

Sorry for me me me post just wanted to offload as I'm feeling stressed and so worried about him

FiByTheIcySea · 03/02/2010 13:49

oh cherry how awful jake is so poorly.. a friend of mine had dc #2 6wks ago had to go back to stay in hospital for a few wks as ds got bronchitis thing too.. she hardly slept either worrying but he's been piling on the lbs since getting better and now all ok. i hope the AB's work fast for jake and his breathing eases asap.

cherrytom · 03/02/2010 14:32

Thanks Fi- GP didn't prescribe ABs it is just a case of watch and see and go back if necessary. She did say that most babies get better by themselves although a few need hospital treatment. Fingers crossed it won't come to that.

He won't eat any solids at the moment but is still bfing, although has been sick quite a few times

We can still raise a smile with peekaboo but he is so not himself and listening to his wheezing and coughing is heartbreaking

Your friend must've been worried sick with her ds being so poorly so young, glad to hear he is much better now

HeadlessLadyH · 03/02/2010 14:53

Have had chance to read up so here goes...

cherry poor J. A friend of mine's LO had this too. Her Dr wouldn't prescribe anything either and he just got better so I hope J does too.

younger cello lessons eh? Thats impressive!

llare your HV is being ridiculous over the crawling. DS1 didn't crawl till 11 months. They all get mobile in the end. But you know this. You are a sensible woman!

dandy Hope you are ok and get your RL chat soon. And hope you manage to poo dodge for the rest of the day.

emmabemma good to see you back and happy to hear that you and your DH are working things out too.

febes Yay. Exciting news on the resignation and the move to NZ.

spangle I am with you on the crap nights here. See my posts from last week!! Its soul destroying after a while, I know. I have just invested in the No Cry Sleep Solution book and have only got to chapter 2 so far!

R has cut his first tooth which probably explains the disturbed nights recently and now has the snot monster back too.

tum exciting news from you too! New business op. Do keep us updated!

Hello to everyone else !

Loved the teen book chat too. Glad to see I wasn't the only SE Hinton fan! I had no idea she was so young when she wrote The Outsiders.

Other than the No Cry Sleep Solution, I have A Thousand Splendid Suns on my bedside table athe mo (by the same author as the Kite Runner). Its fantastic. Just wish I could keep my eyes open long enough to read more than about 5 pages at a time.

DS1's shy shitting has improved a bit. The ssticker chart helped. I'll probably be eating my words , or rather washing his keks, later when I pick him up from school. We are now focussing on keeping him in his own bed at night. If its not one thing its another. Oh the joys of parenthood......

runningmonkey · 03/02/2010 15:08

Back from specsavers with one of my pairs of glasses. Love them. The others are delayed as one of the lenses got damaged apparently and because I have 'special' eyes I have to wait for them to make some more. Grrrr.

On the plus side I accidentally managed to buy some of those tummy tuck vests HtheH mentioned earlier and remembered to get DH a valentines card and a bottle of his favourite wine.

spangle I can't urge enough getting your DH to help a bit. We made a pact one weekend that if it was less than three hours since a feed, then DH would go and settle A so she couldn't smell me as she was demanding milk all the time. I did feel bad that DH had to go to work during the week but it worked v quickly in terms of spacing out the feeds so I could get a bit more sleep.

dandy also hope you have managed to poo dodge for the rest of the day.

cherry so sorry to hear J is ill. My friends little boy had it at about 6 weeks and was v poorly but didn't have to go to hospital and is absolutely fine now. I think its caused by a virus so that's probably why AB's weren't prescribed. Hope he recovers quickly.

younger hope your KIT day has gone well

Hi to ladyh and others I haven't managed to nc, its feeding time at the runningmonkey zoo.

emmabemmasmom · 03/02/2010 15:08

Helloooo all!

I took DD1 to a swimming class today. I found out she was terrified and climbed me like a tree the whole time. She loves water and always loved swimming...so I am a bit lost. However, we went to a new soft play that was very high the other week and discovered she was terrified of heights too. Maybe she is just at the age of being scared. I am just so used to her running head on into situations without a second thought that it caught me off guard for her to need me again...but in a horrible way I kinda enjoyed it as I had my baby back for a few moments. Is that bad?

Then we went to soft play as I felt she deserved something she liked since I scared the crap out of her with swimming. Whew...

Sorry to hear that a lot of you are still ill or have LO's that are. I have been lucky as we have not really been out at all since before xmas. I don't remember the last time S got out...should make a point to take her more places too. Just so hard with a 2yr old and a 9 month old. Anyway, I really hope you all start to feel better soon!

Now I shall go pass out...
