Hello

So, another highly unproductive day for me! Have been expressing breastmilk and eating toast and that is about it!

lottie would be good if you have the time to summarise your interesting reading! It really is groundhog day isn't it! Hope your injuries improve soon, when I was in agony post-birth it was hard enough but to have proper injuries and twins, I am in awe again!

ali glad jacob seems a little better rash-wise, good luck at the doctors hope you can find a solution soon

ctfn no advice from me, I have a baby nasal aspirator and it's massive no idea how that can fit in a baby's nose

shinybaubles · 02/02/2010 17:56

Hi everyone.
Am feeling a bit light headed as am having first glass of wine, very nice but combined with a carb free diet may I think send me to sleep. .
Finally have Olivers reflux and colic under control now just working on his gas - lol. He is a happy baby - I am lucky . And already growing out of clothes.
No point in me writing a birth story with a c section, just to say as they pulled the screen down to show me him, he peed in my face and I mean in my mouth and he hasn't stopped peeing yet .
Now going to read all of the previous posts.

somewhathorrified · 02/02/2010 19:06

Lol shiny! Have to say mines been getting good at leaving a wee available for when the nappy's off, currently having 3 nappy changes during each feed. I want so much to move onto reusable nappies, but not a hope in hell is there that I could keep up!

Lottie hope you heal up fast, and take care with those icy roads!

mistletoekisses · 02/02/2010 19:10

CTFN - re the stuffy nose, I found a few things definitely helped. Tilting the cot/ moses helps them breathe, always did it when DS1 had a cold. We also invested in one of these when DS was a baby and it has always helped him heaps when he has a cold/ cough. Has been a very good investment - plus he finds the nightlight on it really calming.

Ali - glad Jacobs skin is better. Let us know how you get on at the docs tmrw.

crumpette - your day sounds ideal! the days i have DS1 at home with me pass by in a whirl of non stop activity!

shiny - am at your carb free diet. Well done for willpower. I am starting to resemble a loaf of bread. . Your story about the peeing is hilarious! I didnt realise they could go so soon!

Well the HV finally came today. She was nice enough but seemed so stressed out bless her. I felt asking her if all was ok. But Nico was weighed and he is 8lbs 10oz. Has gained 2lbs 2oz in 3.5 weeks. Yay!
DS1 sf jab was also absolutely fine. The nurse gave him a huge sticker afterwards and that is all he is talking about, not the jab!

Hi to everyone else!!!

misltoe I am so proud of me too I have always been crap at sticking to diets, but this is going really well and have lost quite a bit of weight..

mistletoekisses · 02/02/2010 19:55

Shiny - why the ? You have every right to be proud. It takes a hell of a lot of willpower to do carb free. So fair play to you, credit where it is due. Can I ask a question though - because I am kind've curious. Are you bfeeding? Am just wondering if your diet is compatible with bfeeding/ works without impacting milk supplies...

Hi londonlottie not following a specific diet just have cut out obvious carbs ie bread and rice etc, not carb counting or anything like that and I have lost 14 kilos since he was born.
Fennel tea very good for wind...they gave it to me in the hospital and also used here for colic - do you just use normal fennel tea or is it something specific - would like to try it on Oliver.

londonlottie thanks for the info about tea will get some this weekend. They gave me fennel tea in the hospital after the c section.
I to think I am going to struggle to loose the rest of the weight although I only put on 8 with the pregnancy the rest is weight I needed to loose from before another 14 kilos to go so I am halfway there.

I have to admit londonlottie to getting quite a bit of sleep, ds feeds at 10 ish and then dh does the feed at 2.30 ish and then he always wakes for 10 minutes at about 4 and sleeps until I wake him at 7.15. So I get to sleep from 10 until 7 with 10 minutes up at 4 .
DH has a cold and you would think it was something life threatening, he is being very dramatic.

Hi all and welcome - newbie mummys over here!

LL- you sound very mumsies! it must be hard to balance a rountine if it doesnt stay a rountine then a exhausted Hubby as well! my hat comes off to u with 2!
My household is very busy and DD9 left taps in bathroom on and she floaded the downstairs and water went in elec cupboard!!!! so cross but minamal shouting just told her to check next time and be careful! so wet,wet carpet which im still deciding if it should just be torn up!
not liking the smell right now but have loads of towels drying it! plus shake and vav when its dry!
weight loss is good for i dont get time to eat want to sleep when he does!so barely get hot drink before 1pm.DH god send and is cooking all the meals in the house!
6 weeks till we fly away for 2 weeks!!!!! i need some sun!

sockmonkey · 03/02/2010 16:34

Been to register Naomi today.
This morning a complete farce. DH has been taking the boys to school, but tends not to get out of bed till about 15 mins before they have to go... except this morning he decided he was too ill, but only told me 10 mins before school started. I had to get dressed and de-ice the car in superfast time, we were a bit late & I was very annoyed, especially as he was sat on laptop when I got back. I hadn't even brushed my teeth or had breakfast.
I officially hate mornings! It's when I could do with help the most, it's hard to sort breakfasts, feed bub, change nappy, get boys to get dressed etc, pack sandwiches, check book bags etc all one handed usually with Naomi crying and boys whining.
DH is still sick, and requires almost as much care as the baby. ARGH!

My nips are cracked too Naomi is a chomper. I have to be really careful with her latch now.

Other than that all going well.

crumpette we have 7 days not week days to register here after that you have to go to the police and explain the delay etc.
I know you probably don't want too but have you tried a dummy, we had to with Oliver as he is a sucky baby and it calms him, he doesn't sleep with it in, but helps him when he cries from gas.

somewhathorrified · 03/02/2010 17:47

Yay, have just discovered the miracle of the car seat, for some reason Tobin loves to sleep in it during the day. Makes such a difference to the speed at which he drops off, sometimes I get a whole 1-2 hrs between feeds now He still screams the house down during nappy changes, am wondering whether using a dummy for this might help...maybe wait a couple more weeks before trying as have only just managed to re-establish BF after using bottle to top up.

Thanks for the advice summary lottie, it's too easy to think that it's our fault when our LO's cry, especially at 4am. It's nice to have a tick list.

mistletoekisses · 03/02/2010 19:21

Evening all

Popping on quickly to catch up then heading to bed.

Shiny - the shrinking of the boobs. Yup happened to me last time. Within a fortnight of stopping bfeeding, they resembled two balloons you find behind the sofa a few weeks after a party. But well done on the diet and keep going!

Lottie - did the fennel water help? My mum used to give us that when we were small. If you also eat / drink fennel - small amounts will pass through the bmilk also benefitting your bubs.

Mama2b - hope your carpets are dry!! What timing huh?

Sock - your mornings sound manic! Hope for your sake that your DH is better soon.

Crumpette - I think your life can be made fairly difficult if you dont do it within 6 weeks. here is the link with info. I have an appointment for next week to get Nico's sorted.

SWH - glad the car seat helped! Do you have a baby bouncer chair? DS1 and Nico both love the baby bjorn sitter. And Nico defo finds it comfy to drop off in occasionally.

Had waking every 2 hours last night , so getting to bed now in the vain hope that Nico will sleep until at least 10! Tmrw we try a bottle in the evening. Fingers and toes!
