ok wait it's only been 2 years... We went the December just before Q was conceived. But still!
Have fun - you do have an excuse not to be a chicken. You have to get back safely to your babies or take one with you who isn't a daredevil!

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/01/2010 16:21

I will most likely struggle with any date in Feb, as 4 yr old birthday parties in abundance.

I've just had a lovely soak in the bath with one of my new books, joined by dd at the end, followed by attempting to teach her how to play battleships (which I knew was too complicated for her, but she found it in the cupboard and insisted), then a quick tidy up from lunch and a snack for dd all whilst ds slept. Makes up for him getting up early today, and prob going to bed late now too!

Lovely, csws! What a fab afternoon you've had

Let's just stick with january - any sunday, but let's do one at least that 50ft or myjob can make - it doesn't make sense that they both miss out - right?

well, we found that playing in the snow tires kids out. So, Q took at 3.5 hour nap and was in bed at normal time - he actually pointed to his cot and coaxed us into the bedroom to put him in there to sleep.

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/01/2010 20:46

I don't think there was any that myjob could make. And 50ft can't do 17th or 24th. And I now can't do 31st because I told my parents that dd couldn't go away with them on 24th and that it couldn't possibly be rearranged, so now she's going on 31st! I suppose we could maybe do 7th Feb actually - it's the day before dd's birthday, but we don't actually have anything planned yet (her party is the following weekend), and I'm sure she'd love to spend the day playing with 50ftjnr.

Ds late to bed after his long nap, but hopefully it means he won't be up before dawn tomorrow. School likely closed again .

about 25 minutes pistachio! Is he happy with that? If Q gets less than 2 hours he's mr grumpy pants for the remainder of the day!

Any sunday works for me

aubergenie · 06/01/2010 20:53

Well, we had a bit of snow today. All the teachers made it in, from all over London and Essex and loads of kids, who all live locally didn't bother to turn up!

Another good day at the CM. S cried for less than a minute after I left and happily played all day. When I turned up to collect him, he gave me a cuddle and went back to play with the dolls house!

to a lovely afternoon CSWS. I keep meaning to have a lovely long bath one evening and always seem to end up on Mumsnet have too much to do.

aubergenie · 06/01/2010 20:58

Pistachio - I feel your pain. S was like that for most of the holidays. it's impossible to do anything for yourself, isn't it. The CM managed to get him to nap for 2 and a quarter hours today. I must get some tips.

pepperrabbit · 06/01/2010 21:02

Hello all, sorry we've been AWOL for a while. the pepper household continues to lurch from crisis to crisis. Sigh.
We had a lovely New Year, but when we got home the heating had broken - it was soooo cold. Collected hot watre bottles and sent everyone to bed in loads of layers. British gas came and replaced a receiver thing . All well till Sunday night - huge clonking noises in the night and the whole thing goes kaput . British Gas can't come till Thursday!! So I spend yesterday stealing borrowing heaters and hot air blowers. It was so cold by the time the snow started..
Anyhow, DH beat up the boiler and persuaded it to work so we've had heat today - with a foot of snow outside I'm so grateful.
Spookily, last night I woke up at 3am for no reason at all - and DH did as well, 20 mins later we have a text from his mum (as you do). DH rang her, and his gran had died at 3am. . We own her (granny's) old house and she lived here for a good 30 years...
So, we're trapped at home, schools closed, MIL v upset but we can't get to her.
Tomorrow, DH and I are both working from home - with all 3 kids
No idea how that's supposed to work!
Oh dear, that was long. Going to scroll back and read last 5 pages now!

I too feel your pain Pistachio. M was like that over Christmas and it took a few days for her to settle back but now she's back to 2 hours in the day. Hopefully he just needs to get back to normal after being away.

Um... 7th should be ok. Off the top of my head we have nothing going on, but maybe I should dig a bit deeper in my head as I am quite forgetful!

StarExpat · 06/01/2010 21:10

I just got the call - no school tomorrow either!!!!!!!!! YIpeeeeeee!! I'm so excited! Dh has no school either... oh well.

Pepper what a horrible thing to happen. Aren't they supposed to come to you immediately if you have children? That's just absolutely crazy!!

Myjob would you like to come over for the day anyday? I dont mind. My house is always open to visitors.
I think the 7th of Feb is ok. But like 50ft I am always a bit hazy

50ftQueenie · 06/01/2010 21:22

Sorry Pepper I missed your post. I think Star is right. If you have young 'uns they have to come out straight away, especially for dd's sake. Sorry you've been having such a rubbish time of it lately.

ronshar · 06/01/2010 21:22

Pants wrong post first.
Pepper I am sorry for you & Dh, for your loss. Waking up at 3am scary though.

pepperrabbit · 06/01/2010 21:31

TBH, she was very very old (93?) and had no quality of life anymore. Alzheimers, old age etc, she knew no-one anymore, not even her own daughter. But, while she didn't suffer, MIL suffered for her IYSWIM.
Anyway, I've forced encouraged DH to ring her several times today and she's OK. No chance of getting to her tomorrow from the look of outside - she lives ona silly hill!
We had people going past our house today with their shopping on sledges - I have never seen that here before!
Praying the heating lasts tonight - not sure British gas will get to us tomorrow though - hot water bottles on standby again

aubergenie · 06/01/2010 21:36

Pepper, sorry to hear about your loss. Must be awful not to be able to get to your mil at the moment. Couldn't be a worse time for your boiler to pack in. I hope you've got lots of plug in heaters till they can come.

Is anyone watching the F Word? What has Gordon Ramsay done to his forehead? He looks like he's had botox in part of it and the rest is still really wrinkly.

50ftQueenie · 06/01/2010 21:40

Not watching it because DH and I have finally both agreed that Gordon Ramsey is a twat. But yes, I believe I've read that he's had botox. But even botox wouldn't shift those wrinkles!

Gordon Ramsay admits he has had his chin lasered and filled. Said his face was falling off.
Myjob a Monday is fab.
Pistachio DD1 dropped a day time sleep when she was 11 months. So I am grateful for everyday extra I get, so I feel your pain.

Off to bed. Night ladies.

StarExpat · 06/01/2010 22:03

oh yes I remember when Q was 11 weeks (I think - somewhere close to this!) calling british gas and saying "I need heat, I have a little baby" and they said "how old is the baby?" I said "11 weeks" and she said "ohhh that is tiny Someone will come today" And they did! I thought... hmmmm what if I had said 16 weeks... would he be too old to be prioritized for heat, then? What's the cut off??

yes aubergenie good news that S did better at the CM today I bet all the kids at your school were at home building snowpeople!

pistachio - I don't know how you or ds does that. I often sleep with Q if I'm home like on a weekend or these snow days!

StarExpat · 06/01/2010 22:05

ronshar 11 months . I can defnitely not have another child. It's just too risky. What if I get a non napper?? No way.

Honeymoonmummy · 06/01/2010 23:01

Hey all, sorry I've not read but I hope everyone is OK. I've been working from home so I can feed Poppy as required, she's not been sick today altho vomited last night and she's finally eaten something, had some potato and carrots for tea.

The snow's so bad here and in Manchester that I'm not going to bother going in this week which is great because I get more sleep, more time with Pops and save money on the commute/ parking. I'm still pretty knackered tho, I got to the end of my working day today and fell asleep immediately for 2 hours!! I've luckily been given work straightaway, some people haven't got much to do at the moment, but I've been given a report to write.

I'm just watching BB then I'm going to bed. Boo hoo last year of BB!!

Night all!
